Shuttle 2

Sienna walked through the main compartment, still toting her helmet beneath her arm. She saw a figure sitting in the pilot's seat, clad in that imposing power armor, turn to look over its shoulder as it detected her approach. It took her a second to realize it was Natsumi again after it addressed her in that friendly manner; she wasn't sure how long it was going to take before she got used to the contrast between her personality and armored appearance.

"If you'd spent four years underground ya'd know that was a dumb question," she replied noncommittally, oddly without any expression or outward sign of interest. She stepped up into the flight compartment and took the seat behind the Neko pilot, holding the opening to her helmet in front of her face. Examining the rim, she noted several locking points and a polymer-rubberlike seal ring around the edge, but couldn't deduce how to secure it from just looking at it; the suit didn't seem to have the same points around her collar. Twisting her lips in thought, she elected to simply pull it on and see if anything became more apparent. Maybe if she--

Click.

That was it. She wasn't sure exactly how it sealed, but pulling it over her head and giving it just a little turn made it pop into place. She heard a faint hiss as the suit's life support systems came online. "Well I'll be damned," she muttered softly. She gave the helmet one or two raps with her knuckles, and jiggled it a little to test it. Sure enough, it was securely in place. It didn't wobble even a bit.

She looked over her hands and arms, on her belt, and anywhere else she could conceivably see, but she couldn't find a transmit button for comms. Looking down past the tip of her nose, she could see the telltale signs of some manner of microphone built into the helmet just below her mouth, but how was she supposed to activate it to talk to anyone?

She tapped the side of her helmet with her index finger hesitantly. Maybe there wasn't any transmit button - maybe Yamataian radios could receive and transmit simultaneously, and it was always on. "Hey Natsumi," she asked, looking at the back of the Neko's armor, "can ya hear me?"

Chatoyancy

Sune received an update from Charisma. He hit the control to close the door. It seemed that Conrad's manufacturing was taking longer than expected.

He sent a message to the Eucharis, "Chatoyancy to Eucharis, deploying."

He looked into the flight deck. "Hightower-Hei is going to have to join us down the surface once his armor is complete.

Murakami-Hei, take us out, descent trajectory. Since there is energy down their bring us in low to avoid RADAR detection.

Suzume-Hei, keep your eyes on those sensors."

He looked at the others, "Strap in and hang on. Next stop NMX Base HX-12." he said and moved to one of the seats and sat down.

Aboard the Golden Apple

"Good," smiled Takeyu as he took a seat in the co-pilots chair. "Strap in Sienna," he shouted to their guest and brought the console online. "Golden Apple to Eucharis, we are deploying."

Takeyu glanced over at Natsumi. "I'll keep an eye on sensors, you pilot. Take us out, once we are clear of the ship, set a course for the derelict."

Aboard the Golden Apple

Sienna nodded and looked over her shoulder, struggling to see where the harness points were. It had been a while since she'd been aboard any kind of spacecraft (at least while completely coherent without having recently nearly choked to death on sulfurous air), and seeing around the edges of her suit's faceplate added to the challenge. In a moment or two, however, she had found the harness and successfully strapped herself into her seat, watching the two Yamataians go about the launch procedures.

It felt a little weird for her to be setting out again. It had been less than twenty-four hours since she had made her narrow escape from Urtullan, and now here she was, cleaned up, treated, more heartily fed than she ever had been in her life, and now setting out into the void several light-years away from where she started. She smirked a little. When she woke up yesterday, she never guessed this was where she'd be in a day's time. She didn't really understand why Hanako was so easy to trust her to go along with the away team, but it worked out in her favor, so she didn't worry too much about it.

There was a faint hiss and a mechanical whirring behind her as Natsumi sealed the bay doors shut. She wondered if everyone aboard the Eucharis was so quick to trust people they'd just met.

Her eyes widened imperceptibly as a worse thought occurred to her, then, at possibly the worst time imaginable, strapped into a shuttle going someplace she didn't know anything about escorted by two armed soldiers in power armor. What if it was she that was being too trusting?

She cursed her stupidity silently. She couldn't let her guard down for a moment.

Shuttle 1

Mitsuko perked up a bit, with that announcement. At least she didn't have to worry about the giant being crammed into the shuttle with them. "Yes, Chusa." Her helmet bobbed a nod, as she piloted the shuttled towards their destination. She flew as instructed, taking every precaution possible. After her last flight, Murakami wasn't taking any chances. The Neko had been doing plenty of reading on the subject, after finishing the shuttle repair manual she'd gifted to Tomomi.

"Yeah, I can hear you just fine" Natsumi said in response to Sienna's question. She glanced back to see that she had got her helmet on.

Natsumi nodded, smiling at Takeyu as he instructed her to pilot the shuttle out. She was glad he had not elected to fly, she was really enjoying flying the shuttles.

"Okay, here we go" she said and pulled up a couple of volumetric displays. She had the computer begin plotting in their course to the crashed ship on the planet below.

Resting her gauntleted hands on the control stick and throttle, Natsumi adjusted the controles, lifting the shuttle off the hangar deck. Piloting the shuttle out into space, gaining distance from the Eucharis on thrusters. Once they were clear she kicked in the main engines, sending them rocketing away and towards the planet below.

"Begining atmospheric approach. " Natsumi said as she angled the shuttle down, making adjustments to their angle of entry. "Trajectory looks good, hull temparature normal" she said, eyes darting back and forth from the navigational display and her systems monitor.

Withing a few minutes they were cruising through the air, flying over the alien landscape.

"What's the landing area look like?" Natsumi asked Takeyu.

Shuttle 1 Chatoyancy

Misato kicked up the scanners and sensors to their max settings. Primarly scanning the base they were heading towards, though she did scan the surrounding areas for any anomalies.

"What so you think is down there Mimi-chan?" Misato was trying to draw her roommate out of her shell. She knew the pilot was worried, hell the fact was Misato was worried, but Morale was important, and her friend needed cheering up. "I bet it is a sauna they left running... you know with the hot waters and the funny smelling salts?"

Shuttle Golden Apple

"Rough," remarked the Taii as he looked at the displays and the data being sent to him. "Let's do a fly by of the area to try and find ourselves a better zone, this area is too rocky and would damage the shuttle, and the last thing we need is another damaged shuttle," Takeyu smiled and looked over at Natsumi.

He pulled one of the volumetric displays downward and brought another one up so that he could get a terrain map of the area.

Shuttle Golden Apple

Natsumi stuck her tongue out at Takeyu as he commented about the shuttle she had damaged the day before. "Don't worry, I think we'll be fine, no bounty hunters chasing us today"

She adjusted her grip on the control stick, bringing the shuttle into a gentle bank to the right, circling the area around the derelict ship.

"Let's see if we can find a nice parking spot" she said as she orbited the area, the barren and rocky terrain sweeping past the big forward viewports.

"Might be a smoother area about three quarters of a click to the west?" Natsumi pointed out ahead and lazily turned the shuttle so their orbit would take them over the spot to investigate visually.
