Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Mara gave a good-natured shrug and closed the hatch.

The Fox shuttle energetically spun around and darted off, enroute to Miharu.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

The hint of pain, however brief, had been enough to let Nyton's desire slip away from his grasp. What's more, the brief melee set him off even fiercer, mixing sexual desire with his lust for combat. Now she was pressing against him offering herself to him? Her soft touch against him, her breath, the proximity of her lips, her voice and now she was clutching at his groin.

Nyton began to laugh. It was a mad sex driven laugh which ended with him grinning hungrily at Hinoto. "YES Hinoto-san, with all honesty yes. I want to sate my desire with you right now. I need you to end my drought. I'm tired of reeling myself in with discipline and duty. You're more than just beautiful you are strong and clever! Just the sort of woman I want-no need to satisfy me!" he shouted with all the desire he could feel coursing through every pore of his being.

If Hinoto were willing then Nyton reached up with his face to crush his lips against hers.

@Nakamura Team:
Minutes passed as Mara navigated the Fox shuttle to reach Miharu. Despite the vigilance of Kai's team, the attack came suddenly and without warning.

Aether attacks raked across Kyou's Daisy, the surface of the armor flashing in a crackling blue haze as the barrier fended off the attacks. Kyou, startled, pounced aside before her barrier got depleted and turned around to take cover around the corner.

Realizing the attack came from above, Kai looked up just in time to see the very faint outline of a glassy humanoid figure aim something at him.

@Miharu's sensor dome:

Sweat ran down Nyton's back, made his armpits feel moist and the sheen of sweat made the air of the sensor dome feel refreshingly cool.

Hinoto had done much better than he had expected. She had drained him ruthlessly.

He was slightly weary, but he also felt supremely satiated.

"Good."

An image flashed in his mind. That of lips splitting in a grin, a grin that boasted two rows of shark-like teeth.

Hinoto edged back slightly and observed Nyton. However, another image was projected into his mind, turning - for a moment - Hinoto's slightly wavy mane of snow white hair into a crimson cascade of curly hair.

He felt amusement from the voice. It was no longer pretending to be the people he knew it was not. "My wonderful human, my pet. You are my creature now. You live, breathe and dream for my sake and my sake alone..." As terrible as the words would've sounded to Nyton, he could not feel any rising alarm from the revelation. He knew it as the truth, and it felt like it was the natural thing for him to be.

"Understanding must dawn on you. You know who I am now, do you not?" The voice purred. He could almost imagine the presence hovering behind him, speaking to his ear over his shoulder.

* * *

Hinoto had counted on hyper-sensibility to put the Nepleslian into a daze and make him less ardent in pursuing his overtures to her.

She counted on his release being the breaking point for whomever had a grip on him. Playing on someone's temptations was not the deadliest psionic attack ever from what she had studied of their enemies, but it was perhaps an effective way of slowly grinding down a person's ego - the lure of pleasure, the succumbing to it, and the reward... those were all things the human brain could be conditioned to react to.

Now, the 'attacker' had what she wanted, but Nyton was no telepath. If they communicated, he might speak... and so Hinoto was very, very attentive. Nyton would only be in a daze for a short time and afterwards - even if he was influenced - he would regain the sum of his wits.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

As fast as he could react, Kai was crouched behind his shield, the Plasma rifle sticking out and spitting its deadly payload at the enemy. "CONTACT!" the Yamataian barked, hoping his message would reach both his team and the Miharu. the Yamataian's drones Pinged to get as accurate a sensor reading as possible, while beginning to fire on their enemy. After a brief burst of plasma fire, Kai rolled out of view of the doorway, coming back up on his haunches, still taking refuge behind his Zesuaium shield.

The Yamataian cursed himself for only having defensive missiles as opposed to offensive types. He noted this to the Miharu. "When you guys get back, bring me missiles that Kill stuff."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Asher's attention was taken from his watch by the fire at the other door. The Yamataian saw the 'glass figure' that took aim at his squad leader. He raised his bazooka at the sheen-skinned enemy and fired a round at his target.

"Fuck! How'd tha' hell they sneak up on us?" Asher grunted, asking his teammates.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton had been blown away. He had never felt anything like what had occurred before and while he was spent his lust was already planning for the next time. That is until the fog grew less hazy and the drive receded.

Now there was a face, a familiar presence, that had released it's hold on his desire and made itself known. He did not know how to respond and instead of disgust he felt strangely at ease. "Melisson!" he gasped out loud, not sure and yet positive that she could hear him.

Nyton had studied this being almost as much as he had Eve. The meeting over Lor had not been lost in his mind. He wondered if they would ever meet again. Now it would seem that she had not forgotten him.

