Re: [Preparations] Mission 1: Suit Up and Launch, Frame Runners!

'Ismat headed to one of the remaining VANDRs at the order to get ready to launch, watching everyone else get into their's first. She climbed in, sitting calmly inside for a few moments, getting used to the feel. A deep breath. It didn't feel too bad. She linked herself up to the VANDR, feeling it come to life around her.

Hi there. You ready?... Good!

Re: [Preparations] Mission 1: Suit Up and Launch, Frame Runners!

Once inside the entry plug, Zus sat down in the chair. it was indeed rather comfortable. After a few moments, the plugs began to snake their way into her entry ports, and she was soon connected to the biomachine. She could feel a presence tickling at the back of her mind; this suit was much more lively than the one she had trained in. Hello there little one. she thought to the machine, and it tickled her with a sensation similar to happiness. She could feel it in her mind, trying to figure out what kind of person she was, and how it should best set itself up for her use. My, aren't you the inquisitive one? she asked it, and something akin to mild shyness could be felt. Do not worry, little one. I am glad that you enjoy learning. I think I shall name you. Paralovi, after one of the Makuori saints. The next feeling was something like a nod, and then happiness. it seemed the ANIOS liked the name. Well then, Paralovi, We must get ready. Hopefully, this mission will be simple. another feeling that could be associated with a nod, and the conversation calmed down for the moment, Paralovi still trying to set herself up to be as best as possible for Zus.

Re: [Preparations] Mission 1: Suit Up and Launch, Frame Runners!

The first sortie with a new wing is always the most troublesome. Luckily, Ea Wing reported that Ghoroun was free of any suspicious activity, so this should go just as planned. Serhan shook the assistant drone a little and nodded to himself quietly. He wasn't attempting to harm the drone for any reason, but felt that since his eyes couldn't focus on it for him to speak to it properly, he should find some other way to catch its attention. "Marranr Serhan Nejem. Take me to my VANDR."

The drone only made a small electronic chirp and complied, bringing the visually impaired runner to his unit, a white bodied and blue-crested, but otherwise stock So-M1. It was a machine fit for a Wing Commander, but clean and undecorated, unlike the garish and aggressively schemed frames of aces of the current age.

Serhan preferred it if that he would not be associated to that clade, and the white scheme was ideal for winter missions. The man was as always, a pragmatist.

He stepped into the cockpit, slipped into the seat as he had done thousands of times before. Small entry plugs pressed themselves against his linksuit, and as the organic material shifted to allow the interface system through, extended tendrils through his body's entry ports. His last conscious sensations were those of the the cockpit becoming progressively darker as the opening shut, of the smell of prajna as it began to pool at his feet. As always.

<<Solan Starworks>> [ANIOS] Type 2: VANDR Control Assist Natural Intelligence Operating System... Welcome, Marranr Nejem.

"You have control."

As always. He thought to himself, gradually moving his unit's limbs until he felt comfortable. He could practically belly-dance as soon as all of the right lines were connected, but he'd grown a little cautious after a Mechanist at a previous assignment had reset his NI's motion calibrations, and forgot to re-enable the actual calibration functioning. The results were less than impressive.

"Display internal telemetry from Bahram Wing on HUD. Monitor pilot biometrics, pilot coordinates and plotted flightpaths." He communicated to the VANDR, as it finally stood up and began powering up all of its systems. This wasn't a scramble, so they could take things easy, for now. "Send patrol navpoints to Bahram Wing. Prioritize points Dom, Enact, Spearhead and Raptor on the course."

"Inform the station we're leaving in eight minutes. Just another day, partner. No reasons to ruin it with a sappy serenade." The Frame Officer finished, relaxing his control and allowing his ANIOS to take care of keeping him upright.

"Roger! Roger!"

Re: [Preparations] Mission 1: Suit Up and Launch, Frame Runners!

A small map came up in Mu'Tasim's vision, and the patrol path along with the prioritized points came up clearly. Most of the communications came up in text form, which caused him to realize how distracting that was.

Can you speak?

Code:
Yes!
Was what came on the screen.

