[Nepleslia Prime] One Hell of a Coincidence

Kokuten arched a brow at Rico for a moment, a little confused by his response. He circulated his hands around eachother in attempt to body language the explaination.

"You know, the woman I'm waiting on? I'm waiting on Suku Matsobuki. That's why I asked." said the Petty Officer.

Rico's reply was immediate as he abruptly shot up from the barstool with a clatter.

"HOLY SHIT. I just remembered, I got somebody I'm meetin' in a few minutes, I better get goin', yannow?" Rico spoke quickly, just as the bartender arrived with the drink he previously ordered. Rico looked at it for a moment, pondering something, before quickly grabbing it and gulping its contents down with reckless abandon. At the end, he coughed slightly...he usually didn't like drinking his grog so fast. "WELL, I'll catch you two a lil' later, yeah baby? Good t' see ya'll, let's do it again sometime."

As Rico practically flew towards the door, the bartender cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted out at the fleeing Nepleslian.

"Hey you! Come back and pay for your drinks!"

Rico froze in mid-movement near the door and stood there, as if silently deciding if he was going to pay, or take off as fast as he could. After a short moment, he whirled back around and proceeded back to the bar, slapping his DA card onto the bar and leaning on it, looking positively miffed.

"Right, here ya go, asshole. Hurry it up."

The bartender growled as he took the card, turning to make the exchange, leaving Rico at the far end of the bar. Meanwhile, Rico himself tried his best to keep his attention on anything but Kokuten and Fian.

Kokuten shook his head for a moment after the shock of Rico rocketing off his stool. He watched the other marine dart across the room and then run back to pay his bill.

-----

Suku Matsobuki walked into the small tavern that she was supposed to meet her friend, Kokuten. Immediately as she turned the corner, she saw a man whirl around infront of her and run over to the bartender. The guy seemed positively miffed about having to pay his bill.

Stupid dipshit...

-----

Kokuten Chiaki's attention was fixated on Rico, a little worry panged on his face. He looked over at Fian with a questioning face. The Petty Officer turned back over to Rico and jogged over to him.

"Hey, Rico, are you alright?" Kokuten asked with a bit of concern.

-----

Suku spotted Kokuten next to Fian, though noted the concerened look on the Medics face he turned to the Vel Steyr. She watched him run over to the guy that had forgotten to pay his bill and ask him a question. Now, she was actually interested what was happening with this guy, so she walked up to him and stopped behind him, planning to keep him from escaping if this guy tried to run.

"Already told ya baby, got somewhere t' be," Rico replied as casually as he could, keeping his gaze constant on the bartender as he verified to card transaction. Before long, the bartender came back and begrudgingly returned the man's card. "Thanks a lot," Rico grumbled in displeasure, not enjoying the fact he was being held up in such a way. He immediately turned back into a hasty retreat, keeping his eyes on the begrudging bartender as he pocketed his card an nodded towards Kokuten. "I'll catch ya later baby-"

In his quick act of turning and making his way towards the door, Rico accidentally walked right into the young lady behind him with a good amount of force backing his step; he was, after all, in a hurry.

Kokuten tilted his head as he got the same answer, thought it worried him. Rico seemed a little ancy for his usual self. That was when he caught the color of Suku's green hair out of the edge of his eyes. He recognized her and almost called her name when Rico made another turn right into...

Suku was sure she knew the guy infront of him, the body type seemed familiar, so did the voice, yet she still wasn't sure of him. She reached a hand out to tap him on the shoulder...

BAMF!

The nurse was knocked back, and then without much thought pushed the man that had run into her back towards the bartender with all her force.

"Hey, watch where you're going asshole." Suku spat at him.

Fian didn't see Suku untill she was right ontop of Rico, he attributed this to his blunting reflexes but really the Vel Steyr was absolute shit at recodnising people he doesn't see often. Part of him wanted to help Rico out of this mess, the other part wanted to make him 'pay' somehow for the grief the Cassanova caused. In the end, the latter won out because it wasnt a squad of Reds or that mad medic Adrian besetting Rico, but a woman, which is something Rico styled himself an expert on.

Leave it to the pro, eh? He smirked.

Fian put one hand in his pocket and waved with the other, "Yo Suku." He wasnt expecting a reply or having any kind of conversation with her because she was busy with Rico and he was busy observing, he just wanted to get the greeting out of the way.

The sudden push took Rico completely by surprise, propelling him back onto the bar. By a stroke of luck Rico instinctively let go of his DA card and used his now-free hand to catch the end of the bar counter top. Now, with his back now facing his attacker, Rico looked positively stunned as he attempted to process the situation in his already heavily laden head. It wasn't long, however, before that expression quickly turned into one of anger.

