RP [Task Force Inquisition] Mission 1, Space Phase - Don't Fear the Reaper

YSS Shinigami

The soldiers of the Ninth Legion stood at attention in the Sharie battleship's own cavernous bay as the simulcasted briefing wound down, a lot of whispering going on through the ranks as the various elements were preparing to form up and break off. There was the rush of excitement at a prestigious mission within many, and the century that Chui Fukujima Nima was a platoon commander within was no exception, making it only more difficult to marshal the relatively unruly troops she was assigned...

Among them, Moesashi Yama's aptly named 'fireteam' were looking to be itching to burn something down, Graxlat or otherwise, which likely suited her personality just fine! However... one of them with very white hair, amber eyes and slightly tanned skin seemed to be mumbling to herself about seeing the snowy slopes that were said to be there near the town of Kumano instead. She certainly wasn't the only one interested in what could be lurking at the forgotten SASI research base planetside, and how it might be used against them.

Mikodemus Belmont, the assigned cook, could hear a gaggle of attractive infantry Neko nearby gossiping not-so-quietly about the Taisho's 3 daughters - Akiko, Ayano & Miu -- and how they heard they were born during the International Relations Conference during an NMX invasion. What a scandal that must've been!

Mikoto nodded her head once respectfully to Shimizu as her projection delivered the remainder of the speech, all the while outside the purple hue of the hyperspace bubble could be seen dissipating as the numerous Task Force's ships successfully entered the edge of the Skadi system's Hull sphere.

"As you can see, we have a lot of eyes on this fight in command," began the Taisa as she heard the CAG pop the only question so far, tapping her tessen rythmically. "But on the field, our Irims will be performing this role. Our sensor dish arrays were specifically upgraded to more modern electronics to assist with this. Once the squadrons are spaceborn we'll be..."

Just then there was a shuddering that was felt through the deckplates beneath the recruits feet, a feeling of distortion of time in that moment that was very different than merely dropping out of fold...

For the moments time, Moesashi Yama stood stone-still for the briefing. She eyed her team as they made preparations, looking each member over in some sense that a leader would. She hadn't geared up yet, but was wearing the Daisy appropriate attire of a form-fitting Type 21 Bodysuit in exchange for her regular war skirt. Modern regulations.

The aged Neko gave the other members a small smile, but had decided to not speak until their overseers had finished the briefing. It was at least in, in part, because she had been informed of the climate of the planet they were soon to make landing on. While she tried not to reflect it on the outside, she was freaking out. Her and snow had a bad, if not traumatic history. Who would have guessed the first mission back would be just like where she left off...

Yama shivered. She very much looked forwards to the end of debriefing and the opportunity to slip into a new Daisy, at least so she could drop this poker face for the new recruits.

Bryn stood straight as a rod as the Taisa explained what they were heading into. She knows how to put on a show if nothing else, she thought as she watched the commander use her war fan to the fullest to illustrate her points. Much more impressive than any assembly at ZFHS, that's for sure. Of course, a bigger budget does that.

I mean,
she thought, still looking forward as her mind wandered, that's what this is at the end of the day. A massive assembly where we just stand here while the Taisa talks about strategy for some reason while we wait until we actually do what we trained for. Going to be interesting to go to a tundra planet though. Wonder what Aunt Nenna would think about that?

The Neko sighed as her now foreign aunt came up in her thoughts again and tried to distract herself with watching the projection of Skadi and the countless enemies surrounding it. Just hope no one talks about Asteria. Really don't want to feel awkward when they bring up the porn star turned royalty that's my aunt. Shaking her head, she put her attention back to the Taisho's presentation and trying not to tune into some of the gossip swirling around her. Sounds like it will be guard duty for us. At least it's the easiest thing we could do and still be invol-

Bryn's focus came back to her body as she felt the ship shudder underneath her. "What was that?" she asked, composure forgotten as she looked around in confusion. This definitely didn't come up in training.

