RP: YSS Eucharis [Mission 27, Part 2] Night on the Beach (YE 39)

Forest

Jax, for the most part, was glad that he hadn't been drop kicked so far. The first clue he had that something was off what when Tsuguka disturbed the sand when she sat. The second clue what when she called him her "blonde little cat boy". If it were a hallucination, she would have never been so expressive, and... flirty?! Wow. He didn't know whether to be turned on or terrified at that point. Fact was, hallucinations of people were based entirely off of your personal impression of them. Tsuguka was clearly shattering his perceptions of her.

"...You... aren't a hallucination... are you...?" he winced quietly, becoming rather embarrassed at having essentially revealed his deepest fantasy to the subject of that fantasy. It was more of a statement than a question. For a few moments, he looked stunned, before rubbing his face in his hands and giggling. Just his luck. On the bright side, his own head hadn't been kicked off yet.

But Tugs had brought up a very valid question: Did he want this? He gazed into Tugs' eyes for a few moments. His... attraction to Tsuguka wasn't like a normal boy/girl relationship in the slightest. She was definitely pleasing on the eyes, but he thought of it in the same way as one might view a tiger. Beautiful, and full of quiet depths that would be an adventure to delve into. Jax knew that she had emotions, contrary to popular belief, and that it would be fun to help her explore those emotions. But make the tiger feel uncomfortable, or pet the wrong spot, and it would maul him. It was dangerous and unfamiliar territory, but it was that danger that drew him.

Like right now. He gingerly placed his hand over hers, ready to pull back just in case he'd come on too strong. He knew she wasn't the best with emotions, so he would tread carefully, and test his boundaries before doing anything drastic.

"I do," he said, never breaking eye contact. "But, if you want to give it a shot, we should probably take things slow in the beginning. We'd both be stepping far out of our comfort zones. Then, from there, we just... go where the current takes us."

His face twisted into a look of annoyance.

"First, I need to come down from this high, and shower, and find the rest of my clothes." he grumbled, his ears flattening sideways and his tail giving an irritated flick.

Forest

Tsuguka didn't withdraw her fingers from Jackson's grasp, but still looked away whilst bundling the opposite hand onto her chest.

With the realization that he wasn't quite as wasted as she first suspected, the red neko wondered if she was just using her own light buzz as an excuse to act out of standard decorum, too. After all, she liked Candon, a model soldier, her inspiration... but he was her direct superior. She liked Mehitabel's shy impartiality and yet robust self-organisational skills... but feared that the attraction only stemmed from certain similarities, to her original red-winged flame.

Was Jax thinking exactly the same thing about her, being nekovalkyrja?

Umeshu was a born samurai, dejected or not. A genetic elite, trained in grace and glory. Created to flourish the soul and win hearts. Tsuguka could only look at her own lineage in comparison, and see that of a grunt, born with a visage molded to scare the enemy, take a few punches, and ultimately be forgotten...

"I'll carry you back... Don't worry, if I managed to heft Rodia-San around, you'll be no problem..." It was a newly reserved tone. Conservative in self-realization, but also tempered from examining this newfound prospect at close range. He had rougher hands than most females. A sterner jaw, wider shoulders, and a big lump at the apex of his throat... Nothing like Suites-Heisho's male-ness, but still startling little details to a person not used to such proximity. So much more youth and free-flowing vitality mixed in, through.

Confusing. Further investigation required.

A fortification of feelings slowly formed... Or, at least, a more solid decision making process.

"The ears, they come from a previous body, do they not? I know that you were Nepleslian..." Yes. There must have been a reason he fell for the mauve pilot. If Tsuguka could just establish cause and effect, then... "Did you like Nekovalkyrja even back then?..."

It wasn't a trap. She wouldn't reject him if it was true. It would just help to define what exactly he wanted. Define what level of emotional functionality needed to be displayed.

Natsumi eyed Ramiro. Her knowledge and experience with alcoholic drinks was pretty limited, like she did not even know what most of the names were that he had rattled off to her. So she shrugged.

