"I think tests of any sort are better done in my Virtual Reality rooms, rather than playing with dangerous military hardware that's known to be occasionally wonky in order to produce electrical-like effects."

"You know, if you want to join in on the Pick-On-Sanjuro-Club, you should probably touch base with Kurohoshi-Juni and Saito-Heisho," the AI then suggested.

"Why would I want to pick on Ashitaka-Heisho? I merely think that it would be a good test of his skills. Especially considering he'd be ready for such a test in a VR sim. Of course, there are more reasons than just that that caused me to suggest such a test. One of them might be a chance to create a situation that would force Ashitaka-Heisho to take back the gift I gave him, which he so rudely placed in my drawers." Yoroko paused allowing her words to sink in.

"Of course, I understand that you are not some tool to be used to attempt to 'get back' at Ashitaka-Heisho, which is why I suggested this simulated injury. It provides practical and valid experience for our medical team, which directly benefits both the crew and yourself. It does so without tipping them off that it's a test, it's proven people perform differently during tests than in real life situations. But I guess if you'd like we can avoid this, but don't blame me when somebody breaks their neck near the CFS unit and the medical team fails to react appropriately." Somewhere during her speech Yoroko realized she was definitely getting demoted for this.

"I believe most of the command staff needs to be introduced to you," Masako began calmly. "You'd have to report to Nyton Claymere-taii, the Tactical Officer, and Ketsurui Kotori-taisa, the Ship's Captain. Then there is Tom Freeman-juni, our Chief Engineer, since you will probably be working with him in case you're needed to aid in repairs." she explained before pausing. "There is also Ketsurui Sora-shoi, our medical officer, and her samurai, Hasegawa Sumaru. And don't worry about there being two princesses on board, they are very easy to get along with," Masako explained, hoping to cut off the same panic Yoroko had about the subject.

"You've already met Ashitaka-heisho, Suzuka-shosa, and Saito-heisho," she thought out loud as she pursed her lips in thought. "You've got to meet your fellow new recruits and your seniors in the Armor Wing, Mizuno Yoroko-hei and Nakamura Kai-hei," the raven-haired Warrant Officer continued before pausing again. "Oh, and Takuma Kimura-heisho, our Computer Specialist," she finished with a smile before pausing again. "Oh and then their are the sprites," she amended before chuckling. "I'm still not used to the size of our sprite complement. Until last mission, we only had Mara, Hinoto, Ichigo, and Nimura, but now we have twenty more and all of them are Technical Sentries," the smaller Neko explained. "Oh...you also have to meet Sigurd-san, our resident Custodian War Android, Mara and him are such an item," she commented before snorting at the inside joke.

Tsuya listened patiently to each name in the list, her eyes going wider and wider as Masako went on. She tried to commit most of the names to memory, but there were just so many!

"...that is quite a lot of people, Kurohoshi-juni! I admit I am a bit nervous..." She bit her bottom lip gingerly. "...especially if any of them go how my meeting with Ashitaka-heisho did."

"Oh no, Ashitaka-heisho is a 'unique' person," she emphasised with an embarrassed expression on her face. "The majority of the crew is much more friendly in comparison. Well, except for maybe Takuma-heisho. He's much more aloof, but the rest would probably be very glad to meet you," she explained with a cute smile.

"Now the new recruits, I don't know," she stated with a shrug. "This Nagamira-hei, what is she like?"

"I am glad you are all so friendly, then," Tsuya laughed, the armor commander's cute smile cheering her up a tad. "Nagamira-hei is... quiet. I did not talk with her much, but she is skilled in combat, and I hope I will have a chance to get to know her better. We have something in common, at least..."

Takuma pounded a flurry of keys, adding a neatly arranged mess of code to an open program. Suddenly his fingers stopped. His eyes scanned the code. Everything was in order. The only thing left was to run...!

Crash. Slam. The technician's head hit the front of his desk almost in unison with the error message, almost like he was expecting the failure. Actually, he had the program in this state the entire morning, so it was no surprise to him. It was only a false sense of hope that kept him going.

"I should probably take a break," Takuma mumbled, removing himself from his chair. He straightened his uniform that lost its smooth shape from sitting in various random positions at his computer. His hair had gone slightly disheveled fighting the computer, but a quick brush through put it mostly back in line. His right bang shouted in rebellion like normal. He didn't feel like doing battle with the rebel hair so he just gave in to its demands. "We have new recruits today, don't we?" Takuma muttered to no one in particular. Maybe I should go make myself known. His time on the Miharu hadn't been much of a social one. Many people on the ship he only knew by a name and a face, so it was about time to fix that.

