YSS Moirai Mission 1: Readymade

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

Akira continued moving debris in the field, however, slowing down and taking a good moment to scan each piece of debris before moving it with Grav Beam. He was in no hurry to recreate the incident earlier in the day.

He was aware of the situation with the potential survivor, but was fairly focused on the task at hand, what with the current orders and all. The telepathic gasp of surprise, however, made him pause in what he was doing.

Akira began to tap out a new program on his console, this one using the sensory data from the shuttle and the Moirai, to give a clearer look at the debris in the field surrounded the incapacitated ship. He did what he could to eliminate the anomalies created by the Nebula as well as the rampant destruction the war-zone caused, however, he was not as specialized as his sister was in the aspect of computer systems, and knew very quickly when he was in over his head.

"Isuzu, if you have a free moment, could you help me with this? I want a clearer picture of the debris around target." Akira sent a feed of the current sensor information to Isuzu, betting Isuzu would be better than himself.

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

Nodding, though Akira probably didn't see it, Isuzu brought up the section Akira was concerned about and began filtering out the information that they could 'safely' ignore; inert particles below a certain mass and velocity, pieces of debris that were moving away from the target, etc. When she was finished, the combined sensor image was much simpler than the one she'd originally sent the younger Hibiki. "Is this acceptable, Hibiki-hei?" she asked in a businesslike monotone.

Fortunately, there wasn't a huge amount dangerous debris in the area; everything with a high enough mass/velocity ratio to be really dangerous had left the area weeks ago. Of more concern were the potentially reactive objects: however unlikely it was after all this time, some of the strong electromagnetic signatures near or even embedded the ship might be SMX AM warheads that had not yet lost containment.

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

Strelgar sighed as he stretched and finished securing the pod, his muscles felt as if they were on fire. "Safe it now." He told the sprite, as he continued to stretch out his aching body.

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

Renko finally finished cutting down the door, and because of the shuttle sealing the exit, no massive decompression occurred. The door just hung there, suspended where it had been before it had been cut. Behind the large metal door was a dark hallway completely devoid of light that stretched for a ways before forking into two halls.

Galar, monitoring the progress of the two armor pilots said, Proceed when ready, and download a set of the Irim's floor plans so you don't get lost. Be careful and don't go near the torpedo bay; there might be unexploded munitions and theres a heap of trouble we don't want.

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

Kumiko noded to herself, and drifted through the hatch, turning the prototype sensor on, and pinging the survivor. "Ren-san? I've found the survivor on the sensor. I'll forward that to you, and we can overlay that on the Irim map."

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

The map that Isuzu had forwarded to Ren was a complete design schematic, but the dynamic structural analysis diagram that was attached to it was still a bit patchy. Most of the interior blast doors had successfully closed, sealing pockets of stale atmosphere in various parts of the ship, but it would still be prudent to do a safety scan before each door; preliminary analysis indicated that it might be possible to create a path between themselves and the survivor that was not exposed to vacuum, which would make Lyf's job that much easier.

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

"Affirmative. Allow me to go first, I'm trained for point."

Heeding her words Renko pushed the door inside and to the left carefully before taking the lead into the ship. Scanning the data Isuzu had forwarded she instantly noticed the best path, even without the indicators up. One thing Renko had always been proud of was her pattern recognition skills.

"Looks like the life form's in the crew quarters....That way."

Renko pointed in the proper direction as she began to move slowly down the hall. Her sensors at max, looking for any possible danger.

"Hey Lyf-Hei could you link into the pressurized areas and pump some more air in just in case? It's kinda thin in here. Kumiko there's a clear power interface just ahead. Do you still have the power capacitor?"

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

"No problem." Lyf did as Renko asked and pumped more air into the closed off section of the ship. "That should help." Moving around the shuttle, he quickly reviewed the medical supplies he had on hand. I guess it'll have to do until we get back to the ship, he thought to himself as he looked at the small quantity. Taking a seat in the shuttle, he waited for more directions from Renko.

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

Deep inside the ship, although not far at all from the rescuers, was the NH-17. Still occasionally being bombarded with 'rescue' messages, she was far more afraid; they obviously knew she was there and wanted her badly enough to come and get her. It just can't be rescuers, this area of space is teeming with misshu and enough weapons to obliterate star systems. No, it has to be the enemy.

She got to her feet for the first time in about a year, and stretched herself out a little. As she saw it, she was going to have to defend herself and she may as well be ready to strike a blow while she still could. Luckily for the rescuers, she was as of yet unarmed.