Then why don't you?

Code:
Request Voice Parameters: Gender, Accent, Pitch, Intonation.
Hmm... I don't really feel to concerned about that, but something with a little command, deepness, resonance. Something in that area.

Code:
Processing...
Acceptable? asked Famasir.

Yes, good Famasir. Now, what is our time to launch. The Guard praised the ANIOS, glad it had nailed his preference on the first shot.

Eight Minutes.

Mmm, Famasir, give me the Wing's pilot and organoid biometrics and keep their positions clearly labeled for me. I need to know when to assist and desist. Mu'Tasim said firmly.

Done. said Famasir as the squadron's information came on screen. Mu'Tasim nodded his head, his VANDR responding in turn. He looked around, seeing the Marranr active next to him. He did not speak, instead, looked to the rest of the VANDRs that were getting ready for action. Finally, the he looked forward, resting within the VANDR, his ANIOS picking up the slack.

Re: [Preparations] Mission 1: Suit Up and Launch, Frame Runners!

Shokhi mused slightly as the patrol navpoints came up. He was finding it very odd, the sense of... shared consciousness... he was experiencing. He wondered briefly if it was anything like dreamwalking, though he was quite certain it was not, and then snapped his focus back to the information the Marranr had sent.

"I suppose... you will need a name."

There was a vague sense of affirmation returned to him. Shokhi had never placed a great deal of importance on the names of things. It seemed that his VANDR picked up on that trait quite readily. But affirmation was always affirmation, whether vague and slightly indifferent or forceful and self-assured. And Shokhi sifted through his mind for a suitable name.

"Shaorin. You are Shaorin."

In his mind's eye, Shokhi's tone was quite musing and whimsical. And he received a stronger sense of affirmation in response this time.

"Well then, Shaorin. We have a task before us. If you could maintain a close monitor on the positions of the rest of the Wing at all times, I would appreciate it."

His answer was a ticking feeling that felt suspiciously like a laugh. And in the back of his subconscious, Shokhi smiled. Shaorin, it seemed, would be a fine companion. Far easier to deal with than the others. More friendly, too. There was only the launch order to come. Shokhi found that he was trilling with excitement - there wasn't the slightest touch of nervousness anywhere in his mind.

Re: [Preparations] Mission 1: Suit Up and Launch, Frame Runners!

As the navpoints and the various data associated with them began showing up overlayed onto her vision, Revoan noticed that names began to pop up over her wingmate's VANDR units. Parolovi, Famasir, Shaorin. There wasn't any real pattern there she could detect. The young Sund Wakir girl had spent a lot of time since joining the Vanguard about what she would name her own Erla VANDR when she got the chance. There was a story she remembered from her childhood about a sarngika who almost died protecting her nest and children from a fire that ravaged her home. Muna herself happened to pass by and saw this bird's vigilance in the face of danger. The saint then calmed the fire down and blessed the injured mother to join her in her dreams when she passed on and be a reminder to all of the bravery one should use when facing down that which threatens.

Jarita was the name of the noble bird in the tale, and the name that Reovan gave to her organoid unit. As she finished synchronizing with the NI, the desert-born girl no longer saw herself as one of two inside the Frame, but that she and it were one and the same. A sarngika about to fly through the snow and the stars. How fitting it was that the two were so far from their natural environment.

Outside of the warm containment of the prajna-filled cockpit, the VANDR and Sund Wakir marriage Jarita looked around the hanger and tested out it's various joints, flaring it's back ailerons and flight stabilizers to make sure that everything was working properly. Once she was happy with the way all of her new and extended body was reacting, Reovan signaled that she was ready to sortie as soon as the order was given. She began to check out the conditions on the status just outside the hanger. As soon as the go-ahead came, she planned to burst out and see who would challenge her speed.

Re: [Preparations] Mission 1: Suit Up and Launch, Frame Runners!

