"Sure, I could ticket them but I have my doubts about them actually paying the fine", Rafe replied to Bor's remarks, "And i can imagine being shot is rather unpleasant, its an experience i'll pass on". He walked up to the armor set that was finishing up its final setup processes and he used the data pad on the side of the computer to input his height/weight so the armor would at least pretend to fit. "Well, theres a first time for everything", Rafe said as he looked at the armor set making its final adjustments, "Am I clear for entrance?", he asked Bors.

Hangar

Nenene strapped back into her fighter. She ran a final check of her flight systems, then sealed the canopy. She selected the squadron comm channel between her ship and the others in her flight.

"Let's go" she said over the ship to ship radio and kicked in her fighters counter gravity system. The Ke-V6-1D Hayabusa lifted off the deck, hovering a meter in the air. Nenene retracted the landing gear, checking that all three retracted and folded properly into their storage compartments before goosing the throttles up, putting power into the big twin aether jets. The fighter accelerated forward, through the air containment forcefield and into the cold blackness of space.

Clear of the Soyokaze's hangar, Nenene rolled her fighter to the left, pulled back on the stick and pushed the throttles up to two thirds military power. This gained her some distance between herself and the Soyokaze while the others launched behind her.

"Form up on my wing once you are clear of the ship" she ordered the others, then she switched over to the command channel with the Soyokaze. "Bridge, recon flight is away" she reported to Takeyu.

Shuttle

Chiasa triggered the external hatch. "Pre-flight complete. All systems operating within normal parameters. Ready for launch." Chiasa called out, then turned to Chieko. "Koizumi-Nitô Hei, plot us a trajectory to the moon utilizing the strongest parts of the gas giant's magnetic field. We should be able to use that to help mask our presence." She said and then activated the shuttle's comm system. "Shuttle One ready for launch." she sent to the bridge.

Space

The other two fighters followed close behind, swooping to the left as Nenene set their path. The Nodachi did an entirely unnecessary roll as it turned, as Truly's excited whoops were heard over a private channel between her and the Kawarime. "Woohoo! Feels great to be back up in the air again!" "Totally!" Caramel's fighter zipped along without any sort of flashy maneuvers. "You know there's no air up here..." "C'mon, you know what I meant, Mel. I'm just glad we're not cooped up inside or stuck on cleaning duty." "Totally! I was starting to get, like, super bored." Tart sighed, before they quieted down again, the little burst of nervous energy not lasting too long.

They were all business by the time they caught up to the Hayabusa, Venus moving to her left and Caramel to her right, still staying slightly behind. For all their antics, they were pretty good at their jobs. "Roger that, Purple Leader." Well, mostly business. There was another private sigh from Tart, before she joined the channel the three fighters were sharing as well. "Roger that, Shoi." If she was close enough, she'd be glaring at Tru and elbowing her. Crasher managed to keep her giggles to herself, to her credit.

Moon Town 2 :: Time: Two minutes after launching of the fighters

Elina set up a series of songs to play automatically, to include the propaganda chatter about recycling and being good Mish puppets interspersed with the songs. She slipped out and headed on into the community to see what was going on. Get some news first hand. She had to see the new tech school. Maybe do an interview of the students and staff.

All in all, everyone seamed content living on the edge of technical disaster and under Mish Occupation, even though they had to put up the random patrols. Everyone adapted as long as they had air, water, food, shelter and clothing. And their personal time.

Shuttle

Chieko finished her quick check as the next order came. "Hai," she called out and began pulling an electromagnetic map of the space around the planet from the Soyo's sensors. The scientist also pooled stellar EM data to watch for any changes that the system's primary star would cause to the gas giant's magnetic field.

Thinking back to college, the academic figured that the plasma pockets were the best bet, though scariest option available. Van Allen belts are areas of high radiation in the space around magnetically active bodies; however it was this very fact that made them optimal for non-optical/non-thermal camouflage. Keeping both of those in mind, Chieko began working out an orbit that only required an initial impulse, then used gravity to do the rest of the work. Going this way, the shuttle's systems could be lowered enough to reduce their thermal output, thus decreasing the likelihood of them being detected that way either.

Once the active/predictive calculations were performed, the young Minkan presented the path and silent running suggestion to Chiasa. "That do you think, Juni?" she asked with a little more hope than one ought to.

Shuttle

Chiasa pulled up the navigational calculations and the addition aspects of their flight path. It took only a moment for her to evaluate the work and find it more than satisfactory. Chiasa then initiated a new thread in her processes to determine the optimum shield strength and configuration to protect the occupants from the radiation without compromising their running silent.

