Re: [Mission 19.3]

Shuttle bay

"Depends on what you call 'alive'," remarked Takeyu with a smirk that was hidden by his faceplate. "After what we learned on the ship, I have to wonder if that stuff," he pointed at the vial, "is alive...."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Shuttle Bay

Chieko's grin widened at Takeyu's hedging on definition, then looked at the teal goo before sealing the vial. "In a technical sense it could very well be, or contain living constituents," she commented, stuffing the vial into the 'dirty' pocket, "As for definitions, I was mostly asking about macroscopic systems that consume energy, grow, and reproduce." The scientist's grin changed to a smirk at the last word for a short second.

"As dangerous as some things could be, there are others that could be beneficial, making them just as important to catalogue," the academic continued, "Who knows, one of the planets we stop by may have a life form that could supplement parts of our diets and ease current food shortages - never mind attenuate future problems."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Medbay

"Yes." Ayumi replied softly, "She seemed quite excited." As Izokia passed her Ayumi turned, then crossed the room to sit on the wheeling chair, turning on it to view her partner. The Neko was clearly displeased with the current behaviour of Izokia, a slight frown showing on her face. She sat in silence for a moment before speaking up.

"Hanako-Shosho will have litte use for you if you break yourself." As she said this Ayumi crossed her arms firmly over her chest. She was aware that a little self deprivating head hitting wouldn't actually cause any damage, but that didn't change the fact that she wanted Izokia's actions to stop.

Rather than continuing to face the other Neko and seeming like she was open to more actual conversation, Ayumi twisted the chair so she was facing the open door to medbay.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Med Lab

Izokia let out a soft chuckle " your right Hanako would be mad at me for breaking myself... Or the hemo tubes" she rubbed neck on impulse.

" So since I got some time before the science tech shows up why don't u tell me about why you decided to study medicine."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

When the question was asked for the second time Ayumi realised that she hadn't actually spent any time thinking about it. She blinked off into space in silence, the only indication that she'd heard Izokia was that her gaze had flicked over to the other Neko for a moment before refixing on the door.

"Probably a biological imperative of some sort." She replied calmly, "Even though I do like being able to save people." She wondered for a second more before continuing again, "Though that may be some sort of... Pleasure response for fulfilling said biological imperative." Her tone was plain, it was clear she hadn't even remotely attached any feelings to what she'd said.

There was a pause, one where Ayumi could have easily asked why Izokia had become a medical doctor, but instead she folded her hands on her lap and fell silent.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Med Lab

"So you just like helping people?" Izokia paused " she paused and thought about her own reasons for being a medic "I guess that makes sense." She pulled a loose collection of soaked crimson hair out of face as she thought about her sisters back during their battle with the NMX. "I can understand the desire to help people in need."

She stood up Izokia wanted to feel concerned about the other medic's stoicism but she was just too exhausted with regret about the away team incident. To clear her mind she walked over and grabbed her note pad and began to write headings for a new idea she had.

Medicinal properties of goo
Uses for goo
Military potential of goo
Purpose of Turquoise Substance

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Medbay

Ayumi blinked after Izokia as the other Neko stood and began scribbling in her notepad. Had she meant it how Izokia interpreted what she'd said? She wasn't really sure, but it didn't seem like a bad interpretation. When it boiled down to it truly Ayumi did enjoy helping people.

She shrugged off the thought and stood, crossing the room to the cupboards for the umpteenth time and started pulling out petri dishes as well as a few eye droppers, bringing them over to the examination room and putting them on the table.

With a quick glance around she sat back down on her chair, convinced the area was ready for the scientist whenever she should return.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Shuttle Bay

Takeyu smiled and patted Ramiro on the shoulder. "Shall we get out of this armor and get ourselves somethign to eat?" he asked his fellow soldier.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Shuttle Bay

"Aye," Ramiro said as he stood up. The prospects of food was making his stomach growl, and he groaned a little bit as he felt a twinge of pain. Walking over to the decontamination are, Ramiro stood and let the showers and nanomachines do their work.

