RP: UCS Zenpyou [Mission 1] Blackened Wings

Karasu looked around the room. Searching for anything the looked like a system diagram. "To do that we need a better understanding of the station, and how it ties into the system. We need a schematic to give us a better idea of how this system is supposed to work, so that we can figure out what the creeps who sabotaged this did and how to fix it."

Roken gave Ai a nod as he approached the two civilians, he still remained alert but kept his weapons at his sides. “When we entered the colony we ran into a few things that seemed odd.....for starters our techs are investigating one of the buildings they said something about a chair and few other things and second we ran into a few explosives as we ventured further in, do you know if the Barras family was planing anything or was that your doing?” He eyed them both from inside his suit, checking for any abnormal responses or expressions any tells that would let him know if they were hiding anything.

Whatever they tell him would be of some help but he wanted access to the colony's records and security systems and he would ask that next but he would take things slow so he did not wear them down with to many questions.

Wavrian frowned, rubbing at his chin, then looked behind him to his Tenshi.
"If I had a better gauge of how much excesss power thisss thing wasss producing, I would volunteer to reroute it through my suit. I don't think that I could risk that, though, even if I were to crank all systemsss to maximum. However, if that could buy usss enough time to find a better alternative, and I could get the okay from a higher-up, I will gladly set it up asss a temporary solution."

After Ai had assured them that neither her nor Roken were going to shoot the colonists in the back seemed to relax a little bit. A child, about 10 years old, came from somewhere in the muddle of people and approached Ai with barely repressed curiosity.

"Woah, that's so cool!" he said as he looked at Ai's Tenshi. "Do you actually kill people?" The boys eyes were wide with amazement as they ran up and down the armor taking in all of its pits and falls, though he clearly had no clue what any of it was.

"I don't know anything about a chair, but the explosives and jamming field were done in self defense. Nobody got hurt did they?" The leftmost colonist of the pair seemed a little afraid that their traps had gone off and might have hit the Peacekeepers instead.

As Karasu thumbed through the schematics for the power plant she found the part that was different. It was a resistor designed to dampen the flow of power from the cables that led into the terminal. From the looks of the device that they had discovered it had been taken out and replaced with the jammer. The excess power seemed to be powering the jammer instead of just being siphoned off by the resistor. The schematics also mentioned a locker within the room that was used for spare parts.

--

"I don't know if I like the idea of using the Tenshi as a temporary power grid," Natsuko sent to Wavrian, Techard, Zero, and Karasu. "It might be able to hold it for a time, but I think as Wavrian indicated it would only buy us time until it failed. The Peacekeeper being inside would probably be at a high risk of dying too." Of course Natsuko wasn't an engineer so it was literally all conjecture.

After Karasu found what she was looking for she turned to Wavarian. "Wavarian, hold on a moment. These schematics should help with repairs, and there should be parts in this locker to allow you to make the repair safely." She said crossing over to the locker. Hopefully whoever did this, did not clear out the locker. But even if they did, the schematics will still be of use. she thought.

Zero kept to himself for the moment, just staying out of Wavrian's way and went over to where Karasu was and blinked. He knew she was looking for the extra parts by how she was looking around and what Wavrian was doing.

"If there isn't anything in there, we can probably find something in another room or something. There has to be a storage room or larger locker in an adjacent room or building," he said thinking out loud. "And if he's going to use the Tenshi to re-route the power, he doesn't have to get back into it while it's being used like that," he suggested. "One of us would have to stay here to protect him though."

A locker full of spare parts... Leave it to the technician, the person trained to think up odd ways to solve odd problems, to overlook the obvious. Of course, they'd have extras in such a crucial room.

Wavrian singled out Karasu's Tenshi and smiled. "Good call on that. Now, pleassse, if you wouldn't mind, could one of you open the locker up? Best that an unarmored person not try, lest it be trapped. I can look around up clossse and personal once it's open and see what I can scrounge up."

Ai giggled as she kneeled down in front of the boy. "I try not to," she said as she took a quick glance around before she tugged her helmet off. Her ears popped out and her hair fluttered a bit as it resettled after the head gear was off.

"As far as I know, the explosives didn't go off. No one is hurt, though I believe they're still working on that jamming device now," the sub-lieutenant said, looking up to the adult civilians.

Roken ignored the children who were awestruck by Ai's power armor as he looked over at the colonist that spoke. “Think you can shut down the explosives and the jamming device so we can communicate with rest of our team?” Roken asked as he slowly walked in the direction they had came from.

Roken looked back at Ai, still noticing the children walking around her. “Looks like your popular with kids,” Roken joked as he received the telepathic transmission.

"Seems odd but its your call, me and Ai bumped into the colonists they say they are responsible for the jamming and the explosives but know nothing about the chair," Roken paused for a moment realizing what he had just sent. "I mean the power plant, I'm currently requesting their aid to deactivate there explosive devices they set up," Roken sent back as he waited for a response from the colonist and from Natsuko.

It didn't take Wavrian long to find a resistor in the utility shed and replace the jamming device with it. The power grid flicked off for a few seconds before he managed to get the resistor in place. Once the power flicked back on the Peacekeepers' armors registered that the jamming field had been disabled.

----

A signal came through from the Zenpyou shortly after the jamming field being disabled. "This is Stryker. Natsuko? Ai? Team report." His voice had a slight uneasiness to it. When David had finished interrogating the prisoner he had tried to reach the team that had been sent down. The jamming field had cut off his line of communication to the squad and it was getting him nervous. They were not armed to pull off a rescue mission.