"Melisson what do you want-?" Nyton demanded although this was tempered by a now present willingness to serve. He struggled to regain his bearings and tried to sit up while trying to turn to the 'source' of the voice.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Hinoto's eyes widened.

"Not Melisson, but close enough," the voice answered him. She sounded smug. "I am more like a fingernail cutting of Melisson's psyche. Amaya's report on me had her call it a seed, I believe."

"You attempted to save my life from the Lorath royal guard back at the Battle of Lor," the voice continued, quite willing to assuage his curiosity. "I took notice of you and decided you were worthy of my touch, or my attention. This fragment of myself was implanted deep within your psyche and we've been connected ever since. What you are, what you experience... everything of you has become part of me."

"You did not know right away. I was only a tagalong at first, careful not to upset anything with my meddling. You were extremely strong-willed, so I had to be careful." He sensed her amusement: it was obvious her seizing control of him was something that took a lot of effort and that she now found quite rewarding. "Gradually, from the depts of your mind, I began to change you. Nothing big, nothing overt that you would notice and that would change your persona. It worked at the very foundations of your ego and your id. I strained at them, weakening them here and there until they were just shy of the breaking point. I also set aside my own building blocks to replace yours once I was ready to make my move."

"Which is what we have done today. I've broken the ice, so to speak." She giggled in delight. "You are still Nyton Claymere, you can still think and reason... but the things you now want and earnestly care for are somewhat different than they were."

"I made an example to help you understand the extent of how I changed you." She drew his attention back to Hinoto, whom was still kneeling on the floor - the mental conversation had a faster pace than digital telepathy. "You still respect Kotori, she still has much you admire, but your fondness for her only only extends to cordiality between coworkers. You are now, however, head-over-heels for Hinoto in a much stronger, bolder way than you dared to be with Kotori. Hinoto was not exactly undeserving of the attention, but I've made her much more appealing in your mind's eye."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Masako narrowed her eyes as her hair seemed to stick up slightly. So she had been killed by someone with substantial skill and partially because of her own misjudgment. Her jaw clenched slightly as she sought to hold back the raging torrent of her anger at the pilot who killed her. "Ashitaka-heisho, am I fit to leave now," she asked a bit calmer now.

"Because if I am, I'd like to head to the Powered Armor Bay right now. We've wasted too much time as it is waiting for my resurrection." The young Warrant Officer seemed to be downplaying her death and resurrection for the moment.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton had to look inward at himself again. Did he feel horror at this? Was he terrified that he was now under the control of Melisson's offshoot? How could he have let this occur and how did it break him after so much time? Wasn't he disturbed that he now found himself willingly attracted to Hinoto now even though Melisson directly told him it was influenced? Didn't it bother him that this had occurred?

The short answer was no.

"What do you want of me?" Nyton asked out loud and cut himself short of finishing the sentence, rather thinking it to keep himself in check.

My master.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Hinoto stood up, still eyeing Nyton attentively. She lacked Kotori's iridescent eyes, but the steely look in her eyes had her look very sharp.

"Oh, it's simple. Firstly, give your cybernetics a diagnostic," Melisson suggested. "I couldn't make invasive alterations to your cybernetics to make them more docile until the very last minute... which explains our somewhat initial, bumpy ride. There was no way Miharu or the signaler could do anything against me because I'm essentially a part of your mind: the actual psionic seeding was done years ago and now you're just dealing with a very delayed consequence."

"Then? Well, nothing special. You're Miharu's tactical officer and I mean for you to keep doing your job just as well as you've done it before." He could imagine Melisson smiling in delight of a long hoarded plan finally coming to work out beautifully.

"You must understand, Nyton, that I've been able to eavesdrop everything you did since the Battle of Lor. The crunchy details, like your love of killing, the NH-23, your trepidations at gifting Kotori with that comb, your hate of Uesu, your hero worshipping of your grandfather Thomas... all that you've seen, thought, remembered or dreamed, I know. In the Battle of Taiie, I knew exactly where you were and what you were doing. you did not trick me into revealing Amaya's Gate - I wanted you to know. You did not trick my Mishhu at Tsuyosa; I voluntarily sent them into your clever little trap."

"My uneasy alliance with Eve was withering by the time we engineered the takeover of the Bard Cluster," she explained. "Eve's goals with the Second Draconian Fleet did not coincide with my own and I knew she considered me a loose end. Can't you see the irony of me turning the weapon she made to destroy me against her? "

"I made a nudge here and a poke there to make sure you'd be allowed to progress, turning you and Miharu into a weapon I trusted would get to the heart of Eve's ambitions and then crush them into its infancy. Eve's deserves nothing more than the agony of losing right of the verge of her great rise and victory over Yui; what better revenge is there than to tear her down from her pedestal when she is at her highest? I don't mind you winning, and you succeeding, and your crew getting the laurels they so richly deserve. You've all kept me wonderfully well entertained after all."

