RP Concluded Mission 1.1 Just More Questions

Makoto

Behind her Makoto heard Tachiko’s report, and infront of her, she heard the alien speak. Though he seemed spooked by Tachiko’s words. She held a hand up, to signal Tachiko to back up a little. It wouldn’t do to have them scare him further. Since He spoke trade, there was an opportunity here, a chance to communicate. “Hello, We mean you no harm, We come in peace, My name is Makoto, Mikratos Makoto. Itto Hei, of our group, if you need help, we’re willing to give it.” Makoto said, hoping that if she didn’t seem threatening, there wouldn’t be a need for combat.

Mazumi and Androids

Mazumi made it to where she was supposed to go with an android and both got working on preparing the area for wounded, as ordered. Mean while the second android found where it was supposed to go and indrectly began helping Minato with her idea.

Even before Makoto could signal, Tachiko was already backing up, surprised by the sudden appearance of head and emergence of hand as she tried to peer through the opening. Engaging her inertial systems reflexively, she floated backwards suddenly, the sideways attitude of her ears betraying her shock. Regaining her composure after landing, her next task was to prevent Peepers from simply lighting up the entire room the trapped alien was in with armor-grade weaponry.

"Peepers, down!" Tachiko tapped it, firmly, but relatively gently compared to how the Valhallans interacted, with two fingers on the tip of its camera. "No." It silenced the low, electronic growling sound the Pest drone was making, and the whirring hum of powering weapons died away.

"I am Motoyoshi-Taii of the Star Army of Yamatai," Tachiko summoned her most authoritative voice, rarely heard from the soft spoken, unfailingly polite Nekovalyrja, and replied in Trade as she heard spoken. "I am Medical qualified. Do not attempt to egress, it is unstable and unsafe. We cannot get heavy equipment down to the surface in these conditions. Do you require immediate aid?" Her hand never left the butt of her Nekovalkyrja Service Pistol, though her grip relaxed a bit. Her FARS unit hovered nearby, its bio, chemical, and radiation sensors actively scanning.

Shuttle One

Alina let out a sigh of relief as the shuttle seemed to have landed safely. The weather outside continued to render visibility at a zero, with sensors still being utterly useless. This wonderful combination dissuaded her from venturing out from the shuttle for the time being. Now that she was on the ground she ran a check of the systems to see what was being hampered and what remained functional. So far she had not needed to utilize any of the damage control systems onboard, but they were not out of the woods yet.

Kaoru's distorted voice over the comms ripped her attention from performing systems checks. Seems like relief would be coming soon and her orders were now to watch the sky. At least that's what she got out of the garbled message. Alina swiftly swapped her focus to maintain observation on the sky above for relief from this onslaught. "YSS Mazu, Shuttle one. Orders received and ..." the message cut off as the equipment malfunctioned again.

Alexei was currently walking down a corridor with three other yeomen, helmet and shoulder lights panning around as they advanced, weapons in hand as they searched for a power conduit-no one had been able to locate any either. That or the yeomen were more interested in seeing if a Mishu would pop out of the walls so they could knife-fight it in the dark.

Honestly? Even to him, focused on the task at hand as he was the proposition was exciting. Still, they had a job to do.

They'd happened to make a wrong turn as the neko-Tachiko if he recalled correctly-and another he couldn't recall the name of-came into view-the room they were in partially collapsed. Noting her stance, they advanced to assist until he saw the alien. The two yeomen made to bring their rifles up before he held up his hammer. ("Hold your Ancestor's damned fire!") He growled-no was shooting and it didn't try to grab any one-at least not yet. ("Take up guard positions, one of you watch the door.") He approached as they split, two of them taking up positions on either side of the room as the third watched the door. He kept both his pistol and hammer lowered, but ready to be brought up at a moment's notice should it turn hostile. Cold red eyes studied the creature, at least what little he could see-three fingers-multiple eyes; and a weird, shiny glint on what he could see indicating some kind of armor.

The smith chose that moment to remain silent and observe. Diplomacy really wasn't his specialty, in spite of what some people would believe.

----

Morris looked back at the smiths. "Can we get it airborne?" He inquired, tone serious-the rain was taking a toll on the vehicle even as it seemed to knit itself back together. "Maybe, but it'll be a minute." One responded as he wrenched open the panel revealing the machine's systems, "Possibly longer." That...was worrying.

Outside the storm continued to howl its displeasure.

Tachiko held up one hand towards the Knuckleheaded foursome, as her hand started to drift away from the butt of her sidearm. Tellingly, however, there was no click of the retention mechanism locking once more. Peepers did slow donuts between Tachiko and Makoto, though it kept its turret aimed at the doorway regardless of the way it faced.