In a swift motion, Rico used the leverage of his arm on the bar top to propel himself around, back into his adversary. As he approached, Rico raised his arms outward, to shove his foe in a similar fashion to how he himself was thrown with a much larger amount of force. The reaction was quick and natural; Rico didn't have much time to factor in how the voice he heard was almost feminine, let alone have enough time to catch a glance at the person's face before his counter-attack.

"Who ya callin' asshole, fuck head?!"

Suku stumbled, almost twisting her ankle as she spun around and fell to the floor. She was stunned for a moment while she fumbled around and then, her kill instincts kicked in. The Nurse threw herself from the floor and onto Rico, tackling him to floor. She stopped for a moment to look up at Fian.

"Hi Fian!" She said with a smile before assuming the angry face and then returning to her target by raising a fist in the air and bringing down to his towards his face.

Unlike before, Rico was ready and expecting a retaliation from his returned shove as he assumed a loose, more flexible stance to meet the threat. What he did not expect was that his attacker was, in fact, a woman, easily betrayed by her physique and long, slightly curly dark green hair. Although the face was turned away, Rico quickly recalled the short list of women he knew with green hair and tendencies to become hot-headed.

Before he could act on these thoughts, though, the woman on the floor launched herself at him in his state of epiphany. As a result, Rico was thrown back with her, his arms groping wildly outward as he fell for some sort of catch, finally failing him as he hit the ground underneath his foe, knocking the back of his head in the process. In the time Suku took to greet Fian in a inappropriately cheerful manner, Rico was able to catch sight of her face through his blurred vision and confirm his suspicion; it was Suku, alright, pissed off and about to wail into his beautiful face. "Whoa, hey, wa-" was all Rico could muster before her clenched first rocketed towards him. There was little he could do in his slightly dazed position to stop her after that point, so Rico did what he could and attempted to dodge the blow.

It worked, in a way. Instead of breaking his nose, the fist made glancing contact with Rico's cheekbone. Her blow wasn't especially punishing...Rico had taken worse, but it still smarted something fierce, and the pain did wonders to clear up what haze was left over from the knock to the head he had received earlier. Rico lashed forward with his hand, attempting to grasp her arm to discourage another attack.

"Enough already!" Rico shouted once more, hostility lacing his voice from the slight throb on his cheek.

Suku stopped for a moment as she reved back for another punch. Her expression was that of almost awe as she looked down at Rico. The nurse's cheeks flushed with a little red as she seemed to comprehend the person she just hit.

"Rico..." She said, almost passionately.

Then her entire face flushed with a deep red color, a feral look waved out on her face and her lip curled with disgust.

"Rico..." She said, almost with complete hate. She brought her fist down on the Nepleslian's face again, and then stood up off the Nepleslian.

"Fucking... fuck..." said the slightly disturbed Nurse, she seemed to choke up a little bit as she paced away from him.

Using his trade as a master of intervention and flanking, the Vel Steyr quickly pushed himself off the barstool he was sitting on and managed to grab Suku's hand right before it made contact with Rico's face. "Thats enough." He firmly remarked.

He had prematurely assumed that Rico had a chance to deal with the situation with his savvy, it was only later when he realized the Cassanova only managed target identification just before being hit the first time that the conflict was very one sided. He released his grip on the nurse's hand when the momentum of the blow dissipated soon after.

Fian could roughly guess what transpired between the two. Even though Suku would be the one with the shorter end of the stick in the relationship, Fian was more inclined to side with Rico because of his own relationship with him. "I'm sure he didnt make any promises. You walked into that one." He snapped curtly as he offered a hand to his buddy.

Rico didn’t take Fian’s assisting hand, getting up on his own steam and rubbing his cheek with the back of his wrist. He looked positively pissed, glaring venomously in Suku for a brief moment before letting the gaze slide back to the bar. On the countertop sat the drink he had ordered earlier, left untouched in his hurry to leave. The Nepleslian smiled, and put his hand back down.

“I think I’ll stay for that drink after all, baby. We still got a lotta catchin’ up to do, yeah?” He said with a friendly smile, retaking his seat at the bar and (with little effort) downed the small drink in a single tilt. “Bartender, keep ‘em coming. I’m not drivin’ tonight. So!” Rico turned his face to his friends. “What was I talkin’ about again?”

"Erm..." Kokuten brought a thumb to his teeth, and then he looked at Fian, clearly lost.

Fian didn’t really knew what to do. For him, it was impossible to continue the previous conversation wholeheartedly now that the atmosphere turned sour. Luckily it wasn’t caused by him nor was he responsible for solving it (He would, if he knew how). I guess I could play along. He thought as he a seat on a nearby table as opposed to the bar.

