"I suppose I did. People can be ... problematic. There is so much evil in man, so much aggresion, mindless anger, sadistic streaks, violence against those smaller and weaker than them," she clenched her left fist, "and yes, sometimes I think I'd like to be away, in the army, where I can control who I talk to, and where people are at least honest about their violence." She turned away for a moment and brushed her eyes with the back of her hand, before turning back, "So you want to stay like that or have them removed in a bit?" She smiled.

Sypher said:
Suzi appeared in front of the Nepleslian man, along with a map of the Nozomi ship. "Hello there. I'm Suzi, the ships AI. How can I be of service?"

'Ah, AIs,' thought Lachlan to himself, 'noble little creatures.' With a smile he straightened up for his first encounter aboard his new home. "Hallo, Technician Lachlan Henessey, looking for a place to report in and stow my gear." He kept his smile broad and his face open, determined to put the best foot forwards for his new life, hoping to make friends and find a niche in a workshop somewhere. As long as there weren't too many nekovalkyrjas aboard, life should be grand, he felt.

Suzi smiled back at the man. "Well you are in luck." She produced a map in front of the man; it showed the areas that still had free bunks. "Pick one of these, you could sleep in the armour pilots quarters. The situation at the moment is, that there are only four people on the ship, excluding you and me." This was preceded with a smile. "The others are on Bowhordia, the Captain is also down there leading them. I am not sure how long it will be before they come up." She smiled at him and tilted her head; this was becoming a common thing now. "You may be able to go down."

"Sir." Eve unstealthed her ACS so she could be picked up visually as her commander and the rest of the team landed in the small clearing near the burning cannon. "I suggest we have the Mikomi take another pass. If she is no longer fired upon, she can provide closer support, and at the very least run a scan on wherever our final destination is again." she suggested over the channel coding provided before they all had left. "By your order, of course. Either way I suggest we don't stay long, sir." she added somewhat meekly, motioning an arm in the direction they had been advancing.

Kestral looked at Eve. He was still in a slight bit of pain, but he didn't let it show. If his crew saw that he was injured they may become less confident, or worse. Anyway it wasn't that bad. "I will try and connect with the Mikomi, they may not be able to receive any messages from us." He turned round so that he was looking away from the crew. Suzi can you hear me? Take another pass, see if there is still resistance, and have a look and see what is our enemy, if any." He cut the connection of and waited. He really wasn't sure this would work.

"....uzi....can...o....hear...e? Take....other......ass...see if there is...istance..............enemy, if any." That is the entire message Suzi received from Kestral. There rest was static. She had been scanning Bowhordia when the message came through. She opened up a connection. "Sure thing Captain. Coming down now." They began the descent in to the atmosphere of Bowhordia.

"You'd be surprised how many are in the army that don't show their real emotions. Not even among friends."

Kato's date pad made a low beep that he had received a message and his eyes turned to look at it resting on the bed he was sitting on.

"Yeah you can pull them out if you like, or just have MEGAMI dissolve them."Kato reached over and picked up the data pad while his memory traveled back to when he had sent off a resume to a few research and development firms.

Research and Developer Ittô Heisho Kato Tanaka

Currently interested in a lab that will allow a Dimensional Theorems and Explosives scientist access to materials and technology that would help in development of a few projects I am currently working on.

Projects I am currently working on are followed:

Skipper Missile - (A long list of notes and design schematics on a stealth based missile.)

EMP-P2B - (A basic rendering of a gun based for disabling electronics from what info he had collected off a weapon of smilier design yet wasn't able to complete it yet.)

(A list of ammunition types for the EMP-P2B using nanomites.)

I would need a few days to transfer out of the Army and then get transport to a location of your choice.

The resume had a bit more to it but it was mostly junk to show how willing he would be to join a corporation that allowed him to start development on his ideas.

Reality hit Carlos in the face like a hammer. His eyes shot open, his immediate awareness was pain. Throbbing pain. Where? ...Leg. Throbbing leg pain. Ow. I have to roll over...

