Kaiko Park

There was a soft breeze in the air that carried fall's new crispness but also something else a little more uncommon, too. The wind in Kaiko Park picked up the shed furs and scents that were coming off the animals brought to the large field that the park's western entrance spilled out into. The reason for this was simple, an adoption drive was going on to benefit animals in need of new homes. There were rows of kawaii in cages and ringed pens where puppied and old dogs alike played and hoped for new homes. Far from the cats were the birds that had been taken from places outside of Yamatai to act as exotic pets and near them were even sugar gliders and Lorath and other creatures with prehensile tails that now needed someone to care for them forevermore. Even if people were not able to adopt that day, they could make a donation to any of the various organizations and have their name written on a piece of paper shaped like a paw or heart that hung from poles, wafting in the stiff breeze like omikuji fortunes would after being tied up at a shrine.

Though the day was for animals to be rescued and cared for, there was a stage set up where Kyoto Sekai sang and danced to her latest album to draw in crowds. There were several fair games and a meat on a stick cart next to a shaded set of tables with various coffee accoutrement selling she brew coffee. A few Star Army crew were milling about despite the no pets on starships policy, but so were random civilians and even a few more Iromakuanhe than one would normally see in central Yamatai. The walkways around Kaiko Park were as open as ever, but the general atmosphere was much more lowkey than the holidays that usually happened here. Though the park had mostly evergreens, a good many of the trees around the central lawn had begun turning bright crimson and orange before the cold Kyoto winter to come.
