"Indeed, Hotaru-Hei. I'm sorry if I'm a little spazzy today." She got out the things she would need, and began the standard procedure of the checkup.

Looking up from her examination, she said sweetly, "For you, I can spare some time. Sounds wonderful. Now lemme check your reflexes...." She gave a small giggle, wondering if she'd clumsily knock her head during the physical.

After finishing making her backup, Hanako returned to Sune. "Please explain to me what this 'injection' you mentioned is," she softly demanded to know.

At the same time, Hanako mentally sent Hamada a text message. "Are you ready for the combat simulation? We may want to give some sort of briefing and instructions to the crew first."

"Yes ma'am." Sune answered, grateful for the opportunity to clarify the scanner. "The PMS-1 scanner allows medical personnel to scan the patient from the inside. The injection I spoke of is to deploy the PMS scanner nanomachines into the patient. Once injected the nanomachines scan the body, and provide the medical personnel with vital information. They can identify damage to internal organs, bones, and even the neural network. This is is especially useful in the case of a patient wearing power armor when they can not be examined easily. The data from the nanomachines is received by the hand unit, and can be stored for comparison to future scans. Although for the data to be transmitted a patch is affixed to the patient, either on the skin or on their uniform. The patch is coded to a specific PMS unit at the time of application." Sune paused for a moment, then continued. The PMS is also useful when a medic is dealing with multiple casualties as they can monitor several patients while tending to another person. After 24 hours the nanomachines self-dissolve."

Ramiro sat at his console, monitoring the ship's location. He remembered something the Taisa had said and swiveled his chair to face Nika. "Irenika-Hei, if you wish to go get you memory backup I can monitor your station until you return and then once you're back I could go for mine." He suggested. Just then something beeped at him on his screen. He turned to face his station, typed something quick, and the map pulled up with a section flashing. "Shizu-Taii, we are approaching another unexplored sector, but it is slightly off course and we would have to go a little out of our way to get in range for scanning. Shall I alter our course?

A pilot and a number cruncher, Hamada remarked mentally, but no weapons specialist.

Tucking those thoughts away for later, Hamada swiveled the auxiliary station chair around so that she was facing towards the relative forecastle of the ship and crossed her legs. Even if it was a little bit out of the way, travel did not feel like much of a problem and the Taisa had never mentioned anything about a time frame.

"Very well. Lay in the necessary alterations."

Lowering her head and pulling out her PDA again, Hamada took the time to reply to the Taisa's message. She would have replied by mentally contacting the ship's IES and dictating to that program, but this made her look busy and important. After four years of training, she had learned that it was good military practice to look busy and important as much as possible, even if neither were true. Part of officership was showmanship.

Code:
I have been thinking of a more specific station bill, and can distribute it immediately once I finish. After that, I will put the bridge on standby for battlestations. Also, we have altered our course slightly to explore a second, unnamed star system, and will be coming out of hyperspace to conduct scans shortly. The first one has already been scanned and logged. I will attach the data to this message. It still needs to be named.

Hamada bounced her foot a little bit, thinking it over for a few seconds, before beginning her entries into the new ship duty station bill. While she worked, she spoke;

"Valencia-hei, you will continue to man ship operations, piloting and navigating. You have been doing a good job, and there is no reason to change anything."

'We need a weapons systems specialist, though,' she sent to Nika, making eye contact by looking up slightly, 'If you want to monitor the panel you are sitting at now, then I could do it, but that is not a position that I am comfortable taking. Do you know of anyone else on the ship who would be qualified?'

"Sure thing Valencia-Hei. I'll get back ASAP to relieve you once I'm done." With that, Nika stood up from her seat and was just about to leave the bridge when Hamada mentally spoke to her again.

"Mmm..." The neko turned to look at Hamada, pondering, "I could take up the spot of that is of priority, Shizu-Taii." Nika mentally replied, "For monitoring-wise, everyone can chip in to help whenever anyone is available."

Announcing her leave by saluting the XO, she made her way to the medical bay...

"Thank you" Ramiro said to Nika. He the swiveled his chair back towards his station as he typed a couple things in. "Alright the course has been altered and we should be in range right about.......now." Ramiro deactivated the hyperspace drives and quick started a scan of the system. "Alright Shizu-Taii, scans have been initiated, now we just need wait for the results." He leaned back in his chair as he watched the screens waiting for the results to appear.

Hamada returned the salute somewhat lazily, then she looked up at the display and took a long, slow breath, as if collecting herself. There were a couple things that needed to be done that, as far as she knew, she more or less needed to get squared away and managed as the XO. Might as well multitask.

'Charisma.' Hamada began communicating with the ship's computer mentally. 'Put out over the com...'