"Don't approach," Tachiko said, directly to Alexei, or at least, he was closest to the way she half-turned her head, moving the hand she'd waved them down with to instead indicate the doorway she'd backed away from, "I'm no engineer, but this all looks like it could collapse at any moment."

Once more, Tachiko turned back to the Illionite, but spoke over the team's open comms to Katsuko, "Oh, that's how it looks. I'm looking at it again now. And speaking with it. In Trade."

"Is there any other way to get out of the area you are in?" Tachiko called out to the being on the other side of the rubble, "Or are you trapped in there? And you should probably stay clear from the collapsed area as well!"

Akina - 1km from Alina

The shorter range between the two made it possible for Akina to get through to the shuttle, at least when one or both of their comms weren't suffering from malfunctions. "Status?" I can flash over but having a cyanide-drenched armor in the shuttle would be one more problem. The Taisho thought to herself, though she still was considering that possibility. The career soldier compared her passive environmental readings from before with what she was picking up in the middle of the storm. It would make her feel better if it turned out just to be incredibly bad luck on their part, and not some sort of enemy action as was a possibility.

Ayano - Field Laboratory

Inside the containment of her suit, Ayano swore she could smell the ungodly stench of their rapidly decaying friend. "Shit, get that slab in some water and measure rate of decay. At least, based on initial findings and the report we can guess out salinity level and the rest." She ordered while a wet SCHLOP announced a chunk of the poor woman hitting the ground after it slipped from the table. She engaged a full physical barrier around the table, which made their work harder but not impossible. "Were they experimenting upon it, or is this some kinda' just, we rot if we're out of the drink situation?" The doctor asked aloud, cross-checking it with what they had been forwarded.

The team in the lab was going to go down to the wire, until the corpse became a melted puddle they had to put in a large sample container for burial or transport, whichever came first: meeting their people or their first ability to send items of import back to the Kikyo Sector.

Crashed Alien Ship- Katsuko, Yingzi, and Mikael

"Perhaps Taisho or a very advanced natural gyroscope like the inner eardrums of humans." Yingzi said as she placed the same into the science pad for quick analysis. It wasn't long before she got a report from the science pad.

Sample Analysis Report: Alien Exoskeleton Composition

The exoskeletal sample obtained from the alien subject exhibits unique biochemical compositions distinct from terrestrial analogs. Primary constituents include complex polymers closely resembling Yamatai's chitin and sclerotin, primarily composed of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen atoms. These polymers are interlaced in a hierarchical structure that suggests a balance between rigidity and flexibility, akin to Yamatai's arthropods.

Additional elements, such as calcium and trace amounts of magnesium and silicon, have been detected. These likely contribute to the structural integrity of the exoskeleton. It's noteworthy that these elements are integrated in a novel manner, not strictly analogous to calcium carbonate formations in terrestrial exoskeletons. A higher level of calcium is detected within the exoskeleton.

On a molecular level, cross-linkages between polymer chains appear to be facilitated through a unique set of bonds, differing from the typical disulfide and hydrogen bonds seen in Yamatai organisms. These bonds may account for any observed deviations in mechanical properties compared to terrestrial exoskeletons.

Incorporated lipids and pigments were also observed, although their specific roles in the exoskeleton are yet to be determined. Notably, these compounds do not match any known terrestrial bio-pigments or lipids, suggesting a potential function beyond mere structural or aesthetic roles.

Immediate further analysis is recommended to fully comprehend the mechanical properties and potential functionalities of these organic and inorganic components. This understanding will be crucial for assessing the physiology and capabilities of the alien subject.

End of report.

She forwarded the report to Katsuko's mindy for the Taisho to read Yingzi then stood up and looked around. "Aye, contamination of the corpse would ruin our ability to understand the biology of the species. Though capturing a live subject would weild much more since a dead man tells no tales." Yingzi said, not really paying attention to who might be listening on.

Crashed Alien Ship- Tachiko and Makoto

The Illionite remained cautious, his multifaceted eyes shifting between Tachiko, Makoto, and the Pest drone as he processed their communication. Tachiko's warning about the potential for collapse resonated with him, and he took a cautious step back from the damaged doorway, showing visible unease.

"I am Strategist Lyran Veil," he replied in the trade language, his tone still carrying a hint of wariness. "I am alone and have sustained minor injuries. I am trapped in this room, and the other exit is blocked, although it's not as severely crushed as this side," he explained, trying to convey his situation as best as he could.

