Year-End Festival Winter-Nights Solstice Spectacular: The Ice Palace! (YE 46)

Winter-Night Lights Pavilion
Lynira

"Oh no, it definetly is time to unwind," Lynira said, playfully tossing a snowball at Endrol. They were off duty and about to have their hands full setting up an embassy in Yamatai. Now was the perfect time to let off a little steam before getting elbow deep into work. "What do you want to do to unwind?" she asked Endrol as her onyx-colored eyes looked over the joyful crowds gathered. It was such a change of pace from the whirlwind that had unfolded for her over the last few months. Here people were safe, they were celebrating the holidays and it brought a smile to Lynira's face to see.

Lynira knelt down to form up another ball of snow, the hem of her dark green little yule dress brushed the ground. When she stood bouncing her newly formed snow ammo a strand of aqua hair from a messy bun atop her head fell into her line of sight. Deftly she tucked it behind her slender pointed ear as she eyed up any who might want to join in on the snowball festivities.

Endrol

"Oh we do, that is good to know." Endrol turned to the now familiar voice of Lynira, he was going to be working with them, so best to be polite, turning though was his mistake as the snowball that was playfully tossed at him, got him square in the face. He wiped his face as he chuckled "good shot, and unwinding, I was use to sparing with someone, helps release frustration and could ease the body." He shrugged as he looked around "too dangerous out here, too icy and also too many people, but there is something else we could do..." With this he bend down and scooped up some snow "lets see how well we can work as a team." He stood closer to the woman and looked around as he got ready with his snowball,

Katsuko

Katsuko laughed, the sound mingling with the crisp winter air, and tightened her embrace around Akina. "Absolutely, she won't see it coming," she replied, her voice filled with mirth as she brushed a few strands of red hair from Akina's face. "Let’s make sure it’s a snow job she'll remember fondly!" Katsuko’s eyes sparkled with playful scheming, reflecting the joyous chaos of the festival around them. "First though, let's explore a little," she suggested, grabbing Akina's hand and leading her off the stage.

Cheol

Cheol nodded thoughtfully, appreciating Mikael’s question. “Good question,” he responded with a hint of gravity. “The Craethel are indeed an enemy from where my people originate. They wear exosuits, and every time we've managed to open one or breach it, the contents inside liquify, leaving us clueless about their true appearance.” He paused, scanning Mikael's expression to gauge his interest.

“If you’re intrigued and wish to delve deeper into this, perhaps we could schedule a time to discuss it further,” Cheol suggested, shifting the conversation back to the lighter atmosphere of the festival. “For now, let’s enjoy the festivities here. Would you like to go in for a drink?” Cheol’s invitation was casual, offering both a momentary escape from their duties and a chance to foster friendship. Yet he noted Mikael's name mentally, as a possible soldier to vet for missions associated with his unique department.

Ice rink

Setsunu had put on her skates and had done a lap of two around the rink but her heart just wasn't in it. She made her way to the edge and just watched the others. Reika had slipped and had dragged Amane and Aimi down with her. When the others came to help them up, they all wound up on the ice. Laughing hysterically at each other. Setsunu smiled at them. She was glad that they at least were enjoying themselves. She caught sight of Trowa and his family, although they hadn't noticed her. Trowa was Thomas' cousin to some degree. It was beautiful watching the family be together, but it was also reminding her that her own family was not here. She could feel a lump forming in her throat and fought to keep it away. She was trying so hard not to show any emotion that she didn't even notice that someone had come up behind her till they wrapped an arm around her waist. Setsunu just leaned into the embrace and lay her head against Thomas' shoulder.

"Trowa's kids are getting big." Thomas said. His voice was quite, as if he was afraid to speak to loud that his own emotions would come pouring out. "They are. They're quite happy to see their father. Caffran and Sanda were also just here a moment ago. They look as love struck as they did this time last year when they got married." Thomas managed a smile. "We should be thankful that we both serve on the same ship. We get to see each other whenever we want." Setsunu also managed to smile.

From the ice rink Raijin called out. "There's Calandri!" The gaggle of girls went over to their four-armed sister-in-arms. "Oh it smells good!" Raijin was the cook of the group and had a nose for such things. The girls laughed at Calandri's comment about not having to go hunt for their food. "Oh please." Reika teased. "You loved every moment of it. Hey, after we eat, we should go check out that booth and enter the raffle for that Misha-Class Explorer! With all of us entering I'd say we'd have a pretty good chance of wining it."

