LSDF Val'ta, Virtual Space

Helmet's blank stare met with the lorath woman. It scanned the room, hiding any possible surprise about the fact that the inside was bigger than the outside. The surrounding space was virtual so anything was possible really. Knight wondered for a bit, if the space always looked like this, or if the AI made it look like this, because of what his existence down on Tange was. Cottage was a cottage and it would always be a pleasant thing, had Knight bothered himself with such things.

"I will update my things later," The robot masked as a knight said with a nod. "Thank you for the welcome, I would like apply for credentials so I can use your communication lines. I have talked with Captain Porrim and require assistance in contact Nepleslian officials."

Ny'za examined the course and smiled, she was no fitness nut but she always appreciated a good work out and this would do that and more. She put Rhiq down and let him go his own way, he had no intention of doing the course, but he wanted to see what it looked like so he went to climb the highest spot he could to get a better look. Ny'za on the other hand made her way to the walls, waiting to make sure there was space before inserting herself into the line.

The walls would be easy to do normally at least since she was starting there and full of energy. So she stepped on the first wall and used it as a launching plat form to hop up onto the second. Her landing a little less than perfect, but her large wings spread out quickly to balance her. She had no momentum though and no finesse to do something like run along the wall and jump from a side approach so she did a simple cat leap from the middle and caught the wall, pulling herself up. Once cleared she when through the horizontal bars, she had no tricks of fancy moves and just passed through simply and cleanly following the arrows , with one transition of a little fancier swinging from and under bar and throwing herself over one that she was told to pass over to catch the bar after it.

Now it came to the sort of rock climb wall, this is was something she had never done before, even despite the mountain on Yabeu, she decided to take it slow, but push herself, going for the harder to grab holds to make sure she was getting the most out of it.

Akemi crossed his arms and shook his head at the floor as if Porrim had passed up a golden opportunity. "I just asked the captain and naturally she was super mean and said no. I mean gosh, she's all upset just because I asked one of the Lorath if I could have an unfertilized egg. They regularly lay them whether they want to or not anyway, why let them go to waste? You girls ever eaten one? If you want anything while you're here give me a mental message and I'll see if I can help you out."

When Ashlinn looked to Mirage for backup, the Fyunnen opted to merely smile not quite wanting to diffuse the scenario at the moment. After all it was nice to see the crew interacting in a relaxed manner compared to how things had gone so far. Admittedly some racial biases had made their initial interactions stiff, and there was some regret that her animosity had been directed toward the male Neko rather than the Nepleslian who had threatened mutiny on Tange. For now though all she could do was try and do better in the future. For now, that consisted of letting the other women interact with the amusing display of Nepleslian romance that she was presented with.

For the moment at a loss for amusing quips to add she settled for nodding to the Captain in acknowledgement, as she fulfilled her present role as a wallflower.

The view Ash caught of what the Val'ta was doing as it passed through the planets atmosphere was pretty awesome, and she actually seemed to get lost in it for a little while before she brought her attention back towards the present, in which she'd glanced back to Mirage as the large Fyunnen woman merely smiled her way. That elicited a stuck out tongue towards Mirage, and Porrims comment about if someone was kidding made her blink before she dropped off into a seat and stretched out, extricating herself from the conversation as smoothly as sandpaper against a rock. All thing considered she felt relaxed as she glanced out at the view of stars once they cleared the planet itself.

The woman standing before Knight's avatar raised her hand. "Ah, yes. I was notified. Porrim says you assisted her in a rescue. She's quite grateful for the assistance." The ARIA's raised hand clenched, and her arm could be seen becoming wireframe for a split second - intricate appearance faltering and reminding Knight that he was in an artificial space. Her hand opened, and in it was a key. She passed it to him. "The other Nepleslian seems less cooperative, but perhaps he needs to settle in."

Why the symbolism and display? Well, because the ARIA could, and perhaps it'd gotten some dramatic flair from being around the strong personalities on the helm. That, or perhaps she was playing to what she knew of Knight's sensibilities. Whatever the case, she seemed to be playing to him. "Be civil when you make your call," Val'ta ARIA raised a caution, "we did have some loggerheads before about a Marine on our ship in the past." She rolled her eyes at the ceiling, sighing. "Should be water under a bridge now though."

