Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

It looked as if they were on the right track. Their surroundings certainly showed off a bit more wealth the closer they got to the center, with a lot of exotic goods not seen on the outskirts of town. Thankfully the people here seemed to be more worried about themselves as opposed to the group that was passing by. Looks could be deceiving though, and that Gravedigger fellow could be lurking around anywhere.

"If you say so." Egil wasn't one to pry, but it was quite obvious he was not ok. Not that there was much of a choice now, other than keep on going. He let Conrad off the hook for now, glad that the Chusa would take a look at him. At Sune's orders Egil chose a direction and started moving towards it, inspecting his surroundings, the people and the store contents for anything suspicious or any sign of the squid at all. He made sure not to wander off too far so he wouldn’t get isolated from the group

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

Natsumi looked around. She wasn't sure what she was looking for, but figured she would know when she saw it. She paid special attention to the people around them. At this point she didn't trust a one of them.

"Hightower-San, are you alright?" she asked. With all that had happened since the lizards came charging in, she had not noticed he had been run down. She went over to see if he needed some help out.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

As the Squad moved toward the center of the city, Bors feelings of dread and paranoia were slowly increasing. He didn't like being underground in a squid run town and only carrying an NSP was not his cup of tea. Aside from watching for anything out of the ordinary, he checked out the shops seeing if any were accepting KS so he could get himself a decent firearm in case they were attacked again.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

Conrad nudged at the Captain. He'd have no choice anyway. As he was being examined for injuries and obliged with moving any body part he had to in order to check it, he looked around absently.

Nothing he saw was going to help them in any sense, but he couldn't shake off the feeling this Gravedigger was A) around this place stalking them and B) more important then they had thought so far. His span of thought and absent observatio nwere broken by a question directed at him.

Natsumi asked if he was alright. Second one after Egil, who seemed to accept it for now, but didn't seem utterly convinced. Hopefully she would accept the same answer as well. With a small hint of tenseness, Conrad replied with a short ''Yeah, I'm ok.'' but also added ''...unless the Chusa says otherwise.''

He kind of expected Sune to say as such. It wasn't life threathening as far as he knew, but then again, what did he know? He was built to take a hit, but never got to see how much of a hit. How far would he be able to measure up to the 'lizard-battering-ram'-gauge of resistance?

Conrad wouldn't let his hand dwindle too far away from his peashooter at any rate, keeping it within an inch at most.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

Sune reached into the medical kit and pulled the PMS1 hypospray out. He synched it with the hand unit and then injected them into Conrad via one of the gashes in his suit.

"After this check to see if your helmet is still operational. When we leave this place you will need the environmental system running, or limit your breathing. The tears in the suit will not cause a risk to your skin."

While the nanomachines were gathering data, he took out the headlamp and switch it on. He checked Conrad's pupils for responsiveness. Then he pulled up the data from the handset and scrolled it over his Uni sunglasses. The information would provide him with the necessary data to come up with a treatment if necessary. He also made note to schedule some first aid scenarios using the SYNC on the Eucharis to make sure that the crew was familiar with basic first responder training.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

Suddenly assault rifle shots rang out, coming from somewhere in a nearby building. Conrad's thoughts had been right on the money. Bors, the main target, was hit three times in the abdomen, waist, and right hand, while Natsumi was hit in the calf. Another round grazed Sune's back and then one hit him in the buttocks, passing though shallowly. Only Egil was spread out enough from the group to be out of the immediate line of fire. Conrad narrowly avoided a shot to his face, but his faceplate was shattered.

As the gunfire started, the locals hurriedly moved out of the area or into nearby buildings, leaving the street deserted save for a few curious robots.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

It wasn't the first time he was shot and it hopefully wouldn't be the last, but either way it was a feeling he would never get used to. He almost didn't realize that he was shot, his adrenaline kicking in after he heard the first shot ring out, but as soon as the second round hit he felt everything slowdown as he started to fall backwards with a sharp pain coming form his torso. As he was falling the third round hit his hand, damaging the cybernetics inside, damaging its functional capabilities.

Grabbing his NSP with his left he quickly thumbed it from Stun to Heavy and tried his best to shoot at where the shooter was, watching for the movement and muzzle flashes to give away their position. As he shot he tried his best to crawl back to a cafe table that had been knocked over once the shooting started to give himself some better cover, and a better chance of survivability.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

Conrad had never been so lucky. Narrowlingly avoiding a shot that might otherwise have taken his life, Conrad made one quick conclusion.

