RP: NovaCorp/Horizon City Visit

"I don't think anyone can be sure of Ephesus motivations, he does things for a reason certainly, but beyond that its completely uncertain. He's a great inventor and scientist, and a great man to be around, but he's ... unpredictable, and, as I'm sure you'd notice if you met him ... just a little eccentric. But do you think you can really understand anyones motivations unless you are a mind reader?" Kip asked.
 
"Well, someone's intentions can be given away by more than just their mind," Harm said, "Sometimes by just talking or showing up one can understand a lot more than what is simply on someone's mind."
 
"Agreed, I can read someones intentions to a degree through the sampling of the pheremones in the air, heart beat, breathing rate, body language, and half a thousand other factors, which I don't do on you due to that whole 'Not scanning' agreement we've got going, but on Ephesus ... they don't really work. His behaviour can change radicly, and his body language, his very sent, seems to bare no relation to his mood. And talking to Ephesus is not easy, he tends to dumb down his conversations when talking to normal people, and I honestly think that he thinks language is a limitation. His mind works faster than his voice can relate." Kip said again, wondering how they'd managed to get into such a conversation about Ephesus (although he recalled the whole conversation), although this did not show in any way on his features. One of the nice things about controlling your image.
 
"I'm not in the habit of forgetting things." Kip smiled gently, "Technobable suggests its use to alienate someone, which I don't think Ephesus does really. He does use a high degree of specialised lexis certainly, but I think that's because he just wouldn't consider speaking in layman's terms unless directly asked to. Equally so, I wouldn't say he was illogical, just that his logic isn't quite the same as other people ... each person has there own type of logic. Myself? I'm a 'computer' so logic has a slightly different meaning. As for meeting him, he might come back to the Horizon at some point, but he seems happy to stay on the Destiny or Nepleslia at the moment. I could always arrange transportation for you to meet him of course, but I doubt you're willing to go that far out of you way."
 
"I can't leave this area just yet, even if it seems like I will be heading out shortly. Perhaps Nepleslia is in my future.â€
 
"Me?" Kip looked shocked at the meerest suggestion, "Would I do that? No, it's far more amusing to simply remind you of it now and again." Kip chuckled, "So why do you think you'll be heading out in the near future?"
 
"Perhaps it's time to break the trend then. You have a good position here, a steady job, a nice place to live, and most importantly my company." Kip wasn't serious about the last comment, "And unless you want to go into a combat situation what more could you want? And things change, they have to, causality insists upon it, and the universe does apear to be never ending in one form or another. But I don't really see how that prevents someone for settling down longer than a few months."
 
"Well, universal expansion means that if you want to stay where you are you have to keep going faster and faster.â€
 
"Understood, the mysteries of the human heart are not one that are going to be plunged even by this humble AI. Still I would prefer it if you didn't move on, I'm sure that my existence would be duller without you onboard the Horizon. If not for me do it for the other people, imagine the tricks I'll have to arrange to make up for loosing you!" Kip grinned wickedly.
 
"Well, it is starting to sound like the saftey of this ship is dependent solely on my presense," Harm said, her voice dripping with a half hearted sarcasum.
 
"Nah, your loss, though devastating, would not be sufficient for me to actually endanger to lives of people." Kip smiled, "I have duties that I must fulfil, and which do not really allow him to endanger the lives of my crew needlessly, even in the seeking of amusement, for myself or them. It limits me certainly, but is necessary. But do be assured that your presence makes sure that I need not pull so many pranks. Why, occurrences of reversed gravity in the halls has decreased exponentially since you arrived.â€
 
"Well, I guess I have acomplished something in the time I have been here," Harm said.
 
"That if nothing else, I can't claim to have been the only one to be impacted, or to have observed your every moment (actually I haven't been watching your movements, part of that whole not-observation), but by the way all people's actions interact, and have an impact, I can say that your time here, as anywhere, has caused an effect, and as long as that effect has been positive (which I don't doubt), then you have accomplished something. And I'm sure you would continue to accomplish things if you stayed here." Kip said.
 
"Perhaps, but I'm sure my talents can be used elsewhere. There is always something, somewhere, that needs attention." Harm said, again pausing for a moment. "Well, if it is any comfort to those who dislike having gravity disagree with them, I don't think there are any final plans for our leaving."
 
"Well, that is definintly a first. I don't think I've ever been rewarded with applause before." Harm paused for another moment before continuing, "I don't think anyone has said that about my selflessness either."
 
"Well if you are motivated by a need to go and help people, or things that require your attention, at the exspense of a stable life, then yes I would call you selfless." Kip replied, "To be a wanderer, which seems to be the destiny you have fitted yourself into, constantly looking for things to do and fix."
 
"I have the feeling it is the other way around, destiny has fitted itself to me," Harm said.
