RP: YSS Genesis [Episode One] All the Queen's Men

The Rather tame bar was also rather generic, but then again if it was something exciting or extravagant it probably would have been much less tame. "Pat's Taps" was written in green neon over the entrance, which was a simple swinging metal-framed glass door with some decals and hours of operation on it. the facade was fairly standard, a bit Nepleslian and slightly industrial feeling, but the inside seemed to be a nice, welcoming place, decorated with lots of wood, and some knicknacks on the walls. Several televisions hung from the ceiling, each playing a different sport, though the largest screen seemed to be showing something that was quite possibly Rugby. The booths, mostly empty, housed a few young looking people, just hanging out with friends, and the bar seemed to be slightly lacking in patrons. However, there were no signs of tall blonde men wearing SAoY uniforms. In fact, the only uniform they could see was a man wearing a dirty Paragon uniform, though he seemed to be content with being left alone with his mug of ale and meal that was probably fish and chips, though not much of it was left.

The Bartender looked up, and smiled, Greeting the two as they entered. "Good evening, what can I get you two?" this man was apparently Pat, and he sported a green plaid golf cap which covered mousy brown hair, and went well with the toothpick in the corner of his mouth.

************

The first Gun Store Shinon and Yoko came across was a tiny hole-in-the-wall joint, which appeared to have been erected in the alleyway between two properly constructed buildings. Slightly shorter than its neighbors and very narrow, its ancient-sounding owner mewled something from the back of the store that was quite possibly a greeting. About halfway down the store, behind a shelf containing boxes of ammo, the hem of a black coat could be seen, not too different from the one the SAoY had recently begun issuing its soldiers.

Yumeko had followed along and listened even while her eyes and face were roaming around. "Sure, why not?" she replied when pointed out the bar. Upon entering the bar she looked even harder to see if their missing pilot was ducking in a dark corner. Upon being addressed by the bartender Yumeko then looked at him and smiled back.

"Hey how's it goin'? We're lookin' for a guy in a Star Army uniform. Tall, blonde, mighta been wearin' glasses. See anyone like that pass through here?" Yumeko quickly asked before becoming fixated on the sports match.

"Oh oh what's playin'? What league is it? Which teams on? What's the score?" she rattled off even faster.

Shinon was curiously looking around herself. Her nepleslian blood was letting itself be heard. There were guns and ammo all around. Luckily for Shinon, she was also half Yamataian and remained composed. She also noticed a hem of black coat the might have been Yamatain issued.

She started walking towards the coated person to have a better look. It might be their guy, or it can be just Yamatai soldier on holiday or Dawn Citizen who just likes short coats.

"Ha! Don't tell me we found the guy already!" Yoko loudly proclaimed. She quickly walked through the, until then, quiet gun store and started marching right over to the person proudly. "Ey! You with the black coat, aren't ya supposed to be ova at the Genesis?" The Geshrin asked, leaning forward in an attempt to get a better look at this person's face.

"If yous him, we can gets some cawfee on the way back." she spoke up some more, bribing lady luck with the offer of a hot drink.

Rüd chuckled, but laid one of his lower arms on Yumeko's shoulder. "Let's stay focused. You can worry about the sports later."

He took another look around, and seeing no solid leads, moved to the bar. "Tender, have you seen any Star Army soldiers in here recently? Long blond hair, aviator shades maybe?"

"Can't say I have" Pat responded to the Abwehran. "Did see a couple of 'em the other day, but they're regulars from the little garrison and don't match your description any." He then leaned forward, motioning to Yumeko "It's Kennewes U versus Kyoto, Kennewes is givin' 'em a pounding though, so I hope you didn't have any bets on this one" The man straightened up and chuckled a bit, before turning back to Rued. "If it helps at all, new people usually go to the bigger bars or the nicer restaurants, since they're easier to find."