He absolutely hated being shot at.

In reaction, and assuming Sune might be hit, he quickly grabbed the Chusa, held him tight, and vaulted them both to cover, making sure he would get the most of the impact received from bouncing on the ground. His ribs sang a sharp protest song filled with pain, but it was not only the least of his trouble, but also somethign he did not care much for. As long as the chusa was safe now, against this large concrete plate.

''You ok, sir?!'' He said as he tried to determine the location of the shooter. He didn't wish to peek out of cover too much, in case the shooter was going to shoot again. His NSP was quickly toggled for Heavy mode and nobody was going to tell him to switch it back.

Noticing Egil was far enough to be out of immediate danger, Conrad sent a quick message.

''Egil, we're a shooting gallery here! Can you find the shooter? We need to nab this guy now, he's a lead and a threat!''

He assumed Egil would understand what he meant. It was clear this guy needed to be dealt with now, and Egil seemed clearheaded enough. If it worked, Conrad would have his hands around the neck of this despicable lowlife soon.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

Getting shot. That was something new. Natsumi had never been wounded before. She shrieked in pain as the sharp burning pain that coursed through her leg caused her knee to buckle and sent her crumpling to the ground.

She forced her way past the pain, using her good leg to kick herself into a roll and behind the closest cover she could find. Then her pistol was out, switched to kill.

Natsumi knew she wasnt the only one hit. There was blood all over the place. Hers and the blood of others. She saw motion and the forms of Conrad, Sune and Egil scrambling for cover. She wasn't sure how badly they were hurt. But then she saw Bors, blood everywhere from wounds to his torso at least. It was bad.

"Bors!" she yelped seeing her roomie shot through was too much. He alive and firing back and wasn't far away from where she had ended up, but there was no way he was going to make it to cover the way he was crawling back.

She gritted her teeth and launched herself out with her good leg. Scrambling behind Bors, she wrapped her arms around him and started dragging him back behind cover, she tried not to put weight on her wounded leg as she moved, the pain was incredible and she wasn't sure how badly shot up it was, just hoped it would hold until she got them to safety. "Come on, I've got you!" she said as she dragged him behind a parked ground vehicle.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

Egil turned around towards the sound of gunfire fast enough to see half his team catch a few bullets before he rolled behind a large advertisement board. After the realization of his team being shot wore off after a second he opted to move behind the terrace of the place he had been checking out, circling around the group towards the area the shots came from. At first the people that rushed towards the buildings gave him ample cover, but they soon reached their destinations and forced him to sneak from cover to cover. He stopped behind a wall for a moment when Conrad messaged him and he took a good look at the location of the shooter while forming a reply.

I’m already circling around but this place is way too open with all of the people gone. The shots came from a building on the other side of the plaza, but it’s hard to get eyes on the shooter.

He wasn’t sure if he would be able to catch the assailant and bring him in, but he wasn’t about to let the attacker leave without a bullet of their own. Egil resumed flanking the building after his reply was sent.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

Sune felt the two hits to his body. Being shot was not a new experience, but it also was not one he enjoyed. He was about to grab Conrad and dive for cover when the Nepleslian grabbed him and did the same.

"I have been hit twice. One feels minor the other I will need to check. But first we need to find and neutralize this shooter." He said through gritted teeth.

He pulled out his Science scanner and set it for emissions. He programmed it to look for a precise energy signature. That which came from the nanobots of the PMS. There were two readings, the closest was obviously Conrad, but the other could only be Gravedigger.

It took him a moment to get a bearing and distance. He monitored the conversation of the team as he did.

He sent across the suit's communications system to the team, "Hostile is located 100 meters away at the following coordinates relative to my position. It is Gravedigger. Fire at will, keep his attention. Mashiro, you get a bead on him. Take the bastard out."

He then sent a second message via subspace to the Eucharis.
Away Team to Eucharis
Team has come under fire, three members have been shot. Natsumi and I are wounded but still moving, Bors is down condition unknown. Shooter identified. Working to neutralize the threat.
Jalen-Out

With his NSP set to Heavy Sune fire a round towards Gravedigger.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

After the bright green flash of Sune's NSP, a window and some masonry of the nearby building exploded in a ball of dust and debris, sending glass shards and stones tumbling to street blow and leaving a hole in the side of the building. There were no further shots and the nanomachine signal stayed in place.