"Miharu, could you show me where the new crew members are converging?" After a sarcastic remark from the AI he forgot to remember, he walked to the Observation Deck. He walked into the room fully intent on being social, but a great enemy stood before him.

A beautiful view. Takuma stopped in the doorway and gazed out the windows at the endless black sky that surrounded the ship. Only a few brave dots of light pierced the sheet of darkness, but no matter how small, light shines the brightest when surrounded by the darkest. The looming view of the planet below seemed like the only thing separating the ship from the sea of space. Lost in thought for a moment, he leaned against the door frame and absorbed the sight.

Ketsurui Sora had spent her morning in silent contemplation as she went about her morning grooming routine. She was free for a few hours since Ashitaka had insisted on the first shift this morning in order to conduct his own evaluations of the new crew members. She had reluctantly agreed to it since she felt that the man needed the practice working with... people that weren't almost dead.

It'll be a good experience for him to bond with the crew, she reasoned as she finished getting dressed and checked her data pad for her supply requests. She wanted to include some books for the crew in the medical bay in case they had to wait for a little while or if they got laid up from any injuries. She was greeted, when she checked the list, with Sanjuro's corrections to the medical supply order.

"What in mother's name?" She murmured as she double checked what modifications were made. It annoyed her that he had changed it without telling her but she couldn't find any fault to what additions he had actually made. "I'll have to have a talk with him but it's not really that big of a deal, these changes are actually pretty good," the young medical officer sighed as she made her own changes to the list.

Sora had a great number of things to talk to Sanjuro about but it was difficult since he was very adept at his job, just not the personal interaction part. It would have to be on her list of things to do today provided that the man had managed to get a proper amount of rest last night. She had to shake her head as she put her data pad away and left her room.

Food was next on her mental to do list and she decided that she needed to increase her vitamin B and D intake since her mood had been in dire straits. She hoped that the increase would help her feel better since she was starting to feel more psychical side effects. I guess if Cherry were here she'd tell me to get laid, and that'd solve all my problems but I don't think that would help with the other problem I'm having.

Without much fanfare, she ate her vitamin enriched breakfast on the observation deck when she noticed that her data pad was chirping at her, "1 new message from OBASAN."

Well that was better, Tsuya was finally starting to calm down a bit. "Really? Well, I can't wait to meet her then." the Warrant Officer replied. "Maybe one of the new recruits coming up is her? A friendly face always helps those new assignment jitters after all," the raven-haired Neko chuckled.

"Anyway, did Nagamira-hei exhibit any skills that impressed you?" Masako asked inquisitively.

Tsuya drummed her fingers on her knee. "I do hope she comes up... it would be nice to see her again. I noticed that she picked up a rifle as soon as she could, and I was aware that she is a sniper, but I was not lucky enough to see her actually exhibit those skills..."

Yoroko frowned at Miharu's reply. It was well enough that it probably didn't work out, since after all those tests usually required the Taisas approval and this was definetly not worth it.

Yoroko flopped back into her nest, trying to think of alternatives. Over the period of a half hour Yoroko discovered a suprisingly simple solution. If he left it in my room then I can leave it in his.

With that Yoroko stood and moved off to Sanjuro's room. More likely than not the good Doctor wasn't in his room which was good for Yoroko.

The door to Sanjuro's room swooshed open and allowed the Hei to enter. The room before her was bare, one would have to wonder if Sanjuro even lived in there at all. I'd better get this done with quickly. Yoroko thought as she walked over to Sanjuro's night table and put the planner on top of it.

Just as Yoroko turned to exit the room something more...insidious occurred to the Hei. The Hei quickly turned and began slowly combing through Sanjuro's drawers and closet space, reorganizing it for him. While the Doctor's sense of organization was impeccable Yoroko's experience as a former servent, mostly as a maid, had taught her many different methods for organization all of which she happily exploited in the quest to reorganize Sanjuro's room.

Once she was done Yoroko wrote a note to Sanjuro and stuck it on the planner, which now sat sqaurely in the center of Sanjuro's bed:

Yoroko's Note said:
Ashitaka-Heisho,

I noticed that you left your day planner in my room while you were cleaning it for me earlier this morning so I took the liberty of returning it to your quarters. I realize that you must be quite busy with your duties as medical officer aboard the Miharu and have little time to attend to your own personal needs. Because of this I went ahead and organized your room for you as a 'thank you' for all of your hard work.