As Alexei and his team approached, their images reflected as a mosaic on the multifaceted surface of Lyran's eyes. He seemed equally apprehensive about their presence and the looming threat of further room collapse.

Little did they know, they didn't have long to work out a solution to get Lyran out of there as the Mazu was busy working out a solution for their extraction.

Crashed Alien Ship- Katsuko, Yingzi, and Mikael

Katsuko delved into the extensive information provided by Yingzi's analysis report, her expression marked by deep contemplation as she meticulously combed through the intricate details outlining the composition of the alien exoskeleton. It was an exceptional discovery, and she fully grasped the significance of comprehending its unique attributes.

As Yingzi highlighted the potential risk of contaminating the alien corpse, Katsuko nodded in agreement, acknowledging the critical importance of preserving the specimen's integrity for a thorough examination of alien biology. However, Yingzi's suggestion of capturing a live subject resonated strongly with Katsuko. It was an idea that held promise, and she mentally noted to explore it further with the team. The prospect of gaining insights from a living specimen had the potential to significantly advance their understanding of this enigmatic species.

"Radcliffe-Shoi, I've been in communication with Motoyoshi-Taii," Katsuko informed, her tone filled with a sense of urgency. "They have a live specimen detained in a room off the bridge, and it appears to be sentient and capable of communication in trade. I suspect it won't readily submit to a physical examination or dissection in the name of science."

She then turned her attention to Harris-Shosa, directing him to assist Radcliff-Shoi in relocating the corpse to the corridor, anticipating potential objections. "Harris-Shosa, help Radcliffe-Shoi move this corpse out into the corridor and stay here until I return," she instructed, preemptively addressing any concerns. "I'm in a Mindy; I'll be perfectly safe. I'm just going to speak with Tachiko," she added, heading towards the door to carry out her next task.

Shuttle Two Crash Site - Daisuke, Morris and Knuckleheads

The result of the YSS Mazu's actions had a noticeable impact on the weather outside. The rain's sound underwent a transformation, and the sizzling of hydrogen cyanide reacting with the ship's hull and its components ceased as the cyanide pools dispersed into the sandy terrain. Regrettably, these changes would likely go unnoticed unless someone actively sought to observe the conditions outside.

When Morris called out to the other smiths, signaling the need to get the shuttle back into the air, there was a conspicuous absence of response from the cockpit. Daisuke had succumbed to unconsciousness as a result of the crash impact. If they observed closely, they would notice that the smaller breaches in the hull had sealed shut, a result of the reannealing of the yamataium.

Daisuke is unconscious until @iaincarter can post

Shuttle One/Akina's Mindy- Alina and Akina

The second half of the message from the Mazu resonated through Alina's comms, carrying a message of urgency and the promise of a limited time frame. "You should have a couple of hours at most," it conveyed. "The Mazu can sustain this chemical generation rate for at least that long. Try to find safety."

As Alina absorbed the message, she noticed the profound transformation occurring in the rain. The hydrogen peroxide and water mix had successfully neutralized the hydrogen cyanide, rendering the rainfall inert as it descended from above. The fiery explosions in the air had come to a halt, and the pooling hazardous fluids began to dilute and lose their harmful properties.

Their immediate fate now lay in their own hands, and they chose to utilize their time and resources to ensure survival. With help currently out of reach, it was up to them to navigate the challenges ahead.

Field Laboratory - Ayano

The accelerated decay rate of the corpse slowed for the slab they placed water, not completely though as the salinity was not within the right range. The remaining structure of the female Cemlae continued to degrade however, the unfortunate reality of Ayano's hypothesis about it becoming a pile of goo had become true all too soon as the exposed flesh of the creature quickly melted away from its skeleton leaving behind a gelatinous goo of decayed matter. Outside of the slab they managed to submerge, there was very little intact flesh left.

YSS Mazu

With some time to strategize, Kaoru turned her attention to Minato, intent on getting the stranded team off the surface. As she rejoined Minato at her station, she inquired about the possibility of launching a few shuttles for the rescue operation. However, Minato's response was tinged with caution.

"We could launch shuttles, but I couldn't guarantee their safety," Minato explained, the avatar displayed a quick simulation of the situation. The unstable atmosphere, a result of the ongoing chemical reactions, posed a significant risk.

Kaoru, undeterred, proposed an alternative plan. "What if we launch them automated? Their CIES can pilot them to the surface. Then we only have to worry about their return. We can work on a solution for that while we send the new shuttles to the surface," she suggested, her gaze focused on the sensor readings from the surface and the various transponders.