"Surprise me" she said to him with a smile, then turned her red eyes to Freyja, who, if her ears served her right, had just called her 'Floofy-taii'

This made the snowy haired neko raise both of her eyebrows. But she was excited someone else felt like karaoke, so she smiled at the other and rested her hand on the machine that she had brought to the party.

"We have like, ten million song options!" Natsumi replied, exaggerating just a little bit on the number of songs loaded onto the machine as she switched it on and brought up it's display, which obediently started listing songs.

"See anything you like?" she asked, indicating that Freyja join her in choosing one.

Jackson's eyes widened a little as he was easily lifted into Tsuguka's arms. Not gonna lie, he felt a little embarrassed about the prospect of being carried back to the party, but the cat in him urged him to relax and enjoy the ride. Hell, when was the last time he'd ever been carried anywhere?

Jax also didn't seem taken aback by her sudden withdrawal into her "comfort zone". He didn't expect her to swoon and act all lovey-dovey, and he would never demand that from her. To do so would be to lose a crucial piece of Tsuguka.

He bit his lip in response to her question.

"Er, well, as for my ears... I was and still am a cat person. I love cats," he admitted shyly, hoping he didn't sound crazy. "I used to watch anime, too. I would see the girls on the show fawning over the kawaii catboy... and... those two things sort of inspired me to change my ears when I was transferred into my Minkan body. Because... I wanted... to look... kawaii."

He said the last word in a really small voice. That had been the first time he'd ever told anyone the secret behind his odd appendages. He instinctively wrapped his tail close to his body, and looked up at Tugs with big, sparkling eyes that held a desperate plea to not laugh at him.

"As for the other thing... Yes. I did like Nekos, but not as, like, a fetish thing. I found Nekos beautiful just like any other girl. I just could never hate them like every other Nepleslian seemed to. I never planned on dating one. When I met Umeshu, it just kind of... happened..."

For an overly-objective thinker like Tsuguka, that answer probably had to be immeasurably frustrating. After all, for every cause, there was an effect. But, sometimes when it came to attraction and romance, there was just no explanation.

Karaoke Bar

"I don't want to sing alone." Freyja pouted. She smiled again when she realized Mehitabel was on board. The sudden feeling of everyone's eyes on her would have bothered her if she wasn't tipsy. She didn't have the concentration required to summon her volumetric bikini again.

The blue catgirl stood beside Mehitabel in all her glory. Her spotted tail swayed back and forth slowly. She held up the microphone and started singing. The powerful, confident voice that came out of her might have surprised some of the people gathered on the beach. She put all of her emotional baggage from the day in her performance.

As she sang, she got closer and closer to the clerk until Bel was against her. Then she came up behind Mehitabel and put her arms around her at the words, "Give him two arms to cling to." She moved to stand beside her again. Her right hand started rubbing Mehitabel's wing affectionately.

Freyja held the last note like it was going out of style. After the music stopped she bowed and turned to Mehitabel. "That was awesome! We need to do this more!" She yelled, picking up the Elysian easily and carrying her off the "stage". She placed Bel on the sand nearby gently and flopped down beside her. In the morning she was probably going to wonder how sand got into some of the places it did.

Beach

Tan Ann Pan backed away from the bar, turned and walked out of view from the fire pit, and sat down somewhere she could listen to the ocean, away from the background noise, without appearing overly interested in watching the swimmers without participating. She hadn't brought another drink or a book to read, but she wasn't sure she was ready to start a new one.

Parties tended to have a great deal of effort put into them, she mused, and that was why most expected to get a great deal out of them. It didn't work out so well from her point of view. She already found herself longing to get back into the routine of training and cleaning, and above all else, working, but there wasn't much work to do here, unless humouring drunk and otherwise booze-enthused crew members counted. She hoped it didn't, since she was more than glad to shirk in that regard.

True, she would also be disappointed to leave the beach without a chance to enjoy the sand and surf, but it was still dark out. She'd never been to the beach at night, before, and it felt strange to her, like a bathroom display with no walls in the middle of a mall garden. It was relaxing, though. She considered taking a look; with echolocation there was no horizon, after all, but on the ocean there wasn't much else.

