"Okay...?" Irim said, "I don't really see the issue...but I will send someone to follow up on it," the Taisho said, making some sort of head gesture to her yeoman who jotted down notes. "I am sure there are some...nuances. Good night, 1SF out." She then made a "beheading" hand gesture and the transmission was cut off abruptly.

The bridge was abnormally quiet for a brief moment and then Captain Aoba said, "Let's take this to my office," he said, pointing at it with a knife-hand.

"Sir," Mia said. "Permission to accompany you?"

"Granted," Aoba nodded.

On way to meet Planetary Governor

Thad was walking along side Mochi as they walked along. He would from time to time look behind to see that Sanda was still there. He was curious why she lagged behind but maybe she just needed some alone time. The crew had been spending much time together which can be stressful. He could relate having to deal with Mia all the time. She was a lot of fun but damn did she cause him to grow grey hair.

"So Mochi, what kind of person do you think the governor will be like." He asked in low voice.

Lenna moves back some and pulls up her compad and starts to punch at the small buttons on the bottom, Then nods to herself and then looks back toward Zeck " you going to join us, or stay here and finish up work?" Then looking at Nikicon already know her choice then back toward Mochi before her. " I have sent the message and awaiting a response. If you want to we can start to make our way over to Laughing Nonapus its the place that The Baroness does most of her business."

Baroness,
I have run across a crew from Yamatai seeking your time to get some questions about the local space, I Do not know what they are looking for nor do I know this part of space that well just yet. Zeck suggested that they ask You if you might know about something called Machine planets or moons. We are heading to the Laughing Nonapus.

Fuji, Lenna

"I come with, i better than stay here." The red skinned alien said and moves to stand beside Lenna. "I sure Soon broke something, Soon always break something and call Zeck." The red skinned alien said an shrugged. "Soon say something about lay pipe but have no pipe around." Zeck checked her gear.

The officer smiled and nodded to Lenna's request - "Absolutely, we may as well start walking over now."

Mochi whistled lightly as they walked, seeming to talk all this in his stride. At Thad's question, he paused for a moment and replied in a similar tone. "Politicians are usually unforgiving people. They tend to get to their positions by guile and intrigue, so keep your wits about you." The Elysian cautioned his fellow crewmember, wings batting gently this way and that. The scientist seemed not to glance back like Thad, and he reached over to pat him on the back. "Just don't say anything too incendiary and you'll be alright. It might be a good chance for you to earn some trust from Sanda, mhm?"

The Laughing Nonapus

Named for a Kuvexian culinary delicacy served on the premises, the Lauging Nonapus was, on the surface, an unassuming dome like most of the others in the colony. A pair of doormen in gold armor and a bored-looking valet for those few who require parking, Kuvexians all three, occupied the front.

Del and Kinie would have made it a little before the group on foot.

The doormen simply nodded to the pair of NMX Nekos, fellow colony security.

"Yeah," said Ruru, "We aren't going in with you. Have fun. She's probably hanging out on the bottom floor. It's more or less her office. Gets more high class the deeper you go."

"And smaller," added Nara. "You kitties look us up when you're done!"

"Oh you're not coming in? Is she that scary?" Delmia asked the two Neko. "What's the dress code?"

"Clothes, I guess?" Ruru shrugged. "It's just not our kind of place. We do our own thing."

"Yeah..." added Nara.

When the other group of Yamataians approached, the valet looked up, saw no one had vehicles in need of parking, and quickly lost interest, going back to his volumetric puzzle game as he leaned languidly against the valet kiosk beneath the hanging heater.

"Captain." One of the guards nodded first at Lenna. "Zeck!"

"Zeck!" the other exclaimed as well. It seems the doormen were quite happy to see her. "Are these the Yamataians?" He leaned forward, "I thought the one guy had a L'Kor standing behind him at first."

They would allow the group to pass without incident, but the NMX mercenaries that escorted Del and Kinie had other plans. "Hey, there!" Nara called out. "Hey Zeck! Looks like you found the rest of them. Hey, Yamalams! They went inside!"

Ruru just grinned and shook her head. "What is it you Angel-dudes say? Abandon all hope, ye who enter here?"

"Yes i Zeck, and yes these are the Yams. No idea why named after potato it odd." Zeck said. "Is boss lady in and did she get pipe finally?" She asked and looked between the two.

The pair just looked at each other blankly for a moment, then shrugged in unison. "You're so funny, Zeck!" Nara laughed.

Mochi exchanged glances with his fellow crew members, wondering what 'kind of place' this might be if their escorts were so hesitant to enter. "Angels?" He chuckled, "My, I haven't heard that one in a long time." As the Kuvexians stood aside, he would gesture to the others to come in with him and nodded his thanks to the doormen as they went further inside.

Yayoi remained silent, her emotions controlled, as she was unsure whether they were being rude or not. She assumed they were sure that they knew they were Yamataians, though she was unsure what Zeck meant by getting pipe, and wondered if there was a drainage issue.

Delmira moved over to Mochi. "Well glad someone with diplomatic skills is here." She said and looked up at the taller man. "Kinie was given point on this one but I think you are best suited for this job, I may also have leverage in case Soon proves to be stubborn. Just hope I don't get into trouble with Yugumo corp."

"I am willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish the mission," Kinie said with a serious expression.

"Yugumo?" Mochi asked with a raised eyebrow, "Why would you get into trouble with them?" However, after he recognised her compliment the Elysian smiled. "Skills may be a little generous but I appreciate the vote of confidence!"

"Yes well I may be a Yugumo corp spokesperson and can thus sell weapons and equipment" She turned to Kinie and put a hand facing flat palm out as she made the gesture for “sorry” to Kinie.

Yayoi glanced over "I've heard of them" She said in comment about Yugumo, and silently glanced around, keeping her hetero chromia eyes out for danger or trouble.

Mochi gave Delmira a dismissive wave of the hand, "Don't mix civilian things with SAOY business, trust me. That's a can of worms that isn't worth opening." With Kinie's comment, the Elysian gave her an odd look, "Well, let's keep as cool as we can, mhm?"

"You follow Zeck to see Soon yes? I bring you down, Zeck need to see boss lady too." Zeck said, looking for Lenna and Nikicon who seemed to have run off.

The science officer clapped his hands gently at Zeck's confirmation. "Sounds good!"

The first level of the Laughing Nonapus was the largest, and least exclusive. Rather than a dive bar, it was a very disappointingly mediocre bar and grill of the most obnoxiously generic sort. Most of the clientele were lower-caste Kuvexians and some Ehlen laborers, with the occasional Human or L'Kor. The level below was only barely noticeably better, and was significantly smaller. More of the same sort of place, one market segment higher. The sort of place the regulars of the first level would take their dates. The spiraling ramp continued downwards, with a sort of portal at the threshold of each layer. Third, more of the same, incrementally better.

The fourth is where things started to get interesting. The strange, lanky, blue folk who looked somewhat like a human cosplaying a Kuvexian began to make an appearance, and became more numerous on the floor below, as did the Elefirn. The Kuvexians on the fifth and sixth levels were starting to look quite wealthy indeed. For there to be three or four beyond this must truly be the elite of this colony's society.

It wasn't until the portal between the eighth and ninth levels that there was anyone checking to make sure anyone trying to go below belonged there. A particularly well-dressed, snooty, and skinny example of one of the not-quite-Kuvexian blue folk sat on a stool behind a podium, flicking through a volumetric display.

"I make introduction , yes? Maybe boss lady will be nicer." Zeck said before the group reached the foot of the stairs to the lower level Zeck made sure to tell the guards that the guests were with her when it was needed. Her nervous toothy grin was plastered on her face but she felt a surge of excitement like she was a mobster in those shows they like to show on TV.

Delmira Followed behind the group pulling rear security just in case anyone tried to do something. She didn't quite have her hand in her jacket but she was close to it. ready to pull her concealed weapon and use it if needed. Her eyes constantly moved, checking people out for weapons and posture and if they were acting strange. Well they were in a Kuvexian bar. Everyone was strange here as far as she knew.

Yayoi simply remained silent as she followed the group. She glanced at Sanda a few times to make sure she was doing ok as they went. She remembered that with a twitch of her wrists her hidden blades will come out ready to be used, the cloth was comfortable and soft though.

"Great idea, an introduction would be handy to get things started!" Mochi accepted the offer cheerily, being very conscious to not come off as overly cautious or reserved. That's why Del, Yayoi and Sanda were here. Thad too, although he was more like the kid you bring along to show something educational too. Or eye candy. Maybe the Baroness would take a liking to him, who knew? Between him and Kinie running up the front - if she wanted to - they should be able to get through this unscathed. Of course, it all came down to what the Baroness herself wanted to do. Yamataians could be useful hostages, but then again the nation was known for taking more.. direct.. approaches to diplomacy than others. 'Gunship diplomacy' of the Yui variety.

The well-coiffed, well-manicured, tailored-clothing-wearing receptionist just disinterestedly waved the group through.

THE BOTTOM FLOOR

"Soon!" Zeck said as she entered the room and handed her crowbar and tool box to a guard who looked confused. "I bring guests, they are Yamataians how you say star army. They come looking for information about world made of machines a uh machine world i think it called." The red skinned alien approached closer to the blue woman, her toothy grin on her face and heart beating a mile a minute.

At the large, round table in an alcove opposite the entrance that served as Baroness Soon Bardoon's office, sat, predictably, the Baroness herself. The eighth floor had been the last floor that was an ordinary restaurant and bar, a sort of fine-dining-establishment-meets-exclusive-nightclub vibe. This one, while it had all the trappings of an intimate supper club, was occupied primarily by Soon and her associates. There was no singer on stage, nor a bartender behind the bar.

