RP: NSS Acadia [Post Mission 3]: R&R (Rest and Rations)

"Either way, I'll probably survive. Probably." Sean shrugged, and moved out of the way when Suku told him to, finding a new spot out of the way next to the wall inside. When she came back near him, he spoke up a bit. "Hey, you need someone to take care of the kid for a bit? You look like you're a bit busy."

"Wait... What?" Suku's angry edge seemed to show at Carina. "What do you mean you don't know?"

"Hey, you need someone to take care of the kid for a bit? You look like you're a bit busy."

"One second." The Medical Officer held up a hand in Sean's direction, keeping her eyes on the little girl. "Carina. Sweetie..." Suku loomed over the little girl, her usual smile turning into something menacing.

Carina just stared up at Suku, seemingly petrified in her tracks. The box she'd been holding above her head shook, little balls of gauze tumbling out as if the fear of the Burning Hand had come in and swatted her on the rear. Her legs quaked slightly, her bottom lip trembling slightly.

"I-I-I d-d-do-d-don' k-n-kn-know...w-where it is..." she squeaked out again...stammering over her words laced fully with fright. Her feet finally seemed to be able to work, and she promptly put one behind her very slowly.

This wasn't good, every secret the Medical Officer had was in that pad, along with an instant access to the Alliance's medical records. If anyone got their hands on it, they'd be able to black-mail her for everything she had. Which, was probably something everyone would like to do her at this point. Suddenly, Suku Matsobuki felt extremely vulnerable.

Suku squatted down to the little girl, giving her a disturbed smile.

"Sweetie..." Her gaze became much more intense, turning into a very restrained glare as she continued through her smiling teeth. "Where. Is. My. DataJockey?"

In that instant Carina looked as skittish as a deer in that instant. She continued to stammer unintelligibly before gulping seeing Suku smiling through her teeth...literally. Carina tried again, except a constricted 'meep' escaped from between her lips. Deciding to make a break for it, she did, a few slow backsteps, and she turned on her heel as fast as she could.

"Paaaaapppppppiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!" she squealed, running out of the medical bay her hands still raised as she carried the box of gauze, bypassing Sean, and the other marines outside. "She's gonna' eeeaaaatttttt meeeeeee!!!!" the box finally fell away as she then began to run in earnest.

Suku watched the little girl run off, not following specifically because of her own frustration. She probably should've seen this coming, handing off the data pad to Carina. Sean caught her attention for the moment and she shook her head.

"No offense, kid, but I don't know you, and I wouldn't really trust Carina in the hands of someone I don't know." Suku walked back over to Gyles, cleaning up his wounds. She looked over at Sean.

"Why the hell are you down here, anyway?"

"Here." Gyles reached for his datapad and handed it to Suku, feeling less willing to stand around and see her flare up again than he might have thought. Sure, it was thrilling to have his life threatened, but watching her give the kid the eyes of death was just terrible. "You can borrow mine, ma'am. It s'not loik I use'at thing for anythin' 'cept work anyways."

All of my valuable files and porn passwords are actually in my visor.

Once the IPG agents had filed away, Rico found his chance to approach the MC. He'd been sitting off to the side for a little while, mulling around in his agitated state as he watched the IPG do their messy work. Thumbs casually in his pockets, Rico nodded towards Fian, noting his expression. "How's it look, baby," Rico asked, referring more to the situation, rather than the grim hallway.

"My leg is still aching a bit, I wanted to get it looked at one last time just to make sure everything's healing right." He paused, taking time to consider his next words. "And I meant no offense. It just seems like you have a lot to do, so I thought you might appreciate the offer. I can come back another time, if you'd like."

The ID-SOL couldn't help but shrug at Viktor's question. He stopped in the hallway to face the marine. "Honestly, I'm not too sure. Figured I'd do some training but I don't think we can take PAs out this close to station and I haven't seen any training pods to work with either. How about you?"

Fian glanced back at Rico, before returning to looking straight ahead. He simply couldn't meet the Sanroma's gaze. "Terrible." He mumbled. "That's me, keeping the men alive on the field so they can die ingloriously out of it." The Vel Steyr bit his lip. "Avel made.... Advances to me just after the mission, but I couldn't give it to her. Maybe that caused her to snap further."

The MC dropped his head. "Now the other thre- I mean, two female marines on the squad are traumatized, thinking that they had something to do with it." Fian recalled the time he combed through the automatic video recordings of each suit during the investigation. He also recalled that Sam's military records clearly states that he is a guy, contrary to convenience and suspicions. "You're better with women than I am." Fian continued bitterly, jealous for once of the Casanova's ability. "Tell me, tell me what should I have done, and what should I do next!"

After a volley of hammer strikes, a bit of arc welding (with a mask), screw-drivering everything into place, adding a leather strap for easy carry, then finally hand-stamping his name along the stock. He'd finally finished his rifle. All he had to do now was head to the range and test it. Henry chuckled to himself quietly

He put his new creation over his shoulder and started walking towards the firing range. He remembered that the Alliance had a firing range, so hopefully the Acadia wouldn't be a slouch in that department either.
After a few fruitless minutes of searching, he paused, unable to locate a firing range, short of letting off shots in the ship. He had to ask someone if there was one on the ship.

"Excuse me, Viktor, Talbain," He addressed the two men as he walked by, stopping to ask a question, "Either of you wouldn't happen to know if there's a firing range on the Acadia, wouldn't you?"