Of course, the call might take a while, so she shrugged her shoulders and asked Knight a question. "Tea? Cookies? Byte to eat?" Her harsher tone before suddenly turned casual as she ran a hand through the back of her white hair. The ARIA personified walked over to the kitchen and opened the fridge, shut it, and looked into a pantry. Peering into it from where Knight was standing, there seemed to be a larger interior to the pantry which went on for much longer than it appeared, just like the rest of the house.

With the LSDF Val'ta out of the Gas Giant and back into space, a short intercom call was made. "We have gathered about two hundred tonnes of assorted gasses." Jil'ha commented over the radio, drumming her nails against the console before continuing. "We're sorting through it all and we're going to be putting it to use in all the right locations around ship to see what we can get out of it. If nothing else, materials stored are there when we need them."

With the dry stuff out of the way, she moved onto more interesting topics. "We also have our first camera feed and recordings of the inside of a gas giant from an occupied spaceship." Jil'ha said matter-of-factly, uninterested in the topic, but one of the other bridge people insisted on sharing it. "We're probably going to donate it to a museum, to science, or a power metal band's green screen. We're now going to resume regular flight towards the uncharted system South-East of Miyamae."

Porrim nodded back towards Mirage, flashing a smile her way. "Anyway, dry stuff," she clapped her hands together in front of Aran'ya, "so tell me what you're working on. I heard you were a biologist of some sort." The captain leaned forward on the counter and engaged with her crew. Her crew explored different frontiers to Porrim and she could respect that, since they found wonder in them too. Or other things.

Ursula meanwhile was willing to serve more guests, looking around and waiting for more people to serve. "Everyone's drinks topped up?" She asked J'ann, looking around the room as she nodded at the hardlight display doing its thing. It seemed to be topping people's drinks up and delivering them.

"Ah-kay, Akemi." Emi said, face slinking away with a whine as she slunk out of view. "We'll be sure to let you know, and stuff."
"Ya, ya. We shall find out, both of us." Maya chipped in, trying to cheer Akemi up because they didn't know exactly what Porrim had in for them, or in fact

"We'll be here." Vee replied, taking a couple of steps away from the glass from Akemi.

"So," Vee transmitted to her sisters, glancing between them impishly without saying a word while Akemi watched her, "who wants to play Ogres and Oubliettes?"
The replies she got back "Again?" "Naww." "Vee, we don't wanna." "We already finished all the adventure books." "We minny maxied it and blew up suns by accident."

"I got all the new adventure paths from the Data Strip." Vee replied to them all. "We have access to recreational stuff, just nothing which needs an ongoing online connection, and if I recall correctly, O&O adventure paths are one download and that's it."

Suddenly, to something unknown to Akemi, all of the Neko in the cell, save for Vee, appeared to deflate emotionally and uncoil, laying down on their backs and stomachs, sprawled throughout their rather roomy cell, all heaving a sigh of defeat.

LSDF Val'ta, Deck 6, Launch Deck
Around Ny'za, she could see other soldiers having a go at the same courses she was. Some of them were proving to have their egos be bigger than their abilities. One guy tried running up the wall thinking he could game the simulation, but gravity kept him down. A Lmanel who was trying to negotiate the bars overstepped the middle one and had to roll under the tallest one.

Ahead of her, there seemed to a three-rope woven bridge of some sort, stretched ten feet over something which was supposed to be water, but behaved more like jelly. Ny'za watched a Fyunnen slip from the ropes into it. The landing was soft, but the slog to the other side and up the stairs in two feet of digital jelly with a consistency that made the Fyunnen's wings shiver. Beyond the rope bridge was a series of moving platforms, hanging there in mid-air, raising and lowering themselves.

