RP: YSS Imperator [YSS Imperator] Pre-Mission One: We're Going Where Now?

"Taiyou-Chusa, we have a...uh...situation in the Hangar. Directing the feed to you now." A subordinate spoke up inside of Hoshi's head as the message was routed through the ship for her to receive digitally. A moment later, a volumetric screen appeared floating near one wall of the corridor near the airlock, the video feed starting up a moment later. Along with the audio. Plenty of audio.

YSS Imperator, Hangar Bay

LET'S FLY
Across the night sky
LET'S ROCK
And we'll never stop
As long as we have love

Once Ayane had finished inspecting and appreciating her assigned fighter, the announcement bringing her back to reality, she realized there was some sort of disturbance on the other sight of the Hangar. A small crowd was gathered around a certain group of vehicles. Some were crew members, others seemed to be civilians...with cameras? She realized, along with the noise of work and conversation, there was music coming from within the crowd. Loud, somewhat familiar music.

LET'S FIGHT
For what we know is right
LET'S DREAM
If we work as a team
I know we'll rise above

If Ayane was curious enough to move closer to investigate, she'd observe the same scene that was being sent to the Chusa's display. A trio of garishly painted fighters, a Nodachi and two Hayabusa, blaring pop music from speakers as custom (and as loud) as the paint jobs. The crowd was focused on the Nodachi, or at least its pilot. Who was currently stretched out on top of the craft. And wearing a bikini.

If you listen to my heart!
(MY HEART)
Then you'll learn to cross your heart!
(YOUR HEART)
And with a heart shaped crossfire
We'll unleash our desire

Totsugeki FIRE!

"Truly Venus here, reporting for duty~!" The Neko with the positively voluminous hair smiled and flashed a peace sign to the cameras, blowing a kiss towards the Chusa's view, once she'd realized the Imperator itself was also recording her impromptu photo shoot. "I'm so totally thrilled to be your new CAG!" "Like, totally!" A mini with blue hair zipped into view, waving excitedly at the crowd, a huge smile on her face. Another mini, with red hair and a shocking mohawk, soon floated into view as well, looking more reserved. Both were wearing flight suits, as garishly decorated as the two Hayabusa that likely belonged to them.

As Ayane jogged towards the exit, she observed a...musical anomaly. Initially thinking that the noise may have originated from the Music player app on her Star Army Communicator, Ayane attempted to turn it off. Her efforts futile, Ayane realized that the music was coming from within the hangar.

Curiosity gaining the best of her, Ayane negotiated the organized rows of various aerospace craft before she saw the source of the music. A small crowd had gathered itself around a trio of fighters. Preferring orchestra and classical styles, the music was not the type that Ayane normally listened to, but it had an addictive rhythm that made her want to dance, in spite of her shyness.

Preferring to observe from a distance before moving closer to the crowd, Ayane zoomed in her vision and hovered slightly off the floor to see over the swaying bodies of the crowd. The subject of the crowd’s fascination was stretched wantonly atop a colorfully-painted Nodachi assault fighter. Her hair was a voluminous mess of neon pink, brassily spread out around her head. She was wearing a bikini, and from her disposition, seemed to be the center of the crowd’s fascination. Ayane noticed two small mini Neko fluttering about her, and zoomed in even closer to see them. One of the mini Neko had a tall mohawk which was about a tenth of her height. She was carrying a synth saxophone. The other one had short neon blue hair and carried a mini-portable synth drum set, wildly thrashing her head to the beat of the music. Two Hayabusa fighters were parked next to the Nodachi, both similarly painted in garish colors.

Entranced by this ostentatious spectacle, Yamasaki quickly hovered towards the crowd and pushed herself to the front. Her classically trained ear struggled to keep up with the tempo, but soon Ayane fell in with the rhythm and began dancing with the crowd. Near the front, the beat was resounding and powerful, but it only enhanced the experience as the crowd screamed and danced around her, many jostling for position as Ayane had done so previously. After the first verse, Ayane caught on to the rhythm of the music, dancing more confidently as she learned. Feeding off of the energy surrounding her, Ayane sang the second chorus along with the crowd, dancing along the wave of energy that overcame her.

Almost as quickly as it had begun, the song was over. The lead singer ended the song with a pop-militaristic peace sign and a blown kiss toward the cameras and screamed, “Truly Venus here, reporting for duty!”, flashing a photogenic smile as she did so.

“I'm so totally thrilled to be your new CAG!", said the lead singer. "Like, totally!”, added the blue-haired mini Neko. The crowd shrieked with excitement as the two mini Nekos flew around the edge of the makeshift stage, waving as they fluttered excitedly in the air. Ayane joined in, having already broken out of her anti-social shell to dance and sing with the crowd.

Realizing that she might not arrive as early as she wanted to at her designated station, Ayane thought to quickly leave the hangar. However, she decided to stay and briefly bask in the afterglow of the concert as some of the crowd filed out of the makeshift venue, having had too much fun at the spontaneous event to abruptly leave for her station.

The Captain's Right Shoulder

"Oh yeah, I'm good. I was aboard one of these during the last war" Momoya replied with a nod to her head as she rode along on her perch. "Anyways, my stuff's all taken care of and I don't need to hassel the rest of the company while they are trying to settle themselves into their cabins" she said with a shrug.

"So, I will come visit the bridge with you!" she said cheerfully.