Once the armor was completely cleaned off he hustled over to the Power Armor Bay and began removing all of his shield modules, which he then deposited into their correct locations.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Natsumi had departed the PA bay and went to her cabin to sort out a few things, then, her stomach grumbling, the showy haired Neko made her way to the wardroom to get something to eat. As she stepped into the common compartment she saw that a lot of others seemed to have the same idea in mind.

She acquired some sandwiches, a drink and some other goodies and found herself at her usual seat at the dining table and sat down. Taking a sip of her drink, she examined her lunch and decided where she wanted to start first. The recent mission had been, while not life threatening save for a sand storm, fire and possible carnivorous green goo, had been a bit on the tense side and all and now she was hungry.

She was also curious how they had seemed to pick up an entire new crew while she and here team had been off ship exploring the ruined starship.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Sune monitored the Eucharis' flight away from HX-12, the rest of the squadron was flying in formation and his sensors showed that they two were charging their engines for fold.

When the squadron had cleared the Hills Sphere, he opened the squadron channel. "Attention all vessels, prepare to fold to designated coordinates. Three.... two... one.... Engage Fold." he sent the command into the console.

The Squadron ship's were each enveloped in a growing teal sphere, that then increased in intensity. Then when the fold field reached the threshold level, each of the Plumeria vanished in a flash of light leaving a scattering of teal flashes behind.

Sune punched a command and on all status screens on the Eucharis a count down timer appeared.

He dialed the ship's intercom and lifted the hand set. "Attention all hands, we have left HX-12 and are enroute to an unexplored system. We are at Condition Four."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Shuttle Bay

"I will be along once I take a few samples from the shuttle," Chieko bowed, then headed up the ramp to grab some of the goo that seemed to be growing in the shuttle. Another fresh vial and stick were soon in the scientist's hands as she went over the interior to work out what would be the best place to take from. Part of her figured it wouldn't really matter, due to everything having come in contact with local microorganisms at the moment of contact, but if she could locate the best sample, she'd rather that first.

While looking around, the academic noticed some vibrations change and later the announcement of their leaving HX-12 and the current readiness condition. She sighed figuring they grabbed the co-ordinates and started moving; not that it bothered here, it just meant she needed to get going quicker in order to eat and see the new location when they arrive. With that in mind, Chieko filled the last two vials and headed towards decon.

"Eucharis," she called to the AI, "the shuttle can be cleaned up now."

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Cabin #4

Misato heard the message from the XO, "Looks like we are off again, any bets of if we are going to be in combat again in a few hours?" She tried to laugh it off but even that sounded forced and hollow.

She was worried about failing everyone, and even more so now worried about Mitsuko's fear of the Mindys, maybe tonight she could ask her and find out more about it.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

PA Bay

As Sienna, now fully dressed in her regular clothes, deposited the AMES back on the rack where it belonged, she felt the tingling sensation deep in the pit of her stomach. The ship had commenced another jump.

Swallowing, she blinked and steadied herself against the weird feeling, and started to make her way to the wardroom.

Wardroom

Sienna's boots thudded lightly against the flooring as she walked into the wardroom, her stomach growling now. The business on that planet had been a little taxing on her, and she hadn't realized she was hungry before.

Several people were already milling about the tables, several of whom she didn't recognize. In fact, Natsumi was the only face that looked familiar to her. She didn't think much of it, however. It had only been a couple of days since she'd come aboard; there was no way she could have been familiar with every crew member yet, nor did she honestly care to.