As the calculation commenced she gave Chieko Smirk 1, and said, "Good work Koizumi-Hei. Excellent use use of the radiation belt. So long as there are no significant stellar events to change the density, we should remain invisible for most of the journey."

Shuttle

The Minkan was about to get excited about the positive reception until she realized that Chiasa almost smiled. The Juni... nearly smiled. The young scientist went back to basic trying to recall the last time a Juni smiled at all, and each one was not a situation that resulted in a good time.

Being who she was however, Chieko allowed a ray of hope anyway and returned a full smile back. "I'll keep an eye on the star while I can," she offered, "hopefully it will be unnecessary, though."

Space Cold Deadly Space.

Silently the NMX ships started turning towards the fleet. the after glow of their engines siloweted them as they started ejecting battlepods. They race towards the gas giant bring up everything they could to make a fast attack run.

The Shuttlebay

Misato waved the rest of the infantry into the Combat Shuttle. "Come on you Kats you wanna live forever?"

Moon Town 2 ;; Time:: Shuttle flying into the view of Moon Town 2

Elina moved to the nearest eating place and entered the establishment. She moved along with the others in an orderly fashion, looking around as she made her way in line following the person before her. She was lost in thought as she thought about her last transmission she received. Was it a hoax to keep her spirits up or was it a trap that the Mish liked to play. She didn’t know for sure as time ticked away, second by second.

She grabbed her tray and worked her way through the various vegetables being served. It was the daily fare. The assorted veggies that came from Hydroponics daily. Soon she was making her way to the nearest table when Professor Axelworth, who moves to her table and begins to lecture her on the finer points of Hydroponics. As he eats of her plate.

Elina just facepalms and finishes her meager portion minus what the Professor took from her.

After obtaining Bors permission to enter the suit, Rafe got in and entered the final data needed to finish up the suit and headed out to the hangar to get into his units transportation shuttle.

Shuttle

Chiasa noted the reaction of Chieko to her assessment of the Scientists accomplishment of the assigned task. She filed the event away for further analysis. Flight control signaled their launch clearance. Chiasa touched the controls lightly and the shuttle floated off the deck of the Hangar, she then adjusted the propulsion and eased the shuttle clear of the ship. Once they were at the minimum safe distance to she locked the shuttle onto the flight path. She then called out, "Hang on to your butts." using the phrase that Kyo her mentor and friend had always used. She touched the engine controls and the Kuma surged forward accelerating along the projected path, the burn would continue until the shuttle reached the precise velocity the Chieko's flight path required. She relaxed and let the acceleration push her into the cushion in her seat.

Shuttle

Chieko set her chair to face forward just in time to hear Chiasa's comment prior to take off and wondered where that one came from. It was true that every Juni had some weird phrase they liked to say - though they often contained odd, rarely used words that seemed to be grafted into their vocabulary rather than a natural constituent. This, however, was more vulgar than what seemed to be her baseline, and would have entertained the young scientist to no end had the sudden acceleration of the shuttle not interrupted her thought process.

Once on path, the young Minkan looked back over at her leader again - attempting to fit the pieces together of what she had observed so far. The enigma that was Chiasa slowly turned into more and more of a puzzle that the she wanted to solve. One mission at a time, Chieko thought to herself before remembering to watch the sun.

Eventually the shuttle's path brought them behind the planet, cutting off the view of the primary star, and thus making observation nigh impossible. Chieko instead focused on what the gas giant's magnetic field was doing as they moved along until a narrow band RF signal could be detected. The Minkan academic focused in on the signal and began analyzing it, soon realizing it was comprised of a modulated carrier wave and was originating from the moon they were headed for.

"Juni," the young woman spoke up, "have a listen to this." Chieko tuned the cockpit audio to the radio signal, bringing the station's programming to their ears with a decent amount of static due to the local radiation.

Space cold space.

The Escort/Destroyers started firing into the fleet at their extreme range. they were using the Battlepods to shield themselves from the incoming fire of the two Cruisers, the small craft started spiraling around the front of the two enemy ships keeping a blocking screen up. Two of their shots grazed along the hull of the Soyokaze, scoring black lined across the freshly painted plating.

It didn't talk long before a few flights of the battlepods started engaging the fleets fighter screen. Flashes of light and streaks of plasma started lighting up the battlezone.