Yoshiro was having a good time now. He threw the snowball at the person who had spoken to him, only to get hit in the face and to get his revenge he threw his snowball in the general direction of the snowball that hit him. "You have just made an enemy of the Star Army of Yamatai!" He said in a silly and overly dramatic voice and threw a bunch of snowballs in the general direction of the snowball that hit him.

Itazura

Itazura's eyes widened when she saw a snowball fly past her, hitting Yoshiro. Her jaw dropped, then she heard Akatski's voice. Cautiously she looked up and to the side, seeing her sister right next to her face. When she got surprised with a kiss on the cheek Itazura squeaked just a touch, a light blush blooming on her cheeks. For a moment she froze, it was just a moment. Though it was long enough for one of Yoshiro's snowballs thrown their way to hit her square in the chest. Itazura gasped, shivering to get all of the snow off just in time to be hit with another. "Sister, we may have to wait for those burgers just a few minutes," she said while kneeling down and dodging some of the other snowballs. "You thinking what I'm thinking?" she telepathically communicated to Akatski as she formed two more snowballs. Standing up she dashed to the left, throwing one snowball Yoshiro, then she tried to run up behind him to toss one at his back.

Lynira

Lynira's ears twitched when she heard that Endrol was used to sparring. It was something that she had been fond of as well, but had not done in some time. She shrugged while looking around, "We can spar sometime, for now we test out our team work." A playful grin spread across her face as she stood closer to Endrol, armed with her snowball.

Aelya & Chanyeol

After having received their frozen cocoa, Chanyeol had found them a little spot to sit just a short ways from the vendor. With one hand Aelya held her frozen cocoa, the other held Chanyeol's. "Here we go," he said slipping onto the bench at their little table, patting the spot next to him while looking at her. Swiftly she slipped in next to him, almost spilling some of her beverage. Chanyeol chuckled a little bit and gave Aelya a sweet kiss on the cheek, "You're cute," he whispered with a smirk on his face.

Akatski dramatically widened her eyes as the target of the snowball she and her sister threw the snowballs at, claimed rather dramatically that they made an enemy of the Star Army. She giggled a little, with a big grin on her face unafraid since she knew he was only playing. Her grin grew to chesire lengths as Itazura said that burgers will have to wait for a few minutes. Indeed she agreed and she knew exactly what her sister was thinking. Akatski dropped to the ground as she too formed two more snowballs, and while her sister threw the snowball at Yoshiro, and attempted to get behind him. Akatski tossed her own at Yoshiro, to distract him and keep his attention on her.

The D3's were out in force today, many had little shops ready to go selling Food nick-knacks, little games one could play to pass the time. Some even were out making Snow and ice Sculptures of D3 and D4, and many were wearing festive clothing, everything from beast D3 Delux were out to make the day a fun one for as many people as they could. many were also doing little stage plays, they were voiceless of course but they had D3 on the sides who had long sticks with signs attached to work like word bubbles for the characters, and they all worked together to put on interesting shows.

They had even set up Tomato Tower! the large tower obstacle course used for entertainment and feats of skill and merriment! and scooting around the place were D3 dressed up as colored baubles and Tomatoes handing out fliers about their stands and attractions tot he people in the park.

There was even a Beast reindeer D3 with a glowing red nose just for the occasion being used to gather attention as an attraction as it pulled a tour sled with other Reindeer D3 and another D3 in the sleigh was handing out little hand made gifts to everyone it passed by.

The D3 were very much enjoying the festivities though it seemed on more then one occasion that a D3 Diminutive or Diminutive Extra would be picked up and treated like a plushy by a child, though apparently they didn't seem to mind at all as they would simply play with the child and keep them company. where all these D3 were coming from though was anyone's guess.

There was even Plant Conifer D3's scooting around as decorated trees to make the place feel more magical!

Mikael

Mikael listened intently to Cheol's response, his inquisitive mind ready to receive novel new information. It always gave him a positive brain response. But it was quickly replaced with disappointment that he was not going to get a whole answer immediately, though he was careful to make sure that expression was not discernible on his face.

"You are correct, follow up questions are a habit I have picked up from earlier in my career. I would like to pick this up later in a more appropriate setting. They sound like an issue I should be aware of even if the Star Army has not encountered them yet." Mikael said before shifting his body, accepting the senator's offer. He gestured towards the destination area for drinks in a manner similar to what he did in his close protection specialist days, respectful but ready to shield against the increasing volley of stray snowballs being flung around.