Suzuki Akira is a infantry officer, not an engineer. But the old infantry (by SAoY standards) in her 15 years of service had never felt anything like that before as the ship shuddered. Her instinct was to turn around and tell the kittens to suit up immediately. But this is still technically the Taisa's show. So she just stood there all professional like, ready to bark orders.

The assembled infantry and pilots were apparently not the only ones who felt the turbulence, but while many of them were confused by what it could be, there was one elder Nekovalkyrja who was not... Hachimitsu-taisa's eyes went wide, as she suddenly lost her briefing composure and barked out instinctively into what seemed like empty air to the ship's MEGAMI:

"...Redirect all CFS power to shields! Incoming Fire!"

There was a second of tension as the venerable Irim's aging systems under the guidance of head engineer Tahibana-heisho tried to switch from fold speed to combat configuration unexpectedly. But even their efforts were not fast enough to stop what was to come, as the wave of distorted spacetime generated by a Transposition Flux Cannon washed over the ship and grabbed it in its destructive clutches, rocking the assembled Neko crew back and forth roughly. A river of quintessent dark energy soon bathed the YSS Orochi in absolute destruction, carving a hole through the CFS bubble like a hot knife through butter and striking the ancient Zesuaium hull armor, which buckled in several places from the onslaught with a groaning sound.

One of the strike points was the Launch Bay itself, as bulkheads began to warp and melt, and numerous Mindy PA hangars were sent crashing to the floor as the ship struggled to shrug off the massive ambush and right itself. The sounds of battle being brought to them sent waves of uncertainty through the ranks who though this was going to be a symbolic cakewalk mission. There was thankfully no serious damage, though a lesser, newer gunship would have been far less fortunate. The silver-haired Taisa herself had been sent through the still-active volumetric screen behind her with a shattering sound, its lightshow giving way to the lift wall behind her that she used anti-gravity to avoid striking painfully.

The briefly display struggled to reform before those who managed to right themselves, showing a fleet of 10 Arashi Escorts in protective screen around what appeared like a massive battleship behind them, an equal for the Sharie in size. But what was creepiest about the imagery was the fact that the enemy flagship was composed of a gruesome amalgamation of parts of old Star Army vessels bristling with guns... one could notice bits of Nozomi-class scout ships along with Irim-class gunships seemingly bolted together haphazardly, their telltale familiar Main Weapon Arrays still smoking and recharging from the barrage they had just fired right into Task force Inqusition's Orochi Squadron formation. The hull sections one could recognize still showed the telltale markings of the Reaper of 4th Standard Fleet on their flaking paint jobs, indicating the scavenged remnants of the scuttled former fleets assets.

"Shimatta! They were expecting us, even using our own transposition weaponry!" grumbled Mikoto, as she righted herself and entered the lift back to the command deck, klaxons blaring. "All fighter squadrons, Scramble immediately! Armor teams, to the catapult! We have one minute until those bakayarou can fire again."

YSS Shinigami, PA Bay

The briefing's line was cut unexpectedly, as confused looks were exchanged among the assembled Rikugun, before the feed returned showing the similar image of their enemy engaging the Orochi squadron vanguard with an ambush of directed Transposition Flux weaponry fired from the hideous Frankenstein of a battleship only the Graxlat could patch together, as its escort wing zoomed ahead to attack the damaged and smoking Irim's. The MEGAMI's voice chimed in helpfully to alleviate the confusion amid familiar warning chimes:

"Alert, alert. Contact with enemy forces confirmed. All Ninth Legion units to Readiness condition 1, please proceed to assigned defense stations. Prepare for anti-boarding operations. This is not a drill."

Hayami listened to the remainder of the briefing with repressed impatience as the Taisa answered the blue-skinned CAG's inquiry, the hairs on her four tails standing tense behind her. In spite of her impatience, the young Neko did her best to listen for important tactical details to record within her digital memory. She only needed to listen for a few more seconds, however, as the attention of the group was pulled to a series of shudders beneath their feet, which seemed to distort the passing of time, if only for a moment.