Savitar relaxed in his VANDR, his systems booted up and ready to go once the order to scramble was given. He hadn't addressed his AI to give it a bond function just yet, his display showing the same thing Reovan's did: the names over the other VANDR units of the rest of the wing. But in his mind he was ready to go and make a dynamic exit to begin the mission. He'd bring up Reovan on his communications, over a private frequency. "You ready? This brings back memories doesn't it? Out in the desert... on liftcycles..." he teased her a bit.

Re: [Preparations] Mission 1: Suit Up and Launch, Frame Runners!

Using Shamshir's optics, Malik hopelessly looked around the hangar for Khiyai Sarzhad, with no avail in finding her. Apparently, it wasnt her shift, and she was probably still mad at him. Sighing, Malik focused back on the mission outline. A small map popped up near the right bottom of his field of view, showing all the mission waypoints.

"Dom, Enact, Spearhead, and Raptor. It's our task, Shamshir, to make sure no VANDR in the wing is damaged. Think you can handle that, old friend?" Feelings of eagerness, tinged with a slight whisk of hotbloodedness, were Mal's answer. Suddenly realising that his 'partner' lacked any voice, Mal smiled, something coming to mind in his mind.

"Hey buddy, how about a voice for you that sounds fierce, yet loyal, with a fiery noble passion to it!" Shamshir automatically went to work , the NI trying to develop a voice to fit it's pilot's specifications.

"Will this do, partner?" Malik beamed, hearing his VANDR's selected voice. "Shamshir. That's. That's ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!"

Oh yes. It seemed that this VANDR, Shamshir, and it's idiot pilot, Malik Rashidan, were made for each other.

Re: [Preparations] Mission 1: Suit Up and Launch, Frame Runners!

'Ismat watched the new information roll in, and also noticed that others were beginning to name their VANDRs. Hehe, already up to that fun eh? I suppose I should get to getting you a bit more prepared as well then. She opened up her mind to more embrace the VANDR's consciousness, showing it the way she had set up her old units. She had had plenty of experience with VANDRs prior to Bahram to know what she how she liked them set up.

I suppose you'll want a name too?... Hmm... I'm never good with names. I'll think of one, I promise!

At the moment, she left voices off. It would make for less chatter in her ear if it came to a fight and it would be easier to focus. Well, focus on making sure she wasn't going beyond what she was supposed to be showing.

Re: [Preparations] Mission 1: Suit Up and Launch, Frame Runners!

Zalus jogged over to what he figured to be his VANDR and climbed up into it. As he interfaced with the Frame he relaxed to make the connection easier. "Well what shall we call you my dear... Nara? How do you like that?" Zalus felt a wave of happiness come from the machine. "Well Nara why don't you bring up the nav points and give yourself a nice delicate voice. The last thing I want in combat is someone yelling at me." Zalus disengaged the VANDR from it's mount and took a step forward.

Re: [Preparations] Mission 1: Suit Up and Launch, Frame Runners!

"I don't think you remember half as well as I do," Reovan responded to the Curdatl's teasing, "Because if you did, you'd remember the taste of my sand." The Sund Wakir girl laughed as Jarita knelt down and flared its engines, making her intentions on racing out of the hanger obvious to everyone. "You'll have to tell me if snow in your face tastes any different," she teased Savitar back over the same channel.

Re: [Preparations] Mission 1: Suit Up and Launch, Frame Runners!

"How do you know that wasn't my intent to start with, it's not always the first off the line who wins." Savitar cackled back to Reovan over the private channel. He had his VANDR Assume a "ready" stance and flared his engines in response to her challenge. "You'll be the one seeing snow babe." Savitar said to her, "I mean who the hell do you THINK I AM?!" he laughed over the comm. "As I remember it, I had you gasping at my skill."

>> Generating Bahram Wing internal network... all lines connected...

>> Wing subsystem analysis readings... nominal...

"Ready to launch, partner!" The familiar of his ANIOS announced to him. He couldn't quite remember why he'd picked a female voice that combined such a harsh aristocratic accent and extremely lively intonation, but he supposed that he must have had stranger tastes in his youth.

"Request flight control for permission to launch." He communicated to the voice, as his unit began to take slow steps towards the still closed hangar doors.

"Roger that, partner!"
