Re: [Mission 19.3]

Chieko wondered why the Medical Lab wouldn't be ready, other than a question of whether or not the doctor was in; but she managed only to acquire a quizzical look in her face. When Sune offered to stay in order for Hanako to go with the away team however, the scientist allowed a slight smile to cross her face. She then thought about the possibility of being able to show the captain what she brings to the table other than a gun.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

A fuzzy ear twitched and eyebrows raised in curiosity as Sune seemed to be suggesting that Hanako should go on the away mission. Natsumi had never seen the Shosho lead an away team before. She knew she had to have done so in the past, just all before Natsumi's time for sure.

The neko chewed on her lip. That would be worth going just to satisfy her curiosity to see the Shosho in action.

Wardroom Corner Booth

Sienna tilted her head slightly, looking at the back of Sune's head in bewilderment. With a sidelong glance across the table at Natsumi, she saw that the white-haired Neko appeared even more puzzled than she did. Looking back out into the room, she leaned toward the table from where she was stretched out in the booth. "Has she done that before?" she whispered to her. "The skipper, I mean. Don't the captain usually stay with the ship for these things?"

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Natsumi shook her head. "Not since I've been aboard" Natsumi whispered back. "And usually a Shosho would stay on the ship maybe save for a diplomatic mission or something like that" she thought for a moment. "Which this could end up turning into anyways if the locals are friendly"

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

While Ayumi's comment simply slipped past her mind, Izokia had to fight to keep her mouth open after what Sune had said. If he was implying that the Shosho should go to the planet, did that mean he also had confidence in the mission? She leaned into Chieko and wispered "So should we be happy shes coming with us on this one." Izokia was asking herself that question as much as she was asking Chieko.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom Corner Booth

"Huh," Sienna mused quietly as she shrugged her face and sat back upright. She didn't share Natsumi's hope that landing on whatever it was floating in space ahead of them would turn out to be in any way diplomatic or peaceful, but she could be right for all she knew.

Interlacing her fingers behind her head again, she sat back and listened.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Hanako sat up in her seat. "I do not mind leading this mission in person. After all, I am a qualified diplomat and a representative of the Empire both through the military and through the senate, and, to a lesser extent, my connection to the Imperial clan. The important thing is making a good impression. Surely these aliens have to be more accommodating and peaceful than the ones on Urtullan. It would take a lot to be worse," the Shosho said, raising her eyebrows for effect. She looked to Ayumi to answer: "We should always be prepared, especially when we do not know what to expect." The captain stood up. "If there is nothing more, I will be heading back to the bridge to see us landing. The away team uniform will be the duty uniform with the cap but no black coat. Personal sidearms only."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

"I suppose that answers that," Chieko whispered to Izokia after Hanako finished. She then looked over at the ship's captain, "How long until we disembark, Shosho?" The young scientist wanted to get a backup and food out of the way before they left the ship.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Bors was amazed that the ShoSho was going to lead the mission, though is outward expression didn't show it. Leaning back in his seat and crossing his arms he thought that they should at least bring something with firepower, judging from what happened the last time they only brought their NSPs, but it was the ShoSho's show and he would let her run it.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Once the Shosho left Misato sat there completely stunned, she dared a glance to Mitsuko. "what do I do the Shosho is going... Misato dropped her forehead to the table before her, "I'm the ranking infantry, But I don't want to leave your side." She lifted her head a few inches and dropped it again, maybe hoping to knock an answer all her problems into it.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

As Ayumi received the reply from Hanako she had to hide a small smile behind her hand. She was unsure if the captain had interpreted her question properly, however she did not attempt to correct or alter the question at all. She simply sat back and watched as the Shosho left and the others in the room reacted.

She wondered silently why the Shosho was going on the mission, and judging by the looks on some people's faces she didn't go very often. Perhaps this was just something new that Hanako was trying out, and she made a good point on diplomacy. Ayumi, for one, was not meant for such endeavours, she was not at all disappointed that she would be left behind to maintain the preparedness of the medbay.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Sune stood up out of respect for Hanako, one she was gone he said, "Okay, you heard the lady. Anyone new crew members going exploring on the planet needs to pay a visit to Medical to create a Mental Backup. The rest of you need to make sure your backups are current either via remote backup using SPINE or a visit to medical.

Make sure you are ready and waiting in the cargo hold once we touch down."

He looked at Ayumi, "There is no reason to keep the Medical Center manned when the teams head out. Just make sure that it is prepped to receive. Having medical personnel on hand with the teams is just as important. After all in the event of something unfortunate, having trained medics on hand can save lives as well."

With that he turned and walked out of the wardroom.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

With the remaining instructions from the XO delivered, Chieko turned to Izokia and smiled. "Care to back me up?" she asked the medic, thankful that the chance was still there.

The young scientist hadn't forgotten about an earlier conversation she had with another crew member about it and still wanted to ensure her safety. However, Chieko also knew that science was about boldly going into the unknown asking 'What?', 'Why?', 'How?', and in doing so there were risks involved. To tremble in fear now would be to betray everything she was; but to be prepared was only prudent.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Izokia smiled back "Of course I can give you a back up." After a few second she noticed the hint of nervousness on Chieko's face "Don't worry with a back up you'll be safe from anything that the unknown could throw at you. Plus we'll have the rest of the crew with us so no one will let us down." To finish her statement she placed her hand on the scientist's shoulder. She knew all to well how nerves could get into a persons mind and that was the last thing she would let ruin Chieko.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Takeyu wasn't exactly comfortable leaving the ship without something heavier than a pistol, just because people seemed peaceful on the surface didn't they truly were.

He choose to wait though, and sit there while thinking.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

"Well, I guess that settles that" Natsumi said after the Shosho left, then frowned. "And I guess dinners off too" she frowned some more. Sune had also left.

The operations neko got up and walked over to the kitchen , poking her head in to see if anyone was in there.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom Corner Booth

Sienna frowned, sitting up and putting her feet back on the ground as she looked around at everyone leaving. "Well damn it," she muttered, and right on cue, her stomach growled again. She gave a meaningful look at Natsumi as the Neko got up to head toward the kitchen. "No way I can be the only one too hungry to give a damn who goes ashore."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Chieko smiled at the neko and shook her head, "I'm not worried, not yet." She then began leading the way to the Med Lab, figuring she'll have to go without for now, or play with the hemosynth to make something maybe partially edible. "I don't think it will be the whole crew will be going," the scientist continued, "I'm sure those of us who do go will be enough if things go wrong, though. We'll have to be."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Izokia stood up with Chieko and began to follow, the thought of leaving Ayumi crossed her mind followed by slight guilt at leaving her colleague behind. She quickly banished that thought since she figured Ayumi didn't care and she looked content in her solitude.

Med Lab

When they stepped into the Med lab Izokia went to her notes almost immediately and began to flip to her pages on the back up system. "Do you mind if I take notes on you during the process... Medical tech development is a bit of a passion of mine." She was planning on taking notes on Chieko's backup regardless, at least this way she could ask some questions afterwards.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Med Lab

Izokia's question made a shiver run up Chieko's spine. "She's a professional," she reminded herself, "She knows what she's doing." "Notes are fine," the scientist replied somewhat sternly, "Just don't do anything out of the ordinary."

The academic made her way to the backup chair and sat down in it, getting into that old familiar position from her various upgrades. "Just make sure to put me out. Okay?" Chieko fidgeted recalling the time she tried it without.