With uncanny suddenness, Hayami was thrown into the air and off of her feet, towards the volumetric briefing display. As terror overwashed her senses at the possibility of hitting her head on the obstacle, the magenta haired Neko only narrowly missed hitting the display, through no anti-gravity manipulation on her part. Instead, she regained control by planting her feet to the wall and stopping her momentum with pure lower body strength, preventing herself from striking the bulkhead and potentially sustaining a concussion.

When she landed back on the ground, the cyan-eyed Neko took a brief moment to reorient herself as the alarm klaxons blared and the call to suit up was sent out. Even before retaining her balance, Hayami floated at speed towards her designated, extra small Mindy, which had fallen to the floor in the chaos. As she pulled it off of the ground, the bodysuit Hayami had projected over herself flashed off to unveil her naked form as she entered the armor through the chest area and slotted her four tails into the attachments, a process that took shorter than expected on account of routine and practice. Finally, Hayami donned the helmet, concealing her magenta hair from the outside world. As the helmet sealed over her head and she activated the SPINE connection, Hayami floated to the weapon rack and quickly attached gear to the hardpoints: two capacitors on her shoulders, countermeasures on her legs, dorsal NSB launchers, scalar grenades, an aether/scalar SMG, and an ASP. It was a defensive, high mobility loadout, meaning that essentially all of her damage would come from the SMG. As she finished attaching her weapons, Hayami registered Kikyo and a blue-skinned Neko doing perhaps the same in her panorama.

"Kikyo-chan! Stay close, and your new friend too!", she said with urgency in her voice. Although Hayami was loathe to take the lead in any situation, she knew that her roommate was even more shy, to the point of meekness. Hayami had known her for only a short time, but she had developed a motherly and protective instinct for the raven haired Neko. Quite simply, she wanted Kikyo and her new friend to survive the coming engagement with their bodies and souls intact. She had strong faith in the ability of soul transfer technology to restore and renew life, including the soul of the once dead person itself. However, her roommate's loss would be traumatic, even if her revival and return to the world was guaranteed.

Without waiting for much longer, Hayami floated with speed towards the catapult systems, feeling composed and awakened at the prospect of being launched into the void at FTL speeds, with little more than a thin layer of zesuaium between her and the hated enemy...

Sora Arinori sighed quietly to herself as the briefing went underway for the mission. She'd been surprise-transferred to this Ninth Legion, and while it seemed an exciting place she didn't actually expect to have found a new assignment so quickly. She hadn't even gotten the time to tell Mikodimus about it! It'll have to wait until after the battle, I guess, she thought.

Then the floor shook about like one of those simulators of crashing through the atmosphere from orbit. Only this time, they weren't exactly "close" to a planet...

The towering patrician yelped, her massive violet appendages instinctively shooting to either side and unfortunately clipping a neko in the arm as she had turned to run. The impact was thankfully not enough to bring the soldier down, but it was disruptive nonetheless. Sora grumbled apologetically as she retracted her wings, turning on the spot without even a glance at the massive screen to dash into her Daisy, freshly assigned but with the same basic loadout of before.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Let's go! We need to clear off before they fire again, and disable that cannon!" It couldn't be said who said those words between the two blonde elysians, only that their voice sounded out through the suddenly writhing and scrambling crowd of soldiers. it didn't take long, anyways, for the two Sargases to find their way back to the still-new Mamushis, the two of them wasting no time to get back into space.

<Look out!> Kishi had barely enough time to belt out a rushed telepathic warning before one of the nearby Mamushi fighters was ripped from its clamps, the sheer force of the impact sending the wounded craft skidding across the hangar in a storm of flying sparks. Diving to cover herself, the azure-haired Neko winced as an unlucky pilot took a spindly wing to the gut and tumbled to the floor, the rest of the machine passing mercifully over her head.