Below was more of the landing gel, and it appeared that more people had fallen to this one, and standing back to watch would see people misjudging the momentum the platforms had when they stopped suddenly rather than easing and giving a clean break of momentum. Watching for a moment, Ny'za reckoned that you had to anticipate the sudden jerk, and leap from that to reach the other platform.

LSDF Val'ta, Deck 7, Brig

"What happened to you girls?" Akemi asked curiously, placing both hands on the bars and pressing his head right up against them. He suddenly had an urge to poke them with a stick. "Did Vee just win a bet to monopolize me first when you all get out of there? Also, do any of you have tentacles or other Mishhu things?" He'd been thinking about asking that question for a while.

As all things are want to do, the beautiful show outside came to an end and left Ash pouting visibly. For someone quite happy to be in the thick of things, she sure enjoyed the stars, and natural phenomena surrounding star-stuff. In this case, learning this little ship had collected two tons of material off the gas giant made her whistle, 'dry stuff' indeed, She'd raise up a nearby data strip and start prodding it to see if she could requisition a 'visual' display of what they'd just gone through, and possibly if there had been any audio pickups on what they did, she was curious about what a gas giant sounded on the inside. She'd stretch as she got up, "Hey guys, I'm going to head down to the brig and put in some time trying to get the other cats to open up." She'd give one last look out towards the viewport and grinned a bit, She'd have to make plenty of time to do some star gazing when she got a chance. Perhaps she'd been a bit too hasty to get slotted into the infantry instead of the sciences. That thought vanished as fast as it arrived, she couldn't imagine a day without punching -something- in the head, or getting herself beat up. She'd grin towards Mirage, "Try not to cause too much trouble, huh?" Pink tongue popped out as she stuck it out towards Mirage and started to head for the door. Calling up the route to le brig...

LSDF Val'ta, Deck 7, Brig... (Twenty minutes later, Lost kitty was lost... >.> )

The doors to where the NMX Neko's were being kept separated opened as Ash came wandering through, "How in Hanako's glorious battle-hips can sucha small ship be so damned big!?" She was looking at the hard-light map hovering over her hand with a look that was borderline both frustration and possible awe? Oh c'mon -stop- rotating!" Everytime she turned the map would rotate completely with her and of course that just threw her off to no end, mainly because she wasn't experienced with hard-light maps... Or the ship's AI was taking delight in tormenting her... That last part Ash was convinced of.
If Akemi was still lingering about he'd likely have cause the whole tirade at the map as she finally grumbled and tossed the whoel thing up in the air where.... it scattered and vanished, before floating infront of her head announcing 'You've arrived!' and exploding with fanfare noise, then vanishing, "... I'm not sure If that was awesome or if that was taunting me..." Looking towards Akemi she'd blink, "Please tell me you're not hitting on them?"

If Akemi wasn't present, likely the girls were privy to her arrival, fan fare explosion and sigh as she headed towards their cell, "Hey guys, Everything going alright?"

LSDF Val'ta, Deck 7, Brig

Akemi swiftly turned to face Ashlinn. "I am not hitting on them," he replied stolidly, standing straight and stiff. "I am only demonstrating a healthy imagination by being mindful of what could transpire between these bars. I've offered them jobs and and a place to live together when they get out of here. Were you concerned I'd be giving you competition?"

LSDF Val'ta, Deck 7, Brig.

Ash came up short as Akemi rounded on her and declared He wasn't being lecherous. That was a change of pace, given what she'd seen from him as she lifted an eyebrow, Now he started acting professional? That made her roll her eyes dramatically as her inability to take the situation seriously suddenly manifested the same way a teenagers does, "Oh we all know exactly how 'mindful and imaginative' you can be." She'd grin towards him as she glanced past Akemi towards the decidedly depressed Neko's in the cell, "Obviously your offer was pretty depressing, So I don't feel to bad about any competition you're offering. Which... would be zero since, yanno, They're still being processed and it's up to the Captain how we handle them, Hmmn?" She'd tilt back her cap, now emblazoned with the LSDF Val'ta's imagery instead of the standard Star Army insignia and give Akemi a grin, "So, Are you here to actually provide them some friendship and help show them we're more interested in helping them?" There was a loaded question, if ever there was one.