After a moment spent dictating something to a well-dressed Kuvexian assistant, Soon Bardoon looked up. "Ah, Zeck. Always a pleasure. I see this is the crew of the... Resurgence? I haven't heard a thing from Yamatai since the IRC. And nothing at all about my terms for treaty. Yet, here you are, apparently needing help from me. I thank you for your assistance with the invasion, and am thusly indebted, but it wouldn't hurt you to call from time to time, no?"

The Baroness was still, for the most part, recognizable as Kuvexian. However, she'd undergone extensive genemodding and other augmentation to better endure the frigid environment of UX-3 III. Much of those genes came from humans. More body fat for insulation thickened her form and softened her face. Her human-like nose was somewhat large and aquiline, not unlike the stereotypical Patrician one, all the better to breathe in the cold atmosphere. Her skin was still blue, but a warmer shade, and the main tell she was even a Kuvexian at all were the double-ears.

Yayoi remained silent throughout the conversation, choosing to leave it to Mochi to talk. She'd remembered the IRC, sampling NDC food and treats, as well as those of other nations.

Delmira will move into the room taking up the rear and stand off to the side of the entrance. She scanned the room taking note of everything.

Zeck meanwhile stood off to the side to Soon. She wasn't sure where to stand or sit in all honesty.

Mochi realized once the Kuvexian mentioned the Resurgence that she must be the woman they were looking for. Respectfully, he executed a crisp Elysian salute in greeting, extending his wings back and placing a hand over his heart. "A pleasure to meet you, Baroness Soon. Apologies if our nation has not been in more regular contact - the business of foreign affairs is conducted by the Premier - which is sadly beyond our purview." He explained with an apologetic tone. "We've been very impressed inside your.." Mochi recalled back to his knowledge of the NDC's system of government that used similar titles, finishing, "Barony." The blonde scientist gave her a flashing smile, "It's certainly a very vibrant and prosperous place." Mochi rubbed his palms together slowly, thinking over his words, "We were hoping you'd be able to indulge us in some local knowledge, perchance, of this part of space?"

Nodding to one of her flunkies, who immediately left the room, then to another who immediately went to the bar and began preparing a complicated drink, Soon then pursed her lips and laced her fingers to support her chin. "It's coming along, I suppose," she mused, deflecting the compliment. "Quallox Vaibal started taking development more seriously after the invasion and increased my budget significantly."

The assistant returned to her with the drink and Soon took a sip. She paused a beat, then narrowed her eyes. With a nervous twitch and fearfully blank expression, the assistant took the drink back and scuttled back to the bar.

"What sort of knowledge about space? Zeck here said something about a machine planet? Is that supposed to be some kind of joke? I think Yamatai knows full well where the Essai are." She slapped the drink out of the assistant's hand without tasting it when she returned again, glare fixed on Iemochi's eyes, never breaking contact or even blinking.

"Not the Essai, Baroness." Mochi corrected, gesturing with open body language. "We're looking for other planets. Ones that are covered by machine hiveminds, or similar such hazards. Or dead worlds which once had some kind of 'grey goo' catastrophe. That kind of thing." The Elysian's beautiful wings spread out a little more, "We know of a lot from Yamatai's intelligence, but we know little about this area of space." The emerald-eyed man added, "I'm sure your assistance would help with furthering relations."

Yayoi glanced from Mochi to the Baroness and back again, though certain that she needn't worry about attacks, it was comforting to her to keep an eye on things

Leaning back in her padded chair and heavily resting on its arms, the Baroness finally seemed to breathe and blink once more. "I see. Well, indebted or not, that's not the sort of thing that comes without cost. In Kuvexia we have a saying, 'Friends never ask for freebies,' if you understand?"

She didn't wait long before looking around herself then turning to scream at the assistant, "WHERE IS MY DRINK?"

Mochi rubbed his chin for a moment, considering what they had to offer that she might want. Nothing much came to mind - Kuvexia was as advanced a civilisation as Yamatai. "Usually debts can be called in, at least in part. But I respect what you're saying, Baroness. Does anything come to mind that you would like in exchange?"

Zeck perked up a bit and lightly touched Soon's shoulder before leaning in. "Red haired neko said something about selling Yugumo corp stuff." She whispered into the blue woman's ear.

"Well, I certainly need to have my terms answered with expedition." Soon patted Zeck's hand on her own. "Yugumo? That's the one owned by the family that... that Baron Kordoon is always getting mixed up with? I suppose anyone who hates Gello Kordoon is someone I can work with. I can't imagine what I'd need."

"And as for cost, if you can't help me with the treaty terms or at least some response," Soon turned her attention back to Iemochi, "Currency isn't something I'd ever refuse."

Zeck will stand up and move back to where she was.

Delmira cranked her head around real fast to face Soon and Zeck. Shit this wasn't quite how she wanted this to play out so soon. She remained alert however and her hand drifted to her coat again.

The Elysian grimaced slightly at the mention of treaty terms. In truth, that was something between the Premier and these Kuvexians. The Star Army couldn't technically throw its weight into that field without there being some kind of backlash, even if it could help with a mission - the constitution was clear on that. He could bring up the fact he was a Senator, which gave him a more direct line to speak on behalf of the government, but he wasn't on good terms with Katsuko and that could go very badly. Not only that, even mentioning it inside the Resurgence was against regulations.

"Currency." He relented, crossing his arms and nodding. "Very well. That is something we can certainly spare. Of course, we want to make sure that we get our money's worth. How many of these kinds of planets do you know about, Baroness?" Internally, Mochi sent a quick telepathic message to Koyama, 'Heya, how much money are we allowed to spend to get the intel we need~?'

"How many do I, Baroness Soon Bardoon, personally know about? No, no, no. You're buying the data set and you can sort through it yourselves. You don't want to pay what I'd ask for doing that myself, and I wouldn't want to have to say no to that money even if you did." The Baroness finally got her drink, and, much to her assistant's relief, didn't throw it at her head.

«Ahh, we don't have anything authorized that I know of, I'd need to ask the Captain. He's in a meeting right now,» Koyama replied.

Mochi thought back to his training from the Accelerated Officer Programme. Nothing in relation to exchanging money for military advantage had come up. However, it seemed like something that must have come up at least once before this. Who was best to call? Was there a department of operational expenses? If there wasn't this kind of thing, it would be worth messaging his sister about it - she'd surely know.

"Very well. We have our own analysts. How much KS is your asking price for the data?" The Elysian made a snap decision. Aoba had made it clear that this was vital to their mission, and he was the only officer here to further that goal. What were a few KS to the Star Army?

"Asking price? That's hardly any fun!" Soon beckoned to one of her quieter, more studious-looking assistants, and whispered in her ear, getting one back in response.

"I'm going to say there's at least two planets in the set that fit the general description. Maybe more. We didn't exactly spend more than the last two minutes looking."

The civvie-clothed science officer grinned, "Bartering, then?" At the mention of at least two potential targets, he ran some potential figures through his mind. The cost of several items the Star Army would usually quantify costs in. A Plumeria. A Fuji. A Mindy. He'd have to see what Soon would start with.

"Team, Aoba here," the away team heard in their heads. "Tell her I'm offering ten million KS, double if it results in us successfully landing on a planet that meets the description."

Delmira nearly had a heart attack when she heard those numbers. Man the places she could visit and take Kinie to with that kind of money. She kept a straight face however chewing on the inside of her cheek slightly

Mochi glanced at the others and gently waved his hand towards the ground, indicating for them to mask the fact they just received a transmission. There was no need for the Star Army to spend more than it needed. No doubt they'd get a commendation if they came back with a few million spare rather than emptying the bank.

Back on the Resurgence

With certain parts of the crew coming back, Nalini started making some cookies for their return. Thankfully, the situation with Irim wasn't resulting in something terrible happening. Which was always a risk with the Taisho. She put out the variety of cookies for the crew to munch on when they returned.

Tachiko refilled her cup from the carafes that Mia had left behind. "Commander, both parties have reached the Laughing Nonapus, and have entered. Kawa and Lulie arrived first. It seems like their... new friends refused to enter the building."

Koyama nodded in acknowledgement, then shot a concerned glance back towards the Captain's office. "Let me know if this... Nonapus building interferes with communications. Belmont's report from the Kōun's initial contact says it's nine stories underground."

Shuttle Bay

Given the circumstances, Chiasa had cleaned up as best she could.

The tiny Nekovalkyrja offered Thia a coy smile as she finished fixing her hair and adjusting her uniform—her second of the day after ruining her first one. Then, with a deep breath, she picked up her bags and glanced back to the Counselor, content to let her lead the way into the Resurgence. Of course, she had no idea that the CMO was likely being chewed out by the captain at that exact moment, which given the circumstances might make for an interesting arrival!

Thia reached into her pack to pull out a tiny vial of an amber liquid, which she opened and dabbed on her wrist before putting it away and setting her pack down. "Want some perfume, honey?" Thia asked as she rubbed her wrists together, then started rubbing her wrists behind her ears like a cat grooming itself. Seeing that Chiasa was already well on her way, Thia debated for a moment hanging back and playing it cool, before deciding against it, slinging her pack on her shoulder and double-timing to catch up.

"I don't smell that bad, do I?" Chiasa replied, giggling as she did. "But, you know...just in case!" She added with a smile, before accepting the offered vial and spritzing some on her neck and wrists.

"You smell delicious," Thia replied, her voice almost a purr. "You might want to smell like something else, is all."

Chiasa blushed. "Thank you~" She purred back, before handing the vial back to the Counselor. Then, Chiasa followed Thia out of the shuttle and into the bay of the Resurgence.

"Where's the CMO?"

The military police officer who had quietly rode the shuttle with Chiasa and Thia didn't say anything, he just quietly went to go meet with the captain.

Thia gave the MP a sly side-eye before she replied to Chiasa. "In the med bay, I assume," Thia said with a grin. "I suppose you have the floor plans in mind, want to lead the way?"

