"Shaun, we may be slow, but it doesn't mean we can't break gravity. That, and the Yggdrasil has a stronger shield. From my readouts, we are far enough away to not worry about the star." Kenji told him, sighing.

"Low stable polar orbits are bad for animal and plant life..." Lyshana says, with a sigh, over the com "Permission to be on the investigative team?"

"...Granted as long as both you and Eve wear environmental suits or Power Armor...be VERY careful, and take a shuttle."

It was then Toshiro sighed...Lyshana was very lucky he'd seen far enough ahead to modify some environmental suits to contain her wings...

Shaun leaned back in his chair sighing as Eve nodded to Toshiro through the view screen "Should be easy enough Captain. We'll be careful down there."

Spinning in his chair to face the monitor he spoke in a serious tone "Don't let your guard down out there Eve."

It was at that moment the ships picked up something strange...a radio transmission of some kind...it was weak, but Yggdrasill managed to boost the signal, and they heard voices, in a language that they nor PANTHEON had ever heard before...

"Shaun, belay that order and assist us in triangulating that signal...we'll burst into FTL into a different point in the system and track the source. You remain stationary and do the same calculations...where the lines cross in 3-D space is the origin...understood?"

"Copy that!" Shaun said quickly spinning around to his own console. "Eve see if you can patch yourself into the ship and boost our sensors. Ken, keep us steady here and help Eve if you can."

Eve nodded to Shaun and sat down at her station, quickly scanning through readouts of data the transmission was sending.

After some analysis, Yggdrasill managed to hone in on the direction of the transmission, and the signal got that much clearer.

In an alien tongue never before heard by the spacefarers, a transmission played.

"...I don't know what that was, but it was certainly intelligent."

"Sounds like if we make contact, we better be very careful. Especially if what sounds like a war just ended." Kenji said, sighing.

"Please send us your calculated transmission vector, Leviathan...or send your data for Yggdrasill to calculate. For all we know, that could be a very old message...and don't make such assumptions, ken. We know nothing of their language."

Toshiro said, running the calculations on his side...

"Sending calculations now." Ken replied, punching a button and sending them over. "I'm gonna double check them, but I believe those to be the numbers.

"Calculating triangulation...got it...it's coming from 35 LY away, about 30 degrees from us in relation to straight Galactic North...our Star Maps don't really go out that far...I say we go for it. Opinions? Objections?"

Toshiro asked, somewhat excited...

"I have no problem with it, sir, but I approve of checking this planet before we continue. We might find something else interesting," Aendri said, looking at the data as it came through.

"I dunno bout goin planetside, man.. if they have something tha' can kill us an get angry, that somethin'll prolly be on the ground. This other thing seems smaller, more friendly. Les' go for it!" the eager Yamataian interjected. OOOhhhh.... Sumthin' new Shinji thought, getting rather excited once again. he was waiting to figure out what it was, like a child with a present on his birthday.

"We have a few options here Captain." Shaun said as he looked over figures on his console. "We've got two ships. We could risk splitting up long enough to give the planet below some looking over while the others check out the transmission. Or head out all together to check on the transmission or simply avoid it all together."

Looking at the screen Shaun quickly spun around in his chair to face the screen. "In the end its really up to you Captain. I have no objections either way."

"A good idea...those who want to explore the planet and the system, go to Leviathan. If you want to explorethis radio transmission...you can come to Yggdrasill. Leviathan, be ready to abort and come if contacted, understood? You never know what we'll find."

He said, preparing to move, and having Yggdrasill record and analyze the radio signals.

"Yggdrasill will scan and work on translating the radio broadcasts. Hopefully 35 years of radio data we record en route will allow us to figure the language out to a degree."

"I will stay with the Yggdrasil sir," Aendri said, thinking hard. "And is anyone on board a language specialist?"

"Uhhh, I'm stickin' with th' Ygg, if thas okay with you, commie" Shinji said. "Jus lemme go an put away my explosives accessories so's I'm less threatening, or sumthin" The Yamataian added, getting up and wandering towards the room so he could offload the small bits that made his explosives work.

"I'm thinking the Yggdrasill would have to fill that role...and perhaps act as a translator through our communicators...once we have a basic understanding, those of us who are Yamataian or Nekovalkryja MAY be able to download the data into our brains...but that'll take some time and analysis."

"What about you? Lyshana? Eve? Ken? Shaun?"

"I wouldn't mind coming to find out about the radio transmissions, but who will pilot The Levi?" Ken asked, really itching to go see this other world.

"Gomen Nasai, Ken-san...it seems we can't all have the assignments we want...Eve and Lyshana seem to want to go down to the planet below, and Shaun needs someone to help man the ship...and besides, you must stay with your own vessel."

Toshiro said, apologetically.

"Everyone use shuttles and swap personnel. Make it orderly, people."
