RP: NSS Acadia [Post Mission 3]: R&R (Rest and Rations)

The Chief clutched his Vibrosaw in a point-forward position, keeping his left arm raised up to his chest and his melee weapon low at his waist, keeping his body bladed towards Chad to present to his opponent a smaller target, in order to more effectively dodge stabbing attacks.

Seeking to not press forward a charge which he would lose against an AIR, the Chief started to circle around Chad, the distance between them becoming ever so smaller. It was an extremely slow charge which would afford the Chief more time to think and react than if he were to charge against a highly mobile PA with a lance.

"Remember, that fucking lance of yours is good for stabbing and slashing from a long ways away. But if you ever let an opponent get past that blade of yours, you are fucked." The Chief continued his very slow circular advance. "Here's where you find out what kind of a pilot you are. You either bide your time with a conservative approach, or strike fast and hard with more risk." The Chief had circled to within 12 feet of Chad once he was done talking.

From the entrance to the room a figure was leaning up against the door watching the goings-on. Jet had long since put...her stuff into her quarters and was wearing the standard issue uniform except for the fact she just had a black sleeveless shirt on and her trademark red coat which now sported a collar of golden fur. With the rank patches and the like affixed to the collar or some other visible spot. "Well well isn't this interesting. I'd heard that you guys had a bit of leave time and here you are sparring with each other, how cliche." Sgt Endurain smirked from where she was leaning with her back against the inside wall after stepping inside with her arms crossed over the chest.

Chad had got to his lance, that was good. But since the Chief was good a close range and he had little experience, or patience with it he allowed the Chief to close in the gap between them. He marked his words and watched waiting for a moment when he could use his suits speed and get his opponent where it hurt.

Then Chad felt something collide with armored skirt, and quickly turned around to see a Aggressor hurtling toward him. He recognized the blade and lifted his shield with the Lance at ready. Chad had done this just in time so that the Aggressor would inevitably ram its self into Chad's Lance.

Anselm grimaced as his knife fell short of triggering the AIR's training protocols, instead warning the rookie of his incoming assailant.

"HOLY SHIT!" was all the marine had time to say as his onboard Savtech swiveled the Aggressor's boosters, narrowly avoiding being impaled on the lance. The albino slammed full-force into the shield, triggering his own armor's training protocols and reducing the heavy PA to a lump of inertia, all 2.5 tons of it. Unfortunately, Anselm did not escape with only his pride wounded, a faint tingle ran up the marine's left arm, notifying its owner that his cybernetic had just suffered damage; specifically, it had just been impaled by Private Swigelff's murderous lance.

Alex was a little surprised when Hayden boosted himself agains her. But not her as a ripper but her in her Hostile. She immediately got angry. She wanted to crush that man. What did he not understood about training against Ripper? And did he realy thought that it will work? That she will follow him in his trap?

Although it was strange looking at herself standing still in her hostile out of the area that was used for sparring. Hayden was moving around a little while he was approaching Alexandras Hostile and Alex played along and followed him with a Ripper.

She also initialzed her Hostiles Ai and when Hayden gto closer, she just stoped Ripper, cut herself from it and hurled herself in Hostile against Jack. One fast thruther jump against him and she gave him a mouthful of her fist. Armor should take it but he coudl get a little tossed around in it.

She then yelled at him, "WHAT DIDN'T YOU UDNESTOOD ABOUT FIGHTING WITH RIPPER WANKER!" She was quite furious and unhappy about ID-SOL.

Detecting the incoming impact, the NIGHT's Savtech reacted instantly to boost the armor out of harms reach; Kajiim's blade missed connecting with Phaedra's left shoulder by mere inches.

"Good," said Phaedra hovering just above the HOSTILE.
"If I had been a Ripper, that attack would have rendered my PA inoperable. You definitely have some skill with a blade to pull off a move like that," she said.

The wings on Phaedra's NIGHT unfolded, and she suddenly disappeared from Kajiim's HUD, appearing indistinguishable from the rest of the crew.

"One cannot always trust your sensors," said Phaedra's voice on Kajiim's comm. "It's times like those that you go with your gut feeling, the instincts imprinted into you from your training."

"Now it's your turn as a Ripper. Use only your forward thrusters and come at me."

Kajiim smirked hearing the compliment, then watching the wings unfold on her NIGHT, he frowned slightly when his target vanished from his targeting system. But it wasn't too much of a drawback he figured, she's still right in front of me

Kajiim warmed up the thrusters, cocking back his knife hand with the open hand in a forward position palm out.

He boosted forward and in quick succession jumped from the ground, shifted his weight mid-air to face his PA downward then at the peak of his jump let the boosters roar, rocketing straight down with a cross hook from his right knife hand allowing the knife to slash if the punch missed and pinning the P2C with a knee to the gut against the floor.

"Thanks for the hint." Kajiim remarked with a cocky smirk on his face.