"Kuso." Chiasa swore under her breath. "I thought we were alone in there?" She whispered.

"Well, live and learn," Thia said with a quiet chuckle. "Let's find Vec."

Thia's cybernetic eye flashed then dimmed to a steady glow as she recalled the deck plans she'd studied earlier, after a moment her eye went back to normal and she nodded in the direction of the ship's lift. "This way."

Chiasa followed the Counselor, her features flush with crimson as she did. "I'm going to put my bags up in my assigned room and...I guess, just report to the med bay." She said, "I'll see you in a bit!"

Hopefully not in the brig, the tiny Nekovalkyrja thought to herself.

"See you soon, honey," Thia offered Chiasa a wink as she made her way to the med bay.

Aoba's Office

Aoba's office was a stately place, uncluttered and immaculately clean, with a display of ancient samurai armor and swords in one corner and a library of leather bound books in another. He sat at an elaborate red laquered desk with inlaid gold featuring scenes of Yamataian fishing villages and intricately carved dragons curled into columns making up the desk's corners and feet.

"Chui Vec Wilson reporting as ordered, Sir," Vec said as he entered the office, face grim.

"Take a seat," Aoba said, offering Wilson a chair. Mia took her seat in the other one.

Vec approached with the air of a stray being offered food. Still dressed in his ratty old Synththrash shirt the CMO stood out like a sore thumb among the luxury.

"I'd like you to explain what it is you think you're doing," captain Aoba told Vec. "I'm not talking about Mia's suicide attempt or Poppy's failure to prevent it, I'm talking about what you are doing. What is your motivation here?"

"I'm a doctor, sir," Vec replied, searching the man's face for extra meaning. "I don't know what you mean."

"Okay, so here's what I'm saying. What do you see as the outcome of this? Is anyone going to benefit from what you're doing? Is Mia? Is my ship going to benefit? Are you? What I'm asking in terms of motivation is what are you trying to accomplish?" captain Aoba questioned. "Would you like my opinion?"

"I'm pretty sure my career's in the trash, sir," Vec said, sitting with a stiff back. "I rarely think of my actions in terms of my career. I do believe Mia deserved more of a say in her own life. Beyond that, I just believe our role as medical professionals isn't to make decisions for other people."

Mia frowned, and looked over to Vec. She looked into his eyes as if searching for some meaning. "You could have just talked to me, asked me what I thought," she said. "I'm sick of being disrespected by this crew just because I drink and have sex. Everyone on this ship drinks and has sex, well except you sir," she added, looking to Aoba for a moment. "Anyway, Poppy was the only one there for me. She's my friend. I refuse to testify against her."

Vec sighed. Being a surgeon was much simpler than this general practice stuff. He paused considering his words. How much does she know? At this point, is it right for me to even tell her? "You don't deserve to be disrespected or disregarded, Mia," Vec said. "I apologize if I've added to that."

"Here's my opinion,'' Captain Aoba said. "Nothing good can come up dragging up this matter. It doesn't help you, it doesn't help me, it certainly doesn't help Poppy, and it doesn't help the crew. It doesn't help the fleet, and it doesn't help the Star Army or the Empire. Before taking action you should consider the cost and benefits, and what the results are going to be. Furthermore, I think you moved without all the facts. We've already done an investigation on this, which was closed, before you set foot on the ship, and Poppy was cleared at the time. Nor did you speak with Mia. Instead you went off like a bull in a China shop. You embarrassed me and the ship in front of the admiral. You embarrassed yourself."

Always moving forward, Vec thought. He felt a sort of kinship for the man. He hated it. "I weigh the benefits for my patients, sir. But you are right, I did act without considering," Vec said, straining to keep his face blank. Legality, morality, ethics. All so blurry. He wanted to snap, Did Poppy ask her what Mia wanted? Is embarrassment all you care about?

Just then the door chime rang. "Police officer," a male voice said.

"Come," Aoba said

An older Nepleslian man dressed in a wrinkled dark blue paneled Type 35 jacket stepped in, looking down at his communicator and then looked up at everybody. "Right...I'm Taii Leonardo DiPozzuoli, from the First Fleet investigations division. Can I get everyone's names? It's for the recording."

"Chui Vec Wilson," Vec said mechanically. Maybe the Captain was right, what had he wanted? Some vague sense of righting wrongs. Not get shot in the back of the head at least. He was still alive for the moment.

"Chusa Aoba Kuranosuke," the captain said. "Commanding officer, YSS Resurgence."

"Mia Fuckin' Barber," Mia frowned. Aoba shot her a disapproving look.

"Right..." the detective said, reaching for a cigar and then stopping abruptly and going back to work. "So who's the victim and who's the accused?" he began.

"Complicated, sir," Vec said. "I have come to believe that this issue is for SAMA personnel to handle."

"So..." DiPozzuoli said, "There's...no crime? You hauled me out here for nothin'?"

"Again, that's complicated, sir. I would ask you to review the recordings and decide for yourself, I'm a medical expert not a criminal one," Vec's voice was flat. He wondered how this man responded to domestic disputes.

"Right..." the detective said. "Already done," he added. "Well, is the coffee on this ship any good?" he laughed. "Maybe some food? It's gonna be a long shuttle ride home."

Aoba's serious face turned into a rare grin. "Our cook has Italian heritage and bakes a great stromboli," he told the MP.

"Now you're speaking my language!" DiPozzuoli grinned, shaking Aoba's hand vigorously.

"Coffee's almost as good as mine, sir," Vec said, coffee talk being one of the few things that could break through his sour mood.

Mia looked at Vec. "I make coffee for a living," she boasted. "I'll get you some if we put this all behind us," she offered, not really expecting him to agree.

"It's about the beans, kid, gotta select good beans," Vec let himself get drawn into the conversation. Anything was better than the non stop ride this day had become.

"Good, because if I have to sit through any more of this I'll blow my brains out," Mia joked.

"I'll see myself to the galley," detective DiPozzuoli said, ducking out of Aoba's office/cabin. "Great group of people," he said to himself with a laugh.

Aoba's palm and face connected. "It's a serious topic and I'd like it treated with respect in the future," he said. "Do you understand? No jokes about it. That goes for everyone."

"Yes sir," Mia nodded. "Sometimes using humor is all I got..." she explained.

Vec simply gritted his teeth making a mental note to recommend her to that new counselor whenever she arrived. When does she arrive? "I'd never think of it, sir," Vec said.

"Maybe smooth things over with Poppy," Aoba suggested to Vec. "You'll have to work together."

"I'll do what I can, sir," Vec said. He still didn't fully trust the woman, but the Captain was right. They were both still assigned to the ship, and she was popular with some members of the crew.

"Go ahead and get that coffee," Aoba told Mia, who left the office. "Vec, one more thing," he said, waiting until they were alone before continuing. "Why don't you do your own little investigation on Mia's readiness to serve?" he suggested. "I'm worried about her ability to perform to standard."

"Understood, sir, as soon as Counselor Keslie touches down, I'll brief her," Vec responded.

"Very good," Aoba nodded. "Let's work on better communication in the future. Perhaps less red phones, please. Dismissed."

"Thank you, sir," Vec said standing and snapping off a sharp salute in stark contrast with his ratty civvies. As he left, he turned again and said, "Again, I am sorry that this got out of hand."

"I can take embarrassment, it's Poppy who needs an apology," Aoba said.

"I still don't approve of her actions, this is still my assessment as a doctor. That said, I don't have any reason to keep her away from duty," Vec said.

"You're the Chief Medical Officer now, so you get to make the tough calls instead of her. If you want to make better ones than she does, you'll have every opportunity. Let's leave the past in the past."

Vec didn't see it as a competition, but he kept his counsel. Instead he was becoming increasingly worried about the similarities between himself and the Captain. He wondered if the man was also a lifer without any family on the outside.

"Dismissed means get out," Aoba said with a sly grin and a cute wave.

"See you in the mess, sir," Vec said, giving the man much less formal salute before leaving.

Mia passed Vec with coffee and offered him a cup without saying anything.

"Maybe later, Mia, I don't drink coffee if I think I'll have to do surgery," he said, hoping he didn't sound dismissive.

Zero G Tubes

Floating alone in Zero G, Vec let out a string of obscenities in a string of languages. He just wanted to sleep and put the day behind him, but he couldn't. Crew were out in the field and the medbay was unstaffed.

He opened a direct comm to Poppy, "Hey, Pink, you're off the bench. Feel free to hate me later, but we've got work to do."

Medical Bay

"Pink, what was the status of those patients?" Tachiko sent over the comm while everyone else was in the Captain's office.

Thia walked into the med bay with her pack still slung over her shoulder. Her cybernetic eye, distinct from her organic one because it was hazel instead of brown, glowed and whirred as she took in the scene. "Hello, is the CMO here?" Thia saw a corpse and someone who seemed to be a prisoner and frowned. "Are there any crew here?"

Chiasa arrived in the medical bay a few moments after Thia, a frown forming across her features as she took in the scene—a green-skinned prisoner in one of the containment cells and the body of massive ID-SOL in another.

"This is highly irregular." Chiasa observed. Regardless, the tiny Nekovalkyrja processed the message that had come over the comm and quickly formulated a response to the communications officer at the other end.

"Santô Hei Ohara Chiasa, reporting." Chiasa began. "Sorry my voice is unfamiliar, I just arrived on the Resurgence with Counselor Thia. We're new arrivals." She continued. "We don't have any patients at this time, but I'm assuming that the corpse of the ID-SOL and the prisoner are in the right place?"

When Chiasa joined her, Thia smiled. "Oh good, I'm a little out of my element here. Unless the person in the cell could use some counseling," Thia looked at the prisoner hopefully. When she heard Chiasa calling out, she waited to hear if there were any further instructions.