He groaned in pain at first, letting it build to a low roar as he hauled himself over onto his back and looked down to see what plagued his left leg. It didn't look too bad...hurt like a bastard though. He doubted he could walk...where was everyone else? Now he managed to take stock of the situation, hauling himself up to rest on his elbows, looking from side to side. Just an endless expanse of wilderness, desolate and lonely. How had he even gotten here? Oh yeah...dropping. How had he gotten so far off course? He was dropping, everything was hunky-dory...then he woke up here and in considerable pain. He tried the radio, broadcasting out, hoping to reach the team.

"Ergh...this is Nitô Heisho Carlos Luera De la Vega...can anyone hear me?" He toggled off the radio and waited a moment.

----------------------------------

Meanwhile Saeki started, pausing. She looked off airly into the distance, still clutching her rifle.

"...Ni-........................hear m-..."

"Captain, I'm getting a very garbled transmission here. Lots of interference. It sounds like...a male voice, I think. All I could make out was 'Hear me'. "

Such was the message Kato recieved.

"Uhm." Ghi muttered, and quickly took the needles out of his back, "Well this has been a pleasant diversion if nothing else."

The static radio from Carlos reached Daduar rather fast and he began to filter it through his computer to clear it out. Due to the lovely nature of Bowhordia it took a while to fragment the message so it made sense. Standing up from his position, Daduar began to run rather quickly.

"Nitô Heisho Carlos Luera De la Vega, I can hear you loud and clear and am trying to locate you. Can you give me any clues to your position?â€

"Only four other people aboard?" Lachlan blinked a couple times. "Playing a little fast and loose are we?" No wonder everything had seemed so quiet. He was on a ghost ship! With the Captain off the ship as well, no less. Lachlan guessed he'd have to wait to report in to his new commander. He opened his mouth to add something else, when he heard a change in the background noise of the ship's powerplants and engines. "Is the ship descending as well?" he asked.

Suzi nodded happily. They where descending fast, and so how she had managed to lock on to the Captain signal. They where about five minutes from landing and already aether beams where gliding towards them, left, right and centre. She was doing a good job of moving around them though. "I suggest you get a Phalanx on. We are coming in and are going to hover over the area where the Captain is. You can get of there. Unless you don't want to." She was still moving the ship around. This was when all hell broke loose and at least fifty cannons came out of their hiding place. The shield where up and keeping the damage at bay. Though Suzi was managing to manoeuvre around most of the clustered shots. She decided this was the time to fight back. The Captain was at ground level and wasn't going to mind that much if she defended the ship. She released seven torpedoes, and brought out all of the phods, letting them fire their weapons, finally she returned the aether beams and shot back at all of the weapons.

Kestral meanwhile watched all of this happen, and as soon as he saw the Mikomi realised why. It hadn't come this low before. He got up from his kneeling position and gestured to the group. Seeing what had happened to Daduar. Why did he go of on his own? Kestral thought to himself while moving around to give him covering fire. He noted the two blow up and he began firing at the ones still standing. Oh my God, there are so many of these things. Then it all broke lose as Suzi released the weapons. Explosions could be heard miles away and they where right next to them. It wasn't going to harm any of the crew, but it was loud and people got the feeling that it could hit them. Kestral dived and shot in one move rolling towards Daduar. "Daduar, get over here." He reached out, and as he did and beam cut across his wrist, not a direct hit. However close to it. "Where is Carlos? Team I want you to set up a perimeter and find this man. He has to be around here. He reached out again and took Daduar b y the arm dragging him behind the boulder. He then proceeded to fire back at the canons shooting at them.

So far, the situation wasn´t looking good. The battle was being struggled within, yet the enemy was overwhelming and that started to take down the group, one by one. Natalie had that in mind, while thrashing and shooting the enemies around. It was not an academy practice, but she was doing well enough; just a minor hull damage so far.

"I'm taking fire, I'm taking fire! I am urgently in need of assistance.â€

Meanwhile, a large lizard-type creature wandered across the battlefield, oblivious to the firefight. Strangely enough, the weapons completely ignored it as it rummaged around in the sand with a greyish tongue, slurping up beetles every so often.

"Ok Natalie, go get him. I am looking out for you." He looked her way and kept his eyes around her. Firing every so often making sure she was not being shot at while looking for Carlos. He got to his knees and looked around this was bad, really bad. He just hoped this was the last of the guns. While thinking this he took out another one of the machines. What the fuck is all of this, there are no men with the things. He looked at the Mikomi that was above them, and hoped everything was ok on board. While this was happening the Mikomi was taking out one gun after another. It was fast winning the battle over these things. Though more kept popping up every so often.