LSDF Val'ta, Deck 6, Launch Deck

Ny'za did not like the look of the next two obstacles, it was as if they were made to challenge her weakest area specifically, balance. She knew a trick for the rope bridge so she spend her time worrying about the platforms.

Once at the bridge she grabbed the sides and spread her wings out fully, it wasn't something that would help most Lorath, but with her larger than average wings she was able to use them to control her balance and keep herself upright as she went across. The next obstacle was the platforms. She got on with no problem and hesitantly made the first transfer as well, things were looking good. However when trying to jump to the third platform, her footing suddenly jerked out from under her, which threw off her jump and in panic her wings spread out, slowing her down even further in air. She tried to grab hold of the platform but her fingers weren't strong enough and she slipped off and feel into the jelly.

LSDF Val'ta, Deck 7, Brig

Akemi defiantly folded his arms across his chest and raised his nose. "Of course I am. I said if they needed anything to just ask, I'm even willing to give my body to such ends. Can you say the same?" A smug look of certain victory crossed his face.

LSDF Val'ta, Deck 3, Lounge

Aran'ya handed her empty glass in to the barkeep for one more good fill of warmth in her bones, crossing her legs as she did so and perched upon the seat near the tipsy Captain Porrim. "Gold paint? Perhaps I shouldn't ask," the fellow L'manel murmured for a second, figuring this was a hint at another one of the officer's rumoured deviancy. Not like the scientist didn't have her own little quirks, of course. Though maybe this was a good time to mention one of her other ideas for materials research...

The line of thought was interrupted momentarily by the sight of Porrim pulling the datacard out of her ample chest, upon receiving a message from Akemi. Widow rolled her eyes a moment as she caught sight of some of the textual conversation going on. "That cat is persistent, I'll give him that... but I wouldn't doom our guests to whatever crazy business schemes he has cooked up in that digital brain of his. My bet's on fast food joint waitresses or porn stars... though maybe they were better off being Mishhu slaves instead of capitalist ones, eh?"

"Speaking of Mishhuvurthyar..." The Trooper fluttered her wings once and took the ball of Pico-Jelly back out into her alabaster hands, getting back on track when the Captain inquired about what she was up to with a slight smile and a nod. "I hope you don't mind, but on Tange I managed to get a hold of some samples of their tentacle poisons. Now... before you get your feathers rankled, I assure you I'm keeping it under strict quarantine in the lab. The Val'ta's well-equipped for this sort of thing, so it's a great test in that respect." Hopefully this bit of positive spin would blunt any ire from Porrim for risking contamination by bringing the substances onboard at all.

The spider-aspected L'manel then started pulling at the blob and distending it into lumpy strands of green. "My first project is to extract the adhesive they can produce to capture victims and place it in a Pico-Jelly suspension of the polymer-type. If my research is accurate, then once exposed to air, the compound should harden very quickly but still have enough tensile strength to stretch and bend, creating effectively a sort of sticky 'webbing'. Since it's in Pico-Jelly, I should also be able to reverse the process, and restore it to the unbonded compound polymer and reuse it several times. Hoping to have it ready to go for our next mission..."

Talking about this stuff seemed to elevate her mood markedly, the normally sarcastic and trite Aran'ya becoming more talkative as she delved into her other prospects which might interest their leader. "I've got another few things cooking, too... the tranquilizer poison Mishhu use might be able to be applied to projectiles or melee weapons and help to incapacitate our enemies, but much more likely it would help in capturing alien fauna alive for study. Got the idea to help ol' Ny'za..." Widow made a fist and clenched it once, to visually symbolize the notion, before then splaying the hand out. "Then there is the digestive acids... I'm having a hard time getting them under control right now, as they look powerful enough to dissolve every organic and composite material I've tested them against. Could come in handy, though, if there's something we can't exactly blast our way through the old fashioned way..."