"Somebody qualified had better be standing their watch in my medical bay in the next two minutes." The voice over the comms this time was not Tachiko, but the Executive Officer herself.

"You're qualified, aren't you, honey?" Thia asked Chiasa. Deciding that it was likely she'd be here a while, she carried her bag over to what she assumed would be the least-obtrusive corner of the room and set it down on the ground.

"Ketsurui-Taii," Chiasa began, offering a nervous smile towards Thia as she did. A real Ketsurui? Had she been of weaker constitution, she might have fainted. "Sending my assignment orders to you now." She answered. "I'm a new arrival." She repeated. "I apologize for the confusion, but it's just me and Counselor Thia in the medical bay at the moment. I believe that Pink-Heisho and the CMO are indisposed."

Seeing that Chiasa was feeling nervous, Thia walked over and gently started straightening the little neko's hair, hoping it would help calm her as Thia looked around the med bay. She gave the prisoner a smile and a wave with her other hand. This place is interesting already, she thought to herself.

"We could go find them, if that helps?" Thia spoke to the communicator. "This is Counselor Thia. It's wonderful to meet you all, though it's a shame it has to be quite under these circumstances. Chiasa here is a medical specialist. So maybe she could stay here and I could go find one of the others?"

Chiasa didn't feel comfortable talking while she was still on the line with the Executive Officer, so she instead transmitted a digital message to Thia's communicator: Sounds like a plan.

Thia felt her communicator buzz, but she tapped it to pipe it through to her cybernetics, so her words appeared overlaid in front of her vision. Not as elegant as Neko tech, she was sure, but convenient nonetheless.

"Indisposed? Pink, where are you? Report to the medical bay, stat." Koyama once again paged.

Not a bad plan, Thia replied digitally to Chiasa. Her digital interface was primitive Nep tech, so she had to click her jaw in a specific sequence to form the message. But paging her probably works better. I suppose we don't want to leave the bay unattended, after all.

I'll keep watch in the medical bay
, Chiasa flashed back to Thia as the Executive Officer's voice came over the comm. I'll let you know if someone turns up.

Works for me
, Thia sent back. She paused her hand mid-pet on top of Chiasa's head as her cybernetic eye flashed again, recalling the Resurgence's deck plan and a very outdated bunking assignment. Poppy Pink in Cabin 1 with...ginger bug, green bean, and cutie pie. Thia smiled and set off for her new favorite cabin on the whole ship. See you again soon, honey, she sent to Chiasa as she left.

Outside Cabin 1

The deck plan Thia had found hadn't enumerated the cabins, but there were only a couple of decks with enlisted cabins so it didn't take her long to find the one marked Cabin 1. Leaning against the doorway, she knocked gently on the door. "Poppy Pink? Are you in there? I'm Counselor Thia. Are you alright, dear? I believe you're expected in the med bay, if the voice over the intercom is to be believed."

Poppy emerged from her cabin zipping her uniform up. "I'm on my way," she said to basically everyone via wireless and verbally, putting her cotton candy hair back up in her typical ponytail. "I thought I was relieved of duty," she explained, making her way towards the medical lab.

Thia smiled when she saw a teal panel and a proper medical badge. "I was starting to worry about you Pinky, you seem to be the most popular girl on the ship right now. Everyone was wondering where you were," Thia walked with Poppy back towards Medical. "It sounds like you were just unrelieved. I hope that comes as a relief after being relieved." Thia smirked at the confusing wording.

"As long as someone is in there doing their job I don't care who relieved who of what or when. It looks like Wilson is finished with the Captain as well." Koyama abruptly cut the comms much as the Taishō had, her patience for the events of the mission so far clearly at its limits.

Medical Bay (later)

It hadn't been the longest day in his career, but Vec would have prefered protracted gun battles or hiking through enemy territory over Star Army politics. Trudging into the Medlab, he fished out a spare uniform he'd stashed for long shifts and a pack of sanitary wipes.

Poppy stepped in and looked at Vec inquisitively with that pretty face of hers with its high cheekbones and tall, straight nose, and vivid green eyes.

As soon as the CMO entered the medical bay, Chiasa turned back from what she was doing and snapped to attention, her gaze focused straight ahead.

""Santô Hei Ohara Chi-"

"Adease," Vec said before the tiny Neko could finish. "Ah so you're the new pharm tech...trainee," Vec said, forcing a smile, "Sorry for less than organized welcome, we'll do better in the future."

"Medical Specialist right now, Chui." Chiasa clarified as she set herself back at ease. "Medical and Pharmacy Specialist in a few months, hopefully." She added.

Thia walked in shortly after Poppy and spotted an extra person this time, whom she assumed was Vec. She gave him a smile and wave as she listened to them talk. As she waited, she put the backs of her hands on her hips, and adopted a pose that communicated a relaxed interest in her surroundings.

Addressing the other newcomer, "And I'm guessing you're Counselor Keslie, your presence is more than needed here."

"You're guessing correctly, sir," Thia gave him a wicked smile. "I guess you're Vec. Call me Thia."

"Right in one," Vec said, still clutching the wipes and spare uniform. Maybe he'd have to wait to change out of old band shirt.

Thia looked down at the wipes and the spare uniform that Vec was holding. "Are those for me? I can take a shower if you need me to."

Chiasa covered her mouth, but couldn't suppress the soft giggle that slipped out from her lips.

Vec side eyed his coffeepot but decided against it. Mochi, Hoshi, and the others were still out there. No coffee then. "Ok pardon my appearance, but since we're all here, let's go over a quick briefing. Thia, as I said in our SYNCs, we'll put together a list of soldiers who are priorities for counseling. Pink here has worked with some of the crew already. You two need to work together to develop a more official treatment routine. Additionally, I'm adding everybody in this room to the priority list."

"Does Pinky have any training in counseling?" Thia smiled at Poppy, expectantly.

"Nothing special, but she's built a rapport, so I want you to use her as a resource, some of the crew can be a bit... standoffish," Vec explained.

"We get some basic mental health first aid classes but that's about it," Poppy told Thia. "Medic training is primarily focused on lifesaving, stabilizing patients, and hemosynth reconstruction."

"Then I'm happy to take you on as an assistant," Thia said warmly. "But I think I'll use my own discretion when it comes to treatment plans, sir. I don't have any medical training beyond the basics, and as such I'll leave the prescriptions to your discretion."

"Crew well being is a team effort, I don't intend to dictate how you do your job, but we do need to keep on the same page," Vec said fighting a yawn.

"Of course, sir," Thia nodded to Vec, then frowned at his yawn. "You seem like you need some sleep."

"Probaby, but I've got at least another eight hours in me," he said, choosing to return the uniform to its stash and settling for giving his hands and face a good pre surgery scrub down.

Thia nodded again. She wanted to say more, but she didn't think it would help so she kept it to herself until she had a chance to speak with Vec privately. Seeing him start to scrub down, she glanced at her bag still sitting in the corner. "If I'm not presently needed, I'll get settled in my office."

"Get some sleep, Counselor. We've got an away team out. Once they're back I want to start funneling them your way, I want post mission counseling sessions on the reg," the CMO said.

"We're on the same page there," Thia smiled at him before going to retrieve her bag.

Chiasa took the hint, but she wasn't quite sure where the CMO wanted her. "Do you need any assistance, sir or do you want me to get settled in, as well?"

"Ground your gear and report back," Vec said, "Sorry to hold you, but today might be a bit long. When you're back I'll show you around. If you can find a corner in here to nap, you're welcome to it. I plan to do just that."

Honey, Thia sent to Chiasa digitally as she left the room. Be a dear and tell me if Vec shows any signs of fatigue or stress. At least any of which you think I should be aware.

"Thank you, Chui." Chiasa replied with a shallow, informal bow, before setting off towards her quarters.

As Chiasa left, she flashed Thia a quick message: I've left the medical bay to get settled in, but I'll keep you informed!

Vec almost told her not to use his rank, but there was a reason Big Army was a stickler for these things. He was starting to understand.

As soon as he had a brief respite from filling in his new crew, he grabbed his uniforma and wipes, and stepped behind a privacy screen to change.

Being on standby if needed Frank was busy moving his belongings to the new room his was given. Due to when he was a android not really having a proper place to rest escept for in a mechanics bay and something about keeping his drawings and stuff in there is bad tidiness in the bay. as he was moving what little belongings into the room he looked at a stange nest looking thing on one side of the room. "well that's neat, I guess my roommate is going to be a Neko I wonder who." He thought to himself. as he began unpacking his stuff and proceeded to keep drawing. given they had to wear plan clothes on this mission to keep a low profile, if needed Frank was wearing his old flak vest and had his gun arm fully loaded. With the possibility to go to the armor to pick up his personal ordinance in the form of gravity claymore mines.

As he unpacked his drawings and music notes on his side of the room. He took care to place a drawing of a shaowy figure and a skeleton standing on either side of a robotic soldier. looking at the drawing made him chuckle thinking of the old days. as he studied his old drawing. a man with white hair a child with bug like wings. sparking power armor clad woman and a smol girl with a big sword holding a bundled up child. Frank gave a soft smile at the freinds and family he drew out on the page. "Mabie if things were different we could have still been together." he said to himself as he looked about the room. Outside of a few Doujin comics and some toys strewn about it was rather nice. catching his eyes however was a officers sword on the desk nearbye causing him to nod. "Ah I must be sharing a room with Del." after unpacking he would tidy up the room cleaning up the comics and stuff and putting them neatly on Del side of the room. before sweeping the area.

YSS Resurgence

Chiasa returned to the medical bay not long after her departure, albeit after finishing the shower she had been wanting to take since her arrival (whether she needed it or not), changing into a Type 42 uniform with a Type 35 skirt, and claiming one of the empty bunks in her assigned cabin. The tiny Nekovalkyrja didn’t pay much mind to anything else before coming back, but with the away team out, the Resurgence seemed quiet, if a military warship on active duty could be described as such.