From his point of view, Egil could see a side entrance to the building on the ground floor.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

Natsumi had Bors back behind cover now and could get a good look at his wounds. They were bad, very bad. She shoved her pistol back into its holster and put pressure on the wounds to his torso.

"Stay with me!" she said, then called to Sune. "Chusa! Bors is hurt bad!" Her own wound was the last thing on her mind right now as she held onto her roomie.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

As Natsumi dragged Bors behind cover he continued his stream of fire and curses at the building, only stopping once he was behind the car. His breathing was erratic, a result of his anger and pain mixed together.

"I ain't goin anywhere!" he snapped, "This isn't the first time ive been shot, and its not as bad as the last time." Reaching for her holster with his good hand he pulled out Natsumi's and handed it to her. "Lets kill this bastard first before he gets any more of us."

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

Urtullan City - Main Street

Shosho Hanako's voice came over Sune's communicator. "Away team one, this is Eucharis, I copy your message. Have you encountered military forces? Do you require reinforcements? I can send a distress call to the Firebird if necessary."

As the shooting stopped, the various aliens, humans, and robots going about their business before began to resume their activity.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

Main Street
Sune looked around, he was not entirely sure what Gravedigger's status was, but Bors needed his skills. He noted that folks were acting as if nothing was going on. "I"m going to tend to Riko-Hei. Cover me if the shooter shows up. I will get back to checking your injuries after." He used the opportunity to head to Bors using his natural anti-grav to avoid aggravating his own injuries.

He sent a brief response to Hanako.
"Eucharis,
Do not believe this was a military attack. Have detected the presence of the person hired to kill two of our members. Members converging on location of the shooter.

Performing triage on Riko-Hei.
Jalen-Out."

He settled on the ground next to Bors.

"Mashiro-Hei is moving in on the shooter's position. You are not going anywhere until I check you out." Sune pressed the hypospray for the PMS1 to get a better idea of how extensive the injuries were. He pulled out and readied the Hemosynth injector.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

Natsumi accepted her pistol as Bors pushed it into her blood covered hands. She knew he was right, but kept close so she could protect him as best as she could. She kicked in her anti-gravity so she didn't have to put weight on her injured leg and tried tosee if she could spot the shooter.

The exchange didn't last long before the hostile fire was silenced. Natsumi could only hope the enemy was dead.

She was glad when Sune came over to tend to Bors wounds. "I'm alright" she said. "Bors needs all the attention."

Natsumi let out a long breath she had been holding. She kept watch, making sure no one moved up on them while Sune was busy. She also noted Conrad's helmet was ruined, the faceplate smashed to pieces. He looked reletively unscathed all considered.

"Hightower-san, are you okay?" She asked.

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

Egil nodded at the radio message and rushed towards the side entrance he had noticed while the rest of the team wreaked havoc on the front of the building, giving him ample cover in the process. He slammed against the wall, next to the door, raised his NSP and switched the fire mode to heavy. Having seen the most probable opponent he was going to face in there he was sure pulse fire wouldn’t do the trick. He quickly moved inside, checked his corners and proceeded on to the coordinates supplied by the Chusa.

While he had to whisk away a few civilians to clear the hallway leading up to the room, the building was mostly empty. To his discomfort the shooting outside had lessened and he actually had to be quiet as he slid along the wall leading up to the entrance to the room. When he reached the open door he stopped and took a quick peek inside, taking notice of an armed silhouette. He took a deep breath, wishing he had a grenade with him, raised his NSP towards the door and started panning around the corner. When the silhouette again came in view, now behind the gun’s sights he pulled the trigger all the way back twice, releasing bursts of heavy rounds towards the target

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

''I'm ok! Get Bors back up first!'' replied Conrad, raising his thumb in confirmation. The only thing that hadn't lessened was his vengeful wrath to taste if lizard meat was any delicacy. ''How're you? You good?''

Conrad kept his pistol in his hands, as he didn't believe they were in the clear yet. Not yet. He scanned his surroundings again, which was getting more and more difficult as people were acting like nothing happened. Staying in relative cover, Conrad confirmed nobody was aiming at Sune.

''What a mess have we gotten ourselves into...''

Re: [Mission 18.3B] Filth Potpourri (HX-24)

Building

To Egil's surprise he found that he'd killed the wrong person. The armed silhouette turned out to be an older Nepleslian man in an old Imperial green uniform who had gone in to inspect the damage after Gravedigger left. The assassin's jacket and some brass casings were still on the floor but there was no other sign of their attacker.
