RP: NSS Acadia Mission 5: Quick Save

Luke entered the mess hall, rather hungry from not having eaten. The staff asked what he'd be having.

"I'll take anything edible, as long as it has no taste." Luke said, and this received some laughter from the staff, who handed him some bland meat and rice.

"Thank you," Luke said, before sitting on a vacated table, eating alone, and rather quickly.

"Thanks," said Makari as he took his food. He walked over to the condiments and decided against anything extra on his MANLY meat roll. He saw the others from the briefing at a table and went to go introduce himself.

"Hello, I'm Makari. May I join you?"

“Ran correct?” The pretty boy asked as the Chief entered. The bridge was strewn with datapads, some occupying space on the table in the center of the room, others occupying space on the floor. The walls of the bridge were displaying images of farmland including crops, irrigation equipment, and most importantly an annotated picture of what looked like a jail with arrows and text pointing to detention centers, a lab, and a barracks.

“Display Higaflan, focus prison camp” He would say before turning towards Ran, letting the images on the wall get replaced with the image of the jail as a 3d image of a planet was brought up

“You may remember the NMX took one of the Nepleslian fringe worlds, Rok’Veru some time ago. We found that they were packing up people and shipping them to Higaflan. A few hours ago a scout ship took this picture of their destination showing a detention camp. From the looks of things they are going to cut them to package them as rations.

Sense we have a short window to conduct this operation before people start getting killed your ground team as well as any marines I could get my hands on. I also brought in private contractor to run the ground operation.” Wazu would chuckle slightly before adding, “She is going by the name Harm right now.”

The NH-7 in the room had dark green hair and a tight fitting dark blue bodysuit that had been left unzipped enough to show a hint of cleavage. In her hand was a granola bar that she had been munching away on for some time. With her free hand she’d wave to Ran before finishing off her food and tossing the wrapper onto the floor where a roving Junker drone would pick it up. “Right, that means I’m done here.” She said as she moved for the door.

“While she is handling freeing the people we have an intelligence job for you.” Wazu said, waiting for Harm to leave before he continued, “One, Keep an eye on her. She is trustworthy as far as her contract goes, but that is about it. Two, we need to gather as much information from this site as possible prior to blowing it up. Get inside of the other structures while the rest of the ground team is freeing prisoners. Your power armor sensor data should be sufficient but try and get access to their computer systems if possible.”

Uso, Stacey, That Girl, she had gone by a lot of names in her time, and this time she was using Harm. After finishing her part of the briefing on the bridge she headed right for the mess hall, walking past the soldiers sitting at the tables and going around behind the mess hall counter to grab ahold of more granola bars that were hidden in various cabinets behind a very offended junker drone. She would sit down next to the small group that had formed and leaned in, ripping open a granola bar with her teeth before asking, “So you guys new at this or have you been in the shit before?”

Uso said:
“So you guys new at this or have you been in the shit before?”

Chad didn't see her as she sat down, but began to talk anyway, which was his way.

"Well it depends what you mean by "shit". If your refering to the greenbeans and the liquor, then n...................." Then he got a good look at her. The painkillers and the scotch must have hit his lower intestines, cuz he felt really dizzy.

Holy squid, fuck me up the wall....

There sitting at the table was a smoking hot, provocativly dressed greenhaired, purple eyed chick. Then he saw the ears, and a lot of the tension and suprise lifted. The apperance registered as an NH model, first one he'd ever seen in person too. Thats a new one on me.

"Shooting badguys... Green beans don't fight back you know." Harm said, pointing her finger at the man across the table before adding,

"Pew Pew Pew."

Breath. Swallow. Breath. Concentrate.

He looked over at Makari, "Yeah newer guy than me, go ahead and sit down...."

Chad stood up and walked over to the bar. Im gonna need more booze.

He got bourbon this time, even though he still had half a bottle of scotch, and slunk back to his seat.

"Bad guys, of course." Chad look strait at the super hot bioweapon. The fact that she could kill him easily and steal his thoughts was slowly being washed away with each alternating swig of the dual whiskeys. "Yeah, I've been around the block a few times". A blatant lie was a good start, even as he tried to cover up his rank patch. "What about you.... Im sorry, what was your name", he asked even though he knew damn well that no one had mentioned any names so far.