She wondered how long it would last.

Regardless, Chiasa took advantage of the spare time to familiarize herself with the medical center, checking to see if CMO had made any changes from the base model. From a cursory glance she sensed that no significant alterations had been made to it, but that didn’t account for the smaller details, such as the arrangement of drugs in the cabinets or layout of the refrigerators. Even so, she took comfort in knowing that she wouldn’t have to relearn anything, though the MP’s invisible presence still lingered in the back of her mind…

She hoped that the away team came back soon, if only to pull her thoughts away from him.

Finally having somewhat freshened up, Vec set about taking stock of his situation. He had a prisoner, a corpse, and two new staff on his hands. At least he still had his rank and title intact. It wasn’t exactly business as usual, there were plenty of worse outcomes. He set about checking the containment cells and set the MEGAMI to begin running faces through various databases: crime reports, known military personnel, and mercenaries for a start.

Once the ship’s computer began querying its databases, the CMO began one taking inventory. Turning half of his attention to his new medical specialist, he said, “Well this is the Medlab, I’ve got a pretty decent travel speaker set up over there if you want to play music.” Holding up two fingers he said, “You can play whatever you want, but there are two important rules though: one, when patients come in, the music goes down or off; and two, if your music is trash, others can roast you for it. I’ve got to abide by those rules too. I don’t like to be a task master of a CO. I just expect everybody to be on their shit and to remember that people’s lives aren’t our playthings. Roger?”

Thia clicked her jaw and a semi-transparent deck plan of the Fuji-class Expeditionary Gunship overlaid itself on top of the vision from her cybernetic eye, letting her easily find her way to Officers' Quarters #7, her new home and office. It had the Standard Enlisted Crew Cabin layout, but with the addition of a heavily-padded couch that looked like it would be comfortable for either sitting or laying down. She frowned at the otherwise starkly clinical look of the room, but she had some ideas for how to fix it.

Firstly, though, she strode over to her desk and set down the small bag that contained everything she owned in the galaxy. She pulled out her spare uniforms, a few civilian outfits, her spiced maple perfume, and a mostly-full bottle of some amber liquid, all of which she put away in storage compartments at the back of the room. Next, she pulled out a datapad, which she laid on the desk, and then finally a small hemispherical device roughly the size of her thumbnail. She stroked the side of the device and a small volumetric display appeared in front of her that said "Awaiting input..." After a few taps on the datapad, the display changed to "Receiving input..." And when it displayed what she'd sent it, she smiled warmly before walking out to attach the flat side of the device to the wall just above her doorway. Now projected in front of her door was a sign that read:

💕 The Counselor is IN 💞

With a satisfied nod, Thia walked back inside her office to undress and grab a towel before heading to the officer's showers. When she got back, she sent a quick message to the Captain over SYNC and set her communicator to send any messages to her cybernetics. With a click of her jaw she set her cybernetics to wake her if she received a message or if it detected knocking on her door, and finally, she jumped up to the top bunk and closed her eyes to rest for the busy day ahead.

Medical Bay

By instinct, Chiasa shifted to attention when the CMO addressed her, the old habit failing to pass even though she knew that he wasn’t one for that kind of ritual. Regardless, the tiny Nekovalkyrja didn’t let herself return to ease until he finished speaking, giving her a quick brief on the ground rules of his medical bay. Fortunately, his rules were nothing out of the ordinary. However, she preferred to enjoy music via her digital mind, rather than through speakers or earbuds.

She wondered if Vec could convince her otherwise.

“Yes Chui!” Chiasa answered snappily. “You won’t have a problem with me.” She added.

“Do you need assistance with taking inventory, sir? I could use the opportunity to familiarize myself with the layout. Make sure I know where things are, before we have patients.”

PROUD BOTTOM FLOOR

Thad for the most part was staying clear of the big talk between the grown ups. He felt he could learn a few things talking with the locals. Plus he was curious to learn more about these so called hybrids. Thad always did enjoy meeting new blood so this fit perfect for him. He stood by the bar and getting a few drinks. He tipped his drink towards a fine lady who was at the end of the bar. He figured she might be a cougar but was not going to ask. None the less they had a few drinks together and shared stories of past deeds. His war time stories seemed effective in getting her interested in him. Though he had no plans of doing anything too crazy, now that he had a wife. Granted this did not stop her from trying to make a move, which he allowed only to see how far she'd push. After some flirting, she oddly enough seemed disinterested in him. He smile and gave her his best wishes. As he walked away he noted that she had taken his glass which was interesting. Only time would tell what would come of this.

The Laughing Nonapus

Sanda had followed along with the group taking note of every person, weapon, exit and cover along the the way. As soon as they reached the bottom floor, Sanda sidestepped and took up a position against the wall where it was darker. She nodded approvingly as Del did the same on the opposite side of the door way. Sanda did several scans of the room with her cybernetics. Low light, infrared, heat source. She listened bud didn't comment on any of the discussions. She didn't even twitch when the Captains message of how much Yamatai would be willing to pay for information.

The only time Sanda made any movement was when Maximus walked over to the bar and started drinking and chatting with a local. Sanda's hand moved towards her knife yet she checked herself just before she actually touched it. Maximus really discussed Sanda. Not just as a soldier, but as a person. He had a wife and a baby back on the ship and here he was flirting with some Kuvexian. Now one could argue that he was only doing it to get information, but this wasn't the first time he had seen him flirt with people. Not that Sanda cared much about Mia, the woman should be discharged and given professional help, but she at least deserved loyalty from the man who was suppose to be her husband. Loyalty was everything to Sanda.

Sanda did notice the way the woman Maximus had spoken with carefully take his glass. Sanda's eyes narrowed as the woman moved away towards a side door and left with the glass. Interesting. Sanda sent a wireless message to the those on the team who could receive it. Advice we don't drink anything while we're here. I got a weird feeling about this place.

Lenna steps back into sight of the group at the bottom of the Laughing Nonapus making her way over toward the Baronesses side of the room and nods to Soon, " Hey Boss, I was able to get that last shipment out, and the return back here with little issue. The rework on the Sobek makes it so much better than I can remember it being." moving over to get herself a drink and then a place to sit down nearby to listen in to what was being said. Looking over toward Zeck and smiled, mouthing a thank you to her as she had a sudden call with mother nature and had to leave the party's side quickly.

Moments later

With a hiccup and a can of zap in both paws, Nikicon walks back into the meeting room and moves over to Lenna, and sets down a can as she whispers softly " here you go Boss" then moves to find a place to sit down she sips at the can as she smiles some. They were two more can-like bumps in Nikicons overalls if someone would glance her way.

zap (surge soda ).png

2600 Hz rang out in Thia's ear, dragging her out of a dreamless sleep in her still-lit office. Not yet in a state of consciousness but hurtling in its general direction, she clicked her jaw to silence the notification before she was aware of what was going on. With her eyes still closed, the Captain's SYNC lit up like a neon sign blasting straight onto her optic nerve. The corner of her mouth curled slightly.

"Very well, Cap'n," she slurred, still sleep-drunk. At least the talking part of her brain was. The way she rolled off the top bunk and landed softly on her feet was proof that her motor cortex was fully clocked and ready to rock. Delicate fingers with neatly trimmed nails nabbed the corner of the towel on which she'd fallen asleep and in a smooth continuation of the same motion, she tossed it onto the seat of her office chair, sat down and grabbed her datapad. Then she opened her eyes and got to work.

If she'd thought about what she was doing, it would've only slowed her down. Some kind of subroutine in her mind connected her eyes to the fingers flying over her datapad with a singular goal in mind and when the volumetric display of the space outside the Resurgence on the ceiling flickered, she knew she'd been successful.

The datapad and her cybernetic eye flashed in sync as she recalled mostly-naked nekos swimming with fish in a giant aquarium on the Aquarius Star Fortress, but the volumetrics just flickered again and she was still standing in her dreary office. Her fingers tapped out a staccato rhythm when she realized it wasn't three-dimensional data. But as the video followed her vision as she walked through the space, the parallax was enough to reconstruct an approximation, which was all she needed.

Suddenly, she was on the Aquarius again. There was some artifacting where her own body came into sight, but with a few taps it was gone and she saved the filter. With a final tap, she patched the connection directly to her visual memory, then clicked her jaw to turn off the now redundant heads-up display on her cybernetic eye. Finally, she stood and revelled in her recollections.

Click went her jaw and the Aquarius was replaced with the dense trees of Kinen-rin. Click, a litter-strewn alley in Ternifac totally dark but for the harsh light of the neon signs competing with each other for her attention at either end. Click, a run-down station in Abwehran space where she had pursued her quarry. Click, she was surrounded by sweaty onlookers drinking whatever the Octopus behind the bar was slinging as they banged their heads to the tune of a punk rock ant-girl on stage playing her heart out.

"This'll do," Thia muttered as she switched back to her office, got dressed in a fresh uniform, and stepped outside. She tapped the sign she'd affixed to her door and it changed as she walked away.

The Laughing Nonapus
Yayoi moved silently, following her fellow rangers and she too moved into the shadows. Her red and yellow eyes taking note of everything and everyone, including Thad’s flirting. She kept hersel from smirking at how the woman seemed disinterested in him. Now theres a wise woman She thought to herself, though taking note of the woman taking the glass. Which was when she’d heard Sanda’s voice speaking to her and the others. Agreed, sounds like a good idea She replied back to her.

The Laughing Nonapus

Delmira stood watching the room her hand not quite on her weapon under her coat but close to quick draw if needed.

Zeck stood behind Soon watching as well and hoping to whatever deity was worshiped that this meeting didn't turn into a blood bath but she was also excited. This sort of thing was new to the red skinned alien.

