RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 3.1] Menace in the dark

Elisto's second volley detonated the two missiles at a distance that was still safe for the APCs.

A minute later their Threat Con detected another missile launch, because the Kawarime were lower in the atmosphere, they were able to get a better fix on the launch point. The missiles locked onto the two fighters almost immediately after launch. The location of the launch point was 25 miles east of their destination, from the side of a mountain.

Elisto spun his fighter around as his systems pegged the target where the missiles had come form. He waited until the missiles were closer, as he didn't want to get to far from the transports and risk leaving them exposed, then he made a banking turn.

"New targets! Escort two intercept but keep within range of the transports please. We'll wait until they are clear of the mesosphere and able to meneuver before going after that launch site!" He called to Errowyn before switching over the transports frequency.

He pressed the trigger and peppered the incoming missiles with laser fire. He was so focused on the keeping the transports safe, he hadn't sent in the message to the Chui on the ground and hoped that perhaps the officer would understand if they somehow already knew they had fighter support in the area.

"Transport one, transport two, what is your status over?" he asked to the two ships they were escorting.

"Transport 1 to Escort, 30 seconds until we exit the Mesosphere. All systems nominal. Increasing rate of descent..." The two Yusou accelerated their speed and soon were below the Mesosphere. "Control nominal, we are going weapons hot with our turrets. We will continue on to the LZ, while you two deal with who or what is shooting those missiles. Transport 1 out."

Errowyn scanners comfirmed what she estimated where the launchers were and smile abit predatory as she took the call from Elisto with a simple "hai" helping to take out the incoming missiles that were aimed at them. Hearing the transports going hot with their weapons.

Quick targeting and once the firing solution came up, she fires it at her assigned missile.

Having located the missile launch site. Who ever placed them, knew what they was doing. It was gonna be a tough nut to crack.

Scanning the sector around the target zone for any more nasty surprises that were hidden and not emitting any signatures, looking for surface vehicles big enough that could hold anti-aircraft weapon system that dont require much power to operate on.

Elisto banked his fighter and lined up and let off somemore fire onto the missiles as his sensors scanned the area where the missiles came from to identify what launch platform was used.

"Escort two, keep your eyes peeled," ordered Elisto as he scanned the horizon. Missiles only? he was suspicious.

"Hai, Escort one," Errowyn made more adjustments to her as she dealt with her missile and continued scanning as she formed up on Elisto, above and left of his six where she had altitude of manuever. Glancing over her payload of weapons to chose from, hoping there was at least something equal to a bunker buster as anti-ship missiles would work.

Elisto's gut was telling him to be more on alert now than before, in the past he had several layers of armor including a shield to protect him from external threats.

Now, all he had was a shield rated for a fighter and very little armor to boot.

"Escort two? Prepare for an assault run once we get a positive ID on who is firing those missiles," he sent and changed his angle of flight, pointing his nose upward by a bit while still tracking the distant missiles by following their con-trails.

"Hai," Errowyn simply replied as she made adjustment in her flight path to allow Elisto room to manuever his Kawarime. Still staying in postion and lookng for more threats, as they prepped to do a strafing run on the enemies' postion.

As the two Kawarime started making their run, they were painted with RADAR from multiple locations. A moment later the Threat Con systems detected targeting signals they had missiles coming from two different vectors.

Before the missiles could strike however, the shields started registering damage in the form of high-velocity projectiles striking the shields.

"This is Escort One flying out the YSS Yamato to Nu-" Elisto started saying before his fighter's shields flared from the sudden projectile impacts, causing him to cease his transmission to the twenty first and dive lower to reduce the likelyhood of being locked by enemy AAA.

"Escort two, hit that launch site quick, I'll hit the missiles," said Elisto as he sent the targets coordinates for the site to Errowyns fighter, then pulled the trigger and opened fire on the missiles ahead of him, hoping that the launch site would consider him the biggest threat and not notice a second Yamatai fighter closing in on them.

Errowyn eyes widen as her heart raced with adreniline, heighting her sences as she found the sourse of the projectiles were coming from, whipping her ship around in a tight arch andiving towards the gun emplacements, lets loose a steady stream of Aether cannon fire into the emplacement and pulling up to skim across the trees tops. hunting for the radars to put them out of commision

Realizing that Elisto had called, she responded with a soft "Hai" acknowledging him.

The two Kawarime streaked towards the launch point of the weaponry. Elisto made short work of the missiles with his cannons, and his scan showed that there were two weapon emplacements on the side of the mountain.

The emplacements were pinging him with active RADAR trying to target and try to get a lock on him, until Errowyn's assault reduced them to so much smoking debris that was raining down the side of the mountain.

After the fighters flew past the Threatcon went into standby as there was no detected scanning.

Errowyn quickly joined up with Elisto, once the threats been neurtalized and and reduced to junk. She looked over her weapons payload. Missiles were two short, the ones she used and duly recorded as used in defence of the transports, her flight leader and herself. Using enough force to neutralize the threat.

A clean run as her instructor tester would say after such a sorty. She smiled as confidence rose within her. She was gaining that combat experience with a good record so far.

Elisto allowed himself a brief sigh of relief, before going back to work and looking around their area. "Escort two? Keep an eye out please while I contact the Chui," he said cautiously.

He knew there were more out there, they still had a second launch site somewhere after all but it seems they weren't pinging them anymore. Are they scare of us now? he asked himself worriedly before transmiting his message.

Code:
This is escort one flying out of the YSS Yamato to Numa-Chui, please respond over.

As he waited for a response, be banked his fighter around and started back toward the exhibition site. All the while mindful that they were still in enemy territory.

Atsui looked at her communicator as it sounded. Escort one? The Yamato.... she was bound for Veronica on her maiden voyage... cryptic to say the least. she thought.

"This is Numa Atsui-Chui, identify yourself. We have rescued the captives and are making our way back to the SSS encampment."

Elisto, quite literally, smacked himself over the head for forgetting protocal. "Wow, nice going Elisto you just forgot to identify yourself to a ranking officer you fool," he berated himself before responding to the Chui.

Code:
"Apologies Chui. This is Tereane Elisto-Itto Hei. Here to provide air support."

Errowyn, after acknowledging Elisto's call to her, listened in on the call to Numa-Chui, she purred softly as she kept an eye on the threat console and area around them, flying up higher and to the left of Elisto's Kawarime. She checked on the progress of the two transport seeing how they was doing as they approached the SSS Encampment.

Despite their circling the suspected area, there was not so much as an electronic hiccup. The Threat Con system continued to report no threat, no targeting signals and no viable targets detected.

Elisto's fighter roared over the encampment, glancing downward to see the LUT's as they exited the forest. "Seem's they made it, or at least, I'm assuming that is them anyway," he said as he slowed his fighter down a bit and then glaced from side to side while checking his threatcon system.

Code:
Numi-Chui, do you need any assistance?

"Escort two? You see anything groundside moving toward our forces?" he asked, wanting to keep Errowyn on her toes.

"We are okay now, thanks for looking out for us." Atsui replied, "Land by the other fighters and come find me. Numa-Chui out."