He also looked at the Pale scary chick next to him and addressed her again too. "And you, who the hell are you?"

*Swig*

The Bioweapon would watch as the soldier went to grab more booze for himself.

“I’m ‘going to be upset if you can’t walk in a straight line while I’m getting shot at’.” She replied, “But you can call me Ma’am, Sir, or whatever honorific you’d like. The old man called me in to run this smash and grab because he lacks confidence in you guys… So I figured I should get to know what I have to work with.”

She would quickly finish off the granola bar in hand before tearing into another one, eating it along with its wrapping foil.

"I think you fail to understand, hun"

Chad put both bottles on the table. He leaned back toward the Junker Drone, pulled his Styrling from its holster and did the one thing that he was better at than getting stoned in as many ways as possible.

1..
2..
3..

Three rounds flew from the pistol designed by his brother, and all three smashed into the Drone. It clunked to the ground smoking.

"I'll be sure to call for you anytime I need a robotic Chef taken out before he can endanger anymore green beans." She said, looking around to the others at the table.

"Anyone else have superpowers I should know about?"

As Sean walked up, he caught the tail end of the little show, and snorted, head still ringing a bit, but nothing too serious. "I build and fix shit, but that's no damn super power. And ignore this guy, he's new anyway. Got his first blood though, so we can't call him a total rookie." Sean sat down, and set about medicating his headache the best way he'd ever found. With booze, and possibly more booze.

"I'm guessing we're thinking about grabbing any intel before the cat can." The Chief pulled out another cigarette, and not wanting to smoke in front of this pretty boy, the Chief simply swallowed it.

"Just to clarify, sir. Is my ground team going to be separate from the prison job to pick up intel?"

A few minutes earlier...

"Never took you for a hotcake fan," said Chad. Phaedra glanced at him.

"What should I say? That I've never even seen the food that I ordered? That "Hotcakes and Links" might be a residual memory from my predecessor?"

"Well, this is actually my first time having such food. A...friend of mine recommended that I try them the first chance I had," she lied, inspecting the small container of sugarly liquid that came with her meal.

"So you guys new at this or have you been in the shit before?” said a woman's voice. Phaedra turned to see where the voice came from, and was rather suprised to see a woman with dark green hair and a peculiar pair of pointed ears. And then she realized what the woman was: a Nekovalkyrja. Having never encountered a Nekovalkyrja before, Phaedra was unsure how to react. But she definitely began noticing Chad's increasingly drunken behavior.

"And you, who the hell are you?" said Chad with slurred speech. Phaedra furrowed her brow at the marine next to her, who was obviously enamored with the Neko.

"Someone drank way to much way too fast," thought Phaedra. "I've done the same before accidentally, but still this is a bad situation."

"I think you fail to understand, hun" slurred Chad. Phaedra saw it in slow motion; she saw Chad reach for his sidearm.

"Oh shit!" through Phaedra with wide eyes. Chad fired three rounds at the cook drone across the mess hall, somehow missing any of the other marines crowded into the small room. Phaedra turned and grabbed Chad's gun hand with her cybernetic left hand, yanking the pistol forcefully upward. She rose to her feet and her other fist punched Chad squarely in the jaw.

"What the HELL is your problem!?! You DO NOT discharge a firearm while aboard a ship in middle of SPACE!" shouted Phaedra. She was unusually angry at the newbie, who probably didn't know any better. But after watching one of her comrades be splattered on the inside of the Acadia for a relatively simple infraction, she wasn't going to let a drunk gunslinger kill any more people.

"I'll be sure to call for you anytime I need a robotic Chef taken out before he can endanger anymore green beans. Anyone else have superpowers I should know about?" said Harm.

Phaedra decided that she didn't like the Neko one bit.

"Thank you," he responded to Chad. The discharge of bullets was like music to his ears. The banter between the babe and his new acquaintance was amusing as well.

"Anyone else have superpowers I should know about?"

"Why yes, I am universally renowned for pleasing the ladies," he replied with a firm wink as he stood back up to snag a bottle of scotch for himself. He had decided to drink the whole damn thing; nearly getting blown up had that effect on him apparently.