A group of soldiers were exploring the venues together, laughing and thoroughly enjoying themselves. They all had on different color uniforms, showing that they all were of different occupations. But all five woman wore the same unit patch marking them as the Angels of Death. They were all heading for the ice-skating rink. Raijin and Tsuki already had their own skates but the others could rent a pair. They were planning to meet some of their other squad mates here. "You think they'll get her to come?" Asked Amane, a short blue haired neko and the only officer among them. "If anyone could convince her it would be Haruka and Michiru. They've know her the longest." Responded Aimi. She wore the black uniform of a SAINT operative which contrasted with her flowing golden hair. "It'll be good for her. She needs to get out and enjoy the celebration. It'll also be a way to show her we're all behind her." Tsuki said as her large white Elysium wings fluttered. Reika brushed her long, raven black hair out of her face and pointed. "There they are."

Coming towards them were three tall woman. One had blonde hair cut super short with a red uniform. The second had long wavy teal hair that matched her green uniform. The third wore a white uniform with three red chevrons on her sleeve. She was holding a staff with green wreath wrapped around it and two small bells at the top. Everyone knew that it wasn't an actual staff but volumetrics that hid Kuronosu, Setsunu's spear.

"So, did you have to drag her kicking and screaming?" Tsuki asked, making the other girls laugh. But the laughter fizzled out as Haruka and Michiru exchanged a look and Haruka raised the back of her hand to her mouth and then look at it. The kind of movement one might do if you were checking to see if your lip was still bleeding or not. "Screaming? No. But there was a good bit of kicking." Setsunu said. Her tone was friendly, but everyone could see how her purple eyes seemed dimmer as they sat on her beautiful dark skinned face. Raijin spoke up. "We know it's been a frustrating last few months." Setsunu's twin daughter's shuttle had been ambushed by the Mishhu. Everyone aboard had been killed but their bodies weren't recovered. It was believed that they had been taken prisoner but there were no clues as to where they were. Setsunu and Thomas, the Wakaba's Captain, had been devastated and consumed with finding them. But as the months grew, hope had begun to diminish.

Setsunu sighed and when she smiled it seemed genuine. "I really appreciate your all's effort to cheer me up. And you are correct. Getting out will do me some good. Lets go ice-skating. I know Raijin is just dying to get out there and run laps around the rest of us." Everyone laughed and headed to the ice rink.

Ice Rink
Trowa watched in amazement as his daughter zipped around the ice like a pro. Had she really grown up that much in so short a time? Was he missing out on his daughter growing up? It was one of the things he had to sacrifice in order to served in the Star Army and make sure that she could grow up in peace. He looked down at his son skating between him and his wife. A huge smile on his face as he held his parent's hands and glided across the ice. He looked at his wife, Estrella, and the big starburst tattoo over her eye. Trowa knew that she would prefer to have her husband at home more often but she understood. She kept herself busy between the kids and running her restaurant. For now, she was just savoring having her family all together. Estrella smiled as she looked over at another couple who had skated up and were holding her daughters hands.

"Higher Aunty Sandi! Higher!" Little Elanor Aeon squealed. Sanda and her husband Caffran swung Elanor Aeon up into the air between them. Her delighted laughter seemed to echo across the ice rink. "That's enough for now. Go show your papa that spin you showed me." As the little girl sped away Caffran skated closer to his wife. He cut hard on the ice, spinning Sanda around and pining her against the wall. Sanda's smile was quickly covered as they kissed. "Why don't you two get a room?" Estrella teased her sister as she skated by. Sanda and Caffran just looked at each other, neither able to stop smiling as they kissed again.

Sanda couldn't believe that this time last year Caffran had suddenly said that they should go ahead and get married. Sanda had sent a message to the Empress during the Empress' make a wish. Less than a week later, Sanda had a beautiful, lightning blue wedding dress and was married.

Finally, Sanda pushed Caffran away from her. "I'm getting hungry. Lets get something to eat."

The couple turned in their skates and moved away from the rink. Both were dressed in their class A uniforms. Sanda had insisted on wearing wearing her finest. She had so few opportunities to wear all of her awards. Sanda's chest was literally covered in ribbons. She had had quite a busy career so far in her few short years in the Star Army. Service, Rescue, Explorations. But the ones she was most proud of was the combat awards, especially her Yui's Blood medallion and the Order of the Blazing Sun.

Caffran held her close as they made their way through the crowds. Sanda had her head resting on his shoulder but she suddenly stood upright as she caught sight of someone. "Hey Solo!" She called to Zaven and Sakuka. They were her crewmates but had been on leave the last month or so having a baby. "Oh what an adorable little boy!" Sanda exclaimed as she moved over and took the baby in her arms. She then made a teasing face as she looked from the baby to his father. "I'm so sorry Zaven. It looks like he takes after you."

