"We can vent sections as needed, if needed," Hanako told Sune, before replying to Ramiro: "Have Pineapple take a shuttle and stay behind to look for them. I am going to have a word with them when we are done. We are leaving immediately. Take us into space for the hyperspace jump and have Victory secure the rear hatch. Set readiness condition two throughout the ship and bring all weapons fully online."

Throughout the ship, armored blast shutters slid into place, sealing off the various areas from one another and the various systems hummed, each running at full power.

Meanwhile, Hanako slipped into her form-hugging AMES suit.

"Aye Taisa!" Ramiro responded. He quick drafted the two messages and sent them out.

Code:
Bridge to Pineapple. The Taisa has ordered you to take a shuttle from the Shuttle Bay and stay behind on Gartaga for the missing crew member. Report back when you have Kygra-Hei.

Code:
Bridge to Victory. Secure the rear hatch. Any crew members not on board are being left behind.

Since the engines had already been prepped it only took a few seconds before they were blaring and the ship was lifting off the ground. Ramiro carefully steered the Eucharis out of the make-shift spaceport and pointed it towards the sky. Within minutes the gunship had broken through the atmosphere and flying free in space.

"Taisa, we have a successful takeoff. Bringing weapons online; if there's something waiting in the other side of our fold then we'll be ready."

Ramiro checked the star charts one last time to make sure everything was correct before putting on his headset and dialing into the ship's comm system. "All personnel, we are at Readiness Condition Two. All systems to full, weapons online, shields on standby. Prepare for hyperspace fold." With the press of a button the blue bubble commonly associated with hyperspace fold formed around the ship. As the stars, the planet, and everything around them disappeared the ship began to speed off towards Ether.

"Ma'am, we have a successful fold. We're heading at a slight northward arc to avoid coming near the black hole, but nothing too significant. Overall it should only make a difference of roughly a minute or two.

Eucharis Bridge

Floating onto and touching down upon the bridge came Helen, clad in a AMES suit. Her late arrival apparently had been caused by donning the ever so cumbersome bit of attire. Unless she was needed elsewhere, Helen figured that the bridge would be where she could be of most use for the time being. "Taisa, at which position do you require my services?" She asked, as she wondered inwardly at just what kind of absurdity was to take place in regard to rendering aid to a species which so recklessly threw themselves into a poorly devised combat situation.

When Eucharis defolded at the outskirts of the Ether system, twelve NMX scout ships were already in the area; however, the main NMX fleet was not there yet, and the NMX 32nd Fleet, which SAINT thought to be located at Ether, was either hiding or off on another mission. Sensors showed the NMX garrison fleet was holding back from the invading Gartagens while it waited for NMX reinforcements. The First Fleet and First Expeditionary Fleet were supposed to be coming from Yamatai, but an unplanned scramble was an unpredictable thing.

"Those scout ships might signal the NMX fleet that the Star Army is here...it could cause the NMX to send a larger force," Hanako worried aloud. "We should attack instead of sitting around obviously waiting for reinforcements. The scouts are grouped in threes. Get us a shot at the closest group," she ordered.

Ramiro nodded and immediately began having the computer place the ships into designated groups based on distance, Group 1 through Group 4.

"Charisma, we need to figure out which is the lead ship in each group. If you can, use the sensors to figure out which ship has the most firepower, the most shields, and the most communications traffic. Hopefully, it will help us figure out the key ships and take those out first."

As he waited for Charisma to report back, Ramiro began generating firing solutions for each of the ships and posted them on the screens.

"Taisa, these are the best possible ways to assault each of the ships individually."

Sune grabbed the handset, "Attention All Hands, we are now Condition 1. Battle Stations Battle Stations."

He entered a series of commands, first initiating a jamming field, the other a multiband scan of the enemy ships.

He looked over his shoulder, "Klein-Shosa, Please take over operation of our Type 31 EWS from the Mission Ops Station. You are more skilled in communications and counter intelligence systems."

With his scan complete he painted his sensor data over Ramiro's identifying the most likely vessel that was the leader of each group. "Overlaying Valencia-Nitô Heisho's projections with tactical data." he said.

The scout ships closed in and the two squadrons began exchanging shots and attempting to avoid the oncoming fire. The scout ships started to launch battle pods.

"All units, charge fire main weapons on spread mode!" Hanako ordered.

Throughout the ship, the crew could see displays of the NMX ships shooting at them, overlaid with Charisma's lines showing the path of enemy fire. So far, due to the range, the ship was able to get out of the way most of the time.

Ramiro pulled up the weapons interface and began charging the main cannon. "Setting cannons to spread mode. Turrets returning fire on battle pods." Ramiro used the sensor data as well as the tactical data from Sune to begin selecting targets. Choosing the closest group, and aiming for the center of the spread to hit the highest priority target, he fired the cannon.

"Main cannon fired and recharging. Charisma, what's the damage looking like on the enemy ship?"

Ramiro continued to use evasive maneuvers to avoid most of the enemy fire as he waited for the main cannon to recharge.

Engineering

Takeyu kept his eyes on the displays, monitoring power levels and the statuses of the various sytems. He was monitoring what was going on outside the ship thanks to one of the displays off to his left, he wasn't nervous nor worried, at least not for his own life - he was worried about the Eucharis and her getting banged up even more than she already was.