She didn't see anything set out on the buffet, but with all the activity in here, she figured it shouldn't be long. Running both her hands through her hair once more, she strode around the perimeter of the room to the corner booth she'd sat in last time, and quietly sat down, folding her hands on the table. She blew out a long, slow breath as she casually surveyed the room, wondering idly what would be served.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Cabin 4

"Knowing our luck, I'd say seventy thirty. Unless its one of those 'Peaceful Missions'" Air quoting over his last words. Starring down at his stained shirt he gave a small sigh "Should pry change this before showing up to lunch eh?"

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Cabin 4

Mitsuko groaned, leaning over the desk, laying her arms and face against it. She shook her head, smushing her face around against the surface. "Already? I can't handle any more of this today..." She sighed, not moving from her new position, just waiting for more bad news.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Sitting inconspicuously in the corner booth, Sienna listened to the idle chatter of the Nekos as they passed through the wardroom. One of her eyebrows arched upwards as she overheard some of the details of how the other away team had fared on their mission. Apparently they'd been ambushed planetside, and one of them killed.

If she thought her experience in the sludgy depths of the derelict ships had been unpleasant, she was now more glad than ever she hadn't gone on to investigate the squids' base, which evidently wasn't empty. Even more interesting to her was the fact that apparently the rumors she'd heard about Nekovalkyrja being able to transfer their consciousness into another body upon death were true, as the one who'd found herself on the business end of a Mishhu's weapon was apparently back on board and perfectly fine. She leaned back in the booth, folding her arms across her chest as she narrowed one eye in thought. If that was indeed the truth, she wondered why she'd hesitated to shut Takeyu and Ramiro in the burning room when it looked like her own life was in danger. Sure, it had worked out in the end, but they had been lucky. In those situations, hesitating even for a second could mean the difference between living and dying. And she hadn't survived this long by relying on good fortune.

Had they died in the fire, Takeyu and Ramiro could have simply reanimated themselves, or downloaded into new bodies, or whatever term they used for it. Now that she knew for certain that Nekos were effectively immortal, she wouldn't let herself make that mistake again. They couldn't die, but she could. It made no sense for her to put herself at risk for their sake.

In light of this, she wondered further why Egil had reacted so vehemently when she'd suggested euthanizing Conrad when it appeared he'd been infected with a Mishhu parasite, but it was possible that the giant ID-SOL didn't have the same resurrection ability.

She blinked and sighed conclusively, shifting in her seat. Things were in perspective now; there wasn't any need to dwell further on it. She crossed her legs beneath the table, rubbing her abdomen as her stomach growled again. She certainly hoped that a meal would be served soon. She was no stranger to hunger, but knowing what this ship's cook could produce was more than a tease to her right now.

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Unknown Star System, 2 hours later

The Eucharis arrived in the system to find itself among a vast collection of strange and unfamiliar starships all orbiting a huge glowing planet with a murky surface. Immediately the Yamataian gunship was hailed with a text message in Trade: "You are welcome to visit provided your intentions are not violent and you do not bring weapons." A set of landing coordinates followed.

Bridge

Hanako's response was concise. "I am accepting volunteers for a peaceful away mission," she announced over the intercom. "I will meet with the crew momentarily in the wardroom for dinner."

The Shosho pondered what the new cooks, Conrad and Armundo, had came up with now that it was their turn to make dinner..

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Natsumi rubbed her temples as she lazed in her chair, her mind semi-numb. She was curious where everyone else was and pondered if she should just return to her cabin and take a nap, but then she swept her red eyes around the compartment and spotted Sienna sitting alone in the far booth.

The snow haired neko got up and walked over. "Hi" she said and smiled pleasantly. "Can I join you?" she asked. "I wanted to ask how you are doing? I know it must all be really strange, everything since you've come aboard"

Re: [Mission 19.3]

Wardroom

Takeyu casually walked into the wardroom, carrying his ICP that he was using to mark down a few items he would get the next time they were in port. When he noticed Natsumi, he smiled at the Neko although when he saw Sienna he wasn't as impressed.

"Good day," he finally said to Natsumi and Sienna, although he hid his disdain for Sienna behind a professional working expression.
