RP (non-canon): D&D Post Mission 1: Changing of the Guard

". . . And that is that. Now, shall we set out or rest up for the day? I should think that we need some form of healing, unless Kobold healers are a common sort of thing and Gix just happens to be one." Ghira blandly stated, glancing towards the creature.

"Nope, I'm not a healer, I tend to break things and people." Gix replied with a snarl as he fingered his rapier making sure it was loose in its sheathe. "We may as well rest while we're here since it likely won't be nearly this accommodating out on the road," he said looking at the others.

After about 7-8 hours of sleep, the party is awoken by a loud bang. About three seconds later it becomes apparent where the same sound came from as another bang is heard coming from the front door of the building, accompanied by the sound of cracking wood.

Gix was standing by the door baring his teeth and flexing his talons to rip whatever came through the door first apart since he'd heard the noise and left his bed without grabbing any of his gear since he had natural weapons that were as effective as what he had.

Ghira was up later than the rest in terms of activity, but in actuality was up earlier than all of them, preparing spells. He snapped to a little later than Gix did, jolting out of his bed with one preparation of Mage armor, Quickened Magic Missile, two regular Magic Missiles, and three castings of Detect Magic. He activated the armor and a Detect Magic immediately .

Ghira's Detect Magic spell had just enough time to bounce back some minor spell information before the door slammed forward on it's hinges. In the doorway was the towering form of an ape, roaring as it beat its chest. Behind it a human could be seen in flowing robes, moving his hands and chanting the words to a spell. As he finished his spell, the ape charged.

The Imaskari was first to respond, loosing a Quickened Magic Missile at the Ape, then a regular Magic Missile once the first had left his fingertips.

"Someone take on the human!" He called out during this action, preparing his next move mentally.

Talarin saw the man just as he heard Ghira shout for someone to take him out. So he did the first thing he could think of to disrupt the man's spell casting. He threw his half-spear. and as soon as he did that he moved as far from the ape as possible. He could tell that there was a powerful enchantment making the ape's fangs and claws sharper and more deadly. As soon as he felt that he was out immediate danger he started summoning up his inner powers to Unleash a barrage of missles made from pure energy.

Gix stuck his head directly into the path of the charging Ape and with an earsplitting roar launched his breath weapon directly into its face and hitting the wizard preferably as well.

Aurelus had spent the remainder of the evening silent. The war, all a sham. His family had been slain for no reason other than to further this evil organization's plot. There were no lands to take over, no lord or king to follow. Just mere death at the behest of some damned sorcerers that wanted to do as they pleased with the world!

Upon waking up, he had donned his armor and equipped his shield and sword, but remained silent despite the imminent threat to the crew. Once the door burst open, Aurelus would simply wait for the right moment.

With the door being banged on, he knew that whatever was behind it would, upon opening the door, be facing the team. They wouldn't expect him to be standing next to the door, flattened against he wall next to it. So as the party reacted to the sorcerer and the ape, Aurelus would wait for the assailants to rush inside, as they had been trying to do for a while now. When he saw the ape rush in, hitting the little kobold critter as it tried to overpower an ape's rush by spitting fire at it [good luck], he'd follow after and flank the ape, attempting to slash it along the back with his longsword, throwing aim out the window in favor of sheer power.

"AAAAAHHHHH!!!"

The three balls of magical energy slammed into their intended target. At a glance, Talarin could see that his shortspear had left a very deep wound under the armpit of the human, where his armor lacked sufficient protection.

The ape roared as the wave of sonic energy being emitted from the small lizard battered his ears, although the human seemed to ignore the noise. If that wasn't enough to set the large animal off, the longsword that was plunged into his back certainly did the trick.

The human managed to ignore his wounds as he chanted and moved his hands in order to conduct his next spell, which was again recognized by Talarin. A few moments later the ape roared again as it rose high in the air and slammed its fists down at Gix, followed by a quick movement of the beast's teeth for Gix's throat. Luckily, he managed to dodge one of the fists and the animal's teeth couldn't penetrate his thick scales.

With the beast not down yet, and Aurelus' pent up rage, the fighter's mind went into a state of frenzied need to kill the beast and once again slashed with all his might, using both hands to slash his sword across the beast's back, this time horizontally. Aim be damned, he wanted to slice the creature into ribbons if he could, and lose himself in the blood of his victim!

"DIE, DAMN YE, DIE!!!"

Ghira noted the fact that his rage-driven ally seemed to have the ape situation under control, so he shifted his focus to the spellcaster. Another Missile was launched at the Human, Ghira focusing in on his target. if there's one thing living in caves prepares you for, it's close-quarters spellcasting.

It seemed that Aurelus should have concentrated a little more on his aim, because as he recklessly brought his sword at the ape he missed and hit his own little lizard companion. Still standing, Gix managed to claw the ape with both of his claws, not managing to get a hold with his teeth however. Ghira's missile then smashed into the human.

Afterwards, the human rushed over to the ape, chanting as he moved, and placed his hand upon the ape, healing it with his divine magic. However, the movement allowed Talarin to put an elbow into the human's rib, dealing a decent amount of damage. The ape managed to swing its fists at Gix again, however failed to deal any damage.

Talarin quickly followed up his elbow by throwing himself at the human in an attempt to wrestle him down. Living on a farm had given him many opportunites to practice and he was fairly decent.

Since Ghira couldn't make a shot at the human while Talarin was taking him down, the wizard summoned his snake instead and sent the poisonous little beast at the human, firing another Missile at the ape.

Seeing that the strike he had meant to kill the ape had missed and hit the kobold instead, Aurelus growled audibly and let out an angry yell towards his companions. "GET AWAY FROM ME N' THE BEASTIE, YE LOT! THE CREATURE IS MINE!"

As the mage touched the creature Aurelus wound up for yet another swing, and used his whole body's torque to execute a horizontal slash across the large primate's back. Once again he'd blindly strike at the creature, not caring for aim. His anger was too much for him to control himself. "GRrrrAAAARRRHHGGG!!!"