Minato considered the idea and nodded in agreement. "If we halt the reaction just before the shuttles reach the Mazu, we can use the ship's CFS to protect the shuttles for the final leg of their journey back in. I'm launching the shuttles now," she confirmed, issuing the necessary orders to the launch control bridge in the port launch bay.

The primary challenge that remained was communicating the plan to the away teams. Kaoru opened a communications channel, hoping they would hear. "YSS Mazu to away teams," she announced, her voice carrying through the channel. "We are sending three shuttles to the surface—one to the crashed alien craft and one to each of the transponders we have a lock on. They are coming in automated, we can't risk more pilots so it will be up to you to get to the shuttles. Prepare for extraction." She sent the message, mindful that the teams inside the ship and Shuttle One would receive it, but Shuttle Two had no means to receive the communication.

Tachiko, Knuckleheads, Makoto
Makoto’s head turned as she heard new footsteps, and recognized the Knucklehead members, before she turned her attention back to the new alien before her. Tachiko spoke which suited the ninja just fine, as she didn’t like speaking unless it was important. She listened as the alien she now knew to be Strategist Lyran Veil explain, that while he was trapped in this room, the exit appeared blocked thuough not as crushed as this one.
She thought that meant there was a chance for him to escape, though she didn’t think of how long they had.

ALINA

Shuttle One

Akina's communication requesting status came through, albeit a little staticky. As Alina was preparing to respond she received what came across as a partial message from the Mazu. Her eyes flicked to visuals noting drastic changes in the weather. "Landed and intact, for now. It seems like the storm has halted for the time being. Although the Mazu told me we only have a couple hours, at most." she communicated to Akina as she made preparations for departing the shuttle.

Before departing she heard the Mazu's message about rescue shuttles.
"Shuttle One to Mazu. Status check with Shimizu-Taisho complete. Unless ordered otherwise, will proceed to rescue shuttle nearest this transponder." she paused for a moment wondering if something had happened to the other shuttle as there had been a suspicious absence of their presence over communications. Given the conditions they had been under it warranted some concern. "Shuttle One to Mazu, has anyone heard from Shuttle Two? Should I check up on them?" she inquired as she exited the shuttle.

Morris had finally gotten to checking on Daisuke as the smiths worked; his form was limp, but the steady rise and fall of his chest indicated he was still alive. Relief washed over him, though he couldn't see any way to release the kid from where he was locked down-and it was probably for the best.

He didn't know if the boy was hurt or not and didn't want to risk moving him.

("Kid's still alive,") He relayed, looking back to the duo attempting to splice a few cables together. ("Pilot's ain't.") Called the one from the front-he was pulling the bloody, limp form of one of the pilots. Judging by the fact the woman had been bifurcated at the waist; likely the result of getting hit by an armor plate at some point-cutting right through her armor. As the smith turned to go retrieve the other body, Morris couldn't help but feel a perverse satisfaction at the sight. 'Lot of good that fancy suit did ya.' But shook it off almost immediately; the yeoman sergeant doubted that if hadn't been for the kid they wouldn't've faired much better. Brigandines were durable, but not THAT durable. ("How much of the cockpit controls are left?") He called; hearing one of his subordinates cursing as an electric arc sparked outwards and pinged off the metal of the chairs-setting the material alight before being viciously stamped out. The smith who'd been in the cock pit returned with a more or less intact body save for the fact the front of the head was caved in.

("They're shanked, sir.") He reported as he deposited the body; checking both suits to see if they were salvageable; force of habit he guessed, ("Smashed and scorched to the Ancestors'. Might be able to jury rig em, but we'd need an interface of some kind.") The smith began the process of trying to open the armor-this was made all the more difficult as it had no external latches. ("Mind the self destruct now-don't need you getting turned into a puddle-or us getting blown up.") One of the others chimed in as they finished splicing the cables, to which their fellow grunted. ("I'm aware.") He'd at least managed to get the helmet off the one. ("Might be able to use this for the basis of the interface.") Tossing the helmet to Morris, he turned back to his work-making to pry the power source out before something bad happened, ("I'll see if I can't get us a few more parts to use.")

Most smiths hated working on SA gear taken from salvage-too much could go wrong and it was usually easier to strip it down for parts and materials than actually fix it. Didn't keep them from trying though. Morris looked down at the helmet before turning to the duo. ("Well, what do you two think?") One of them looked up again just as they'd finally gotten cables spliced in. ("Should work, just need to find whatever passes for computer systems on this tub and get them working again.") Morris nodded as looked out one of the viewports, locking the helmet to his belt, and saw just how rapidly the 'rain' was pooling, ("Better hurry, we might get flooded if we can't get airborne.") With the smiths hurried, one of them looking for whatever compartment housed electronics equipment...