Beach -> Bar

Takao strummed the last note on his guitar before hovering up to his feet and walking to the rug where his stuff was. He sat the guitar down in a place where sand couldn't get too much inside if he wanted to play again. After that he walked over to the bar and calmly said, "Warm me up, boss," as he equally calmly leaned on the bar while looking out to sea before back towards the fire pit.

Calm Air and Calm Seas, Something is going to happen soon. His mind couldn't help but think that this was all just a run up.

Beach

After a while of swimming around, Hanako waded in towards the beach, shuffling through the mild waves, heavy-feeling water around her legs, and soft, wet sand, until she was back on the shore. The bonfire was putting out a good amount of light now, which was good because that was basically the only light around besides to moon. The long shadows of the crew danced on the sand in the flickering orange glow and a fireplace aroma joined the thick, salty, and humid air of the sea.

On the way back to the fire Hanako passed Tan Ann Pan. "What are you thinking about?" Hanako asked softly.

Forest -> Shuttle

It probably would have looked tougher to just trudge through the dirt, but Tsuguka spared her bare feet from much of the pointy underbush of broken sticks, floating over it all in soft, slow bounds. Cradling a sickly catboy in her arms could have been neat, too, but the odd reorientation spin probably ruined that.

"Well, I guess you succeeded. That face fits the criteria for kawaii."

He wasn't the first to give her that kind of revelation. That was how the stoic woman knew the word. Memories of that slutty catboy on planet 188604 left a bitter taste... No, that isn't fair. They are not the same person. They didn't have the same goals. Perhaps Jax didn't even know what he wanted, but had an honest enough demeanour, even to a fault.

Is that what this feeling was? Did she feel like she would corrupt him?...

The shuttle was here, but she didn't put him down. Nope, fangs found their way around the ear closest to her face, which Tsuguka shamelessly began to gnaw. She squeezed his body to prevent struggling, then licked the affliction better, then put him down...

No smiling. Fierce, unblinking eyes. A fighting pose, but with that tongue still out...

Yeah, Tsuguka was a cat too, alright. The kind that stares at you whilst you sleep and claws your toes.

Relationship test; Would Jax at least wrestle for it?...

"Oh, I could give quite a list..." Tan wasn't sure she wanted to answer Hanako's question directly, scattered as her thoughts had been. "I'm looking forward to tomorrow, for one thing. Not that I'm in a hurry. Did you have anything special planned for this evening?" She sat herself back up straight, turning away from the sea, and folded her hands in her lap.

Shuttle

Jax looked up at Tsuguka with an odd mixture of shock and... arousal?! No one had ever gnawed his ears before. He couldn't believe he was saying this, but...

He kinda liked it!

He had never seen Tugs so... flirty?! Was this how she expressed affection? It was hard to tell. They were polar opposites, and it was a challenge to find out how the other's mind worked. The one thing he did understand, however, was that she had taken up a fighting stance, and that he wanted revenge. He had doubts about his ability to spar while high, but there was no better time to find out than right now! He grinned devilishly, his tail swishing like a cat about to pounce. If the kitty wanted to play, he'd play.

He struck out with his legs, wrapping them around hers, and scissoring to send her to the floor. The thinking was that she'd never actually seen him fight, so she wouldn't be expecting him to. Then, he quickly scrambled to straddle her waist, quickly bending down to nip one of the tendons on her neck. He straightened back up and crossed his arms, looking down on the red woman with a smug grin and eyes and glittered with feline playfulness.

His expression seemed to say: Yeah, I did that. Whatcha gonna do about it?

"Surprise me" she said to him with a smile, then turned her red eyes to Freyja, who, if her ears served her right, had just called her Floofy-tail

"Alright," Ramiro responded with a shrug. He placed the shaker cup on the bar and started pouring randomly into it, muttering to himself.

"Shot of tequila, half a shot of Triple Sec, some white rum, shot of vodka, splash of whiskey..." When it was all said and done he had poured about eight different kinds of alcohol into the glass. Topping it if wit a mixture of lemonade and orange juice, he gave it a quick shake before pouring into a highball glass filled with ice.

