RP: NSS Acadia [Post Mission 3]: R&R (Rest and Rations)

Carina just seemed to pat Sam on the head before smiling. "Oh, ok!" her response to the answer rather clean cut and simple. She'd been born and raised in some of the roughest parts of the Nepleslian Empire after all so it didn't seem to bug her too much.

"Ya'know..." Carina begin as she righted herself staring down at Sam then. "Miss Suku called Mr.Big Shnoz" her name for Ran. "A pussy for gettin' beat up by'a crazy lady."

Sam continued once her field of vision was clear; she didn't want to risk being run into a third time with potentially disastrous consequences. "I dunno if Chief Ran is a pussy, but your m - uh, Miss Suku is kinda mean to people. She made me have a seizure."

"I remember!" Carina said from her seat atop her seat. She wiggled around slightly to get more comfortable, finally stopping when feeling she had. The little girl remembered that quite well infact, she'd been present when that had happened.

"Miss Suku can get grumpy with everyone, ya'know? An' when people don' leave her be, she get'ser gun an' starts stickin'em with her needles. Sometimes they don' get all twitchy an' stuff... they jus' kinda' hit tha' deck, ya'know?"

"Either way, she don't like me," Sam said, regretfully. "I better not get hurt so I don't have to see her ever. I don't like bein' hurt more in the medbay." She reached her seat next to Alex and sat down, Carina still on her shoulders.

Carina looked around the mess hall as she stayed on Sam's shoulders, looking at the buffet area where trays and trays of food was still steaming hot.

"But who'll make'ya all better an' stuff if you do get hurt?" she asked from her seat, suddenly looking down at Sam.

Sam picked up one of the remaining wings from her ration pack and chewed on it, offering another up to Carina. Luckily, she didn't notice that some were missing. "I dunno. I just won't get hurt, ever. Or Alex can sew me back together."

Carina just shook her head at the wing pushed at Sam's hand a little to let her know she didn't want it. She didn't really understand how someone could not get hurt ever, in her mind, you'd always get hurt, somehow, some way. After all, she always did. Another moment's hesitation went by, and she finally just gave in.

The little girl slipped off Sam's shoulders, sliding down her back a little ways before running off on little legs towards the lunch line. She did however give the marine a reassuring smile before departing, as if letting her know she'd be back.

Sam watched Carina go with a small pang of fondness. She liked the young girl, and she awakened familiar feelings inside her - though they weren't entirely familiar, since all six of her siblings had been elder brothers, instead of younger sisters. Still, she felt protective towards the girl. When her tiny figure vanished into the line, the marine returned to her wings and coleslaw, munching away.

It didn't take long for Carina to soon return with her own tray of food. She had to duck and weave her way through the crowd, a wobbling cup on her tray, three sizes too large for her balanced on it as well weighing it down. When the little girl returned with it, she looked as if it was taking effort to even hold up, which, was understandable considering she'd just ran away from both Suku, and the Master Chief back to back.

Panting a little, she hefted the tray on to the table next to Sam, whatever it was she had covered by a huge napkin, and even a few sides seemed covered. The young Sanroma soon climbed up onto the seat, sitting her self with a little plop before yanking the napkin off the centerpiece of the tray, revealing a rather large sandwich, toasted, the savory scent of roast beef wafting up causing her to lick her lips.

Carina did however spare Sam a brief glance, wearing a little sheepish smile as she did so. Unbeknown to Sam however... the same attendant Rico had flirted with earlier in the week had been on duty and had remembered the girl and decided to dote on her a little bit. She took the covers off the other items revealing pudding of some sort, a pickle, and even a little bowl of what appeared to be potato gratin. The cup, it seemed contained a substantial sum of juice ice cold as evidence of the condensation forming on the side of the cup.

Once she got back to her food however, she soon was attempting to lift the large sandwich up in little hands, mouth wide and barely struggling with it as she took a bite.

Sam smiled warmly at her little friend as she returned, brushing off the seat before she sat in it. "Looks good," the marine noted approvingly. "Healthy for a growin' girl. ...needs more meat, though."

As Carina struggled with the sandwich, though, she grinned and plucked it from the girl's small hands. She pulled the treat carefully into rough quarters, then put them in a little stack on the girl's tray. "There, now it ain't so big. You look too tired t'handle all that at once. Didn't get enough sleep?"

Carina looked at her empty hands a moment before realizing Sam had taken her sandwich from her. But, before she could even contemplating making little grabby hands at it she saw the intent and resisted the urge to do so. When everything was said and done though, Carina took one of the smaller pieces and promptly made it disappeared chewing appreciatively as she shook her head at Sam's question.