Henry put a dummy version of his Condensed Fusion Cutter up, which equated to a big purple stick over a metre and a half long attached to where the beam would usually emit from.
He noticed that nobody had tried to engage him, and the Ripper had already been taken. However, this was a good opportunity to size up everyone else's fighting and watch to learn.

The Chief is absolutely right about Chad's Lance, He rubbed his chin and nodded, Even though Chad has an advantage in reach, it can be mitigated and turned against him.

Then he spotted an opportunity to strike against Chad, after watching Anslem make a fool of himself. He took note of that.

"A jump invites a hit unless you're truly sure you can hit in before he does," He chimed in as he boosted forward confronted Chad with his VOID's Snakeskin breaking up his outline, and a trio of shield drones to protect him. He was keeping a reasonable distance of 12 feet and holding his dummy-Condensed Fusion Cutter at the ready.

If Chad made a strike, he'd attempt to parry the blow upwards and move under the Lance, going for the kidneys of the armour.

The Chief, despite being rather close to the action, had simply backed up a bit once Anselm came charging at Chad, and a wave of "unsurprise" washed over his face upon seeing the Aggressor getting itself stuck by Chad's lance.

"This is why we fucking bide our time and strike at the right fucking moment, people!" The Chief turned around to look at everyone in the bay, pointing up at Chad and Anselm. "We're not Yamatai. We don't move as fast as them. We take and hold ground in a conservative manner! We go into combat with our brains intact and our armor in cover, and only until we establish our dominance do we charge in!"

The Chief turned to Anselm. "Throwing a knife at someone and charging them in a heavy suit does not constitute battlefield dominance! That means you just gave your enemy your weapon and are now charging at him! You put yourself in a position where you are forced to act and think too quickly, while he was in a position to stay focused!"

The Chief whirled around and stuck his Vibroblade into the floor, so that it was pointing up at roughly a 45 degree angle. "You." He pointed to Chad, then pointed at the knife. "I want you to stand here in a proper stance." The Chief demonstrated by placing his left leg forward, slightly bent, and his right leg in back, his heel hovering just above the blade's edge. "Just how I'm doing it. With your heel barely touching the blade. And you."

The Chief pointed to Morris, motioning for a tech to wheel a second Vibrosaw over. Once it arrived, he stuck it in the ground in the same manner, close enough to the first blade. "You two are gonna stand here facing each other, and you are going to fight with your fists. Advance, you lose. Retreat and touch the knife, you lose. No fucking PPG blasts! GET TO IT! I want to see everyone in here do the same fucking thing for one round! Go get an extra knife if you don't have one already!"

Turning around to step backwards to supervise, the Chief caught the sight of a very familiar Marine standing in the doorway, as well as her comments. "Endurain." The Chief said plainly, almost in an acknowledging manner. "You need to go lookin' for the Master Chief. Or are you here to watch this shit go down and make jokes?"

As Alex moved to punch him, Jack ducked down as low as he possibly could. The punch didn't fully connect with his face as it had probably been aimed but it did knock him on the back of his head, causing his entire upper body to jolt downwards a little as he began turning around. It was at this time that he heard the chief making his announcements to the entire team before roughly stabbing two knives in to the ground. He recognized the style: if they weren't in power armor and those were simply regular knives then the concept was that if you tried to retreat from the fighting then you were going to slice your own foot open.

Jack looked back at Alex from over his shoulder and briefly pointed to the knives before shrugging as if asking: "You want to go?" to the young woman without actually speaking.

"Do you have a knife?" He asked "I can get two if you don't." Jack offered.

"Well I'm still technically on leave just like everyone else Rui." Jet responded with a shrug of her shoulders. "It looks like you got a bunch of idiots straight out boot this time."he said, looking over the situation that was forming up now with the knives. "And I thought I'd kill a little time seeing what was going on in here due to hearing you barking orders again." She smirked.

Too late Phaedra saw Kajiim's intended destination. She attempted to boost out of his path, but she already knew she wasn't going to escape the collision. At the last second she folded her NIGHT's wings to avoid damaging them, and jabbed her VCS at the weaker belly armor of the HOSTILE. Then Kajiim's armored knee connected with her gut and slammed her to the deck; Phaedra's VCS pounding into Kajiim's stomach with equal force. Both impacts contained enough force to cause a shutdown on both of the armors. There they sat momentarily frozen; Kajiim's HOSTILE tangled with Phaedra's NIGHT in an embrace of death.

"Thanks for the hint," Kajiim remarked.

"Damn...You have good instincts," said Phaedra with a grunt. Both armors reactivated and Phaedra tried to slide out from under the HOSTILE, but she still remained firmly pinned in place.

"Ugh...think you could get off of me now?"

Jet looked over at the reappearing NIGHT and chuckled. She personally liked those armors and always wanted to try one out. "Well well you have a black ops person here. Or did they let just anyone use a NIGHT armor?" She asked in a bemused voice.