"Ok Natalie, go get him. I am looking out for you."

"Roger that, captain."

Natalie hovered to lower plains, deploying a couple of drones to go ahead and scan over Carlos, now just returning fire with the plasma projector to the guns that were shooting at her.

"Found Carlos sir"

Taking advantage of the great acceleration of the Phalanx, Natalie quickly moved over Carlos, sending her remaining drones to cover her path to Carlos...

"Sir! can you move?!" Natalie said by the loudspeaker, seldomly returning fire to the guns that were shooting at her.

"Can I get a damp cloth after you get the last of those needles out? I'll need to wipe off the blood before I put the uniform back on."

Kato keyed up another page on his Data pad and sent it to Star Army command. He had taken the liberty of having already typed up a request to be discharged.

"I thought you were going to do some blood work? I'm in no hurry to go anywhere, Suzi can take care of herself for the most part."

He set his data pad down he wasn't expecting an answer from command for some time.

Having been separated from Eve during the short fire-fight, Masako frowned at to how poorly she was doing on this ground-side operation. "Should have stayed in space," she mumbled to herself as she suddenly caught a brief burst of Carlos' transmission.

Then transmissions about a fire-fight occurring hit her receivers like a tidal wave. Trying to concentrate and listen to the transmissions, the young neko was surprised as she bumped into a rather large lizard. Gasping a bit in surprise, she nearly brought her GM-06 around in reflex.

Staring at it for a while, she lowered her weapon and noticed that the guns weren't firing at it. "Uh...Chusa-san..." Masako sent a transmission to Kestrel. "There's something strange here."

Saeki surged forward as the cannons began to pound away at the rest of the group, taking cover behind a boulder before hopping up to snap off shot after shot at the turrents. She was determined to slag those things before they nailed one of her comrades again.
"Fuck, they're all over this planet!" She continued to squeeze off precise shot after precise shot, trying to take them down one by one.

Meanwhile Carlos faded back into unconsciousness, only opening his eyes and realizing the situation as Natalie stood over him. An angel had come to rescue him. He hauled himself up once more on his elbows and looked down at his leg "Thank god you're here! Egh, I don't know...I think something happened to my leg. It hurts like hell and I can't walk..."

While crouching and taking a closer look to the injured man, she said with a soft voice "Don´t worry Carlos, we will take you outta this hell..."

"This is Dawning reporting. I found Carlos injured at my current location. The enemy is still present in the perimeter. I am wounded as well. I need backup now!... please captain, order our temporal retreat!... this is insane, we´re about being slaughtered!"
she finished the transmission with a anxious voice. A couple of turrets were still firing at her with no aim; Carlos and her was being covered by a big boulder that offered a decent protection.

Natalie was taking too much of the scene. A rush of past memories of her accident were pushing off her limits. The meaningless battle and the inminent danger in every inch of the scorched land made her unsure enough to crouch and hold Carlos head against her body. She started to cry.

"My god, Carlos... what are we doing here? we don´t even know what are we fighting, the damn enemy is everywhere, the computers are being hacked and the worst of all, we´re starting to fall!!... look at yourself, who the hell knows how did you get hurt in that way..."

Then the scarred woman tasted the bitterness of her tears. She raised her head slowly, taking deep breaths, to get herself a shoot of adrenalin, issued by the nodal system of the phalanx.

The exhalations got loudier now, and opening the radio channel again, she yelled "Where in hell is my backup?!! i need you now here!"

He couldn't help but be torn between frustration and amusement at Suzi's indecisive suggestions to suit up. Santo Hei's are paid to follow orders, not make them up. "Why are you asking me what I wanna do?" asked Lachlan of Suzi. "I'm a Technician, I fix what you put in front of me," he asked with some amusement. "Where does the Captain need me, aboard ship to fix the returning armours, or down there to patch under fire." Grabbing hold of his blue-suited shoulder, he shook the simple red patch at Suzi. "No son of Nepleslia would back down from a fight, but a soldier needs orders!"