There was a pause for a moment, as the biochemist leaned in closer and whispered. "Just between you and me, Captain... I was also toying around with the... sensory-enhancing excretions. It's not useful as a weapon, but when applied as a thin film to the surface of an object that contacts the skin, it can be rapidly absorbed and... well, you might want to test the results yourself sometime." This was accompanied by that trademark dark smile, as Aran'ya's free hand with the jelly molded it suggestively into the shape of a stone egg.

Akemi's posturing and the upturn of his nose coupled with the smug reply and grin made As shift as she placed her hands on her hips, adopting an open posture to Akemi's suddenly smug and closed one, "Actually, Yes, I'm fully willing to do exactly that and more if and or when it's ever needed, Unlike you however?" She'd pantomime a finger going into a hole, "MY minds less on gain, and more on friendship." She'd lift an eyebrow at Akemi as her tail flicked back and forth lazily behind her, "Specifically doing what I can to make sure they're happy and comfortable until the Cap'n decides how this is all going to play out." Ash slipped around Akemi, through his personal space and glanced towards the girls and grinned, "Hey, ... whats with the depressed looks...?" She'd glance at Akemi, still certain this was his fault.

Edited: shyte spelling was shyt.

LSDF Val'Ta, Deck 7, Brig

Akemi watched the other Neko's tail sway from side to side. The thought occurred to him that it made the already pleasing view even better. He also wondered what it'd be like to grab. Was it the answer to the Iroma's horn hand holds? "So, does that mean you'd be willing to do the same for your fellow crew members? I think I could use some mood enhancing. I didn't do anything to bum them out, I was just thinking we could raise each other's spirits."

Ash leaned away from the window and then slowly turned to face Akemi while an eyebrow lifted slightly, "I'm open to entertaining and spending time with crew members. And I am certainly not interested in striking up relationships." She shifted to rest one hip against the wall as she tried to puzzle out the sudden shift in conversational topic, "I should have guessed any conversation with you of all people would eventually turn out this way. To amend my previous statement to be a bit clearer: I am not a oversexed Nekovalkyra. Not all of us ooze out of a pod that way, thank the ancestors. Some of us end up with normal priorities, or learn to prioritize. I'm willing to bet my very limited pay that either you're very good at misguiding everyone into thinking you'd rather stick yourself into any open hole. OR. And may the ancestors help us all if I'm right, Very good at fooling us." she'd shrug, "I don't care either way." As serious as she'd been moments ago, that evaporated under her tone of 'who cares?'

After a moment of thoughtful silence after glancing back towards the girls again she'd glance towards Akemi, "Besides, I think you're off limits to me anyways, Your friendly neighborhood spider-girl seems keen on you. Wouldn't want to be accused to trying to poach her... toy?" Lips curled into a wide grin at that.

LSDF Val'ta, Dexk 7, Brig

Akemi immediately bristled and gave Ashlinn an incredulous look of shock. "What, what, she is totally the toy. I'm my own cat. She'd totally be licking my asshole. She'd bury my turds. I wouldn't be the one begging for food. I'd wait off to the side until we were served a treat and she'd have to eat awfully fast or I'd take her portion too. I don't do the grooming, she grooms me."

LSDF Val'ta, Deck 7, Brig

Ash's lips twitched as she watched Akemi bristle, The look of shock. She could -taste- the offended kitty oder in the air, she'd slowly cross her arms and cant her head to the side as her sing-song tone changed to reflect the fact Akemi had just given her ammunition, "Thats not how It looked to me.... You did a loooootta chasin' and she seemed to be doing an aweful lotta putting you in your place. I think you're her kitten and while the owners away the pretty kitties tryinta be aaaawwwlll big'un baaad."

LSDF Val'ta, Deck 3, Lounge
Porrim seemed to be interested in the science applications. She knew that as an exploration vessel, this thing was also fitted to come up with new innovations in the course of the mission and stream them back to the Matriarchy, just as the Matriarchy could stream all the latest technology to it with a Quantum Modem. "Mm, I see, adhesives, tranquillisers, poisons, more on those pesky Mishhuvurthyar I keep hearing about, all good things, Widow~" Porrim nodded as Aran'ya demonstrated with a ball of picojelly.