"Now the stage is set for the grand finale! It's really exciting!"

"Taii?" Hinoto spoke, hesitantly.

"Ah yes, her," Nyton felt Melisson's focus turn back to the pale sprite. "I don't think your condition is something that should be shouted from the - how do you call that? - ah, yes: rooftops. Hinoto is a very clever girl... I wonder what she plans to do about it."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Sanjuro simply nodded once at Masako's reply, placing his datapad into his pocket for a moment as he walked over to one of the cabinets and retrieved a simple white towel. The chief medical officer had to resist the urge to do a final physical check on the armor commander... his experience with hemosynthetic recreation was limited, and he would love to see how well hemosynthesis had formed muscle masses and nerve clusters, especially around the solar plexus. Sanjuro had to resist such urges, however, in favor of a modicum of professionalism, choosing to simply hand the towel to Masako, who was still slightly damp from her time in the tank.

"I would usually prefer a short physical," Sanjuro said with a sigh. "But I believe you are well enough to return. If you feel anything strange, however, come see me."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

@Rin

"Acknowledged," Miharu said. "The pipe is sealed."

Rin floated to the pipe and surveyed the damage. The crack was a large one, but she had the tools necessary to do the repairs. But did she have the time?

As she started her welding tool, a thought donned on her.

Soldering was an option, but there was a risk of warping the pipe, and noticing that the pipe itself was hot to the touch, it was no guarantee that the wet metal would coagulate in time to prevent blobs of molten goo from spraying at her when the steam resumed its course.

Nanomachine paste was another choice, but with a cut this large, it took time for it to map its way through the crack, take on the shape of its surroundings and knit everything together.

There had to be a way to get things fixed, but how?

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

If you know what I think then I guess communicating is not going to be difficult then. Nyton tried to think spitefully. It was strange knowing one thing and feeling it completely opposite. Why did you even choose me? Another irony given how much Kotori would love to kill you?

"Taii?" Hinoto spoke, hesitantly.

Nyton heard Hinoto address him and blinked a little towards her before looking down. He ran his diagnostic on his cybernetics just as Melisson suggested and even though he knew he should not be happy he was not bothered. Then he looked back up at Hinoto and coughed a bit. "I think it's over Hinoto....-san." he said, adding the honorific to try and hide his new found attraction to her.

There was a blow to his pride swelling up in him having discovered that his ploys had not been successful without Melisson's allowing it. He had lost in ways he had not even known. With what now felt like very little dignity, Nyton pulled up his pants and got to his feet. He remained crouched though, trying to present himself as unthreatening now. "I... I'm sorry Hinoto-san. I... " he stammered before he finally realized there was a clump of her hair in his hand along with the mark on her forehead. He released the hair and looked up at her with wide eyes. "Oh shit, are you alright? I'm so sorry!" he said, his shame at pulling out her hair fueling what he tried to show as a moment of weakness. He was not so much ashamed at being taken over now since he was 'rewritten' not to feel it.

Worst of all Nyton needed time to think regardless of whether he had an unwelcome eavesdropper or not. At least his concern for Hinoto's head was genuine. He felt it deeply now, just as Melisson had planted it.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Hinoto frowned. "Do not take me for an idiot. This is the second time you've done so today," she said, sounding stern. "I heard what you said."

"I told you she was brilliant." Melisson was mildly impressed and glad she was right. "She probably yielded to you so she could get more information on what was happening to you, since this was far too extensive to be Amaya's work."

Nyton had never seen Hinoto show such spine before - except perhaps back when she was sparing Nimura.

"Oh, while you're thinking about her, I'm behind Nimura's uncanny fighting skills as well. That was part of the pokes and nudges to help I mentioned before."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Once again a flurry of thoughts went through Rin's head, listing possible solutions. She quickly settled on a solution as she once again brought down her welder to try and seal the crack quickly. Sparks flew as the welder worked, while the sprite introduced some extra metal from her tool kit to fill in the gap.

As soon as it was, hopefully, sufficiently bonded together, Rin grabbed a can of coolant. Using short puffs and sprays, she attempted to cool the welded section along with a bit of the surrounding sections. A long spray would potentially cool the metal down too quickly and then, once the coolant was reintroduced into the pipe and quickly heated it back up, could heat the metal, creating far too much stress. The short puffs would, ideally, cause the metal to solidify before the pressure/coolant would flood back in and cause bad things to happen.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Taking the towel with a nod, she mopped up some of the fluids that had yet to air dry off of her body. "You wouldn't be the medical officer if you did prefer it," she replied before wrapping the towel around her torso to give her some semblance of modesty.