Passing his hand over the console, he switched one of the displays to monitoring the power conduits while he switched another to keep track of the reactor levels. Letting out a calming breath he closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them and made eye glances at both displays, while also keeping his eye on the main display in front of him.

"Enemy shields low...focus fire using the anti-ship guns," Hanako ordered.

The ship rocked as the NMX shots became more accurate as the two squadrons closed.

Suddenly, a group of battlepods warped in around the Eucharis and began releasing torpedoes!

"Ramiro!" Hanako shouted.

Bridge

Seeing the new threat Sune sent the necessary commands to the Heavy Quad Anti-Mecha Cannons. "Setting Quad Cannons to point defense Ma'am." He also wondered what Helen was doing with regards to the EWS.

"All hands, incoming missiles, brace for impact." Sune sent over the intercom, while sounding Collision Alert.

Recreation

Reika braced herself against one of the walls as the enemies first barrage of weapons fire impacted the Eucharis' shields. When Sune's voice sounded from the ships intercom, Reika tensed and gripped more tightly in preparation for the rain of missiles that came hurtling towards the ship.

"Great... this is going to leave a mark." the woman said, her voice sounding slightly off due to the echo from within her AMES suit's helmet.

Yaichiro braced himself as well, hoping that the CFS and ship guns were sufficient to protect against the barrage. Coming out here damaged was a bad idea, but there were fewer ships up this far north. The officer held on, trying to keep away from sharper edges of consoles and such. He seriously considered recommending removing corners from whatever was possible, much like companies that babyproofed their toys and furniture with smooth edges.

Ramiro shouted in triumph as he directed the anti-starship guns at the trio of NMX ships and unleashed a volley of fire from the turrets. At the same time he fired another spread from the main cannon.

"Firing and rechar...." He stopped as his console started beeping about the incoming missiles. Immediately his fingers started flying on his console, pulling up whatever controls he could find. "Damn the lack of countermeasures!"

His mind flashed back to when he was lecturing about special systems on board YSS craft and suddenly he got an idea. "Charisma, access the Warfare Suite, send an electromagnetic wave at the torpedoes, see if you can disrupt their electronics. If that doesn't work, see if you can jam whatever type of sensors they are using to lock on us." While he said this Ramiro had been strafing the ship perpendicular to the directions of the torpedoes. His hope was that he could disable their guidance systems and then get out of the way.

The ship's guns were blazing, filling up the space around the ship with a flurry of shimmering yellow bolts...but there were just too many torpedoes. Some got through. As some of the torpedoes hit the shield bubble, the ship rocked violently. Anything not secured would be sent flying toward the front of the ship.

These were not normal explosions, though. They were special subspace detonating torpedoes designed to knock out shields and spatial engines.

The combined field system was disabled! They were dead in the water!

Above them, a massive Mishhuvurthyar ship-creature began moving its tentacles down to grab the stalled Star Army gunship. From it, numerous ghostly Mishhuvurthyar were streaming out.

"Aether engines, ahead full!" Hanako commanded.

Engineering

Takeyu waited until nearly the last second, practically the last nano-second, before he braced himself. When the shaking subsided his eyes fell upon the flashing red words on one of his displays that read 'CFS Offline'

"Son of a--!" he shouted and brought up a readout on the CFS system itself. "CFS is down!" he said rehectorically, knowing that Yaichiro and Takeda both already knew that.

His hands went right to work in trying to get the CFS back online. "This is not going to be easy," he muttered as his fingers danced on his keyboard.

Ramiro nodded and throttled the engines to full power. Worried that they might not have enough power to get out of the way Ramiro called down to Engineering.
Code:
Bridge to Engineering. We need more power to engines. Something's trying to board the ship and we need to get the hell out of the way!

Armundo grunted as he was suddenly thrown forward on his way to the recreation area. It had taken him far longer then he would've liked to find his suit and get it on. The ship suddenly lurched forward, sending him flying head long. He tried to curl in mid-air, but the force was so great that he was merely driven into the unyeilding floor, landing hard on his shoulder.

Armundo grunted sharply as a line of pain show down his shoulder into his spine. He lay on the floor, dazed with a throbbing shoulder for a few moments before he picked himself up, holding his left shoulder as he made his way down the hall towards his station. He slipped into the recreation room, leaning against the door frame "S-sorry I'm late. This suit is a l-lot harder to get in then it looked." he said, obviously in a bit of pain. He was not sure if his shoulder was broken, dislocated or just bruised badly, but it was hard to move and was hurting quite a bit.

Luckily, the quick actions of the crew saved them from te Mishhuvurthyar behemoth. First, the electronic warfare suite came online, setting up a volumetric duplicate of the gunship. Then, when Ramiro fired the engines, the illusion stayed in place te the real ship moved forward invisibly. The monstrous tentacles passed through harmlessly. Eucharis was able to restore CFS stealth.

Yaichiro quickly had his fingers dance across his console, once recovering from the impact and the sudden jerk. He already started rerouting power from overloaded systems to intact ones, trying to get as much shielding strength back as possible. The Eucharis had already suffered CFS damage with field fixes in the last battle, and the fact that they hadn't stopped off for repairs was catching up to the ship already...

"I've re-routed what I can to get some of the shields back, but we've got burned out parts across the ship. We've got some wrench-work to do to if we're going to hold out for too long." He said to Takeyu.

"Find the quickest fixes for the most time-effective shield restoration and get to it! You too, Takeda-Heisho -- there are some knocked out systems in your general area."