Getting punched was never good. However, getting wasted on painkillers and two types of whiskey, getting your arm nearly broken by a robotic limb, and then punched in the jaw was much worse.

Chad was forced to let go of the pistol and then fell on the ground. He heard the culprit who did this too Chad yell at him, as well as a few others speak. He stood up as Makari sat down and saw chick who punched him. Chad looked at his assailant, and then threw up all over her.

Ouch, the bitch can hit....

And thats when he passed out.

Luke laughed as the pot-head initiate slumped to the ground unconcious.

"That's what happens when you do drugs," Luke laughed, finishing his meal. "Maybe this guy didn't get a good enough message at school."

Luke went up to the now unconcious Chad and dragged him onto one of the tables.

"Someone call in a medical specialist, this guy needs rehab; desperately!"

Luke shook his head. He found it inconcievably illogical to degenerate yourself into this state. Chad didn't seem to have too many problems, and even if he did, he sure should have been dealing with them instead of trying to take the pain away.

"Feh. Drag him to the med-bay, and leave 'im there. If this officer is anything like ours, he'll regret it plenty when they're done with him." Sean grinned crookedly, remembering his own encounter with Suku. "If not, I'm sure we can manage whenever he wakes back up. Make him feel welcome and all."

"I don't see why bother with this guy at all. Only real use is cannon fodder, he's so drugged up he'll likely pass out mid-battle and all, and what good is that?" Luke said.

"But anyway, I'll get him to med-bay..." Luke said with a sigh, before grabbing Chad and dragging him to there.

When he had reached med-bay, the area seemed empty, so he quickly propped up Chad on one of the beds.

Luke saw a notebook on a desk, and wrote into it "not for autopsy" and propped the notebook next to Chad.

"Knowing those medics, they might not tell the difference between the dead and alive," Luke said smugly, and walked back to the mess hall.

“It is one of those things that is nice to have,” Wazu explained, “But you will be doing that on your own. We have got less than a dozen marines between the men from the Acadia and the ones that got picked up from local bases on Nepleslia.

Once the ground team reaches the prisoner holding pens you will separate from the group to investigate. Hopefully there will not be any resistance left by then, I plan to make up for the lack of boots on the ground with extra fighter drones and our tank.

Also… I doubt the she will go off mission, but we will have recordings of the sensor data from every power armor deployed. If anyone goes in there we will be able to see what the structure is being used for. Just try and keep her from endangering the civilians we are trying to rescue.”

---

Harm couldn’t keep herself from laughing after Chad’s comment, letting the others drag the body out of the passed out marine out of the room. When she finally calmed down, and finished off another granola bar, she said, “Well… we can always stick him in an armor and remote pilot it.” She would then take a data pad hanging off her hips, inputting that particular command for the ship’s bots to follow. A small beep would then come from the pad.

“Well guys, it is about that time. Suit up and make sure you grab an LG-23 pistol and a weapon you can use without the power armor from the quartermaster. If you haven’t eaten yet grab something to go.” With that she got up from the table, returning to where the broken robotic chef was trying to put itself back together, tendrils grabbing up components that had fallen onto the ground to try and jam them back into the holes made by the attacker.

Meanwhile in the medbay, a pair of Junker drones were already approaching the downed marine, grabbing his arms and legs to move him onto a stretcher, then taking that stretcher down to the power armor bay after having checked him for any additional weapons and removing them.

Phaedra grimaced when Chad vomited all over her and then passed out. The whole scene seemed all too familiar, minus one of the marines splattered across the deck. Phaedra was ashamed with how she had reacted to Chad's drunken shooting and she excused herself from the mess hall to clean herself up.

After managing to find another uniform in her size, Phaedra returned to the hangar to inspect the NIGHT she was to use for the drop. The armor was relatively the same as the previous armor she had used, save for this one being fresh off the assembly line. After an initial inspection of the armor's weapons and assembly, Phaedra opened up the armor and slipped inside for a test fit.

After sitting back down and drinking about a quarter of the bottle of scotch, Makari decided that drinking the entire bottle was a BAD IDEA. Especially after seeing what happened to Chad. Dissatisfied with introductions due to the commotion, Makari decided it would be best to head back down to the quartermaster and do a thorough checkup on his shiny (probably not) new HOSTILE.