The Captain had a query once Aran'ya had gotten the outline of her work done. "All this is safely under control? I'm tickled that you're taking initiative and making the most of the Val'ta's stuff, but do look out for your sisters while you work on this." A reasonable question, especially regarding Mishhuvurthyar materials. You could never be too certain after all. "The airlocks are very close to the Science rooms in case you need to dump something."

When the innuendo poured in with the last bit of information regarding Aran'ya's discoveries, Porrim grinned. "My my~ I guess there's a benefit in this for me too~" She gave the scientist a pat on the back, looking over at the bar and raising her hand. "A drink for our budding scientist Aran'ya, please!" She requested, looking at J'ann in particular. As she waited for service to get to it, Porrim made a proposition. "Keep me posted on the ... sensory enhancers. I'd be happy to send you 'test data'~"

Being a bit drunk, she thought there was something funny about that, and begun chortling, hunching over the bar a little and shaking her red face before regaining her composure. "Come on, it sounded funny!"

LSDF Val'ta, Deck 7, Brig
Hearing the sounds of people conversing, the Neko were roused, and the sounds of them coming closer to the windows and bars in little pitter patters and .

"Oh! Its the birdcat!" Emi said, pointing out Ashlinn in particular. The Ex-NMX sounded like she recognised the Yamataian, but 'birdcat' was a new one. Maybe 'cat with birds'?
"Hi Birdcat!" Inoue said, waving behind the safety glass. Webber, Maya, and Akihiko had coalesced into a pile of cat at the window looking at Ashlinn, while Vee was sitting on a bunk bed in the large cell area, waving to her cooly before stretching out on her bunk with her arms behind her head.

"We're pretty kitties too!" Maya piped up speaking against the glass as she eavesdropped on the conversation between the two.
"I'm prettiest kitty!" Akihiko declared, pointing a thumb at herself.
"No, I am!" Maya said, nipping her sister in the ear, holding her down.
"UAH! Maya!" Hijinks ensued.

Ashlinn and Akemi had a very lively audience - or perhaps, they were an audience to the Nekovalkyrja's altercation over who held the title of prettiest kitty. This was very serious stuff for the quintet of abandoned Nekovalkyrja. Vee seemed the least interested, remaining on their bunk.

LSDF Val'ta, Deck 6, Launch Deck
Ny'za's misjudgement had her land in something spongey, mitigating her fall. Whatever she'd landed in was not hardlight though, and she recognised it as a clearer form of Picojelly, kept in place and from flowing everywhere else with a hardlight barrier. The reasoning being a limitation in how quickly hardlight could react to things and affect them in a slower way - having to do all the calculations to bend, warp, and soften were out of the question for the moment.

For the moment, Ny'za had a clear way towards the staircase to the top of the obstacle, but all that was between her and the next obstacle was a slog through the jelly, which had a rubbery consistency, but stayed to itself for the most part. The Fyunnen who'd fallen in earlier noticed there wasn't a speck on her when she left. A couple of chuckles could be heard as a New Tur'lista had mistimed the jump, sailed into the platform and smashed into, then tumbled facefirst a few feet to Ny'za's left.

He didn't seem to be moving for a bit, groaning in pain on the rubbery stuff, and unable to lift himself up. "Oh, medic!" Someone from the sidelines called, calling a uniformed Lmanel over to handle it. By the look of it, they were having trouble walking through the rubbery stuff and dragging the patient through it. The New Tur'lista was conscious, but groaning in pain as his arm bent in the wrong place and without control while his nose bled.

LSDF Val'ta, Deck 7, Brig

Suddenly demotivated to continue feigning offense by the former NMX speaking up Akemi turned his attention to them. "Ladies, ladies, please," the Neko said, raising and lowering both hands in a universal gesture for calm. "You're both very pretty, but if you really want to figure out who's prettiest why don't you let me judge since I'm the only male cat here and an unbiased neutral party? I'd of course need you to expose some more skin so I could make a proper decision."