-----

As the creature moved back after introducing itself-the title of Strategist was worrying; who knew what the prick was relaying back to his kin? Alexei was sorely tempted to put a plasma bolt through the gap and be done with it but as this was technically a first contact; not that he gave an ancestor's damned care about the cat's laws regarding this but it wasn't their operation. Until her ladyship said otherwise they would likely not be engaging them. At the mention of further collapse, he did his best to keep from rolling his eyes-not that anyone would be able to see it beneath his helmet. "I am aware Tachiko." His response was flat and emotionless, but she was right-the damage to the ship-at least from this side was extensive, and any attempt to free Lyran from this side would take too long. As he examined his options the sudden abatement of the sizzling sound of the rain served to hasten his decision. Not bothering to consult either of his SA counterparts-he signaled to the yeomen; "Let us go." The yeoman looked puzzled for a moment as they followed, ("Where we going?") Alexei sighed before responding in trade. "To find the secondary entrance-watch your ancestor's damned step."

He'd probably getting a dressing down from either Morris or her Ladyship-but he really didn't care. Freeing the alien would likely prevent any hostilities-or give him a reason to squash the bastard. Was a win either way. 'Stop thinking like that; it's not here at the moment.' Old habits died hard he guessed as they cautiously walked down the corridor-Alexei watching for any signs of instability that could spell their deaths.

Crashed Alien Ship- Katsuko, Yingzi, and Mikael

"No, I suppose not ma'am. Though its actions and reactions will still be highly educational as to how we can interact with them in the future." Yingzi said in response to Kat. She then listened to Kat's orders of staying put.

Mikael suppressed a sigh as he listened to the order, his professionalism being the highest trait he wishes to present. Though moments often caused him to think about his multifaceted career and why he was a Close Protection Specialist. The notion of reclassification occasionally tempted him, but after nearly fifteen years, his professional landscape seemed exhaustively explored. During the 2nd Mishhu War, he was an infantryman aboard the YSS Eucharis, indistinguishable from any other infantry within the Star Army of Yamatai.

Dissatisfied with his limited scope, he transitioned into a SAINT operative, driven by the yearning to effect broader change. Despite his aspirations, he found himself mired in unfulfilling fleet assignments. Seeking a different course, he assumed the role of a Giretsu Officer. His gallantry in that capacity at the Battle of Glimmergold paved the way for his present role as a Close Protection Specialist, especially after the disbanding of the Giretsu.

In the spectrum of his duties with the Giretsu, he had even clocked hours as a frame operator, piloting the M19 Ryoko in combat scenarios. Each role had imprinted its unique demands and disillusionments upon him, creating a tapestry of experience that, while rich, failed to quiet the restless questioning that lingered in the corners of his mind.

Though with the speed of his digital mind, the whole process happened within a blink of the eye.

"Understood ma'am. But I am obligated to remind you that while that model of Mindy is the finest example of Yamatai design philosophy, your body is still in it." Mikael said in a soft tone, not so much to grant deference but to show his understanding of the old school nature of Neko that Kat was. He is a nobody in comparison after all.

With that, he looked over towards Yingzi. "If I recall, you are just a baseline Lily Type. Stand back please." Mikael said as he made his way towards the dead alien. Yingzi put away her equipment and made room for Mikael to move.

Yingzi apprehension towards Kat gradually dimished as her brief discussion with the Taisho hinted at a keen mind that might appreciate her someday. Her main source of annoyance was not directed at the tall Nepleslian that was her Close Protection Specialist. "You could be a little more nice..." Yingzi thought to herself as he watched Mikael lift the alien up into a fireman's carry.

The gore on the underside of the corpse became clearly evident to Yingzi. "Well... that is certainly a lot of stuff that should have remained inside." she said in response to watching Mikael carry it. She then got another sample vial and started scooping up what she could for post-mortem analysis.

Mikael, now outside of the room, placed the corpse a few paces outside of the doorway and towards the direction of the field lab. While he did not show any real respect for the corpse, he placed it down with care due to not wishing to damage the specimen. He knew how unforgiving Science Officers can be.

"Since you speak Trade, how compatible are you with medicine meant for humans? You describe your injuries as minor, but..." Tachiko looked over her shoulder for a moment as the Iron Company contingent departed, then back at Makoto. If she was aware of the emotion Alexei expressed, she didn't show it, nor did she flinch at him calling her by her given name. They were guests, after all. And given the Nekovalkyrja's unforgetting digital brains, she didn't think anything of the fact he remembered it.