Hearing the words from a rather good friend he gave a soft chuckle. Caffran and Sanda came up to them and gave a little entry to them "Ah I was wondering when I would begin to see the Stormtroopers." He said with rather quick comeback as Sakuko gave a light laugh with how they approached. Zaven was thinking on how the greeting went as first he had not heard those words in a minute or 43,000...or something like that. Secondly though, the communication with all of them was a little slim with all that transpired. Sakuko was happy though as she rose Tatsuo's little hand to Caffran and Sanda and made a wave for the little boy.

Once there and the little compliment of the child said aloud Sakuko did not blush as he was held. Then the little joke was said and it caused some laughter with Sakuko and well, probably with those that heard. Zaven just gave a slight smile but was not given a chance to answer as he was interrupted. "Well he is not like his father yet, he actually plays around with some of the models that Zaven built or laughs at some food before making a mess." She then leaned in and told Sanda that she makes Zaven change him a lot, and clean more than she does. Yet she then then goes to Zaven and gives him a kiss on the cheek...which actually makes him smile and blush a bit.

Yoshiro was returning fire as best as he could but being easily distracted by the attack from behind he was hit by a strike from a snowball to the face. "I am hit!" He cried out dramatically and fell to the ground. "I have been snowballed for the glory of Yamatai. Tell my family I loved them." He pretended to be dead in a rather silly way and tried not to laugh.

Itazura

A sound of pure unadulterated joy echoed from Itazura's lips when she witnessed Yoshiro's reaction to the sisterly onslaught. "Good teamwork!" she communicated wirelessly to Akatski. Immediately she dashed over to his side and knelt by his face as she gently began wiping off the snow. "I'll be sure to tell them you served Yamatai well," she said to Yoshiro in a playful tone. Itazura offered him her hand to help him up, not that he'd need it. This opened her up to more snowballs from all snowball fighting parties involved.

Getting up with her help he laughs. "I forgot how much fun this was. I have not done this since joining the Star Army." He said with a grin. He hadn't felt this happy in so long. "Thank you for the snowball fight. It was as if i was a child again. Oh crud. I forgot to introduce myself. My name's Yoshiro Tanaka, Joto Heisho on the YSS Resurgence." Yoshiro said and bowed.

Akatski could only giggle as she worked well with her elder sister, in teaming up against Yoshiro. She could hear the unadulterated join from her sister which only pleased her greatly. Yoshiro’s reaction though practically tipped her over the edge due to his silliness. “Agreed, we will tell them, that their family member was a brave warrior.” she said with a big chesire length grin on her face as she watched her sister gently cleaning the snow off him like the kind girl she was.

Akatski smiled at Yoshiro, as he spoke, thanking them for including him in the snowball fight. “the pleasure is ours” she said before he introduced himself. “ooh, I’ve heard of your ship, its famous for helping a lot of species. And they helped out with the Second Norian crisis.” Akatski said “I am honored to meet you, Joto Heisho!” Akatski said with a grin “I’m Shimizu-Motoyoshi Akatski, Shoi Kohosei, that’s my older sister, Itazura.” She said with a smile.

Itazura

Itazura smiled, releasing her grip on Yoshiro's hand after helping him up. Then she listened as he introduced himself, followed by her sister's reaction. "Motoyoshi-Shimizu Itazura, pleasure to meet you Yoshiro," she said while returning his bow with one of her own. "Thank you for engaging in snow combat with my sister and I! You honor your family and crew with your prowess," Itazura playfully chimed in. "Honored to meet a member of a crew with such renown in doing good for others! Id love to chat more sometime about it and the family that helped to shape you. Are they here with you?" Itazura responded with a smile and slightly red cheeks. "Do you think we should invite him to eat with us if he's here alone?" she wirelessly communicated to Akatski while looking towards her sister.

As the three talked a decorated Plant D3 scooted over with a tray of hot chocolate and offered them a cup and a flier for the food stands and other attractions the D3's were running during the festival, giving them all a thumbs up as it did so. The tray had several cups on it and it was clear the little Coniferous being was going around making sure eveyone had something warm to drink as a means to spread the fliers around.

a group of bauble Dressed D3 were also scooting along handing out some of the fliers as well, with one dressed as a tomato among them, and this group scooted up to Caffran and Sanda's group to give them fliers as well as drinks and treats that they were handing out to attract attention to the same events the little Creatures were holding during the festivities.