"By the Empress, this day is turning into a fine mess!" Kishi spat as she dashed forward, slapping her helmet on as she grabbed the side of her issued starfighter, vaulting straight into the cockpit with a quick inertial boost. Fingers dancing across the dashboard she quickly rushed through the vehicle's startup sequences, a small hiss escaping her lips as the distinct frozen-metal prickle of the SPINE interface tracing across her nervous system. "Hachidori to Orochi Control, requesting clearance for inmediate takeoff!"

Akane was knocked off her feet by the weapon's hitting the launch bay. Aoi pulled her to her feet and the two Nekos headed straight for their fighter. Using her SPINE, the two Nekos first checked to make sure the fighter was undamaged, then began to start up the fighter. It would take a couple extra moments because their fighter carried the Multirole sensors pod. The two of them hit the fighter at the same moment, mounting it swiftly. "Sisko to Orochi Control, requesting clearance for inmediate takeoff!" Akane said, maneuvering the fighter to make their takeoff easier.

Ume was lurched but compensated with her own forces of levitation and landed back on her feet. She looked to Mikoto and only nodded before running towards the fighter designated as her own. She attached her helmet to her suit once she reached it and scrambled up into the pit while linking in with her SPINE and beginning startup with her hands.

She immediately let the ground crew do their checks and began getting really testy with the tech whose job was to test her suit. After cursing enough times to make a sailor blush and make a tech cry, she sealed the cockpit and ignited her engines. Her combat load was eight high-manuever model torpedoes and her aether cannons.

She cursed herself for being the third on the takeoff line and taxied to behind the first launch strip painted on the deck flooring. "Orochi, Heartbreak One, in traffic awaiting scramble."

Ume wanted in the air, now.

~

Kikyo immediately took Hayami's hand and held on for dear life. Her confidence had shattered as soon as she felt the deck rumble and watched the racks collapse and fall the the deck. She needed to get ready, her setup was the same as it always was. She just needed to get launched and hopefully hold onto her lunch and stay dry. Both of which would be a fight of their own.

After a while of stumbling behind her roommate, she eventually got into her own steps and tried to block everything else out as she approached the catapult, still fighting her own wills and fears in her interior, mental battle.

Shasse had kept to herself for the briefing and had planned on doing so for a short while longer, at least until she could get a few moments to talk to some of her team mates however like her personality the universe dealt up a wild card and that chance she was waiting for would never come. Stumbling over to her own PA which had miraculously remained standing while those around it had fallen the blue skinned neko quickly dressed for success and checked that her usual loadout was equipped after the transfer.

Satisfied everything was where it should be and party due to the large adrenaline boost the sudden attack had given her Shasse quickly engaged her own flight systems and moved towards the catapults ready to be flung into the void, she hadn't managed to catch any information on what exactly was happening outside the ship but she assumed it was enemy craft and prepared herself for the possibility of picking off would-be boarders.

Noticing the pair ahead of her doing the same the little sniper moved swiftly towards the pair, if there was a better time to find some combat partners it wouldn't be any later than right before a launch. "Rough weather we're having here, thought this kind of thing didn't happen till the late season." She said moving up beside Hayami as they prepared for launch, "Call me Shasse, figured now would be a good time to grab some combat buddies so uhh, you two need a sniper?" The white haired neko gave a beaming grin before realising her helmet was still in her off hand and quickly placed it atop her head and sealing the suit.

Jamie felt her body coming to an abrupt stop against the armor bay's wall. The neko abruptly stood up, with a cough and a gasp, from hogging the wall, looking around the previously not messed up bay.

After a bit off effort, she reached her designated armor, which was lying unfashionably on the floor, and proceeded to pick it up and attempt to suit up in a bit of a rush. She then dashed as quickly as her armored legs could to the catapults, where she stood awaiting further instruction, maybe just sneakily listening into the conversation going on nearby.

