A pilot and a number cruncher, Hamada remarked mentally,
but no weapons specialist.
Tucking those thoughts away for later, Hamada swiveled the auxiliary station chair around so that she was facing towards the relative forecastle of the ship and crossed her legs. Even if it was a little bit out of the way, travel did not feel like much of a problem and the Taisa had never mentioned anything about a time frame.
"Very well. Lay in the necessary alterations."
Lowering her head and pulling out her PDA again, Hamada took the time to reply to the Taisa's message. She would have replied by mentally contacting the ship's IES and dictating to that program, but this made her look busy and important. After four years of training, she had learned that it was good military practice to look busy and important as much as possible, even if neither were true. Part of officership was showmanship.

I have been thinking of a more specific station bill, and can distribute it immediately once I finish. After that, I will put the bridge on standby for battlestations. Also, we have altered our course slightly to explore a second, unnamed star system, and will be coming out of hyperspace to conduct scans shortly. The first one has already been scanned and logged. I will attach the data to this message. It still needs to be named.
Hamada bounced her foot a little bit, thinking it over for a few seconds, before beginning her entries into the new ship duty station bill. While she worked, she spoke;
"Valencia-hei, you will continue to man ship operations, piloting and navigating. You have been doing a good job, and there is no reason to change anything."
'We need a weapons systems specialist, though,' she sent to Nika, making eye contact by looking up slightly,
'If you want to monitor the panel you are sitting at now, then I could do it, but that is not a position that I am comfortable taking. Do you know of anyone else on the ship who would be qualified?'