"Na'....I slept good...I jus' was runnin'." she said before eying the cup deciding to omit the fact she'd been running from both Suku and Fian Vel Steyr. How she even managed to drink out of the thing was a mystery but she did it. The little girl smacked her lips, the juice, being somewhat tart.

Sam tossed her wing-bones in the nearby trashcan one by one, not missing any of her shots. She produced the bottle of whiskey from her rations and took a small sip as she watched Carina with a smile. "Y'should take a nap after you eat. It'll be good for you... can't have you runnin' around all sleepyheaded."

Alex smiled while both big sniper and little girls sat next her. She was not interupting their conversation. Instead of that she focused on finishing her meal and listening. It was really nice listening to those two. It was quite different from conversation that other marines head. Those were normally either about sex, drinking or both at once. And Alex was really curious where those marines foudn sex on this ship.

Alex didn't take part in conversation. She only said "I will ceratinly do my best," whan Sam talked about her sewing him together. But she is no doctor so there is only so much she can do.

She finished her grub and took out a little bottle of whiskey. She was looking at for a while. Then she opened and smelled it. It was interesting. Alex was kinda hesitating. This will be first time she will ever drink alcohol. Before having a first sip she actually did partake mroe largely in coverstion saying, "well actually it is not that healthy going to sleep with full stomach, but I think it won't be bad once in a while. Sleeping is good for you so it will even it out." Then she smiled like always.

Phaedra watched as Harrison rummaged through more ration packs for additional whiskey while she continued to sip at her bottle. Her mind felt a little cloudly, which Phaedra welcomed considering what she just witnessed. Still, part of her hated the fact that she had showed such a moment of weakness. But liquor quickly made such worries vanish.

Phaedra had managed to drink her way to the bottom of her small whiskey bottle. Unfortunately, she forgot that she was drinking on an empty stomach and that she has a very low alcohol tolerance. These two factors caused an unexpected thud, which arrived from Phaedra's head hitting the table. She peacefully sat slumped over the table, the whiskey bottle still in her right hand. She was lost in a restful oblivion, and was content to stay so for the time being.

Edward walked through the canteen holding a steaming tray of beef & potato stew with green beans, he was rather disappointed with the hot-sauce & the green beans but rations were rations he supposed. As he sat down to eat a familiar voice floated over his head, the medic from earlier was sitting down with a little girl and another female marine. Silently he paused in his chewing and fished around in his pocket and pulled out the sketch he had finished.
Edward finished his mouthful, standing he drifted over and dropped it in front of Alex, softly saying "you dropped this earlier miss alex."
then returned quickly to his seat, digging into his stew. Silently he contemplated why he did that, maybe it had been too long since someone had appreciated his drawings.

Carina looked up from her sandwich at the pair, both first Sam, then Alex and back to her food. Going to bed with a full stomach usually gave her bad dreams, which she didn't much care for... The little girl shook her head, both at the mentions of sleep, and at what she was thinking.

"Na', 'cause then I won' sleep when it's bedtime. An' Miss Suku'll be cranky. 'sides I have them bad dreams when I do that."

"Al-right then." Sam smirked and rubbed a hand on Carina's back, then pat her gently a few times. "Just be careful, kid." She blinked as a strange man showed up and deposited something in front of Alex, who had been quiet save for some sage advice now and then. She looked over to the medic. "Who was that guy?"

Rico sighed with relief as he watched Carina go, apparently having no major issues with her leaving with strange men with strangely woman-like figures. The sergeant turned back to Fian as the little girl disappeared from sight.

"Found her during evacuation back on Nepleslia," Rico lied expertly, doing his best to sound as serious as he could. "Her folks were killed in some of the initial fightin', and we weren't able to secure transport to a safe zone with some a' my family. Turns out, my folks are on Prime now, out a' harms way. I'm takin' her to 'em first chance I get... battleship's no place for a kid like that."

By the time the new stranger had come and gone, Carina had been digging into the gratin just as Sam rubbed at her back and a few pats afterward. The girl looked up, spoon in her mouth at the pair. In truth she'd not paid Edward any mind, focusing instead on her food which, she might have added was damned good and a sight better then the ration cans.

When Sam had asked her question though, Carina also shared some of the other's curiosity.

Alex looked at piece of paper that emerged in front of her. It was the sketch Eddie drew before. She looked at the marine adn noded. "Thank you, also stop already with the miss, would you?" She said to him.

He then went back to finish his meal while she was looking at the picture. Then Sam asked a question so she looked at him. "His name is Edward. He helped me out once when we got back from Rok'Veru. He is a fine lad I might add. Met him again earliar today. He is also pretty good artist." She replied and put the piece of paper in front of Sam and Carina so they could see. "Although I can't seem to find a reason why would he draw me." She added with a little confused voice.