The transition came as a surprise to Noboyuki "Baka" Kita, rising Chief Engineer. He stayed in dry dock with the old ship, overseeing all of its renovations, drawing huge red X's on various blueprints, eating cookies in the cafeteria, being flustered, and so on. It had been fun and all, but after his first mission, the ancient ship felt empty. Janitors don't mind Noboyuki, the MEGAMI was worse at casual conversation than he is, and while he was working with some high ranking engineers constantly, they were 99.5% business.

It was boring to the Nth degree.

Of course, today the Minkan rushed to pack up everything in his office, stuffing everything from pens to tissue boxes to very important files in a backpack. Didn't matter what it was, as long as he could fit it, he could carry it; he didn't have much anyway.

You think Noboyuki Kita is nervous? Well, he was nervous, but he was also very excited, too. The Minkan can't stifle his enthusiasm as he mulled over the basic facts:

1.) He will be station on another Sharie, a new one at that.
2.) He will also be a Chief Engineer for this ship; for real this time!
3.) He could see old and new faces there, too. Noboyuki overheard that some of the pilots on this ship transitioned to the Task Force, just like him. So it must be possible!

With a hyper-enthusiastic squeal, Noboyuki the Engineer made is way out, saying his goodbyes to everyone he ran into, including the MEGAMI.

"This will be the best first day since... Since my first day!"

YSS Shinigami, Bridge
Present Time

Noboyuki hummed a cheery tune as he walked into the bridge, datapad and a bag of cookies in hand.

"Your exemplary performance aboard the YSS Imperator has been noted...!" Noboyuki quoted the order, squealing to himself. "I still can't get over it! I can't get over any of it!" He dropped the datapad and the bag of cookies at his station, plopped in his comfy seat, and munched at his cookies while reviewing ship status.

The YSS Shinigami; massive, shiny, fresh, and all responsibility. Here it is, all at his fingertips... It's almost too much, but this is what he had looked forward to for years!

It didn't matter if he was missing some big rallying speech, this future symbol of pride and joy was more than enough for him! Those moments at the Imperator, he will make them a reality on this ship.

Wait, rallying speech...

"Shoot, the rally!" Noboyuki whipped up his datapad and tuned into the stream. He didn't know how much he just missed, but on the bright side, he's didn't need to know everything, right?

Of course, next thing he knew, everything was caught in a downward spiral. The YSS Orochi got hit by nasty shockwave, a pirate fleet just invaded their space, and now they have to deal with a Sharie-sized amalgamation of engineering.

... Noboyuki Kita, Chief Engineer, quietly put the bag of cookies away, and opened a direct channel to Engineering Bay, taking immediate initiative.

"Bring up the Combined Field System now! Change the settings, 80% fire power projections, 20% defenses, and have the CFS splinter the cannonfire. I will monitor hull integrity in case the enemy tries any breaching tactics, captain. If we could slow down the advance, even if they were to board our ship, we could control the flow to be easier on anti-boarding."

Already a wound up coil of nerves, Yama sprang into action as the briefing was unexpected cut. The short Nekovalkyrja moved across the bay with haste, beginning to spout orders as the warning message faded. "You heard it! All troops, in defensive position immediately!"

The little red-headed red panel found her way naturally to the daisy in the middle of the row, worming herself into the green armor. A snug but engineered fit, she sealed the helmet of the Daisy before stepping off the rack with ease. The Daisy had already been equipped with two cylindrical fuel tanks behind the shoulder hard points, with black hoses running from their bottom valves into the input for a holstered flamethrower. One tank was labeled with a fire hazard warning, and the other unlabeled. Who knows!

One could almost hear a light grumble as the team leader briefly checked their armor holster for their Si-Zi revolver and extra rounds. Matters like this called for a little extra precision and didn't permit burning the entire ships oxygen supply, to her dismay. The armored Nekovalkyrja pulled the flamethrower off, bringing it around to her front as she walked and gave the valve a little bit of pressure to test it.

