RP: NSS Acadia [Post Mission 3]: R&R (Rest and Rations)

Fian was furious!

"T-this-this little piece of fart is related to you?!" he was taken aback. While he knows Carina does not interfere with the Marine's work, a combat vessel was simply no place for a small child to be running around, it was too dangerous! All his attempts in finding out from whence she came from failed. The ship's digital logbook lists her down as a passenger without a destination, the entry was personally jotted down by Captain Esther and that woman wasn't around for him to question. He suspected that one of the caretakers brought her aboard, but none of them admitted to it. Other than that one time they both ran into each other, he never encountered the little squirt after that for an impromptu interrogation session even though all the other crew sees her all the time. Lastly there was his pudding, by the Maker how does she steal under his very nose?!

He should have known she was related to the Sanroma, the family resemblance was there and he refused to believe it!

"Why is she even onboard, explain yourself!" Fian pointed his finger at Rico sternly.
 
"Cool," Sam remarked in response to Alex. A clone... lots of those around here. Always wondered what it'd be like to be a year old and look twenty... oh well, I'll find out first time I get fragged. She rubbed the towel over her bald head, then chucked it away. "I could use a fuckin' drink, let's go." She tucked her hands in her uniform pockets and nodded at Alex as she started to walk back to the mess hall.
 
By the time Fian had rounded on Rico, Carina had gotten to her feet, her little cheeks still red from the effort of running for her life. It wasn't until she'd heard the Vel Steyr call her, her cheeks were a shade darker, and they puffed out slightly. She promptly stood right in front of him, and jabbed him hard in the stomach with one of her little fingers, by no means afraid of the taller marine.

"Hey leave him alone ya' meanie! An' ain't a lil' fart, ya' girly twig man!" she piped up at him heatedly. The little girl then rammed a hand home into one of her pant pockets, pulling out a thick card-like device a SAVtech, shoving it into one of his hands before promptly kicking him in the shins.

"An' that was from Miss Elsae she told me to do that!" Carina yelled, pointing at the SAVtech card she'd put in his hand. "She's mad at ya for not talkin' to her for a long time an'... an' for scarin' me!" the little girl positively quivered with anger at this point clearly she'd not forgiven him for scaring her on the Dust Devil. With her arms crossed over her chest, nose in the air haughtily before she made ready to stomp off and away from them in the direction of the mess hall. She still hadn't gotten to eat a decent meal due to all the ruckus, and fully intended to at least get something else down beyond half a meat roll and nothing to drink.
 
"We can also finish with grub while we are at it. Those wings you ahd looked to good to let them go to waste," said Alex and smiled. This man is interesting, she thought. They finished walking to mess-hall and Alex quietly took a little pile of rations to table.
 
Wait, she can't be seriously considering attacking me?

And then Carina did, Fian should really stop cutting the fairer sex any kind of slack, regardless of age. There was no way this Mishhuspawn could be related to his Rico. The black haired Nepleslian only managed to avoid the same fate as Ran because of Carina's diminutive size, it hurt nonetheless. Fian resisted the urge to bend over and massage his shins, the halfway result was a stance similar to a Crooked Demon, slightly bent forward, fingers twisted in a clawlike manner and held infront of the body.

"You little-!"
 
Carina just gave Fian a decidedly smug look before breaking into a run down the hallway as his hands were twisted into claws. She knew he was mad, that was the intended purpose of it all. Elsae had wanted her to kick him in the shins for her own reasons, and the young Sanroma had been more then willing to oblige.

Though as she left the three standing there, Fian hunched over and appearing as a Crooked Demon made manifest in human-form, he'd hear a little mantra from her reverberating down the hall.

"Girly man, Girly man, Giirrrllly maaaan!~" it went just before fading out due to the distance.
 
Sam blinked in confusion as she heard "GIRLY MAN" doppling towards her down the hall. The sound was shortly followed by a small girl almost barrelling into her legs. She was able to avoid getting bowled over, but she did bend and put her hands on Carina's shoulders, smirking.

"Careful, y'little ankle-biter. You might fall."
 
Carina had been continuing to chant the little mantra as she kept running down the hall. Even though she wasn't afraid of him, she knew full well he was still bigger then she was, and could easily have gotten the upper hand. The little girl looked over her shoulder once to see if the MC was following in hot pursuit only to feel a set of hands on her shoulders and coming to a rather abrupt halt.

The young girl emitted a little squeak of surprise at all this, including what she'd heard from who those hands were attached to. Whipping her head about, the kid saw it was the other somewhat girlish man she'd seen in the medical bay wrestling with Suku before the doctor had brought out her trusty hypolathe.

After a moment of simply staring up at Sam, lips pursed, eyes defiant, her visage softened. "Who you callin'a ankle-biter, ya' stranger." she opted, not even knowing Sam's name. So really, what was there to go on?
 
