OOC [SAINT] YSS Kōkatsu

After some hard thinking and asking people for their thoughts on what ship class to run, I'm pleased to announce that the YSS Kōkatsu is ready to launch as a Chiaki-class Escort Destroyer! As soon as we've got characters, anyway.

@xImmortalxBeauty and @Ametheliana have been asking me to start the plot so I look forward to seeing their characters! @SirSPT was talking about how he wanted one of his characters to become a SAINT operative, so is welcome here if he wants to join up—as is any player who wants a true secret agent experience!

Here's a rundown:

• Wiki article: Here. Most of the following information is there, too!
  
• Posting and pace: You're expected to post at least once a week before being dropped. But endeavor to reply to your fellow players as often as you can! I'll do the same :>
  
• Wanted characters: This is totally up to y'all. You're all SAINT operatives on top of your standard duties. You can make regular ship crew or be dedicated agents and leave that stuff to the NPCs. Everything from First Officer to listless red-shirt Santo Hei is open!
  • That said, while I have an overall plot plan to guide us, if everyone makes a sweet Tokutenku SOFT commando then the plot will focus on combat. If it's mostly bridge bunnies, the plot will adapt to that. If it's a mixed bag then, as you can expect by now, same deal. Feel free to use this thread or PM each other to coordinate any ideas y'all may have for your characters.
• Age restrictions and rating: The plot is not currently slated for official 18+ treatment because that means, to me, that it'd include a lot of constant explicit sexual content. Players are free to do this sort of RP on their own time, of course, and post it in the proper sections. If we come to a point where the whole player base agrees that we want to go 18+ then we'll do so then. Until that time, the plot will be rated:

Your captain is Okano Yoshiko, who lead the old SAINT plotship YSS Genei back in the day. It was a small ship full of spy shenanigans and intrigue and the Kōkatsu aims to live up to that legacy!

We'll start RP as soon as I get an idea of the participating characters.

I wasn't planning on putting the ship in a squadron, no. Chiaki-class vessels can clearly travel via FTL per the CDD values listed on its page, and my experience as a player on the YSS Sakishima show me that the class is very capable of traveling from somewhere like Planet Yamatai to the Outer Colonies subsector without any narrative problems. Thank you for your concern, though!

Cool characters! Those with prior IC experience always make the best SAINT agents, imho. Let me know what specific occupations you'd like them to have when you figure that out yourself.

Well I'm pretty much sold on this idea. And luckily I have recently released character in need of a plot.

Nice! After checking out the dates in which her current plot takes place, I think Hasewega's re-training into SAINT can be justified. The timetable is slim so she'd have to have started training right after the crossover mission if we don't want to fudge some things—though, if necessary, that's fine with me if it is with you. Hit me up once you've updated whatever you think is necessary on her profile!

I'll start working on a post to get us started and can probably put it up sometime tomorrow. If anybody would like a little more time to sort out their characters, though, don't hesitate to say so.

Well, we're all operatives. That's the baseline. But those operatives stationed aboard a SAINT ship will have a primary shipboard job such as Sensors Operator or Engineer. Same goes for Infantry aboard the ship—rather than Uchuugun soldiers, you'd be operatives specializing in combat operations. If there are enough people who want to play such a role, we'll have a SAINT SOFT stationed aboard. If there are only a couple of you, though, you'll just play badass black ops soldiers assigned to the Kōkatsu (until we can fill out a full SOFT unit). This mission might not yet warrant a full team just yet, after all.

I've got your briefing in mind, but wanted to give everyone the opportunity to find their way aboard and say "hi" to each other. Feel free to bump into other characters and introduce yourselves! That's more important than checking in with MEGAMI, in all honesty. You're all free to edit in your own cabin assignments, too. Once everyone's comfortable, the captain will call to meet you and then we can get into Real Ninja Stuff.™

@Speeder01 mentioned they wanted to join with a cool Mini SAINT, so here's looking forward to that character's arrival~

EDIT: I forgot to mention this: While the Chiaki-class comes equipped standard with Daisy power armors, you are free to use Mindy 4s since they're the latest and most advanced technology, or whatever approved armor you'd like. They'll probably be black instead of standard SAoY white, as is SAINT tradition.

As I said in SAINT chat, I've got my next GM post ready, so after you introduce the new character I'll move us along. Will probably give a few hours so people can say something to Maki, though :>

Her hobbies go like this:

• Collecting stuffed cat toys
• Petting cats (gets bit a lot, though!)

So it's at the bottom of the list, but it's something her mother passed down to her.