One could hear a hiss of gas before a small puff of flame burst to life out of the vented nozzle. Just as quick as it came, it flickered away. Twisting the valve the other direction, she kept the flamethrower within reach, ready for anything. "Ready!"

YSS Shinigami, PA Bay

Bryn blinked in confusion when the briefing was suddenly cut, though confusion turned to fear when the MEGAMI put the ship on alert. "Well, crap," she said, before she bolted to the rack where her Daisy was waiting for her. Didn't think that we'd be fighting so soon, she thought as she jumped into her suit and started booting it up. Oh well, probably better this way. Don't have the time to be nervous. Shaking her head, she put her helmet on and picked up her rifle and flicked her wrist to test the additional blade.

I'll make sure to do my family proud,
the Neko thought, before she said, "Santo Hei Nishizaki, ready to go."

Upon fully understanding what was going on, she turned to her charges and barked something about "Do you want to live really forever?" How many that actually heard her over the commotion is anyone's guess as the rest of the infantry seemed to be on automatic kill mode right now as they went for their power armor.

Akira was no different, as she rushed to where her armor was stored. Not having the time to strip down to be comfortable in it, she just tosses her shoes into some storage container she partially hopes will remain and proceeds to don the armor. Once the helmet is on, she initiates the startup process and starts checking up on the ready statuses of the infantry wing.

She proceeds to make it to the front of the queues for the catapults that would be accelerating them off. While waiting for the formal green signal to proceed, she turns to them.

"Some of you are green behind the gills. Some of you are seasoned vets that know the feeling of winning this little deadly game of tag. Keep your head on a swivel and look out for your wingmates. It is together that we gain strength and it is together that will crush those that oppose us." Akira says in an attempt to rally them before the shooting and chaos begins. Though this was never one of ther strong suits. "I will be the first one to enter the fray and the last one the leave it." ((OOC: I am too damn tired.))

The chaos of the sudden attack was soon brought under control, as the Mindy armors that broke away from their storage racks were promptly picked up by the members of the 100-strong Orochi Wing, with its members in various states of undress as they hastily donned the upgraded PA and configured their standard weapon systems. The most veteran Neko among them in 1st squad, well-trained by Kurosora-heisho, had already managed to suit up completely, grabbed their Saber-Rifles, and were filing in behind Akira-shoi to be the first onto the elevator platform. "You heard the commander," barked the red-haired Kim over the comms net as it started to synch with everyone else's, "Our squad is always 1st in, last out! Let's put these ghosts to rest for good... Go, Go, Go!"

Once the first lift was full with its load -- among them Kikyo, Yuuki, Hayami, Jamie, and the blue-skinned Shasse -- there was a clank as it rose up into the long, thin chamber above them that was the subspace catapult launch. Its system's coils were undamaged by the attack, and their telltale hum was already starting to be heard as the ship's reactors fed power quickly into the array for an immediate firing. They would soon be the living bullets of the room-size gun, projected at FTL speed across the heavens right through whatever shields the monstrous battleship had active. It was jarring for some fresh faced 99-ers, and exhilarating for other veterans, who had already started to engage their hovering thrusters in anticipation. That moment before they launched seemed to last forever... as the charge in the air made the fur on their ears stand on end, even through the armors.

<MEGAMI> "Subspace catapult charge complete. Firing in 3....2....1...."

Fighter Launch Bay

The Mamushi that broke from its chocs & tethers in the jarring ambush and careened across the bay belonged to "Tinkerbelle" Shii, leaving the pink-haired Neko chasing it down and cursing her laziness the whole way at not securing it properly before her recent catnap on maintenance time. "Cookies" Miyoshi helped her and together the two freed the fellow pilot who was pinned against the bay wall by the wing of the starfighter. At least noone was injured too badly, with most of those in the way able to hover and dodge, as the remaining pilots raced to get into their suits and seats of their own starfighters, late joiners to the queue behind the first wave Ume, Kishi, the Siskos & Sargas who had taxied to the heavy-duty elevators and were promptly lifted into the catapult system runway reserved for the ship's vehicle complement.

