YSS Ryujo, Deck 7
After the CO had dismissed the crew gathered around him, Kakeru turned to the mini-neko floating beside him. "Thank you very much Amatsukaze-sempai, the rock was a wonderful idea for the Ryoju's totem! I would have never thought of it if not for you." The captain looked as if he wanted to talk to the XO, so Kakeru only bowed briefly to the XO as he entered the ship.
At the top of the ramp, he paused in a moment of indecision. To take a bunk in one of the 8 men cabins, or one of the 3 double rooms? Thinking back on the fascinating variety of the shipmates around him, his heart automatically yearned for the larger room with more people to befriend. Unfortunately, his head told him that some of the equipment he used were not for general dissemination, nor were some of his methods and techniques. With a sigh, he turned to Amatsukaze-sempai and said: "I better go ahead first, there are only 3 double rooms in the infantry section and if I don't get there fast, they're bound to be taken up. Thank you for your help, see you at the galley later!"
Launching himself up 2 flights of zero-g passageways at a speed barely short of polite, he raced to the room furthest from the shuttle and PA bays, reasoning that the flyboys and the infantry would head straight for the rooms closest to their work stations first. Seeing the green light on the door, Kakeru knew he was in luck. A quick slap of the door release, a toss of his duffel into the lower bunk, and he dived face first into the bed he just laid claim to.
"Praise the Empress there was no one here." He could just imagine some poor sod in the bunk first getting blindsided by a thrown duffel, then tackled and smothered.
With a semi-secluded room claimed, it was now time to head up to the galley.