Starboard Primary Airlock

Hoshi's eyes widened as her pink cheeks grew even pinker. Such a display! Such a mockery of regulations! Taiyou Hoshi splayed her fingers out in front of her and her toes pointed outwards as she lifted into the air.

Slightly mirroring the captain's words, she said to the Nekovalkyrja Shoi still beside the airlock, "You are to greet and direct all personnel that come through that door!"

Then her hands were by her sides and her heels clicked together to go zooming through the halls.

Hangar

"What...!" Hoshi exclaimed, "Are...!" She huffed, "You three...!" She puffed, "Doing!?"

She flew over to the sultry singer with electric pink hair and a mind of her own. Hovering in front of the idol, she read the look on Truly Venus' face.

In that instant, Hoshi knew. She knew. A mistake had been made, possibly on her part. She re-checked the documents in her head about what would happen with the new personnel today. She checked them again and one more time double checked the information about this loosely scheduled event.

"It was all..." Hoshi couldn't even say the rest of her sentence; she was dumbfounded. Then, recuperating her thoughts, she said in a low, almost inaudible voice, "Who signed off on this?!"

Hangar Bay

As the music faded out, Truly stayed for a few more pictures, winking, puffing out her chest for the cameras, before the civilian reporters began to shuffle aside. Soldiers were leading them towards the nearest exit, crew members slowly beginning to disperse. Their pace quickened as the Chusa showed up in a huff. "Uh oh...I know you wanna meet your new boss, but my boss is here, so..." Tru waved to the crowd with both hands, before shooing them away. She noticed Ayane still lingering behind, giving her a friendly wink before she began to slide towards the nose of the fighter.

Venus hopped off, landing on both bare feet as the two Minis swooped into position near either shoulder, the instruments they had been posing with now stowed with their belongings again. All three snapped salutes, Tru smiling, Crasher vibrating in place and Mel keeping her mouth shut. "Who? Oh, uhm...I guess it was your boss, Taiyou-Chusa!" Her sunny smile only widened. "I didn't mean to bother you...we were supposed to report to Ise-Shoi after we finished here." Crasher nodded, zipping a bit closer. "We're, like, totally friends of her sister, Moemoe-chan!"

Caramel was there to drag the other Mini back into position a moment later. "Sssshh, we're on the clock, it's Ise-Shosa." She grumbled at her friend, the two struggling in mid-air for a bit before straightening up again near Venus. "Uhm...we were going to find our cabins and change before we officially checked in, but..." Tru trailed off, glancing aside at her discarded flight suit, resting on top of some luggage.

Bridge

Kaede's call for coffee was answered by some unimportant Santo Hei from logistics who happened to be near a coffee maker, appearing a few minutes later with a fresh cup. The Captain took it in his right hand and looked to the mini riding on his shoulder, "There are two things that I love most in this universe, a well-crewed and clockwork ship and a fresh cup of coffee." He sipped at his coffee before one of his eyebrows perked up. The Shoi manning the incoming crew on the starboard airlock gave her report,

"Sutoikku-Taisa, all crew members are aboard and loading has been completed. We are all green here."

Kaede responded in kind, "Message received Shoi, return to your post."

The Taisa took another sip of his coffee and looked down towards the pilot's pit at the far forward section of the bridge. He gave a simple nod to the pilot before looking to the communications operator. The comms looked back to her console after looking at the Taisa for a moment. She cleared her throat and spoke softly,

"Gemini Station, YSS Imperator, Requesting departure clearance and vector to jump range."

Space

Shortly after, Gemini Station sent their response via a burst message of procedures, vectors, speeds and otherwise important information. The pilot closed her eyes and leaned back into her chair with her mind and SPINE beginning to awaken the mighty battleship. One by one the engines began to fire and even out, station-side equipment was disengaged and Imperator took her first breaths of her own power in a while. Deep inside the vessel's core in the engineering section, the primary Aether generator commenced her whirring and began releasing her pure energy down the conduits to the systems drawing power.

Bridge

After about fifteen minutes of idling and checking, the pilot spoke, "All systems showing green, disengaging in three, two, one."

With a slight jolt but barely noticeable to the crew, Imperator moved slowly away from Gemini station, her bow turning to point directly away from the station's arms. With the hum of the engines growing in intensity, the ship began to increase in sublight speeds as she approached her cruising speed towards jump range.

Kaede sipped as his coffee again, and spoke to the KAMI with a slightly elated voice, "Hime, send the pilot the coordinates for our rendezvous with the rest of Division Three and alert the crew of our imminent departure." The KAMI responded in a feminine voice that mimicked a Nekovalkyrja's, "Coordinates sent, message sending." Almost as if on cue, the ship's PA system pinged and the KAMI's voice echoed through the halls, rooms, and hangars of the mighty Star Army battleship,

"Attention, All Hands prepare for hyperspace jump. Repeat, prepare for hyperspace jump."

Her eyes fixated upon the posing figure of the lead act, Ayane was in awe at Truly's beauty, spontaneity, and intensity. As the singer looked through the crowd, she seemed agitated upon seeing a particular officer.

Conclusively, the lead singer addressed the crowd: "Uh oh...I know you wanna meet your new boss, but my boss is here, so...". With a two-handed wave and a shooing gesture, the singer and her cohorts began to leave the stage. Meeting Ayane's awestruck eyes, she gave a friendly wink before sliding off her fighter.

Quite simply, Ayane's world inverted itself before her eyes.