As the rescuers neared the final door they would have to open in order to bring back the NH-17 alive, a body of one of the previous crew floated by, her head obviously crushed by some large object.

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

Kumiko sent a terse affirmative reply Ren, and quickly headed over to the conduit, and plugged in the power source. She then brought it online, and ran a short systems check to ensure it was working properly.

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

"Thank you very much Isuzu. This is perfect." Akira tapped up a third program to cross-check the electromagnetic signatures around each object, comparing them to the signature of any known weapon. Hopefully, the search would turn up negative, merely that the debris had been charged in some way.

He reduced the viewscreen to nearly as small as it would go, and continued with moving debris. He checked the progress every couple seconds, much like a nervous mother while her toddler was at the playground for the first time.

One could never be too careful.

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

Fortunately, the power source that Kumiko had brought to the wreck worked well and provided some power to the ship. Unfortunately, it was a small amount of power to supply such a large ship. It turned some of the lights on, but even those were dim, and some of the air started to circulate inside the ship. However, it could not provide enough energy to power up the main computer, and thus the WEIS could not be brought online. This meant that the blast doors could not be opened at all.

Luckily, the circulating air would mean that any life that was aboard the vessel would not die any time soon.

Only one more door stood between the rescuers and the trapped NH-17...

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

"Ok....we have a moment. Assume that the target is unarmored and can be harmed by our sabers. How do we cut the door down without harming the occupant beyond? Regardless of how many doors are left the blades would mess him or her up when they punched through."

Digging in her bag as she spoke Renko found a small arisol bottle and grinned in her helmet.

"Thats why I brought a thermal device."

Renko continued grinning as she used the 'easy cheese' like container to spray a light grey substance around the door edges.

"Hey Akira remind me which kinda detonator to use for thermite?"

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

"My first guess would be just a simple electrical or thermal fuse, but I'm not an expert, so wait for his answer before trying anything. But since there's atmosphere, a thermal fuse should work." Kumiko allowed her armor to come to rest on the floor of the somewhat stable ship, and crouched slightly. She then tapped a quick message out again, and upped her sensor sensitivity to detect a reply. Survivor capable of movement?

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

Akira paused, thinking for a moment. "A thermal fuse, but, you should remember to not use too much. He remember that barn door?" Akira remembered it very well, it was where he had lost a couple fingers at the age of 10.

He carefully pulled more trash away, taking time to avoid the objects with a potentially dangerous signature.

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

"Ya and i remember having to take the blame for it too...." Retrieving the appropriate fuse Renko inserted the device into the gel state termite at one side of the door and stepped well back.

Switching to telepathy she directed at the person on the other side of the door, <Back away from the door! It's gonna get real hot for a few seconds in a moment!>

Giving it a Five count she hit the remote detonator causing the device to start the gel. It lit up bright enough to kick in the suits compensator for light on all the optics. It lasted for another five seconds before the central section of the door fell with a loud crash.

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

The crew saw on the other side of the now blown down door was a nekovalkyrja in tattered clothing, with grime splattered on her clothing and skin. But more surprising than her appearance, was that she was ready to spring. And spring she did, right at the powered armor that came into view first. Renko now had a desperate Neko attacking her armor with her bare fists. While ineffective at damaging the armor, the enhanced strength of the neko was banging the armor around a bit. Growling and yelling, the neko flung herself at the armor again, after quickly backing off the first time. As she attacked, she shouted, "Die you misshu scum! You've already destroyed any chance of me leaving here alive, why can't you just let me die in peace!?"

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

Backing off out of lunging range after the second attack Renko jerked her helmet off and put up a free hand in the direction of the raging Neko.

"Hold! I'm Ittô Hei Hibiki Renko of the Search and Rescue ship YSS Moirai! Were here to rescue you! Be at Peace!" Renko had to consciously force herself to speak slowly enough to be understood and moderate her tone to be friendly rather than how she felt. Her own fear was running rampant due to the obviously psychotically frightened Neko in front of her.

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

Lyf, still in the shuttle, decided to check up on the rescue mission. I just heard the door come down. What's the status on the NH-17?

Re: Mission 1: Readymade

Kumiko was more than a little surprised herself, but she recovered quickly, and followed suit, de-helmeting and identifying herself, then responding to Lyf so Ren could concentrate on calming the neko. "She's, umm, freaking out. Do you have anything we could restrain her with, just in case we can't calm her down?"