Rico exchanged grinning glances between the two of them. “Aw common…what were we talkin’ about…” Rico placed a hand on his chin and tapped lightly. It was difficult to tell if he was being sarcastic with his motions or actually thinking. After a moment, his face brightened up. “Oh yeah! I was tellin’ ya’ll about the Reserve Squad girls, wasn’t I. Buncha fine women in there, lemme tell ya,” Rico said casually, helping himself to another drink the bartender laid before him.

Fian clenched his fists. Shit, does this guy have a deathwish or something? He flashed a quick look towards the teary eyed Suku. This is outright disrespectful! After allowing two seconds to relax his grip and calm down, he spoke up to deflect the potential hazard. "Oh? Lots of new squads are getting ladies now that restrictions are being lifted, but, do tell me how your squad is coming along."

Kokuten looked at Suku for a moment, who was still pacing and steaming, then sat down next to Rico. His green eyes cutting in Rico's direction, not exactly sure how to handle this situation.

“Maybe I can get you in Fian. Find yourself a nice girl. This one, Chessy, says she can suck a bowlin’ ball through ‘leven feet a’ garden hose,” Rico stated in a very matter-of-fact tone. “You’d like ‘er a lot, actually, hehe. She ain’t half bad.”

The Vel Steyr was aghast. Who the hell does he think I am?! Previously Fian was looking out for Rico's safety, but now the Casanova had better fend for himself even from Fian. "I don’t think so." Fian responded, in an agitated tone.

"Rico... Have you been under any 'substances' lately?" Kokuten asked suddenly.

Rico raised an eyebrow at Kokuten before picking up his empty glass and placing it in between the two of them on the countertop. “’side from this shit, naw. Does this grog count on your “substance” list, baby?”

"Well, not exactly, it's just, your behavior has been a little... erratic?" Kokuten tilted his head with a bit of twinge in his eyes. He seemed to try to explain his concern with as little insult as possible.

Fian emphasized Kokuten's statement by tapping the tabletop and drawing attention to his quietly fuming self.

Rico gave Kokuten a long look after his reply, saying nothing as his eyes analyzed the medic. Then, abruptly, Rico turned back to Fian, leaving Kokuten without a reply of his own. “Yeah baby, I can understand that. Not all a’ the ladies on our ships are good catches, yannow?” Rico said with a short laugh, snapping his fingers at the bartender to get another drink. The bartender himself had adopted a rather irate demeanor; on one hand, this guy was buying a lot of drinks, and on the other hand, he was having to make this guy a lot of drinks.

“Shit, like the last chick I spent time with? Real piece a’ work, baby,” Rico continued. “I take her out for some eats an’ shit like that, and she takes it as some sorta…I dunno, marriage proposal or somethin’. Was real glad to get rid a’ that one, I’ll give ya that.”

Each one of Rico's descriptions seemed to chip at Suku's patience. She was unsure why Kokuten kept Rico's company over her own, but she was going to be sure to 'ask' him later. The Nurse clearly gritted her teeth and turned her head, but she seemed a little close to losing it.

Fian stood up from his chair abruptly and then massaged the spot on his head where his white hair grew. With closed eyes he mumbled, "I think that’s enough for today, spare the drinks, get some rest will you?" before marching right out of the bar.

Rico watched Fian leave through narrowed eyes and quiet apprehension...it wasn't his intention to get Fian riled. However, when the Nepleslian glanced over at Suku, in her fuming and obviously on-the-edge state, his reassured himself of his imminent success and grinned widely in spite of himself. Perhaps he did this out of pride...Rico wasn't too keen on being assaulted by a woman, nor was he partial to receiving a solid punch from one when he clearly wasn't asking for it. If Suku was going throw a hissy fit and toss punches with him, he sure as hell would give her a reason to.

"What's eatin' him, yannow?" Rico asked Kokuten...or seemed to ask Kokuten, as his eyes were still on the Geshrin nurse, her back still turned to them both. As he went on, his voice became louder and more defined, not so much aimed at single conversation with Kokuten, but to another as well. "On second thought, I don' really blame him. I'd get a little tired a' listenin' 'bout this stupid-ass chick too, yeah?"

Suku's body visibly twitched at Rico's indirect insult. With her back to the both of the men, they couldn't see how red her face had become. The Nurse thought that maybe if she held it in a little longer, Rico would get bored with it.

...

Her head began to lower and her shoulders began to rise. That minuscule patience which held her past reacting for five seconds had fallen, and she whirled around, sage-colored hair flying in through the air. Purple eyes seemed to turn red as she began to stomp towards Rico.

----

Kokuten stood as Suku started to approach Rico, and leaned forward, placing a hand in front of her chest to signal her to stop.

"Now Suku, I know your angry, but we're only talking about Rico's other friend. Don't feel any of this is directed to you, Rico's only feeling a little loose due to his consumption." His warm smile was as soothing as always.