Yayoi remained silent as she observed everything around her, and waited for someone to say something or do something, including getting orders to return to the ship.

Nikicon finished her first can of Zag, and placed it nearby her as she was looking around. Everyone seamed so Tense there body language was so violent she did not like this at all. and sighs some moving to grab a hidden can and opening it as she gasps spraying herself as she gasped " oh crap that is the one i dropped!!": then sighs looked down at the can to see how much she had left.

Lenna had reached for her can and was about to open it as she heard the other can spray the snowshoe hare, then looks over holding it up some " did you drop this one too??"

Yayoi took note of poor Nikicon's mishap with the can. She had to admit it was funny but she did feel some pitty for her. She remained where she was though.

Zeck had her nervous grin and watched as Nikicon sprayed herself. The red alien was sure that would have set off the Yam people but she was happy when they all kept cool about it.

Nikicon looked over to Lenna and then said softly, " No I dropped only one, I made sure I got it. That is safe to open Boss." She sighs some taking a long sip from the can and sighs her face, and ears red from embarrassment from what she did.

Lenna smiles some and then says "Your just a silly hare Nikicon you know that?". Opens the can and sips from it as she looks around wondering how far they got about the discussion that she had missed.

Thad watched from a distance as the young lady was hosed by her own drink. He was happy to see things lighten up for some. As he did not enjoy when things became tense. He figured why not kill some time and have a good chat with them. He made his way towards who he'd learn was Nikicon. As he neared, "Well hello there, I see you started the celibration early." He said as he pointed to her wet chest.

Sanda eyed Maximus. She silently blinked and began a recording of him and his actions. She had had enough of him and his antics. When they returned to the ship, she would write out a report to the XO and the Captain about his lack of professionalism while on duty.

"Well, are you just going to keep a lady waiting, hmm?" Soon peered at Iemochi with a faint smile, an almost predatory one, "Are all Yamataian boys this pretty? The one last time was, too. Reminds me of that one a bit, for some reason," she gestured towards the bar at Maximus. "Just a bit larger than that one was. But neither of you have that certain... something, the Nepleslian captain had. You're not bad. Just... not like him." Predatory turned to condescending.

"Anyway, just say some number you think will make me happy. It's not like I'll do anything other than say 'yes,' or a different one. Hurry up, I've got a colony to run." Soon took the next drink offered to her and sipped it from a straw from one side of her mouth, never breaking eye contact.

Delmira narrowed her eyes at that and watched Soon. She wasn't sure if the woman was trying to flirt or if she was being predatory. Regardless if the woman tried something Del was ready to spring into action.

Kinie waved at Soon until catching her eye. "Ten million KS," the goth-looking little Nekovalkyrja who hadn't said much until now, suddenly spoke with unusual boldness once she had the Kuvexian's attention. "If we get what we need, we'll double it." She produced a purse and pulled out a gold-plated credit card.

Nikicon hearing someones apprach her even before he was abel to speak she looked over toward the approaching Thad and as he spoke up she just srugged and then said " Well I dropped a can of carbonated drink, and opened it before it was ready. not getting the party started." She looked down over the thick coveralls that covered her torso and her shirt. " I've been sprayed with much worse than a critris drink before while working on The Sobek in engerinering." more of the drink had hit her in the face then her torso.

Yayoi silently observed, though she took note of Sanda's actions and soon figured out what she was doing before she turned her attention back to the scene before her. Including Kinie's words which didn't get a reaction out of her.

Thad cracked a big smile. "I can relate, I too have enjoyed unexpected spraying in engineering." He then wiped the smile away. "Fun to meet another who isn't afraid to get dirty. Sometimes it is just what needs to happen."

Nikicon nods some and then smiles a little then blinks as a paw moves to a hidden can and offers one to Thad " Want a Can, i promise i did not drop that one." She smiles some trying to be friendly and then says " Yea they way i see it at times is that you have to get dirty to get things done, and sometimes you must get dirty to get the job done right the first time. She smiles some remembering the hell that she went though on the day of the invasion in the engineering room of a junk ship they used to refit the Sobek.

"Sold." Soon didn't even hesitate. It's likely she'd have been willing for far less, but she'd take anything she could get. She was a businesswoman, after all. "Pleasure doing business with you. You know, I think maybe I don't like the Nepleslians as much better than you as I thought. Maybe only a little bit better, after all." Condescending smile changed to self-satisfied, and she leanded back in her booth. "Seriously, though. I'd really like to get on with this official status business."

Leaning over to an associate, Soon spoke far too loudly for the close proximity between them, directly into the poor Kuvexian flunky's ear. "Go get everyone here this drink. Same one. Pass them out. And bring the nonapuses. Enough."

Thad reached out and took the can from her. He looked at it for a moment curious if it might explode. He also thought to shake it himself and have it explode over the both of them. He decided to just open it like a normal person. The can hissed as it opened. "Cheers," he said as he took a drink. "This isn't too bad. I like your taste. And seem like a down to earth kind of person."

Nikicon smiled and then said,"it's a real good drink Lenna like something that is made from a lot of plum juice something that she calls..." she paused, "um Professor Prepper or something like that " she tilts her head again thinking some as she smiled looking at him as he opened the can and took a zip. " I lilke my high-sugar citrus drink over hers." then, realizing that he commented on her being a down to earth kind of person, she blushrf and then smiled great big and nodded some. "Thanks, and I guess you could say I am indeed.

Delmira was shocked when Kinie pulled out the gold card but then she smiled a bit oddly proud of the goth girl. Del would for sure try to make it up to her later and get things ironed out but for now she returned to her stoic job of guarding the group

"Usually we get invaded about the time I make a deal with the Yamataians." Soon looked upwards at the ceiling with visible suspicion on her face, then waved it off. "Drinks! Drinks! Why aren't they here yet?"

Kinie slid the card across the table with the skill that came so natural to Nekovalkyrja who saw their movements in terms of math. It came to rest in front of Soon. "Her Imperial Majesty sends her thanks," Kinie simply said. "Please tell us everything."

Yayoi felt pleased as she watched Kinie use the gold card then glanced over to Thad as he reacted to the blushing Hare and then the scene around her.

Thad noticed Nikicon blush and this once more put a smile on his face. This felt nice and normal. Just a group of people having a few laughs and enjoying a drink. "Maybe sometime we can get the chance to work on your ship together. I am technically on leave at the moment. At least it sure feels like it at least." He took another drink. Then he reached into his coat and pulled out a flask. "Little something extra." He said as he popped the top and took a quick drink.

Lenna had moved to finish her drink and then looked over toward Nikicon seeing that Thad was over there talking to her and smiled some. It was nice that Nikicon get out and talk to more people it will do her good Lenna thought, as she sighed some. Hearing that the last time they got into deals with the Yamataians they got invaded she smiles and said " And I'll beat them back with the thunder of the main cannons of The Sobek again Boss!, and I'll take a drink also please!"

When the server brought Sanda a drink, the lighting tattooed woman politely but very firmly declined. She had no intention of drinking anything here. There was no reason for her to be drinking on duty. Besides, she had a bad feeling about the place.

Soon nodded her head towards Zeck, then towards another of her Kuvexian servants who was holding a credit reader. "If you would, dear. WHERE ARE THOSE DRINKS?" Her head snapped sideways to a completely uninvolved servant.

Zeck will move forward and pick up the gold card before moving over to the Kuvexian with the card reader and hands it to her.

Yayoi also declined, she'd sampled Kuvexian drinks before, it wasn't to her taste, and it wasn't good for her.

"No thanks I'm on duty." Was all Delmira said when offered a drink. Probably causing Sanda's heart to stop at those words given the short neko liked to hit the bottle on occasion.

Nikicon nods some and smiles again the blush was fading as she said, " Well The Sobek is my home, and its an old infantry class ship with a gunship weapons layout, We ripped out the barracks and replaced them with cargo holds and other than the janky Meson power system and old copper cable the ship performs very well for transporting cargo here and there." She does look a little sad as she said "Its horrible how we ended up getting the Sobek, but its worked out well so far." Nikicon moves a paw up to wipe a tear from her eyes as she remembered the pain of that week. But tries to put it behind as she chugs the last of the can in her other paw, take out yet another can and chugs that one down just as fast.followed with a hicup " ohhhhh too quick"

Soon must've been alerted wireless when the transaction cleared, because she smiled broadly shortly after the card was put in. "It has been lovely. And again, thank you for your assistance with the invasion and being such gracious hosts at the International Relations Conference. I had not seen a good beast slaughter since King Kakapom's triple-golden jubilee. It's as if you had just designed the entertainment for us." Soon was not herself present at the IRC, and her envoys did not appear to have recorded the incident. "Anyway, what else do you need? Here is all of the information regarding planets in that sector. As I said, we know there are at least two in there, they're tagged, but we haven't done a thorough analysis to search. I'm sure you'll manage."

Thad listened closely to what Nikicon and her story of how they fixed the ship. A feat that greatly impressed Thad. "Very interesting indeed, that was no simple task to do that kind of retro fit." He leaned forward, putting his elbows onto the bar and resting his head in his hand. "Tell me, would you consider yourself a wiz?"

Nikicon blinks some at the question and then nods some " Yes and I was trained on the colony ship since I was able to hold a tool. Till I left my home with Lenna and become a trader/engneer for her. If it is broke I can fix it, if it is not working right I can make it work better. And if its working right but taking too much power I can fix that too. Even if I have no ideal what it is and what it does I can surly fix it. " She smiles and thinks about telling him about the time a Junkyard ownered attempted to scam her out for money for some old worn part that she fixed there right in front of him.