Mizuno Yoroko

P.S.

Next time please be more careful about where you place your belongings Ashitaka-kun. I never quite do know where they go so I might have to reorganize the entire room to make an appropriate place for them. <3 <3

Yoroko drew two big hearts at the end of that last sentence and considered drawing other 'cute' animals before deciding that it wasn't necessary. Soon after the familiar woosh of the door there was nobody else in the room, but the light was still on.

Kaida nodded meekly in response, "I specialize in sharpshooting and sniping. I don't believe in having to fire more than once to take down an enemy."

She continued up to where the datapad said they were supposed to, stopping only once to hit the device against the wall when the screen started flickering. Soon enough the two arrived at their destination, which Kaida put her datapad away just as she walked in, "Juni...?"

"Sniping ability, eh?" Masako hummed in thought as she scratched the tip of her left ear. That sort of long-range support was just what the Wing needed. While Yukari was a great marksman, she was also the ship's Executive Officer and that made her ineligible for such a small role. "That's perfect," the scheming Neko replied with a smile just as her other recruits arrived.

They were another pair of average-height Nekovalkyrja, which meant they were at least four inches taller than the raven-haired Warrant. Gazing at them as she stood up, Masako noticed how unique the duo appeared. The taller of the two had hair that was close to Masako's length and was milk-white in color, but had beautiful violet eyes. The other Santo Hei had hair slightly longer than the other enlisted woman, only this time it darker and quite blue in color. The other recruits eyes were also a unique orange color that seemed to sparkle. And while the taller Neko seemed to have been out in the sun enough, the smaller one had a skin tone that was slightly more pale than Masako's own creamy tone.

The observations would only be a quick glance to the new recruits as Masako put on her best, cute smile. "Yes, I'm Kurohoshi Masako-itto juni, Armor Wing Leader and Security Officer of the Miharu," she introduced herself. "And this is your fellow new recruit, Yamada Tsuya-santo hei," she introduced Tsuya as well as she waited for the two recruits to come closer.

Tsuya's ears drooped a tad, but she didn't have time to voice her complaint before the other recruits showed up. She stood, bowing deeply to the newcomers.

"Nagamira-hei. Gunshin-hei. It is good to meet you both."

Kaida seemed to cheer up a little as she saw Tsuya, "Yamada-Hei... You left early?" Of course, she was assuming that she had arrived a fair amount of time earlier than she had. She smiled towards the woman she had spent time with during their training.

Her eyes turned to Masako whom Kaida was slightly suprised to see her a bit shorter than everyone else in the room. Then again, she was slightly taller than most. An interesting contrast, certainly. She inclined her head respectfully. "Santo Hei, Nagamira. Reporting." She folded her hands in front of her lap idly.

Tsuya gave Kaida a small smile in return, also giving her a slight bow. Just in case.

"I have only been here a few minutes, Nagamira-hei... I am glad you are here." She grinned again. "I missed you."

Kyou bowed to Masako. "Santo Hei, Gunshin Kyoufuu. Reporting as ordered." She smiled at the reunion of Tsuya and Kaida. Sadly, none of her friends from training were here, but she would live.

Masako bowed slightly in reply to both Neko as she motioned to the seats. "Please sit," she offered as she returned to her seat. Waiting for them all to sit down, the small Warrant Officer smiled at the new recruits. "All right, as I was talking to Yamada-hei earlier, I want to get a feel for everyone's strengths in order to see where they stand in the Armor Wing." the Raven-haired Neko began as her space-black eyes glanced over them all.

"Before you arrived, we only had four combat specialists on board the Miharu: Claymere-taii, Nakamura-hei, Mizuno-hei, and myself," she explained calmly. "Claymere-taii, our direct superior, is Tactical Officer of the Miharu and will not be on the front line of any of our missions. Well, hopefully not anymore," she amended that last bit. "I am his second and while I introduce myself as the Armor Wing Leader, I am also designated as Security Officer. Both Mizuno and Nakamura-heis are 'riflemen' on the team, but will be your seniors," the young Warrant Officer emphasized. "So if you need any help, don't be afraid to ask them. Anyway, before you joined us, I was asking Yamada-hei about her preferences in 'roles'. I would like to ask you the same question. What role do you see yourselves playing on the Team," she asked as she glanced at both Kaida and Kyou.

Tsuya was quite relieved the spotlight was off of her, and there was less of an opportunity to make herself look like an inexperienced idiot in front of the sweet armor commander. She quickly retook her seat and shut her mouth tightly.