----

"Yea, we can take care of that," the colonist replied. "Thank goodness you guys are here, finally you can take care of the Barras family so that we can get on with our lives peacefully." The colonist motioned for a few others to come forward and instructed them to go take care of the explosives and help with the jamming device.

----

The boy's eyes widened in wonder, "You're a neko!" he said gleefully. "Mommy!!!" the boy cried in excitement. It certainly didn't take long for his mom to get there, grabbing the boy's hand she pulled him back while giving Ai a dirty look.

"You stay away from my son." It wasn't hard to see the fear in the woman's eyes as she looked at Ai.

----

As the small assembly of Peacekeepers in the power station put the finishing touches on their work a civilian walked in. "I'm here to-" the civilian stopped speaking as he looked at the disconnected jammer, "Never mind, I guess you fixed it. Out of curiosity though, how did you do it?" the civilian asked.

Gin gave a mental sigh when her armor not only signaled that the jamming had been stopped, but a signal was coming in. When an unknown person walked in, she quickly turned to see who it was. Seeing that it was an unarmed person she assumed a relaxed posture.

"Well it just so happens that two of us are technicians, and we found the schematic for the station."

The Azorean smiled at the civilian, then bowed before Karasu's armor. "I hardly think that I could be grouped into the 'we' category. I simply put thingsss back in order. Pleassse, Technician Karasu, take full credit for what you did. I'd have been lost if you hadn't thought to do something as rudimentary asss to check the schematicsss."

With that said, Wavrian clambered back into his Tenshi and powered it up, smiling all the way.

Ai frowned slightly. "Just because I have neko ears doesn't mean I'm a bad person. I am still here to help," she muttered as she placed her helmet back on and stood. "My apologies Miss," she said as she bowed. Ai wasn't about to start an argument or something when it wasn't needed. If she was going to be hated for being a Nekovalkyrja, then so be it.

Still, she had one more thing to add. "Even if I am a neko, I still am a United Outer Colonies Peacekeeper."

Gin looked at Wavarian, "It was a team effort Peacekeeper Wavarian. You were as much a part of the solution as I was." She then turned towards the civilian "And might we know who you are? And why you sabotaged your own system in a way that could have caused a catastrophic failure."

Roken gave the woman a hard stare under his helmet before addressing Ai. “Seems like everything is in order so far.” Roken looked around at the remaining colonists before doing one last communications check to make sure the signal was still clear before speaking up again.

“Alright then, we should check the colony's security data to see if there is anything else,” he paused for a moment as he said that looking at one of the more talkative colonist. “How long have you been hiding exactly?” Roken wanted to be sure before he got to deep into the investigation

Zero had stood back the entire time and monitored what was going on and chuckled faintly and looked at the others. "Well you're the two that did most of the work here," he said with a sigh, "I couldn't really do anything if I wanted to, I'd much rather not mess things up more than they already are." He continued as he looked over to Wavrian, "You did a fine job my friend."

While the peacekeepers were handling the situation on the ground, the Zenpyou stood guard in space. Due to the rushed nature of the Zenpyou's departure there was little time for a full crew to be transferred to the ship before it left. Because of that Commander Fleming was the only one aboard the ship at the time, though for the Asuka-Class Scout that was hardly a problem.

"UCS Zenpyou, this is the UCS Cael we're on our way to check out another pirate incident but have been asked to drop off your remaining crew and supplies." Stacey looked up from his console that was providing information about the peacekeeper's current mission. "This is Commander Stacey Fleming of the UCS Zenpyou, it's good to hear from you UCS Cael. We've sustained a little bit of battle damage, would you be able to lend us a hand?"

"Of course Zenpyou, our mission isn't time sensitive. We can assist you with repairs as necessary," came the reply.

Less than thirty minutes later the Cael came out of hyperspace and began to approach the Zenpyou. The Cael, like the Zenpyou, was an Asuka-Class Scout. Once the ships were relatively close shuttles were dispatched between the two, some carried supplies while other carried the remaining crew for the Zenpyou.

-------

Alice's shuttle was one of the first shuttles to leave the Cael and begin its flight toward the Zenpyou. The shuttle started near the center of the Cael's long shuttle bay and flew out the front end of the ship. As it did, it brought the Zenpyou into view. The black scoutship looked like it had seen better days, but it wasn't in extremely bad condition. Instead, it appeared that one of the entrances to the shuttle bay had been bore through.

As her shuttle continued its tour around the Zenpyou one of the other people in the shuttle spoke, "It's kinda exciting isn't it?" the Peacekeeper looked like he was a fresh addition to the Peacekeepers, a Peacekeeper 3rd Class judging by his rank pin.

Alices's face could be read like a book. She was in awe. "Is is a lot exciting!" she answered. "I can't wait to get on board."

Then she fixed her uniform. Soon she will be on board of her first vessel, she wanted to look smart. Okay all set. She then faced her colleague in shuttle. "By the way, I am Alice Mason, Peacekeeper Recruit," she introduced herself to him and extended her arm to shake hands. "Although, I suppose I should salute you," she said with smile on her face.

Adrian was sitting behind the person he had overheard introducing herself as Alice. Glancing out of the window towards the Zenpyou's battle scared body, he grinned and said quietly to himself, "Looks like I have some work to do."

Alice turned around on her seen and looked on young man behind her. "Work to do?" she said. "Then I suppose you are an engineer aren't you?" Then she looked through window again and looked on UCS Zenpyou from behind reinforced glass. "She is beautiful and strong ship, with a little help from you guys from engineering she will be soon in perfect shape again."