Sam took one of her hands from Carina's shoulders and poked her gently in the belly, unable to keep herself from smiling a little. She's much nicer than her mother. The other hand ruffled up Carina's hair.

"You, rugrat. I'm Sam. Who're you?"
 
Carina's hands immediately went up to her hair trying to smooth it down again. For some reason...it seemed every marine on the ship liked to ruffle her hair... She returned Sam's smile with an easy smile of her own, if not a little subdued.

"My name's Carina!" she piped out.
 
Alex sat at the table and waited fo Sam. He got stucked with a little girl. Well look at thar. Those two seem quite frienldy. Kinda strange seeing man that shot three rounds into traitor few minutes ago talking to little girl and smiling.

Alexandras smiel widened as she was looking at those tow. It was really nice and funny thing to see. Deadly sniper guy and little cute runt. Alex was kind of curious how it will continue.
 
"Me an' my friend Alex are going to get a drink and some food," Sam told her new little buddy. "You wanna come with us? Shouldn't be runnin' around by yourself anyway, without your momma." Her smile lessened somewhat, though, as she thought of what Suku might do to her if she saw her with the young lady.
 
During the entire exchange between the MC and Carina, Ran just stood there looking a bit off to the side, working on his third cigarette and basically just trying to ignore the situation.

When the "situation" ran away from Fian, the Chief looked at the two of them and displayed a fine shit-eating-grin.

"So. We gonna go and talk to the boys and girls, or what?"
 
Carina looked up at Sam like she was funny before shaking her little head.

"I ain't gotta momma." she said rather plainly but she did nod at the offer. "Yea! Yea! I'm still hungry and thirsty. When those really loud bangs went off I didn' get'ta eat all my food..." Carina seemed somewhat crestfallen at the ration having been left behind when it could've been quite happy in her stomach. Not like there weren't others...or she could just talk to some of the mess hall attendants for something to eat.
 
Sean made his way back to the mess, his mood slightly worse then before. Now he'd managed to lose a meat roll, get yelled at for trying to stay healthy, and someone (he still wasn't sure who it had been) had gone and gotten themselves killed. A small scowl played across his face as he went to find something to drink. Preferably something that would make him feel better, so he wouldn't shoot the next person who talked to him.
 
"I was going to find out just what all the multi-purpose room entailed; a little recreation I thought might do me some good. Open invitation." And if not, Kingston was perfectly alright with shooting hoops or jogging alone. He just needed to vent some pent-up energy.
 
"Hm, this bodes badly for me since there's nowhere to train, unless..." Henry got an idea that would defy so many protocols he would not be able to red tape his way out of it. He snapped his fingers as an impish grin came across his features.

He made his way to the Hangar. Usually, the launch catapults were used to launch armours hot into the battlefield, however, since there wasn't a battle, it wasn't being used.
The Hray also had the good blessing to have atmospheric containment fields. All they stopped from escaping the vessel was air. Things that could fall out of the containment field were powered armours, shuttles, fighters - as well as bullets ands launched pieces of scrap metal.

Henry essentially had a firing range right in front of him, he was looking at it. All he needed was someone to get the ramp powered up, or to get into an armour which had a PPG or PPP function built into it to launch what would become a target.

"Breaking the rules is unusually exciting," Henry noted to himself, "No wonder we're told to follow them."
With that in mind, he pushed six fresh cartridges into the loading gate of his rifle, put it over his back, then, with a bit of tinkering, got the catapult to work.

He'd launch his targets into open space, and the debris would probably only the size of his head, and he assumed that any respectably shielded ship would deflect - all he had to do was run a very light current through the launcher to a low speed of about 20 kilometres an hour - rather than the blistering speeds given to armours.

He then picked up his rifle, and pulled the lever, putting a bullet into position. He just needed an accomplice to man the catapult.
 
"...yeah. Yeah, that was loud." Sam grimaced, remembering the altercation. She hooked her hands under Carina's arms and lifted her easily onto her broad shoulders, sitting her down and wiggling until the small girl settled. Then, Carina on board, she put her hands on the girl's legs to hold her in place and walked over to Alex.
 
Carina accepted the ride on the shoulders like she always did. Really, it saved her from having to walk, and it also meant she was at eye-level with the much taller marines. She rested her hands on top of Sam's shaved noggin' as they walked.

"Do you know what made them sounds?" she asked, hunching forward slightly to bring her head upside down and in front of Sam's face. The little girl wore a look of absolute curiosity on her face as she did so. " 'Cause everyone seemed ta' be grumpy an' stuff."
 
"Well, uh." Sam's head felt prickly to Carina's touch from the stubble of hair just barely growing on it. She crossed her eyes as the child leaned in front of her face and stopped walking for a moment, trying to come up with something to satisfy her curious mind. "There was a crazy lady attackin' Chief Ran. I had to, uh, shoot her to stop her from hurtin' anybody else."