"Mazu Actual, what is the situation? Can we land heavy equipment? We have survivors."

Ayano

"Fuuuuuuuuuuuck. That is vile. Well at least we know the general range of salinity to use if we must, again. In case there's a live one. That's all I can do for now. If you aren't dealing with cleanup or reporting, go help with the others." The preliminary report was being compiled as they got the good news. The process of sterilizing their suits and changing from them took less time with help from the other members of staff that were in with Ayano.

Wearing a standard suit again on the outside, she glanced towards the unit being cleaned and grimaced, "Well, time to bail. Get this tub ready for extraction!" the Shosa called. About a third of the staff begin to run checklists.

As they began to get things ready to go, Ayano went to help with the injuries sustained by people caught outside before making it to the relative safety of the field lab.

Akina

THNK!

The Taisho's Mindy landed atop Alina's shuttle behind her a few moments after she stepped out, "You're looking no worse for wear. See if they can get us a precise location or last known to compare with our own." She had the track from when she lost contact, but given the volatility of the wind, they could have gone down anywhere while she was busy trying not to get batted out of the sky. She was already wondering if they could stuff the rest of them in the shuttle, but finding them would be the first hurdle.

"Well done getting her down. My long-range comms are fried but at least the pod still reads green. Not much good it'll do everyone else."

Crashed Alien Ship- Tachiko and Makoto

Strategist Lyran Veil continued to observe the unfolding interactions between the two Nekovalkyrja and the Knucklehead contingent. His multifaceted eyes portrayed curiosity and apprehension as he discerned the distinct protocols and hierarchies governing each group's actions. Predicting their reactions remained a challenge within this unfamiliar territory.

Tachiko's inquiry about the compatibility of their medical resources with his physiology prompted Lyran to carefully weigh his response. "Our physiologies are incompatible," he began cautiously, his gaze fixed on Tachiko. "I am not a medical expert, but there should be medicine available in the upper medical bay of the ship."

While he couldn't offer a definitive answer, Lyran expressed his gratitude for the Nekovalkyrja's genuine concern for his well-being. Their diplomatic gesture provided a glimmer of hope amid his current predicament within the damaged compartment.

Simultaneously, the Knucklehead leader, Alexei, displayed visible frustration due to the limitations of the situation. Lyran observed their departure as they sought a secondary entrance. Their movements were characterized by caution and precision, a clear indication that the presence of an alien had complicated matters for them. As Lyran watched their progress, he contemplated the uncertain future within this unfamiliar and potentially volatile environment.

As Alexei and his team proceeded, they discovered the other entrance. Unlike the one from the bridge, it was blocked by debris that had fallen through a hole in the ceiling from a laboratory above. The door was jammed open, providing Lyran with a better view of them than through the collapsing entrance from the bridge.

"We can't land any heavy equipment, we are taking risks just sending another group of shuttles down to retrieve you. The shuttles are our first priority so you have some time. Try alternate methods to rescue the survivors, if not they will have to hold position until the fleet arrives," Kaoru responded to Tachiko's communication.

Crashed Alien Ship- Katsuko, Yingzi, and Mikael

Katsuko observed Yingzi and Mikael as they began to carry out their respective tasks with precision and dedication. She appreciated Yingzi's acknowledgment of the potential educational value in observing the alien's actions and reactions, despite their inability to perform a detailed examination.

Mikael's professionalism shone through in his response to her orders. In response to Mikael's reminder about her Mindy model, Katsuko acknowledged his point with a nod, understanding his perspective. She had a deep appreciation for the traditional Nekovalkyrja nature of her Mindy.

She then departed the room and headed back toward Tachiko and Makoto on the bridge as planned. She signaled Ayano that Mikael and Yingzi would need assistance with the alien.

Shuttle Two Crash Site - Daisuke, Morris and Knuckleheads

The CIES hummed to life, and as the Knuckleheads labored to splice cables, the AI's voice resonated throughout the T10 Shuttle, its tone firm, "Please halt your repair efforts; automated systems are currently addressing the situation." The T10 Shuttle stood as a pinnacle of advanced technology, unlike anything the Iron Company had ever retrieved from battlefields. They had maintained an unblemished record for the service life of their crafts. However, a novel sound reverberated through the shuttle's hull, drawing attention.