*********

"Huh, wha?" the black-coated person sputtered, dropping whatever they were looking at. It clunked to the ground, and then the person quickly made their exit "I wasn't tryin' to steal anything, honest!" came a gruff voice from within the coat. For the brief few moments they could see him, they could tell the man wasn't who they were looking for- he was short and had black hair, and while he did have aviators on, they were about as dark as his hair, not the golden ones Miss Merkur had described. Apparently, this first 'lead' was nothing but a dud.

Yumeko looked at the Abwehran. "Heeeeey ah already asked him that. Yer livin' up ta ya namesake there Rude, uh, Rudder, er Rudy... uhh-"

She was stuck trying to pronounce his name for a moment when the bartender saved her. "Wha-? Those Kennewes bums are beatin' Kyoto!?" she gasped before looking back at the screen. "Booooo! Come ON Kyoto, whatcha doin' out there?!" she then shouted at the screen.

The Nightwalker only smirked at Yumeko's jibe. He did however reiterate the need for focus, and gently guided her away from the TVs. "We have a job. You can watch replays later." Then, to Pat, "Thanks for the advice."

Needless to say, Yoko wasn't happy. Though they stopped a shoplifter, did she really care? No. "Great...wrong douche." she muttered, arms now crossed. The Geshrin sighed and looked at Shinon. "Well, my idea was a bust - ya gots anything in that brain of yours goil?" She asked the Yamataian. "Somethin tells me guis like him are a dime a dozen, yaknow?" Yoko pointed out.

"I don't think this is gonna be easy no more."

Shinon though about catching the guy, but she had no legal force here on Dawn Station. Also he did not really took anything and she would be unable to prove it, but she did disliked it. It would serve him right to spend few nights in the join. Having father in police made her think like that. Law was there for a reason after all.

"Well I like to think, that this head of my ain't completely empty." She answered with smile. "Well I dunno, there are plenty places to go. How about some strip joint? This guy looks like douche, he might just go watch titties." She answered and shrugged. She was actually never in place like, but that would not stop her.

As Rued guided Yumeko out of the bar, they might catch a glimpse of a tall, blonde man wearing an SAoY pea-coat. He could be seen stuffing a duffel into a taxi, before hopping in himself, at which point automated vehicle began speeding away, destination unknown.

*********

"Are you gonna buy something....?" The ancient voice mewled after Shinon and Yoko, as they stood talking in the shop. From where they were they could see a very small, old Nepleslian man, with wiry white hair sticking up in tufts from the top of his head, wearing extremely thick, round glasses, and sporting a set of jowls that would make a basset hound jealous. He seemed to be attempting to examine the two women but didn't want to get up from his creaky old chair- apparently a keepsake from a past home, since most everything else they'd encountered on Dawn was less than two years old.

There. Blond, in Star Army gear, and carrying a duffel- that was a strong lead. Correction a strong, elusive lead: the blond in question had just claimed a taxi and was driving away.

Rüd fished out his DataJockey and shot a message to Sierra.
I have a taxi northbound on Wester Street. I need it stopped.

"Yumeko, that taxi." he pointed and began to jog. "It should be coming to a stop any second now."

"Aww those lousy Kenners gotta be cheatin' or somethin'!" Yumeko grumbled as she was led out of the bar. She was too busy grumbling about the game to notice their quarry escape on a taxi. Then she got pushed.

"Yumeko, that taxi." he pointed and began to jog. "It should be coming to a stop any second now."

"Huh? Wha? Oh yeah lets get that bum!" Yumeko enthusiastically shouted and began running along with the Abwehran.

"Sorry old timer. We's just lookin for someone." the Geshrin apologized to the gun store owner. Next on the list, a strip club; an environment that she was all to familiar with. Thinking back, there were lots of fellas that looked just like this guy when she was working at one herself. She turned to look at the old man again. "Ey, there any popular strip joints around hea?"

Yoko hoped the old man didn't die of a heart attack or something.

Shinon looked at that old. Man she then bowed a little to show respect. She then looked around properly for the first time. THe nepleslian blood in her began boiling as she saw all the guns around. Origin and nepleslian alike.

