RP: Bastardpiece Theater [Bastardpiece Theater] Bastard Operations: Ghosts in the Snow

Pushing himself from the floor, Dex glanced at the shadowed figures of his comrades around the corpse of their fearless opponent. "I'm alive." replied the man in response to Kira's question. "Everyone good. If you're injured, you'll have to wait." spoke the man as he glanced in Kurt's direction. "We ready to go?" asked Dex as he felt around the floor for his weapon. Finally finding it, he pulled the slide back partway to check there was still a round chambered before taking a loose ready position despite the aching pain in his back from having been slammed against the wall and floor.

This was what they had been fighting, bleeding and killing for, and it wasn't savory in the slightest.

As they all gathered around the lone crib, its sole occupant slept silently. A pair of earplugs were slipped into the baby's ears with care, explaining why she hadn't burst into tears. A field stripped, semi-automatic shotgun laying on the floor told them just why this was done however. Fortunately, just glancing at the parts, they could tell that the firing pin had shattered when the trigger was pulled, preventing it from hitting the loaded shell's primer hard enough to set it off. Kurt shook his head - this was dumb luck. Armor or not, he would have had several broken ribs and a shattered sternum, or worse. This was why he had the whole door sent into him.

As they looked at the sleeping baby girl, the pink the Nepleslians preferred for girls telling them as much, the reality of their job came resting onto their shoulders. Taking the baby, and placing her into the padded, air-cycled container, they left.

"Well, I suppose it could have been worse," the Delsaurian's voice floated into their ears.

The Hellions couldn't make it back to their hideout at the Muffin Man store, but they did manage to rent out a motel. Gathered up in the dingy room with its sole bed, they had a handful of medical supplies with them to patch up anything they needed. Or, more accurately, buy enough time to actually get real medical treatment if it was anything actually serious. They still had a good deal of ammo, but nothing that would last them through a long fight - and if it came to that anyways, they were done for. "The team's been split up and taken in by others acting in the area, but at least it'll be easier to coordinate you all," he added. Off to one side, the baby had only woken up once to wail, going silent shortly after being given her bottle. "As for her, she's what we need to get what we want - the governmental official will more or less get us into one of the facilities that the Enforcers are protecting," Nacon began to explain to them.

"It seems like they're not the only entity operating here though, despite being the ones in charge - anyways! Catch your breaths. You'll be heading out again soon."

Kira gave the baby a bottle and nursed it for a bit, it came natural to her. Back home among Kuznietski, there were children everywhere so it was not first time, she handled a small child. Still as soon as the little girl calmed herself, Kira put her back into the pod. She then proceeded to take of her coat and inspect it. Blood. There was no wonder, the child cried, even if it was not for hunger. Blood smells to all creatures.

"We get clean again, yes?" Kira said to Kurt and others and walked into the bathroom. Kira put a gun on the sink, so it would be easy to access and proceed to get the blood off her coat and face. Luckily, since the blood frozen on the way here, instead of clotting on the clothing, it was easier to get it off. Not the smell, but at least some of it.

Sawaka had made herself busy, retrieving the remains of her own shotgun, and the pieces of the other. While neither was functional by itself there was no problem that couldn't be solved with a little cannibalization of existing parts in the end. She'd taken the various pieces with her and had also been sure to go about gathering up shell casings if only to prevent them being tracked from scene to scene. All of this was after kicking the body of the thoroughly killed nanny off of her. And the blood still stained her coat until she'd spent the better part of half an hour running it through water. All of this led to a very unhappy but very well-focused neko sitting in her own little corner of the room with the parts of each shotgun laid out before her in their disassembled glory.

With the whole and working stock of one in one hand, and the firing pin of the other in her other hand, Sawaka looked at the others in the room with still disguised jade green eyes. Why was she still disguised? Perhaps because she couldn't shake the feeling that at least one or two members of this outfit would be perfectly happy to put a round in the back of her skull if they were told to, and a little disguise to ease the psychological aversion to nekos they all seemed to have in varying degrees couldn't hurt. Besides, one could never be too confident in the locks on hotel and motel doors these days.

"We're using an infant as a hostage to get somebody's cooperation?" Sawaka wrinkled her nose, and she didn't say it but 'How very Nepleslian' might be heard unspoken, to some.

As she worked on assembling a relatively "new" shotgun for use, she quickly glanced up from her work again.

"Can we have a hint at what the building is?" She paused and nearly fluttered her eyes for dramatic effect, "Pretty please?"

"Yes, and yes," the little Delsaurian replied to the both of them.

"Like I mentioned, we're not the first ones here, and they did do their homework - this one they cased, and she's a pushover," he remarked in regards to the mother. "At the same time, she's smart enough to know that she can't call for help. Not with the ones in charge of this area anyways." The implication of this was chilling, and also telling of who or what they were dealing with here. Slavery was already a sensitive, dangerous line of work, but Nekovalkyrja? There was simply no better way to up the ante. "Really though, what we want to get into, is the auction that was scheduled." Changing the topic fast, he asked, "Have you looked out the windows lately? Don't answer that actually. But did you see any drones? Unusual, for just a little something inserted into their system to keep them down for so long, right?" His tone of voice became much more serious.

"At a mansion nearby, they're holding a party. An important one - a big one - and they don't want anything going wrong, or to even look like there's something wrong, understand? Those of you that dreamed of sneaking into fancy parties, doing secret agent stuff and such, this is it." There was a knock on the door, and, they heard Nacon giggle. A fat, little, pudgy alien lizard, giggle.

"It's her, I see her! It's all safe, so go ahead and let her in!"

As Nacon spoke, Kira re-emerged, putting her coat back on. The blood was no more, thanks to super-space modern cleaning devices and chemicals. Kira reminded herself to actually carry those on her in the future. As there was knock on the door Kira, took out her pistol and screwed the silencer on. She looked at other, but no one seemed to go for the doors. They all waited for someone else to do it. The Kuznietski woman sighed and put her hand with pistol behind her thighs, so it won't be easy to see from the doorway.

"Ah yes, let poor Kira do everything. Kill evil nanny, feed baby, clean clother, be a doorwoman. Kira's life is too hard, oh yes." She joked quietly to not be heard over the doors. She slowly opened the door from the side, expecting someone to be ready to fire a burst through the door themselves. That is why you do not stand behind them when you open. She only let a narrow line open to see who was behind the door, ready to let that person in, if she was female and alone.