"There you go!" He exclaimed before grabbing a beer and handing it to Takao.

"And a beer is always a good warmup."

It looked like everyone was starting to pair off... at least except for Masumi wou seeme to be isolating herself off to the side of things. She seemed to be moving at more of his speed... and he certainly needed a few moments to process everything he had been drinking.

Wazu would end up moving over to where Masumi was, sitting down in the sand next to her and wordlessly offering her the bottle of Moonshine soaked cherries.

There Are No Rules In A Steel Shuttle!

A shrug. Tsuguka ended up pressing her hands against his weird flat chest to keep some of his body weight off of her stomach, leaving her with the disgruntled pouty expression of someone caught completely off guard. Well, that certainly wasn't a standardized piece of training that he had just employed on her. The red lynx would have made a digital note, was she not currently stuck in a really submissive visual angle. The thumbnail would have been embarrassing.

Dextrous fingers made their way around the contorts of his pecks, examining the strange, intimate differences in muscul-

A ruse. The angle gave her the purchase to push his body backwards, as small of a nudge as it was. Yet, somehow, it was more than enough to propel him all the way onto his back! Tsuguka had effectively cheated, using her gravity manipulation to rise both of their bodies straight upwards, without using any limbs at all. One arm wrapped itself around his left thigh, keeping the straddling position intact, whilst her right arm pressed against the bottom of his chin, entirely using his own weight to continue forcing the 'enemy' body upside down!

-Where did you learn that move?...- Telepathic communication. It wasn't an easy hold to secure, as much as her mood had visually seemed to improve. -It was nice, but... Maybe a bit human-y?...-

The hand underneath the leg was still free, just about allowing a grasp of that fluffy yellow tail as well, snagged inward by catching the fur. Squeezing it tauntingly between thumb and forefinger was pleasant.

Okay, now the mood was just a placid smile, not entirely in control of the situation, but enjoying the opportunity to toy with the cute kitty-lad immensely.

The Weirdest First Date Ever... In a Shuttle...

Jax had gone just as red as the woman below him as he felt himself being "examined". Then, the world became trippy as he felt himself being grabbed and inverted.

<My dad was a Marine back in the day. He showed me a few things.> Jax admitted, unable to look up at Tugs due to his jaw being forcibly pushed back. Now, he decided to use a few moves he'd learned while studying ninjutsu. With his left arm, he snaked it under Tugs' right and pushed it up and away from his chin. At the same time, he reach down with his right and pried her hand off of his tail, then upwards off of his thigh. He hooked his left arm over her right bicep and pinned it against his torso. Then, he took his legs from around her waist and wrapped his left around the outside of her right, leaving the remaining leg free.

Using his own gravity manipulation, he flew forwards, pinning Tsuguka against the opposite wall. In his right hand, he pinned Tsu's left hand against the bulkhead as well. Their bodies were pressed together, faces mere inches apart. Breathing heavily from exertion, Jax tilted his head sideways.

<Sometimes, it's good to know a few old-fashioned moves. Hence, why an engineer took down an infantrywoman,> Jax teased telepathically, his mouth never losing that mischievous smirk. Deep down, he knew full well that Tsuguka could crush him if she wanted, but he found it entertaining to try and ruffle her feathers.

<Your move, Tiger.>

Hanako's World
Beach

It was always pleasant to see Wazu and Masumi hoped to prove this to him by smiling warmly. Her light pink lips turned up at the corners and her dark black cheeks rose with them. She nearly let her teeth shine through, but her mouth remained closed, instead. Her blue eyes watched him as he found his place beside her and the combined effect of the firelight and her smile made them sparkle just a bit more than they normally did.

She kept her finger of one hand in the sand and still idly moved it about, feeling the simultaneous grit and smoothness of it against her fingertip.

"Wazu, I get to imbibe with you, again," she said as her free hand plucked a cherry out of the jar.

She pushed the cherry into her mouth and in an instant, her eyebrows had shot up. Her smile puckered and she looked to Wazu with wide eyes, chewing. She finally gulped it down and her white smile was full and toothy before she spoke again.