Ship's Main Intercom said:
THE FOLLOWING PERSONNEL REPORT TO THE BRIDGE AT EARLIEST CONVENIANCE: HEISHO YAMAMOTO HOTARU, HEI TAKEDA JUNKO, HEI KUMIKO ENDOH.

She sat the small electronic on the arm of the chair. Then she folded her hands in her lap, rested her head on the back of the chair, and asked Valencia, conversationally; "Do the crew call the Taisa by her given name as well?"

As Endoh still had yet to return with the Taisa's decision, Junko had been continuing the refinement of the placement figures. While focused, she certainly was not oblivious to the intercom message, even over the perpetual noise of the engineering spaces. Saving her notations on the terminals and leaving the displays up for later perusal, she exited into the passageway, propelling herself upwards to the bridge deck. Pressing the admittance button next to the hatch, she entered the bridge. Taking a step inside and briefly noting Valencia's presence, Junko straightened up as she faced the XO. "Takeda Junko reporting, ma'am."

An notification popped up on Ramiro's screen and he quickly started typing. While typing he answered back to Hamada. "Uhm, I'm not to sure about the rest of the crew. I, for one, usually won't refer to her in any way other than Taisa. I don't think I've seen any of the crew use her first name before." He then stopped typing, looked his screen over then pressed a couple buttons as the results of the scan appeared on the main screen. "Here are the results of the scans done on the system now known as HX-22. As this is complete shall I continue to our next checkpoint?"

Just then, Hanako returned to the bridge. "Status report?"

"At ease," Hamada said to Junko, swiveling the chair slightly, "Thank you for coming so quickly. We will wait for the other two to get here, though. I have something I need to talk to the three of you about."

Turning back and addressing Ramiro, she took a few moments to process the sensor information before finally starting off; "Well, I asked because you have been using my given-"

The door slid open. The Taisa entered. Hamada turned her head, expecting one of the other crewmembers she had called, but when she saw Hanako, she stood up.

"We're currently located within the unexplored system, designation H-X-Two-two." Reaching down to her panel, Hamada divided the screen up into planet views, bringing up the surface scans for viewing. "Valencia-Hei finished the scans, and these are the results."

Hanako took a seat at the center console and began reviewing the data. "What happened to HX-21?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. Eucharis would just have to visit it on the return trip. "In any case, the Terrestrial world looks interesting...although it does not seem to be a good place to breathe. Take us into a high orbit around it," the captain ordered, considering releasing one of the two orbital survey platforms. "Also, please prepare a probe with visual and atmospheric modules."

En-route to the medicial bay, Nika gave a quick salute to Hanako as both passed each other...

"Hello everyone." The neko greeted as she entered the med bay, "Any slot for this kitty to get a backup?"

Sune, seeing that Konoka had completed the backup of her patient and was doing a physical, stepped forward. "Hello Himeya-Hei. It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Jalen-Hei. I will be your attending medic for today. The mental transfer unit is currently free, so if you will come with me, we can update your backup if you have one currently."

Ramiro turned to listen to Hamada but immediately swiveled his chair around to face the Taisa when saw her enter. He listened to Hamada's response and turned back to face his station. "Will do ma'am." He quickly entered in some directions as the ship turned towards the terrestrial planet. He then walked over to the sensors station and started uploading module data into one of the probes. "Alright Taisa, the ship is en route to the planet and the probe should be ready for deployment any moment now."

"Please to meet you too Jelen-Hei." Nika nodded as she let Sune led her to the mental transfer unit, "Frankly, this is the first time I'm going through with this... will it hurt?" She asked, looking at the unit before sitting down in it.

Hotaru had almost finished her medical with Konoka when the XO's order came over the 1MC. Waiting until Konoka had finished the medical, Hotaru got off the bed and bowed slightly to Konoka, "Thankyou Konoka-san, I will let you know a time for dinner later as I'm unsure what the Taii wants."

Smiling at Nika as she just arrived Hotaru nodded in greeting before 'pathing the XO, Shizu-Taii, message recieved. I am on my way, as she left the Medical Area. Quickly making her way towards the bridge, Hotaru thought to herself, I wonder what she wants.

After floating to the bridge entrance, Hotaru righted herself and checked her uniform before entering the bridge. Seeing the Taisa on the bridge with the XO, Hotaru bowed towards the officers and spoke, "Yamamoto-Heisho reporting as ordered ma'am."

Sune stood next to the mental backup table. "Himeya-Hei, to be truthful there is some some pain associated with the process. The degree of pain depends on the individual. Younger patients normally only feel a slight discomfort. I personally only experienced mild discomfort my first time. I am sure you will be just fine. However if you are concerned about the pain, the unit can sedate you. But it is your choice."

"Alright then, let's go without the sedation. At least the feeling of pain tells me that I'm alive." Nika grinned as she leaned back, "Start it up Jelen-Hei."