"Sorry mister, we are just looking for someone. But since I am already here, I will get Silver Special in Gunmetal black, with black hoslter and ammo pouch, box of ammo and magazines to fill the pouches, plus answer to my collegues question." She said and smiled that old-timer.

"Huh? Stripper clips? I think I have a box of those around here somewhere..." the old man started, getting up off of his ancient chair and hobbling around, before he heard Shinon's request. "Ah, yes, young man, I'll get that for you, just a second." The old man wasted no time in pulling an extremely large ring of keys out of seemingly nowhere, before sliding part of his counter out of the way (he was much stronger than his tiny decrepit frame suggested), and pulling everything Shinon asked for out of a cabinet that he unlocked (it was a rather loud process, as the keys shook and jangled with every tiny tremble of his hands, which was frequent) before re-locking the cabinet (more jangling) and making his way back behind the counter. He piled the wares almost haphazardly before bringing out a pen and pad of paper, and doing some quick bookkeeping, and looking up at Shinon.

"That will be exactly one thousand DA, young man. Or 500 KS, doesn't matter, we take both here." his hoarse and mewling voice trickled out in the time it would have taken Yoko to complete several lengthy conversations. He then looked over at Yoko, and adjusted his glasses. "Oh, I'm sorry, ma'am, I forgot that I haven't gotten any new shipments of stripper clips in a while, so I don't have any."

************
Sierra replied rather quickly to Rued's request, in the same manner he had messaged her- a text.
I'll see what I can do.

She didn't write much, but, it was apparent from the fact that the taxi didn't stop that she didn't quite have the authorities to stop it. However, instead, Rued got a second Text message

I can't stop it, but I can get you a map of where it's going. I've contacted my sister, she will bring a vehicle so you guys can follow it."

As she stated, a map showing not only the nearest, but the next three destinations of the taxi, appeared on Rued's Datapad.

Not more than a minute later, a Versa Light Utility Vehicle rumbled up to Rued and Yumeko's position, sounding a bit louder than any other vehicle of the type Rued had ever previously encountered. It was obviously the combustion-powered model, and its driver- A girl with long, brown hair and glasses that seemed vaguely familiar, if framed in red instead of black- was obviously Sierra's sister.

She leaned over, and opened the driver door, before pushing a button somewhere within the car, which popped the rear hatch. the fact that the vehicle only had two seats and looked somewhat cramped hinted that the girl wanted Rued to sit in the cargo area in back, an idea that was confirmed by a volumetric text bubble which originated from apparently nowhere.

Code:
"Get in, Big guy in the back, and hang on, we're beating that thing to its destination."

The engine revved to show that the driver was serious, sounding more like a roar than the usual humming or purring noise most modern vehicles seemed to make.

Shinon grinded her teeth. She sometimes got this response when she wore over-coat, which she did not right now. She took a deep breath, slowly thinking of her answer. She slowly checked all the things, old man put on the counter. Everything seemed to be in order, and old man even gave her fair price.

"Sure," she responed, when she was told the ammount to pay. She took out her moneycard, swapped it and put even 100 KS extra s a tip. "Here you go, and get your eyes checked with the money grandpa. I am obivously a woman." She said and straightened up, puffing her chest with well shaped pair of Bs.

Yoko snickered.

"N-nah, I'm good pops. Thanks foa askin." the Geshrin woman replied with a bit of difficulty. This...this was funny. In fact, it was likely impossible for Yoko to let Shinon live this down. Ever. "Still pops, you know where there's a strip club around? I said strip club, not stripper clips yaknow." She glanced at Shinon with a malicious grin.

"My boyfriend and I are looking foa a good time, yeah?"

Yumeko jumped in to ride shotgun and let out a whoop. "C'mon baby let's head 'em off at the pass! Get in Rudy!"

Rüd delivered his signature smirk and clambered in, pulling the hatch down behind his bulky form. It was cramped, he being so tall and broad. The Nightwalker was forced to hunch over; one meaty hand lay on his head, preparing for the inevitable bump into the ceiling.

"Alright, ladies, let's go!"