"Again, another!" Masumi said cheerily. Then, as if telling a quiet secret, she said, "That was fantastic!"

She took another from the jar and let it fall onto her tongue and roll to the back of her mouth before she pushed it over her bottom teeth and crushed it down with the top molars. She swallowed the second one she had taken and decided that was likely enough, for the moment. She made it apparent she was done by exhaling while looking at the fire, then side-eyed Wazu, mouth still agape, a smile on either side of her lips. She closed her mouth after a long moment to speak.

"My thanks to you, Wazu. That was quite nice." She picked up the drink that had been set down next to her by Candon a bit before. Sand stuck to the condensation on the outside of the cup and she had to carefully hold it while she took a small sip. "I thought I would miss Yamatai after being on it and enjoying its comforts for so long, but we seemed to have slipped into something even more comfortable."

Shuttle

Tsuguka audibly winced as she found her torso pinned against the metal wall, shoulders both wedged forwards at an angle under the slightly taller bundle of muscle pressing against her. Teeth clenched and fibrous limbs bulging outwards inside his grasp, it did seem for a moment as if the husky tiger had been defeated, if it was not for one small oversight- The SOCK knife still sitting in the scabbard in the webbing across her chest.

-Okay. You are qualified.- It was hardly the most complex action in the world, so she just sort of barefacedly pulled it out using her mouth, held it sideways, and then stared at him blankly. -So, are we going to escalate this, or are you going to kiss me?-

Being dangerous was basically her vice, so perhaps this really was her 'letting him in', as it were... Fearsome, piercing eyes or not.

Jax let out a small, rather nervous laugh when Tsuguka pulled out a combat knife. He was sure that, despite him having a pretty good grip, she'd find some way to use it on him. Internally, he sighed. What was that he'd said earlier about "taking things slow?"

"O-Of course," he whispered, reverting back to the innocent goofball he usually was. Slowly, he leaned his head forward, and put the knife between his own teeth, then tossing it to the floor. He released his right hand and brought it up to gently cuff Tsu's cheek. Then, he tilted his head sideways and gingerly pressed his lips to hers. It lasted only a moment before he pulled away, being only a small test to see how far he was permitted to go.

Well, considering they'd grappled within ten minutes of starting their "relationship", he wondered if there were any boundaries to begin with.

Bar

The Kohosei took the beer and raised it, "Much appreciated and cheers." He took a long sip before sighing. He looked like he needed to confide but at the same time looked like he might need more warm up to say it himself. He looked out at the seas longingly as if remembering something and in his mind he recounted.

Stood up on Love Day, even after making sure there would be no opposition to it, I still get stood up. Maybe I'm cursed?" Takao sighed and took a swig of his beer and sighed to relieve the remained air quietly. Maybe he could swim, or maybe he could get in on this Karaoke that had been mentioned? Either way, the Kohosei felt small despite his actual age. Sure he was new, but he was still lonely.

Guess all I can do is just keep calm and carry onwards...

Flight-Capable Box Of Weirdness

Tsuguka accepted the kiss, but... Soon went rigid even before it was over, pursing her lips, and then putting her freed hand over Jax's mouth the moment they were separated. She had an interesting expression to say the least, eyes narrowed, nostrils flared, with one brow raised.

"Jackson-Heisho, you passed the test, but..." The voice was a cool and calm whisper, huffing at the end a little. Almost as if the red neko was trying, and failing, to figure out how to laugh. "Your breath honestly might be one of the worst things I've ever tasted, right now. Perhaps you would like to partake in some of the toothpaste I brought in my travel bag?"

Yup, it was in the shuttle, alright. A whole duffle bag of guns and girly products. Was that a type 33 automatic rifle? Shampoo, too...

"Maybe... I should meet you back at the beach, smelly cat..."

Slowly, she pried their bodies apart, then moved to the exit hatch. The lean form of her muscular body still swung back a little, reluctant to leave, but evidently was still going to stick to the right order of doing things, no matter what.

Just a little glance backwards. Still smiling, and it wasn't an arcane-looking fake one.

Then, she just flew off, back into the night.