"Suzuka-shosa," Masako greeted with a small bow. "Are there any hull breaches I should know about before I head to the Armor Bay? I'd rather not head there only to find myself waking up here again so soon."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

@Rin

The heated metal quickly slithered through the cracks, filling it in less time than using nanomachine paste and a spatula could. Following with carefully controlled bursts of coolant--just enough so that the molten metal would chill without warping the pipe--Rin managed to finish the job with 10 seconds to spare.

She floated backwards, and waited. The CFS shuddered as pressure began to reach elevated levels within the device.

"3...2...1... steam flow initialized." Miharu said.

The ferocity of the release was evident as the pipe Rin repaired jolted slightly under the pressure.

But it held.

"Repair to CFS successful," the ship reported. "4% blockage of pipe detected, due debris from repairs, but no effect on coolant systems. Thank you, Rin."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Goddammit, do you control Nimura as well, Master? Nyton thought, a little irked at this revelation as well and still finding himself uneasy with the amount of ease he now found himself referring to Melisson as his 'master.'

Standing up Nyton regathered himself. The neko before him was beginning to agitate him regardless of how he felt about her. Yet in some twisted way it made him more attracted. Does fighting and conflict really turn me on that much? he then thought to himself regardless of his present condition before he began addressing Hinoto.

"You're right Hinoto for I am the one being the idiot for underestimating you. In my addled condition I failed to realize that your method would have been the easiest way to learn what was going on. Clever as always and not quite the shy violet as you would make your sister believe then, hm?" Nyton said in praise. It was also a means of delaying while he reviewed his mental recordings of what he did and said. During his 'condition' he had spoken aloud a few times. Enough for Hinoto to catch wind of the name.

"I may as well come clean then since there is no fooling you. You heard me say the name Melisson, did you not? Yes she was the instigator of this attack and influence. She ....used my attraction to you to feed into my lust and control me. Then she mocked me for my weakness. Unfortunately the power she exerted over me means she can control me to quite some means. The limits of that control I am not certain of but given her ability that means greatly. However, despite all this she at least gave me the knowledge that she does not mean to interfere with our mission. According to all accounts, my own included, her behavior has been rather honest in her statements and she tends to keep her word. I do not think she will use me to jeopardize the mission against Eve as she went so far as to admit that she would like Eve eliminated as well." Nyton plainly stated, honest in just about every sentence. Even if some of that honesty was reprogrammed honesty.

"Now then the question remains, what do you plan on doing with me? Will you kill me? Will you turn me in to be killed? Or will you hide this until we find a way to undo Melisson's control? Either way I doubt I have much chance to resist. Where would I run? Away from here? With what means? To Amaya's Gate? That would be just as fatal. If I shot you then Miharu would simply alert the others. I would really much rather not do that to you as I always meant my words in regards to your beauty. To be honest I don't want to die, Hinoto-san. I have always fancied myself a survivor. But if my life is now in your hands then I suppose I have very little choice in the matter." Nyton declared, extending his arms out so that his hands were away from any weapons on his belt. His face had returned to the ever familiar stone he always wore.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Abwehran Commander said:
"Suzuka-shosa," Masako greeted with a small bow. "Are there any hull breaches I should know about before I head to the Armor Bay? I'd rather not head there only to find myself waking up here again so soon."
"No breaches, Juni. Return to your comrades." Yukari bowed her head. "Good luck."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

@Miharu's Sensor Dome:

"I'd really rather you call me Mistress instead of Master," the voice pointed out before explaining about Nimura. "I do not control Nimura. I am part of your mind, not hers. She was imprinted on and changed, but I don't know how much. I preferred her when she talked more."

"I kept this to myself-" Hinoto began-

"And me," Miharu's AI butted in.

"Because I needed to find out what was wrong with you," Hinoto continued. "...and find ways to deal with the situation which would not shame you in the future."

"If this is the seed I read about, then it was with you for a long time now." She added, crossing her arms under her breasts. "Melisson manifesting herself only warns me of her attention and confirms some suspicions I had but never had enough substance or information to explore. Trickery or ambush that I can see coming are also not going to be anywhere nearly as effective as they would've been."

"So, I do not plan on the information leaving this room for now." Hinoto concluded. Nyton had the inkling that the sprite was keeping something to herself, though.

"I don't like this. Hinoto, that's pretty underhanded..." Miharu commented.

"I was created to be underhanded, Miharu." Hinoto replied matter of factly. "I just don't get to act like it often."

@Hoshi's launchbays:
The T4 Fox shuttle slid back into the port multifunction bay as soon as the armored shutters allowed passage, and then set down.

"Here we are!" Mara grinned back to the to other nekos as the Fox's rear hatch opened. Nimura got up and jumped out before heading for one of the vacant niches in the armor-holding frames.