----

Suku felt like slapping the piss out of Kokuten, she thought he knew better than to get between her and a target. Her hands stayed to her sides though, he managed to keep her calm. Instead of that, she sent a glare to Rico's direction, with her lower lip pouting a small bit.

"Shit Koku, you thick or somethin'? I am talkin' about Suku," Rico said as he swallowed another small glass of the hard liquor back. The Nepleslian's face still felt very hot, most likely from either the blow he suffered from the Geshrin nurse or the resulting embarrassment. Whatever the cause, Rico was not in a conservative and playful mood anymore. Rico waved his empty glass at Kokuten, the small cubes of ice clinking softly on the crystalline sides as he addressed him again. Even as he spoke to his good friend, however, Rico's glare never left Suku's own piercing stare.

"So get outta the way, let her do what she wants. I ain't scared a' some crazy bitch, and I ain't 'bout to let someone tap mah head an' get away with it," Rico continued to prod and challenge Suku's wavering patience.

"R-Rico! Seriousliy, I was try-..." Kokuten exclaimed at Rico's failure to play along. Words that he tried to get out were cut short by his realization of what he really needed to be concerned about. The Medic turned his head towards Suku, who was fuming and turning feral. Things like this usually didn't phase him, he was in between these kind of fights all the time in the colonies. However, one side usually didn't have Suku on it. When the nurses' face turned to a smile, he felt extra-uncomfortable.

"Suku, really, don't get infl-" Kokuten began, but was cut off immediately.

"You think you're real tough, huh?" Suku giggled, her expression seemingly lighting up. "I also bet you think you're safe behind tall'n'stupid right here, right?" Her smile became bothersome.

"S-suku, w-" Kokuten began to stutter, not out of fear, but of surprise of her friends biting comment.

"Well guess what?" Suku's tone began to turn back into anger. "You're NOT!"

With that, she used all her strength to throw Kokuten off balance and out of the way, and then pounced towards Rico. The tossed medic found himself at a complete loss of balance and came falling down onto the floor.

Rico slammed the thick glass onto the countertop and stood up off of his stool, turning to face the two as Suku prepared for her assault. "What, you wanna do this now or somethin'? Huh?! Fine, common!" Rico provoked further, waving his hands inwardly, beckoning her to attack him. Although a part of him had actually hoped that Kokuten's presence would've stemmed such a response, Rico didn't mind this outcome either...being angry made things so much less complex.

"Common! I dare ya!"

Kokuten's forehead hit the floor first, among his other facial features, which dazed him enough to make him unable to react too quickly. He slowly began to move again and raised his head, but an immense and searing pain in his head caused him to rest his forehead back down on the cold floor.

----

Suku's anger was unmitigated as she began to growl at Rico's gestures of confidence.

"God damn, I'm actually surprised someone hasn't killed you yet! You cocky, sleazy" she made her charge on him, forcing him back towards the bar and revving back a fist to punch him in the face, "son of a BITCH!"

She threw her punch.

Unlike the last time which caught Rico off-guard, unsuspecting and slightly confused, the Nepleslian was fully aware of this punch. As Suku wound up, Rico bent his knees slightly in preparation and swiftly slid along the edge of the bar. Suku's blow continued, propelled by the momentum, as Rico shoved her back towards and bar and stepped back a ways. He seemed far to occupied with the matter at hand to ask for Kokuten was alright, and at this particular moment he couldn't really say that he cared. There would be a time for that after this.

"Shit, you think I won't hit ya or somethin' sweetheart?" Rico said with a small smile, raising his arms and balling his fists lightly in front of his chest. "I grew up gettin' my ass kicked by girls twice as big as you, so you betta' think twice 'bout this."

Kokuten made an odd sound as he attempted to rise from the floor. However, Rico's quick approach towards him and then past caused the dazed medic to push himself backwards. This caused the occipital part of his head to ring against the table leg behind him. A low groan escaped from his mouth as he gripped the back of his head.
----
Suku nearly tripped over the bar as her fist flew over it. Her stomach rested on it's cool surface as she tried to ascertain what had just happened. Across from her, was a lining of bottles, which gave her a devious idea. She grasped the neck end of a Blue Moonie and slid it off it's spot on the shelf. From anyone with an above table view the grab was rather obvious.

"Bigger girls, huh? That some kind of insult?" Suku spat, her back to Rico, the bottle out of sight right now as her arm hung over the opposite end of the bar. She turned her head, making it so that one side of her face was visible to him.

"You calling me short? Tough guy?" Her eyes locked on to him, the spite tossed as his direction was almost obvious. "Well..." she started, but was unable to come up with a proper insult at the moment. So instead, she just came over the bottle with the bar, strode over to Rico, and swung the bottle of Blue Moonie at him.

"Well FUCK YOU, TOO!"
