RP: YSS Eucharis [Mission 19.3] Return to Eucharis

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Sienna raised an eyebrow at Natsumi. The Neko must've mistaken her for a former soldier, she figured. She also recognized a dodge when she heard one. From the way Takeyu had looked at her moments ago, she surmised that it would be in her best interest to simply let the matter drop. She didn't care one way or another whether anyone here thought highly of her, but she wasn't stupid; making enemies aboard this vessel would likely get her thrown off at the next backwater hellhole they came to, and she'd be worse off than when she got aboard.

There was a brief pause. "Yeah," she then replied with a slow sigh and nod, settling back into the booth and looking out toward the buffet, the detached disinterest returning to her gaze. "Different notions is all."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Takeyu, after taking a seat, watched and listened to the exchange going on. He was quiet, mostly with his arms folded over his chest, he was waiting for either dinner or the next briefing.

The possibility of another mission was interesting to him, but the word 'peace' didn't really jib to well with him. He did plan on volunteering of course, but he was concerned regardless...

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Bridge

Sune entered a number of commands into his console. Focusing the Eucharis' sensor array at the planet to continue to gather data as they approached. He wanted to know as much as technically possible before they sent a team down.

With his commands entered, he synchronized his ICP and then stood. "I am going down to the Wardroom for dinner. See you there." he said to Hanako.

Wardroom

A few minutes later Sune entered the Wardroom. He paused upon entering noting the absence of food scents in the air. He looked around the room taking note of who was present. He then walked over to the main table and took a seat to wait for the cooks to put in an appearance.

Wardroom

Izokia quickly scrambled to bow to Cheiko. She made a subsonic attempt to introduce her self. "I'm Orshira Izokia, the new medic. Would you like to have a seat with us?" Nervously she rubbed her tattoo on a reflex.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

"Nice to meet you, I'd love to" the scientist replied, "Koizumi Chieko, sciences." She smiled with a cool intensity in her enthusiasm for formally meeting another crew member, "Are you ok from earlier? You seemed a bit rushed and panicked when I saw you in the Med Lab."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Izokia's back immediately straightened at the comment about her incident at the med lab. "That it was nothing really. So what did you make of the substance on the away team." The failure of her attempt to divert the conversation was plain for anyone to see and she regretted it as the words slid off her tongue.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Natsumi shrugged and sank into the cushions of her chair some more. "So" she said. "Why don't you tell me about yourself, if you like?" she said, genuinely interested in getting to know Sienna better. "I know you are good with technology and engineering from what I have seen" she smiled.

Reynolds said:
Mitsuko sighed at the relaxing pat to her head. She was content to just sit there, half-sprawled on the desk, until this impossibly long day was finally over. "Yes, Suzume-chan...please just stay on board."

Cabin #4

"If they need me or the Shosho sends me I have to go... but I will try to stay aboard." She gently petted Mitsuko's head. "We better get ready for dinner and the briefing. There is probably a dress down coming for me, so there should be a good show."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Cabin 4

Mitsuko needed a few more moments of reassuring petting before she could be coaxed out of her chair. "I'm not really hungry...but...alright." She stood up straight, taking a deep breath as she composed herself. "We'll see you there after you change, Riko." Murakami would only drag her feet a little as she slipped past Bors to exit, following her roommate to the Wardroom. She seemed a bit surprised by how many people were there already.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Originally Ayumi had seen no need to introduce herself as Chieko hadn't offered her own name, but once her counterpart had it became clear to her it would be rude not to offer her name. "Satonaka Ayumi," She said softly, "Pleased to meet you." As she said this she looked up from her plate, but as soon as she was finished she went back to not making eye contact.

She finished off the last of her would be meal and set her utensils aside, listening quietly to Chieko's and Izokia's conversation.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Cabin 4

Bors nodded as the two nekos slipped by him toward the wardroom, before he headed back to his own cabin to quickly change his shirt and join them. So much for napping he thought before heading off to the wardroom himself.

Wardroom

As Bors entered the wardroom he noticed that someone was in his usual seat. At first he thought it was Misato but the blue hue was too bright and her hair was red as opposed to dark blue, and not to mention she was missing a tail. A little miffed at losing his favorite seat he grabbed a cup of coffee and sat himself down next to his roomate.

"New girl took my seat..." his grumble having a hit of sadness to it, as he shot a look over to Izokia before returning his gaze back to his coffee as he swirled it around in his mug.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Chieko made her way around to sit next to Izokia, "That the colour sits between blue and green, and that it seems translucent. Past that, I need to run some real tests when I get the chance." She then looked to Ayumi, "Nice to meet you too, Satonaka-san. I'm sorry about earlier, I was rude to you in my excitement." The young scientist then looked around, still with her half scheming smile, "So many potentially interesting people - I love it!"

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

As Natsumi asked her question, Sienna briefly made eye contact with a black-haired Neko she hadn't seen before, who was looking their way before one of the crew at the table invited her to sit with them.