A YSS Mazu AI-piloted shuttle descended and landed just behind their craft. It now fell upon the Knuckleheads to recognize the shift in the storm. The absence of explosions might have served as a hint.

Shuttle One/Akina's Mindy- Alina and Akina

"Shuttle One, it seems Shuttle Two had a rougher landing. We've dispatched a rescue shuttle, but we're uncertain about their condition," Kaoru promptly replied to Alina's communication. "Stay put; we'll arrange your extraction shortly." Despite Alina's assurance of her well-being, they preferred not to rely on the systems of the downed shuttle at the moment. "I recommend suiting up in your AMES for the transfer between shuttles."

As Alina and Akina awaited help, the sound of another AI-piloted rescue shuttle touching down nearby reached their ears.

Field Laboratory - Ayano

The scientist quickly relayed the crucial information to Shosa Ayano, informing her about the temporary storm quelling by the Mazu and the imminent need for evacuation. "Your mother has also sent a message," they added. "Additionally, we have another alien onboard the ship that they might need assistance with," they mentioned, gesturing back toward the crashed alien vessel.

YSS Mazu

"Shuttle three and four have reached their destinations, shuttle five is en route to the crash site," Minato reported to Kaoru, her eyes focused on the screen displaying the shuttle operations.

"Good, now all we have to do is wait," Tasia remarked, leaning over Minato's shoulder to get a better view of the situation. She then asked, "What's the status of the storm?"

Minato, maintaining her concentration on her task, replied, "So far, its intensity is still increasing, but our countermeasures are holding. However, I can't make any promises. It's imperative that we retrieve them as quickly as possible."

Crashed Alien Ship- Tachiko and Makoto

Matoko felt a shiver run down her spine as she sensed Tachiko's gaze upon her. She shifted her attention away from the hole in the wall and turned her eyes towards Tachiko, meeting her worried and determined expression. The two shared a silent moment of understanding, knowing that the situation was dire.

Then, Matko's attention returned to the four-armed alien Strategist, Lyran Veil. Their species was known for their tactical prowess, and they had been the key to their survival thus far.

Matoko couldn't help but wonder, just like Tachiko, how they could save themselves from being killed by the hostile environment outside, and the falling debris that had surrounded them. Makoto also heard Kaoru’s words, making it all the more difficult.

YSS Mazu

Mazumi hurried back to the YSS Mazu's bridge, a bead of sweat forming on her forehead as she rejoined her sister Minato and her friend and the first officer, Kaoru.

"You probably already know," she began, catching her breath, "but my assistant went to the engineering section to follow orders on the deployment of the chemicals to save our people, and I've completed my task in the hangar bay." She couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment in her voice as she delivered the news.

Morris's Team

When the A.I. had piped up, the smith splicing the cables looked up. "Why in th' Ancestor's Name didn't ya pipe up befer' we started?" The two rose, just as the sound of engines filled the interior. Morris looked outside-sure enough-one of those Ancestor's Damned deathtraps had landed behind the shuttle; the Mazu had likely mounted a rescue of sorts. As much as he loathed the idea of getting on one again-it was either that or be stuck here until the ship fixed itself; and in spite of the calm, the big man knew it likely wouldn't last.

"Alright, we've got a ride outta here," He barked, grabbing Daisuke and ripped the kid free of the armor lock, careless of whether he damaged it or not; his suit could take it-and slung him over his shoulder while grabbing his combat shield, "I suggest we get to it." Giving the entrance to the passenger compartment a vicious kick to force it open, Morris followed by the three techs made a mad dash across the open terrain, their footfalls wet and sucking as they splashed through the toxic mud and puddles. As they boarded, with Morris unceremoniously dumping the kid into a chair before locking him down, he heard a wet thump behind him-looking back-he saw the techs working over the two suits again. ("Why in the Ancestor's Great Slagged Bollocks did ye grab them?") he asked in valhallan-indicating the bodies. ("Cause I already got the power supplies out, and I'm not letting my work to waste.") He shot back as he began stripping plates off the upper torso of the bisected on, revealing the wet synthflesh the cats and gribblies favored so much before cutting through that and pulling the corpse out of it.

Why they didn't wear clothes under the armor he didn't know.

("Just try not to kill us.") He responded as he sat down in the chair next to the kid's unconscious form as the door to the shuttle sealed. He popped his helmet, and pulled his hip flask and after opening it took a long drought-damn that was good mead-and replaced the cap followed by his helmet. Now he just had to hope this thing held together long enough to get them out...