Damn.. wasn't expecting that.. she's good. Kajiim looked at the knife buried in his gut.

As the armor reactivated he heard Phaedra over his comm,
"Ugh...think you could get off of me now?"

Kajiim instantly responded, "Heh, oops yeah sure just give me a sec.." Kajiim lifted the HOSTILE up off of its victim and offered a hand to help the fallen Phaedra. While helping his sparring partner up Kajiim was listening to the Chief's rant.

Looking at Phaedra and nodding, Kajiim threw his knife into the ground just like the Chief had demonstrated. "Now we just need another kni-... wait," Kajiim looked back at his gut, "Oh yeah heh" Kajiim laughed a bit before pulling Phaedra's knife from his PA and handing it back to her.

Alex took her Vibrosaw and stabbed it in the ground. "Of course I have a knife," her voice didn't sound happy at all. Fist fight should be okay. In PA she and that ID-SOL should have same advantages and disadvantages. "We will have a talk after this," she added.

SHe moved Ripper away so it won't hinder anybody and moved in to position. She raised her fists to let Hayden see that she is ready. "Let's get to it," she said then.

When Chad caught the Aggressor he was forced back a lot, but was able to power his thrusters and stop the momentum. He then allowed the skewerd PA to fall to the ground Lance still in his Arm.

So there Chad was, Aggressor at his feet, one completely random guy (who is apparently named Morris), circling him, and a Chief who liked to pick excercises that that ended up having to focus on all of Chad's weak spots. Chad was starting to lose his wa over this, not to mention things were probably going to get worse and he started to desperatley crave a Neppie's meal, and he doubted there was a Neppie's on this hunk of scrap.

Unfortunately, all of Chad's intuitions were correct. Things just got worse and there was no Neppies on board.

The Chief rambled and Chad kinda listened and started to wonder why he kept getting picked on in these little escapades. But he was two for three in victorys in this and he doubted the other one would ever finish or start.

Finally the Chief said something about Hand to hand, and that got Chad's undivided attention. Then the chief had him do a little stance demonstration and finally Chad decided it was time to get out of there before he got the shit beaten out of him and worst of all, really embarassed. So Chad laid down the bull shit. "Um excuse me, Chief my man, Um since I sorta almost took this guys arm off would you like me to escort him to the infirmary and stuff. I know what kind of fun I'm going to miss here but seeing as how I almost killed him, I feel its my responsibility to make sure he is alright". Hopefully the Chief bought his attempt at getting out of this crap.

Jack had to avoid shaking his head at his own stupidity upon hearing the tone in Alex's voice. He practically knew from the very start that she wouldn't have 'appreciated' such a move as much as his instructors in basic had...why had he done it anyways? Jack listened as she snapped at him about her already having a knife: she had quite the unfair attitude. This suit wasn't his and he had literally just arrived that day, how was he supposed to have his suit already armed? He left once again to retrieve a vibrosaw before returning. There was no time for excuses right now.

"Okay then, let's do this." Jack said, stabbing his own knife in to the ground, and causing a techie watching all the happenings wincing at the thought of being chewed out by his superior for the knife marks in the floor of the bay.

Jack positioned his foot over the blade as part of a proper CQC fighting stance. He was nervous about this: of course they were both in power armor but the field medic was afraid that he might hurt her in some way...then she would just get even more pissy. Jack breathed deep and watched her carefully from within the helmet of his power armor.

"Ready when you are, ma'am." He said.

Jet looked over at Chad and heard his bullshit excuse about wanting to escort someone to the infirmary and let out a sigh. "You idiot. this is a training exercise; you probably didn't really hurt the guy. And if he's feeling good enough to walk to the infirmary; he's well enough to take a bit more of a beating." Jet snapped at the recruit. "Unless you want me to knock your on your ass and show you just what WOULD get you hauled out of here, I suggest you do what the chief here just told you to do soldier!" She said in a deceptively calm voice, with a hand on the hip.

Alex assumed similiar stance as Hayden. "Okay, we will start with some practice and exchange few blows, then we will go at it." She said to her sparring partner. She calmed down a little. And at least P3C knew his chain of command. Even when Alex was only one rank above him.

She started with few practice blows. One of them were alway at defense and other on offense. After few minutes of that she raised her hand. "Okay that's it." she said and assumed combat stance. "Now it's going to be real. Try to know me down, and don't hold back as long as your PA is in training mode it will be no problem. And remember it is a fist fight! Okay GO!" She finished her talk and got ready for his attack.

Yep, only gonna get worse from here. Chad sighed and set off to pick up a knife. He'd get these officers back at the Range sometime.

Still craving some Neppies, Chad picked up the knife that was thrown at him earlier and posted it into the floor. He was mostlikely going to get his ass kicked so he thought he would get it kicked by someone respectable. " Hey, Chief Ran, lets finish this." He said it with a smile. If he was lucky then he would get knocked out and could spend the rest of this excersise in utter solitude.