Turning her attention back to Natsumi, she scrunched up her mouth for a moment and shrugged dismissively. "Ain't much you'd be interested in," she said. "Crossed the wrong people a few years back and been stuck in Urtullan for about four years before y'all picked me up. I'm good with my hands, whether a wrench or my knuckles, either one, and I probably know a thing or two y'all don't about the south rim. Got a lot to offer y'all in trade for the ride. Ain't looking to go anywhere in particular, long as I'm not under nobody's thumb."

She left it at that. There wasn't anything else she felt particularly compelled to say.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

"What was that I'm sorry I didn't here you properly?" Izokia stammered as she tried to get the woman's attention. Seeing that she had gained it back for now Izokia took her opportunity to speak to Chieko while it was still fresh.

"Would you mind terribly if I joined you in studying the substance I've always kept science as a hobby. I mean to say I thought I could act as an assistant at least until I head out on the away team." She nervously smiled expecting the scientist to simply refuse but she had a slight glimmer of hope that the other crew member would allow her to tag along.

"This planet is accepting a risk by allowing us there," Hanako had replied to Sune. "We can show goodwill by taking the risk of landing. We should be careful not to repeat our experience on Urtullan. I would like to land the ship itself and stay for a while. It's clear at least some of the people here speak one of our languages, which is an excellent start. Maybe we can get some leeway on personal weapons but barging in wearing battle armor is not going to make a good first impression."

Hanako made a sweeping gesture at the main screen. "These ships out here do not look like military vessels. Where are all the big weapons? If we get bothered too much, we will leave and call for reinforcements."

Wardroom

Minutes later, Hanako followed Sune into the wardroom. After waiting for the crew's attention, she announced, "We have discovered a strange artificial world that is currently orbiting the star system we are in. An invitation has been extended to us to land and I want to see what there is to see. Volunteers from the crew, and Sienna, if she pleases, will explore the local area and meet people to figure out more about the nature of this planetoid."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

"That would depend on a few factors," Chieko replied to Izokia. "First -" the academic paused as she noticed Hanako arrive at the table. "We may need to discuss that later," the scientist whispered, "I think something important is coming up."

The young scientist listened as the Captain went into her briefing about what they had come across and the invitation received from the locals to meet. When the word 'volunteers' came up, Chieko started to become excited again, forgetting her hunger, and shot her hand up when Hanako paused.

Luckily Misato and Mitsuko left their cabin when they did, cause the walked in moments after the Shosho. Misato found a seat in the back of the wardroom, and sat down. As Hanako explained what she had planned Misato's stomach tightened. 'they were staying for days?' She would be at high alert the whole time, she was going to burn out. With a light sigh she looked at her roommate and gave a little smile, hoping the announcement did affect her all that harshly.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

After she saw Chieko raise her hand Izokia slowly raised her hand to volunteer for the away team. Maybe they would need a medic or at the very least they could use her for diplomatic relations. After all she didn't like making others angry regardless of speices.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

"Oh, I find this all very fascinating!" Natsumi replied and smiled, resting her chin in her palms. "I'm used to life aboard a starship and before that school, that's it, so I know you must have some awesome stories to tell, you've been through way more than I have-"

She stopped as Shosho Hanako entered the wardroom and made her announcement about the new artificial planet and the upcoming away mission to visit it peacefully. She chewed on her lip, while she was incredibly curious to see what was there, she kinda didn't want to get shot at again if things went south, which they had been a lot lately.

Natsumi was glad that it was a volunteer mission and saw a couple of the newbies jump for it right away, good, let them go this time and Natsumi could take some time to rest and maybe get to shoot the guns finally.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Thankful for the interruption, Sienna craned her neck to look over at Hanako as she addressed the room. She didn't feel like telling any such "stories" to Natsumi at the time. While she was pleasantly amused at the Neko's forward attempts to get to know her, the conversation had dug deep enough.

She listened to her briefing about an artificial world, which she found intriguing. That could mean a number of things, but none of them were anything short of a godlike accomplishment from a design and construction standpoint. She had to suppress the urge to let out a low whistle at the thought of a huge machine built to orbit a star and house thousands if not millions of lifeforms.

Her eyebrows shot up when Hanako was sure to include her by name in the eligibility pool when she asked for volunteers. She couldn't deny that she was curious to see what the skipper was talking about, but it didn't change her mind. The only time she'd seen this crew's diplomatic side had ended up with bullets flying and a rather bumpy ride offworld. She wasn't so sure she was lucky enough to survive another one of those little mishaps.

As Hanako continued, Sienna's expression turned a little darker as she realized that the captain was taking a blind risk. From what little she said about this world, she didn't know the first thing about it, or whether or not the invitation she spoke of was a trap. She'd personally known of deep space operations that feigned mechanical trouble or goodwill in order to lure in unwary ships just before they disabled them and stripped them for valuables and parts. The people she'd known wouldn't have been stupid enough to mark a Star Army gunship, but there were crazier people than them in the universe. And someone with the resources and technical ingenuity to build their own homeworld probably wouldn't be too frightened of the Eucharis.

She knew such a situation was unlikely, but not impossible. Gnawing on the inside of her cheek, she crossed her legs again, turned her shoulders out towards the open area, and resumed softly thumping her closed fist on the table.