"Haaa, now your my kind of people," Thad said proudly. "Nikicon-chan, I think sometime we will have to share notes on making things better. I been tuning the ship I am on since I got on board." He leaned back and off of his hands, and inched closer to her. "Tell me, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?"

Delmira turned around and look out the door at the bar. She looked at Thad and shook her head. She looked over at Sanda and sent her a telepathic message. {Want me to to go resuscitate the poor girl?}

Sanda shook her head. She had recorded some damning evidence of Thad's unauthorized work to the ship and his poor conduct in the field. The more he did, the better chance something would be done about him.

Yayoi silently ponders if Thad is incredibly lucky, to survive this long or incredibly unlucky. She decided time will tell, but she wasn't sure she liked Thad flirting.

Nikicon would nod some and then says " That would be cool I have been working on some really old tech right now and though it is easy to fix, and change to want i want it too, i hate to admitt it but i don't know if i would be able to work my magic on the newer tech like i can on the sobek.." She sighs some and pulls another zap can from somewhere and opens it as she then says " I mean i took a craft that needed gunners for the turrets to running off sensors and even gone as far as install a Shipwide AI into a craft that was never desinged for such things. There are things I have done to the Sobek that have given so much surprize and edge to the ole ship it might even be the reason we got though some pirate ambushes."

Thad grinned as he listened to her story. "I get exactly what you mean. Sometimes it feels the new stuff is just not as flexible. Like, I have to bypass 2 different safety systems just to get a power boost to a console." He reached up and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Its like, this isn't rocket science people, just a boost." He said as he let out a small sigh. "Maybe if given the chance we can spend time on each others ship. Like, an exchange program if you will."

Soon's associate laid some data storage, and the Kuvexian device that she could guarantee was compatible to read it, down on the table, then scuttled away obsequiously.

Zeck returned the card to Kinie. "Here card back." She said and lingered a bit by the neko only to catch the red haired neko staring at her and then backed off to stand by Soon.

Kinie picked it up and placed it carefully in her purse. "Time to go explore," she grinned. She could only imagine the new sights she'd see from the bridge.

Nikicon nodded some and then said, " Well the Sobek is only part mine its also My Bosses shipo as she lives there also So I'll have to ask Lenna and there are certain area's that I'll not be able to show off as it's got certain things that are special that we really don't want others to know about, But I know the same will be for your ship also." She nodded some and looked around for someone that works at the bar to try and get something that she could eat.

Lenna would be paying attention to the dealings of Soon with the others that she had brought here and tilted her head some looking back toward Thad and Nikicon hearing her name being mentioned and moves to try and pay more attention to Nikicon and Thad's conversation more so than the other one.

"Perfect, let us exchange numbers so we can keep in touch Nikicon-chan." He reached into his coat and pulled out his communicator and flashed the screen towards her.

Nikicon blinked blushing yet again as she sits upright some " er um wha.... oh right " She fumbles around in the many pockets of her coveralls, and then stands up as she growls muttering " damn it where i pu... oh here it is. " Pulling out her compad she smiles and moves to take a screenshot of his infomation and then moves to display hers " er um, here you go Thad."

YSS Resurgence - Medical Lab

Thia arrived in the medbay looking refreshed from her nap and shower. She looked around at the others, giving Chiasa a warm smile and nodding at Vec and Poppy.

"Did I miss all the excitement?" She asked with a hungry grin.

"Yeah a centipede as long as my arm tried to sell me stock in ice futures," Vec said as he concluded his inventory.

Poppy watched Vec with muted frustration, still coping with the rapid swing from running the medical lab by herself for the last two years to now having her workspace scrutized and inventoried and crowded with new faces. After having her life and career almost ruined by her new boss it was all she could do to keep herself from shaking in rage. She took a deep breath and pursed her lips and considered her options, briefly considering a late-night visit to Vec's quarters with a SOCK knife so he could experience the sensation of being back-stabbed for himself. But instead she just buried it and tried to focus on keeping her eyes from watering up, not really feeling like talking to anyone for the moment. This day seemed to go on forever.

Chiasa glanced back from the refrigerator as Thia's voice registered against her furred ears, which twitched upon sensing the woman's presence. The pharmacy specialist-in-training offered the Nepleslian a warm, soft smile in return, but she didn't pull her attention away from her work entirely. Still hoping to make a good impression, Chiasa treated the task of checking over her CMO's inventory as if it was a demanding surgery, but at the same time she didn't necessarily want to come off as a try-hard!

Whether or not she was successful in concealing that part of her nature, remained to be seen.

Aware that he couldn't bury himself in ritualistically checking supplies, Vec surveyed his newly expanded staff. There were definitely issues that would need addressing. Even with his lack of a bedside manner, he knew Poppy was upset with him. She had every right to be. He decided it was a conversation to be had one-on-one. He hated interpersonal shit, but it was something he needed to get better at.

Thia looked from Chiasa to Vec to Poppy. She noted that the CMO didn't seem to be suffering from fatigue, which relieved her. Was Poppy looking more tense than earlier? Maybe. But perhaps Poppy was just very relaxed after spending some time in her quarters.

"That's a terrible investment," Thia's cybernetic eye flashed. "Ice futures haven't been up in years. I doubt they'll go up any time soon."

"Probably not, the stuff's everywhere," Vec replied absently. He was still mulling over what to do. Sitting on his ass waiting for somebody on the away team to get hurt was torture, however. He had to fight the urge to begin counting supplies again.

With her digital mind, Chiasa was quite quick in checking over Vec's inventory work. As such, it didn't take her long to finish and to sense that everything seemed to be in order.

In other words, people were bored.

"I'm finished, sir." She said to her CMO, as her pink gaze shifted back and forth across the medical center, as a frown formed over her features.

"If...there's nothing else to do, I'd be willing to cut off one of my legs or arms for training." She suggestion, without a hint a hesitation or stutter in her voice.

"We could use the team chemistry development."

Thia turned and listened to Chiasa as she spoke, more out of politeness than anything. Her cybernetic ear could pick up and separate the waveforms of multiple conversations at the same time, so she had no trouble hearing her. "Don't we still have a corpse to look at?"

The odd suggestion snapped Vec out of his brooding. "If we want to practice, well anything, don't need to break you apart, Ohara," Vec said, almost choking. "We could just run a sim."

Thanks to Poppy's work earlier, the corpse was actually breathing, although it was all but brain-dead. The hemosynth she'd put into it had finished healing the body and his skull was back in one piece. It stood out like a sore thumb on the table once Thia's words drew attention to it.

"Oh right, Counselor." Chiasa said as she glanced at the "corpse" on one of the beds, her eyes going wide with realization. "Should we implant some basic memories into him and send him on his way, Chui?" The Nekovalkyrja suggested, turning to face the CMO as she did.

Thia looked at the once-corpse and saw that it was in much better shape than the last time she'd been to the Medbay. He even seemed to be breathing now, though he was clearly still unconscious. "Oh, I see the corpse got better. I don't suppose he's in any condition to talk, though?"

Meanwhile, the live captive woke up, and began banging on the door to the containment cell he'd been trapped in. "HEY YO! WHAT THE FUCK!"

Vec considered simply gassing the alien, but he wasn't sure what would or wouldn't be toxic to the mutant. "No, Ohara, he's dead," he said furrowing his brow. What was with these people wanting to just implant memories in corpses.

The banging and yelling from the containment cell snapped Thia's attention away from the previously-deceased. She smiled and walked over to the containment cell, standing just outside. She waved at the captive. "Hello. How are you doing, dear?"

Knowing better than to interrupt, Vec took a position off to the side, ready to jump in if the guy caused trouble.

For her part, Chiasa had total confidence in the containment cell's security, but the green-skinned prisoner elicited her curiosity. From the records, she illuminated that he had been taken prisoner for tailing after one of the away teams and attacking them. Fortunately, that made him someone they might be able to get information out of, should an interrogation succeed.

Is anyone trained in interrogation techniques? Chiasa transmitted to Poppy, Vec, and Thia, to prevent the prisoner from overhearing. The latter two would receive the message via cybernetics or communicators, immediately opening a group chat in the process. Maybe we could get him donuts from the fabricators. The tiny Nekovalkyrja suggested.

Thia felt her communicator buzz and the text from Chiasa's message appeared overlaid onto her vision as she continued to smile warmly at the captive. I used to love getting people to talk, though admittedly in a less formal situation, Thia broadcast back.

In turn, Chiasa sent Thia back some emojis—a trio blushing, fangirling, and winking faces, albeit in a private message, rather than the group chat.

Vec fished out his comm, and read the message. Every instinct was telling him to stay in his lane. Jumping into something he didn't have the faintest bit of training in could cock things up even further than they had been already. Gonna pass it up to the bridge, Vec typed.

Not too soon after, the medbay door slid open with a soft hiss. The First Officer, clad in her white-paneled Type-42 Bodysuit stepped over the threshold. Koyama surveyed the bay as if she were bracing for it to be on fire. Which, thankfully was not.

Name the devil and he shall arive, Vec thought with a feeling of relief more than anything. "Prisoner's yours, ma'am," he said with a welcoming gesture.

Chiasa immediately snapped to attention with the arrival of the First Officer, stepping out of her way in the process so that she could access the containment cell.

"Technically the prisoner is yours, Chui." Koyama responded waving for Chiasa to stand at ease. "No need for that, Ohara-hei." offering the Neko a soft smile of approval all the same at the gesture.

"The Captain wants him thrown back."

"Ma'am," Vec protested, "I can't help think that's a bad idea, he was following us, and it wasn't just a garden variety robbery."

"Oh," Thia replied to the voice behind her without taking her eyes off the captive. "That's too bad. We were just getting to know each other." Thia offered him another friendly twirl of her fingers.

Koyama lifted an eyebrow, "And what would you suggest?" she asked, interest piqued for the moment. She did spare a glance at Thia, curiosity clear on her face at the woman's remark.