Gas Giant Van Alan Belt

The Shuttle started to jerk and bounce as it flew through the uppermost of the green gas giant electromagnetic fields. They were invisible to anything unless they had been tracked from the get go, like the Soyokaze had. As the wrapped around to the far side of the planet the Moon came into view. The signal from the radio station started to be clear as day. Though if they left the shielding effect of the Radiation belt, the NMX listening station would pick them up easily. Luckily both the Escort/Destroyers and the Listening post were in a black out from each other. The three Mindy wearing troops were sat in the rear silent, though the two infantry nekos were telepathically bsing about the silly mission they were on.

Dropship

As Misato sat there waiting for the rest of the ground operations team to board, and the green light to launch, she looked over at Rafe. "Exiting isn't it... you going to be able to play real soldier now." she grinned behind her helmet knowing full well the investigator had been trained in both his job and infantry operations.

Bridge

Two ships against a squadron of Yamatai vessels, Takeyu liked the odds but knew better than to be overconfidant. "Concentrate all fire on target one," shouted Takeyu as he tagged one of the NMX ships as the priority target. "Leave our fighters to deal with the battlepods for now, we just need to take out the warships first."

"On it sir!" shouted one of the bridge bunnies as she began to type in a series of commands and started to relay orders to the rest of the fleet.

He turned in his chair, glancing at the composition of the fleet and the location of where their shuttle was. "Inform the shuttle that they have a green light to go. Monitor the activity around them, if any NMX pods change targets then let them know at once and task a group of fighters to intercept."

Another bridge officer nodded. "Roger sir, sending our orders now!"

Turning his attention back to the main screen, he watched as the ship came about and targeted the first NMX; its main turrets came about and locked onto the NMX and then began to lay into it with a flurry of fire.

Ume was a bit slow to respond at first, she had gotten a little distracted with checking up on soldiers but she soon made her way to the combat shuttle. Her excitement was evident in her mannerisms, and if she took off her helmet everyone would see a smile on her face.

Drop Ship

Once inside she took a seat where she could find one and wondered what they might encounter in this battle, she hoped that whatever it might be that it didn't come with too powerful a ranged canon, she never was fond of combating sniper types.

///Dropship\\\

Meiko stepped up onto the dropship and took a seat, she listened to Misato exclaim how exciting this all was. To her however, she had to mentally prepare herself for what she might see down there. The adrenaline had her body tense, and her mind sharp, perhaps Misato had been right about it being exciting.. but at that moment she didn't really care. Things were about to heat up, and she was about to be right there on the edge of the frontlines.

Space

Nenene frowned as she scrutinized the readings from her fighter's sensors. "Well, looks like the jig is up" she commented to herself. "Okay," she said over the radio to her wingmates. "Go weapons hot and focus on the enemy battlepods" she commanded. "Let's see if we can take some heat off the capital ships"

The SAINT operative turned Executive officer frowned even more as she activated her Hayabusa's tactical systems, putting power to the weapons and shields. She was not a combat pilot, her place was in a cubicle, not in combat in a snub fighter. She sighed. Next time there was the opportunity to go out onto the front line she would have to remember to stay home. As the affirmatives came in from her wingmates, she adjusted her grip on the flight controls and ordered her tactical computer to designate the nearest hostile battlepods and mark them up on her Head Up Display.

Red boxes flickered up on the display, indicating the nearest enemy units location, as well as what they were, as far as the sensors could tell, their speed and direction. "Okay, we have a flight of six at fifteen hundred kilometers at seven o'clock high, moving in on the Soyokaze, let's get them. Accelerate to attack speed, stay on my wing"

With that, Nenene pushed her throttles up several stops and felt the Hayabusa's engines kick to high gear, pushing her back into her ejector seat as the small fighter gained speed and clawed it's way towards the enemy.

Shuttle

Chiasa listened to the broadcast, and was unsure what to make of it. It was clearly not a military transmission. But it left a lot of variables, it could be that the people broadcasting it were collaborators with the NMX. Or were they workers forced to serve the NMX. They needed more data to tackle that. But they had a bigger issue the NMX listening post. She analyzed the situation and took into consideration the capabilities of the T8. When she had what seemed to her to be a viable plan she turned to Chieko.

"We have a problem. If we head out from the gas giant under power it is very likely that the NMX Listening Post will detect us. I have an plan, a bit unorthodox.

Here are the details, everyone seals up, we purge the atmosphere, and shut down the Aether generator and leave the backup on stand by. Before we do that we fire the engines one last time to put us on an elliptical path around the moon and then fire the thrusters to put us in a tumble. If we are lucky they will think we are a piece of space junk or debris from the current hostilities. Once we get the planet between us and the Listening post, we power up and head in to land.

Your thoughts?" she offered.