The voice of the gunship's XO came across their comms, the wisteria-skinned Nekovalkyrja pleasant in tone but also with a sense of urgency about it. "This is Hashimoto-Taii, manning mission control. Heartbreak Squadron, you are clear for immediate launch into the battlespace. May Chiharu watch over you." The blessing from the former samurai-trainee was accompanied by the lowering of the protective forcefield... nothing stood between them and the blackness of space, now.

The tall, blonde-haired legionnaire bowled over by Sora's grandiose patrician wings was seeing stars for a moment, as the rest of the huge detachment of Ninth Legion dispersed to suit up into their assigned Daisy II power armors that lined the walls in neat racks. Unlike the Uchuugun infantry members of the vanguard, they were not under direct assault just yet and could take the time to properly prepare themselves to secure the large Sharie's various compartments. Still, a lot of the members were fresh and green, forcing the platoon commander Fukujima to lose time directing the heishos under her to double-check everyone's gear, the cook Miko and medic Miles among them.

Since the imposing, flamethrower-wielding Yama's group seemed the most ready to go, the officer gave her an order. "Moesashi-heisho, take your fireteam of Arinori, Nishizaki, and Himemiya and proceed to the lower tower deck patrol route. Its the farthest away, and you are the first ones combat ready..."

"So, is that polite speak for 'I'm sending you troublemakers where I don't have to deal with you'?" telepathically murmured the snowy-haired Santo Hei Himemiya Kiyomi under her breath to Yama as she donned the helmet of her Daisy with a *fwoosh*. It was a well-known fact their whole unit was a little less-than-respected amongst Ninth legion, but their little team in particular tended to always get the worst postings. But just maybe this would be their chance to change that reputation.

"That would be perfect, Emiko-hei.", Hayami said in response to the blue-skinned Neko who had approached her from the side. "Kikyo and I will be right behind you, I need to take care of something first...", she added softly, as she turned to Kikyo and placed a hand on the shy Neko's chestplate. If anything, the raven-haired Nekovalkyrja seemed to need a small pep talk before jumping into the catapults. Hayami was clearly the more assertive of the pair, though through no desire of her own.

"Keep your head up, stay focused, stay in sync, and have no fear.", she stated calmly to the shy Neko. "You are more experienced than many of us here, including me! Take comfort in that, okay dear? You are a blooded Neko...you're gonna do great.", Hayami said calmly, a soft smile crossing her features behind her faceplate. With a consolatory nod, Hayami let go of the raven-haired Neko and floated herself into the lift. As she was lifted into the subspace catapult launch, Hayami felt a surge of hemosynth rush into her cheeks, while the fur on her ears tingled in anticipation. The sensation on intensified as the voice of MEGAMI ringed into her skull, informing her of the completion of the charge and the beginning of the countdown. The magenta-haired Neko did not know exactly what she was feeling, whether it was trepidation, fear, elation, or even ecstasy.

Just as her muscles tightened and strained against the hemosynthetic insides of her armor, the countdown ended and Hayami felt an exhilarating surge flow through her body as she was launched into the void. For a few moments, Hayami only saw blue light. However, the vision was fleeting. Just as quickly, the light disappeared to give way to blackness...

Mikodimus was still getting use to being a part of his new crew. His charming personality was still the same as before. Which meant he was busy trying to keep the commanders off his butt acting like just because his rank was low didn't mean he didn't know how to work a mindy. He put up with it and rolled with the commands as he suited up.

It was odd that he had not heard back from Sora before getting assigned to his new post. After she was reassigned at the suggestion of his older brother to get away for awhile decide to take on a new mission. He heard the calling for this new frontier fight and quickly signed up. It was odd how quickly this happen but didn't think much of it. Even if his brother might of pulled some favors to clear the paper work to make this a thing.