Ice Rink

The Wakaba's crew ate the food and treats that Calandri brought with many a smile and laughter. Even Thomas and Setsunu felt their moods lighten. It was hard not to around these girls when they were on leave. When they finished, Raijin stood up and said in her best Haruka impersonation she said, "Alright ladies! Attention! Dress up that line!" All the girls began laughing hysterically as they tried to line up. "Is that the best you can do? I weep for the state of the Star Army if this is the best you've got!" More laughter. Finally the girls lined up, trying not to laugh. Raijin spun around and saluted Thomas. "Angels of Death ready to move out Captain." Thomas laughed and returned the salute and said, "Very good Heisho, lead them out." "Aye aye Captain. Angels, Move out!"

The girls burst into another fit of laughter as Haruka got Raijin in a headlock and asked, "Do I really sound like that?" "YES!" Everyone responded at the same time, with even more laugher. They moved off in a group, still laughing and teasing one another. Thomas hung back a moment to have a word with his cousin Trowa and his family. They joined the Wakabans as they headed to enter the raffle for that Misha class explorer. Along the way they saw Caffran and Sanda and called to them to join them.

Sanda gave the baby Tatsuo back to his mother. "He's beautiful. You two are very blessed." Sanda looked longingly at the baby. Lately she had had the desire to have a baby herself. But there were lots of complications with that. Both her and Caffran served in two different armies. Who would raise the child? Sanda loved her role on the Resurgence and wasn't quite ready to give that up yet. But time was running out. Service to Yamatai had given her body quite a beating over the years. Loss of limbs, eternal damage, concussions and a unhealthy dose of radiation poisonings had really taken its toll. She and Caffran really needed to talk about it, sooner rather than later.

Sanda's musings were interrupted by several small identical looking creatures handing out flyers and drinks. Sanda had very seen them before and was a little put off by how similar they all looked and how none of them spoke. She accepted the beverage though. Then she saw Trowa and her sister along with several members of the Wakaba's crew. The Resurgence had rescued the Wakaba and so there was a great relationship between the two ships. "I'll see you two back on the ship." Sanda said to Zanven and Sakuko.

Fourteen people and two kids made their way over to the tent where the Misha class explorer was. Thomas, as the highest ranking member of the group, stepped up. "Good evening. We would like to enter our names into the drawling."

Cheol

As they approached the bustling setup of the Tokyo Brewing Company, the Senator paused to accept a flyer handed out by a representative from D3. "Interesting," he murmured, more to himself than to Mikael. He glanced at the flyer with a mixture of curiosity and intrigue. "I wonder who they are," he commented, acknowledging his unfamiliarity with the D3. The Norian then continued walking toward their destination, nodding at Mikael's suggestion to resume their earlier conversation. "Anytime," he responded warmly, "my door is always open for members of the Star Army," he added, his words measured and thoughtful, pending a future discussion with Hanako.

Upon entering the venue, Cheol turned to Mikael with a genuine interest in his companion's preferences. "What do you recommend?" he asked. His previous visit to the Tokyo Brewing Company had introduced him to the Leviathan Lager, but he was eager to explore other offerings.

Itazura

When the D3 approached with their offerings Itazura quickly felt her dress for any pocket that could store the flier. There was none and at the time she was not thirsty either. Itazura politely declined both the flier and the beverage with a smile before returning her attentions to the group. Though she kept an intrigued eye on the little creatures as they scooted.

The D3 that had drinks or Fliers accepted from them seemed to be very happy and continued on looking quite content to be doing their job and being helpful, and more could be seen scooting about helping others, giving drinks, snacks, fliers and playing with the children, and in some cases being carried around like plushies by some, over all the small creatures seemed quite content to make sure others were enjoying the festivities as much as possible, though it was also rather obvious that this meant most of the D3 were working rather then themselves enjoying the festivals. This didn't seem to bother any of them though.

The one that Itazura had refused a drink and flier from seemed to realize she didn't have a pocket and so it nodded and scooted off only to shortly return to her side still carrying her drink and flier while also shouldering a little "reserved" sign staying a comfortable distance from the woman but it made it rather obvious that the drink and flier were reserved for her and the D3 was being helpful in staying near by to keep it ready for her. on top of that it seemed to have grabbed a few decorated packages from one of the D3 being pulled along on a sled for the woman, one Item being a hand crafted bag that would actually match her dress rather well.

The other D3 continued on, and one could even see some smaller ones acting like toy soldiers for some kids in a little play battle while another that looked like a white bunny was being snuggled by a little girl and brushed, the D3 basically being treated like a plushy. it seemed the little creatures didn't mind at all being helpful in any way possible. they were even trying to help out other stalls and little business taking part in the festival so their workers could also enjoy the festivities.
