"Carver. I'll keep that in mind," Werlein responded when he spotted Gideon with his hand raised.
"Yes trooper?" Werlein asked the tank commander who responded with, "Do we know of any hostages in the outpost?"
"Fortunately, most of the survivors were smart enough to haul ass out of there. Based on reports, these rebels seem to have a "take no prisoners" policy. That's perfectly fine in my book. If anything it just gives us the motivation to hammer them harder," Werlein answered as some of the marines chuckled. Werlein then turned to Egwene and said, "I'll trust that my boys and girls in green will take care of the anti-tank guns. Also, don't turn this into a competition now, otherwise my men might kill each other trying to get the most points."
This lead to some more voracious laughter that subsided faster than one could say "artillery".
"Any other questions?" Werlein asked.
Silence followed and after a few moments, Werlein's face turned serious and he said, "Alright, due to the presence of AA guns Command has forbidden us from utilizing aircraft. It will be a combined arms assault with two Maximus battle tanks as support, Hector's Bus and Iron Shell. Now get to the armory and gear up. Be ready to roll out within the hour! Move it soldiers!"
The participating platoons as well as Sydney and his fellow crewmen raced off to the armory to stock up. As soon as they were in the building, Sydney and his three friends were met with the cool air of the AC units. The chilly breeze washed over them like an icy ocean as they reached the armory and selected sidearms for defense should Hector's Bus get disabled and they have to abandon it. Sydney and Wallace opted for Styrling Silver Specials, Blake selected an ESG, and Gideon picked out an HHG.