Alexei and Yeomen

Alexei glared at the rubble blocking the entrance; it could not be simple, could it? Had he been in possession of a 'Lance, burning through it would have been a trifle; alas they did not have such a device with them. Aside from obvious damage, it seemed far more structurally sound-at least from what he could tell. ("Could always blast through it.") One of the yeomen suggested as he checked his rifle. Of course one of them would suggest that. ("Only if we wish for the vessel to become our tomb.") He responded bluntly; a doorknocker while powerful was not ideal for a situation such as this. The short man looked at Lyran, before examining the gap; he could fit through it himself but the alien would not. They'd have to clear it, and quickly.

("Get me at least a dozen smiths-tell them to bring what non-explosive breaching and construction tools we have and strong bars for bracing, Now!") He barked, gesturing to one of them-he looked as if though he would argue for a moment before nodding. Turning back to Lyran, he spoke. "We are going to attempt to clear the rubble enough to pull you through; I would advise you to keep well away to avoid any further injury." His tone was cold and professional as he drew his pistol-a technician variant of the Helstrom-while lacking in power compared to the base model; it was far more stable and could be repurposed for welding or cutting as needed. He heard the footsteps of the approaching smiths, as the neared; many of them were carrying hand tools such as crowbars, hammers, powered saws, augers, heavy metal chains, and portable winches for deployment. Others carried strong, both non-and of the adjustable variety, braces of metal and even a little timber; likely taken from their entrenching kit. Some were checking their own pistols as well to ensure they had adequate fuel for them

("We have a survivor trapped behind the rubble-time is not in our favor as we will be evacuating shortly.") He explained, indicating the room beyond, ("It is to be cleared as quickly as possible without endangering ourselves or the alien beyond-understood?") The techs looked at the room and its occupant, before nodding. ("Brace the hall!") Someone barked; a quartet of techs slammed a brace down before adjusting them accordingly. Bolts were drilled into the floor and roof and they repeated the process of strengthening the hall in the event it proved to be far more unstable than observed. Others as they completed their work set to trying to clear the rubble-Alexei began cutting through a particularly thick piece of metal as two fellow smiths braced it.

Around him, the sounds of labor-ringing hammers, powered screeching saws, and drills and the grunts of men as they began the dangerous task of clearing the rubble. Hopefully, their precautions were enough to keep things stable until they could get Lyran out...

ALINA

Shuttle One

Alina's eyes shown with relief when she spotted the Taisho after exiting the shuttle. "Hai-Taisho" she responded with a brief pause. "It is good to see you are in one piece as well." she said with a smile, nodding slightly. "Thank you Taisho, my comms are a bit sketchy as well. Though perhaps it has changed now that the weather is temporarily neutralized." Though she would love a moment more to ensure her boss was actually okay, comms from Kaoru diverted her attentions to another matter.

Ensuring that the helmet of her AMES was secured properly she responded to the Mazu,
"Hai Taisa." Turning her focus to Akina, "Mazu said they've arranged a rescue shuttle for Shuttle Two, but they're status is uncertain. Was directed to stay put and that extraction would arrive shortly." she looking towards the noise of a shuttle nearby. "It seems that our ride is here," she paused looking back to Akina, "What are your orders Taisho?" she inquired. Yes, Kaoru had said to stay put for extraction. However, if the Taisho told her to do otherwise she would be obligated to do so. Unless Akina had contradictory orders Alina would get on the extraction shuttle promptly.

Ship Cabin

Mikael watched Katsuko make her way towards the others before he shifted his attention back to his current surroundings. By all accounts, this aliens seemed quite advanced for what he thought the rim would be in his mind. He could only imagine how much more powerful those within the core of the galaxy would be in comparison. Were the Kuvexians the only ones from there? His mind started to race a bit as he went though a number of scenarios based on if the species was friendly, neutral, or outright hostile. He really didn't like the outright hostile implications.

He then looked over towards what Yingzi was doing with one of his nodal bits pointed into the room. To be expected she was still knelt over the messy remains the corpse had hidden from their initial view.

"Interesting... hemolymph, I thought it reminded me of anthropods." Yingzi said out loud as if she was speaking to a lab partner. "Look at this hemocyanin particle. At least I think it used to be hemocyanin. Even with the limited function of this pad, the structure looks much more complex but similar to the hemocyanin of the Fujiko Lobster... I can't wait to get to some proper equipment!"

Tachiko just looked back and forth between Lyran Veil and Makoto as the Knuckleheads got down to business. "Well, that's why we brought them!" She eyed their work for a bit then turned back to Lyran. "This is your ship, right? You know the layout? If Plan A fails, is it better to try to come from underneath or above for Plan B?"