The first thing they'd notice is that Henry had a rifle they hadn't seen before over his shoulder.

Suku shook her head, not wanting Gyles nasty Tech Sentry germs on her. At least, any more than she already had, which she noticed as she stared at her hands at the moment. As she stared, she began to notice that she was rather spattered with blood, and wearing it like a Sunday dress. The bloody attire only distracted her for a second before she looked up at Sean with a plain stare.

"I don't have any trouble taking care of Carina, but she could always use somebody new to fuck around with." Suku's stare evolved into something with more disgust, she gave a short pause. "Just talk to Rico about it, it's not really my decision."

After a quiet moment, she sighed and then shook her head as then gestured to the table next to Gyles, "Alright, take your pants and boots off, and let me look at it."

Despite not feeling so good himself, Rico put on a smile for his distraught peer. Fian's concerns were good concerns to have, ones that Rico sure didn't want. "Yeah, ya should leave th' women to me," he agreed jokingly, his sordid attempt to lighten the mood as he patted the side of Fian's shoulder a single time.

"I don't think ya coulda' done anythin' different," Rico spoke again, giving his actual advice. "Some people ain't cut out for this kinda stuff. Ya go through basic jus' fine, but when shit hits the fan... fella's crack. Fact a' life," the sergeant said casually. He wasn't too partial to the idea of marines getting a little crazy, but he had to admit, this wasn't the first time this has happened, and it certainly wouldn't be the last.

Sean did as ordered, quickly declothing himself and hopping up on a cot. "Honestly, I don't think anything's wrong,, so just a quick check should be fine. And it's up to you. I only offered because I thought you could use your help. Plus, I don't think I've met 'Rico' just yet."

"Has there ever been a time when a drink hasn't sounded really good?" asked Harrison.

"Possibly, but I'm certain I do not know when that time would be," said Phaedra with a smirk. She turned away from the bloody scene behind her and started back towards the cafeteria with Harrison.

Shit, I'd better report to Vel Steyr

Groaning under the weight that the cigarettes and morphine placed on his head, the Chief sauntered over to a trash can, and while shaking off the light-headed feeling that was making it hard for him to think clearly, threw his trash away and went off to search for the Master Chief.

Still thinking the Master Chief would be at the scene dealing with whatever appropriate sources of authority would be there, the Chief made for the brig where Avel was shot. Upon arrival, the Chief caught the tail-end of the clean-up process, finding it hard to believe he was not even an hour ago trying to disarm and disable that mess. The flakes of bone, small droplets of blood and chunks of flesh belonged to someone.

Not wishing to be caught in too much of an introspective mood regarding the incident, the Chief pulled out a cigarette and lit it, inhaling and exhaling the smoke through his nostrils rather quickly. He didn't need anyone thinking that this bothered him too much. Of course, it was natural for him to be ashamed that a small woman did so much damage to him. However, the fact that he shot one of his own Marines was weighing heavily on him, even after the incident with O'Donnel several years back.

Trailing cigarette smoke through the hallway, the Chief sauntered over to Fian and Rico, slightly surprised to see the latter on board, even if the two never interacted a whole lot. Shooting the Sergeant a nod, anyway, the Chief took a last drag of his cigarette before stomping it out on the ground, blowing the smoke away from the two.

"Sir." The Chief said, trying to sound as unaffected as possible. "Guessing you'll need a report on what happened."

Talbain gave Henry a nod in greeting while taking a good look at his rifle a bit dumbfounded by it. He'd never seen such a design and weapons was something the ID-SOL made a point to keep up with. "Don't think there's a range on the ship, or any training facilities really. You looking to test out that rifle?" He stopped for a moment and rubbed his jaw for a moment contemplating what kind of performance the rifle had before a thought occurred to him. "This is really the first time we have free range of the ship isn't it. It's always been briefings, armor bay, and medical visits up till now hasn't it?"

Phaedra said:
"Possibly, but I'm certain I do not know when that time would be."

"Funerals, maybe." Harrison shrugged, indifferent. In reality, he'd drank at a lot of funerals. Usually he'd drank heavily, then stumbled out in the middle of the service to puke in the street. It hadn't happened since he'd joined the service, but there were now a lot of sidewalks in front of a lot of funeral homes with vomit stains on the pathway.

And on that pleasant note, Phaedra and Harrison arrived in the mess hall. The ex-merc, still with Avel's blood on his hands (literally), made his way first over to a sink to rinse them clean. Once he'd gotten rid of most of the mess, Harrison began to prod at various NMR bags until he found the familiar shape of the miniature whiskey bottles in two of them. He handed one off to Phaedra and kept the other one for himself, tearing into it without even looking at the food, instead going straight for the whiskey bottle. Once he got to it, the ex-merc immediately commenced to draining it.

"Some people ain't cut out for this kinda stuff. Ya go through basic jus' fine, but when shit hits the fan... fella's crack. Fact a' life,"
Fian took a sharp intake of breath, memories of his post-boot camp coming back to him. He remembered shooting at shadows, he remembered bashing a POW to pulp and enjoying it. He understood now, everybody cracks to varying degrees, this is not something he could change. It is also not completely out of the ordinary when that crack happens to be too much. The MC straightened his posture and allowed a small smile to cross his lips.

"Sir." The Chief said, trying to sound as unaffected as possible. "Guessing you'll need a report on what happened."
He then turned to look at his second in command, his previously resolved mystified displeasure was now replaced by another. "I saw the vids. She did get the better of you, do you have anything to add?"