"It's not my wheel house," Vec said before turning up the opacity on the containment cell, "but if anybody on this ship knows a thing or two about interrogation, I'd suggest we use those skills to get some intel. If we've got other interested parties, wouldn't it be best to know now instead of getting jumped again in the future?"

"I'd suggest we have a friendly chat," Thia added, still hoping the captive would reply to her. "Wouldn't that be nice, dear? I'm Thia, by the way."

Chiasa immediately set herself back at ease, her cheeks almost erupting in blush at receiving the First Officer's smile. At the almost same time, Thia's suggestive comments towards the green-skinned captive caused her features to twitch as she held back a giggle!

"What about the vegetable?" Poppy asked, looking down at the empty shell of a man on her operating table.

"He's only alive by the most literal sense of the word," Vec said. He wasn't fully sure what to do in truth. Would euthanasia at this point be a mercy or just taking their patient's life into his hands in the same way he had condemned Pink for earlier.

Koyama raised a hand chest high, staring at Vec, "You just made a suggestion." She reminded him, wheelhouse indeed. With a frown, she then looked to Thia, "Twenty minutes." She offered, too little time, but then again she was working within the constraints of the captain wanting the smelly bastard off his ship.

"Then he leaves," looking to Vec, "Any longer, and the Chusa will be aggravated further."

"Aye aye," Vec said. He wasn't eager to keep the man on the ship either, he just didn't like ignoring potential landmines.

Thia turned for the first time since Koyama entered the room to smile at her, but for a moment, she paused when she saw what she thought was a snow ghost, a legend from the mountains she'd visited years ago. When she blinked, it was gone and instead she saw Koyama. She put back her warm smile. "Thank you, ma'am."

Then she turned back to the captive. "Did you hear that, dear? We just have a few minutes to get to know each other. Would you like to tell me your name? If not, I would be happy to give you one."

"Suggestions, Poppy?" Koyama then added while nodding to the potato on the table.

For her part, Chiasa nodded to the First Officer and transmittted her an invitation into the group chat she had set up with Vec, Poppy, and Thia, where she would see what had been suggested pertaining to an interrogation of the green-skinned captive, while also allowing her to contribute to the discussion.

"Vec wants to kill him, who am I to argue with him?" Poppy said. She whipped out her pistol and fired it into the vegtable's face, vaporizing it in a cloud of red splatter. She put it back in the holster and went to grab the medlab's mop.

Vec opened his mouth and closed it, eyes darting between the XO and the Counselor. "I would have used a different method, but..." he trailed off. Too many emotions running too high in this ship.

Sighing, and trying to use his best 'doctor' voice, Vec said, "Hey, when you're off shift, have a chat with Thia, OK?"

"Medical Bay, I have shots fired aboard, report?" Tachiko was again distracted from the away team mission by goings on below decks.

"HOLY FUCK!" the voice from the containment cell shouted. "Yo, what's happening?!"

"Don't worry about that, dear!" Thia yelled back, without flinching from the sudden gunfire behind her. "You're not in any danger. Would you like to tell me why you were following us?"

"Five fingers five toes, Control," Vec said towards the ceiling.

Chiasa didn't flinch as a small amount of the ID-SOL's blood got onto her face and uniform. Instead, she immediately began working to dispose of the body.

"You can dissolve it in the hemosynth tube," Poppy suggested, having some experience in this area. She set the mop down and helped Chiasa move the headless body across the medical lab to the tubes.

Koyama stared, her expression so uncannily Aoba-like in its set at Poppy's casual violence all she did in response was an inhalation of breath. Vec had royally pissed the nurse off. And now had first-hand experience in why it was always good to stay on Poppy's good side.

At Tachiko's call, she relayed what happened.

"You did check if he had a brain-spider first?" Asking Poppy just for the sake of it. Blood and Violence didn't seem to phase the woman much.

"Of course," Poppy replied. "None present," she said.

Chiasa halted, only just before she would have thrown the body into the hemosynth. Then, while the body was placed one shoulder (which was so large that the sight of the tiny Nekovalkyrja hefting the massive form of the ID-SOL over her shoulder without effort was almost comical), she used her free hand to pull out her medical scanner before scanning the massive ID-SOL's body for cybernetics.

"No cybernetics reported, Taii." Chiasa verified.

"For what it's worth, that'll be the third time he got shot in the head today, don't know what shape it would have been in if he had one, anyway," Vec said stooping to help lift the re-corpsified ID-SOL's legs.

Thia was beginning to wonder if the man inside the cell was ever going to reply. "Can you hear me dear?" She asked. "Would you like some donuts? I'll give you some donuts if you talk to me."

Koyama stared a moment, blinking slowly at Vec. "ID-SOL grow larger, and stronger with age. If he were a Pureblood, chances were he could have survived a shot to the skull from an NSP. No shape to fight. But survivable."

To Chiasa, she nodded, "Thank you, Ohara-hei." Then looking to Poppy meaningfully.

'You're pissed.' stating the obvious wirelessly to the nurse.

Vec didn't correct the XO verbally, but he'd shot the bastard twice and once they'd got him onto the Res, they'd determined he no longer had any brain functions.

Honey, Thia sent a message to Chiasa, do you suppose the captive can hear me through the containment wall? Clearly he could hear the gunshots, but he hasn't said anything to me. I even offered him donuts like you suggested. I wouldn't mind going in there with him, if it will give us a better chance to talk. I just don't want him running away.

After placing the body in the tube and adjusting the settings of the hemosynth to integrate it, Chiasa shifted her attention towards cleaning herself up. However, she didn't neglect Thia's message.

I could requisition the donuts from the fabricator. Chiasa offered. It might help if he sees them and maybe has the opportunity to interact with them. He might not know what donuts are!

Of course, the situation may or may not have been helped by the fact that the captive had just witnessed Poppy blowing out of the brains of the ID-SOL.

He might also be in shock. Chiasa added.

I love your suggestions, honey, Thia messaged Chiasa. If you requisition the donuts, I'll bring them in to him. If he kills me, just make sure to bring me back as a really sexy Neko. ;)

Agreed, I don't think he'll respond well to someone covered in blood giving him donuts.
Chiasa responded, a soft smile coming over her features as she did. You're already sexy, though! She added with a pair of winking and drooling emojis as she did.

Then, with that, Chiasa flashed a message back to the group chat.

I'm going to grab donuts for the prisoner. She transmitted.

Koyama found herself a chair and promptly seated herself. Giving Vec a look. "You're taking all of this rather well," saying it with the barest hint of narrowing of her eyes. From what she'd seen of the man, observing him off and on over the last day. Chances were he was just keeping his head down and digging into the work while swallowing whatever complaint and concern he had welling up inside.

Vec simply shrugged before finding something to clean up his operation table. Pink's little outburst had better not have damaged any equipment.

"..." Koyama swept up on to her feet, moving silently over to the man. "We will talk later." she said in low tones, going so far as to pick up a bottle of cleanser to hand to him.

"For the best," Vec said simply.

YSS Resurgence - Bridge

Koyama meanwhile looked to Aoba, concern marring her face. "Sir? Was it wise to put Vec back into play so soon?" she scratched at a creamy white cheek with a finger, barely missing her beauty mark beneath her eye. "Poppy being taken off the bench and in the same bay as the man so soon. I would not put it past her to be a little... angry."

"He was trying to do what he felt was the right thing," Aoba said. "I cannot fault a man for having principles. However, we should not be so quick to turn on our allies. It will not be easy for them to work together, but I expect them both to be professional enough to manage it," he explained.

Koyama placed a hand behind her back, the other still clutching the pad at her side. "Hmm." she said in response, somewhat mirroring her superior in his manner. "Perhaps so, sir. Perhaps so. I find the system itself relatively flawed. And open for possible abuse. I would surmise the Taisho will have voiced her opinion on the matter directly to the Mistress of Ships. And would not doubt the SASO Director will be getting an earful."

The Executive Officer tucked her chin against her chest, "We may have dodged a bullet, sir. That the local authorities did not lodge a complaint over the MP's arrival. Although it may have aroused some notice all the same." With a sigh, Koyama glanced to Tachiko and back. "Would you like for me to check in on them? And our guest?" Using the latter as pretext to just make sure Poppy didn't act on those impulses of introducing a SOCK knife to Vec's internal organs.

"We have no real reason to keep them on our ship. Send them back," Aoba ordered.

"Yes sir," Koyama said with a curt little nod before making her way off the bridge.

Tachiko could only sip her coffee once more and pretend nothing was going on except the map markers and data feeds from the away team. Things were going well, communications wise, for them to be nine stories underground. Signals piggybacking on their own infrastructure, likely, she thought to herself.

"Hold on... uh..."

"Pink just shot that... the dead one?" Tachiko announced after receiving a reply from the medbay after the operations console detected an NSP was fired.

"Strange," Aoba commented. "Usually she tries to save everyone at all costs," he observed.

"I would hazard a guess she's ahh... pissed at her new department head, Chusa. No brain-spider or brain activity reported prior to the time of death." Koyama's voice said over the bridge com.

"Barber-Hei?" Tachiko looked up to see if she'd stuck around after emerging from the captain's office. "Mou ippai, o kudasai?" She'd never herself seen anything out of the ordinary from this legendary Mia Fuckin' Barber herself. Of course, Tachiko hadn't been here that long. "It was wonderful, thank you. Arigato ne."

Mia just gave a big thumbs up.

It took Delmira a good minute to recognize Nikicon. She waved at Sanda to get her attention and signaled she was going to go over to where Thad and Nikicon was. {I'm going to warn her i met her at the Yugumo corp photoshoot. She's a sweet girl and i don't want that moron to break her heart.} Delmira sent in a telepathic message to the ranger before making her way over to the table. "Nikicon is that you?"
