YSS Tin Man
A tall, white coffee mug reading 'Certified Nipple-Sucking Instructor' rattled and chittered its way across the vibrating armrest of a chair on a dimly lit bridge. When it reached the edge of the arm rest it tilted slowly and just as it gained enough momentum to tumble onto the smooth floor below and likely shatter, a pair of delicate fingers jutted into the handle and snatched the mug up. Lulu looked down at the black water swirling within it, a look of disinterest crossing her features as she tried to stealthily raise a flask to the edge and liven up the beverage. A pair of significantly less delicate fingers snatched the flask away from her, again just before the container could tumble or spill and Lulu looked up to behold her XO flipping the cap back down and shaking his head disapprovingly.
"Aw, Hon-kun." She pouted, "Lemme just have a little to take the edge off before the big space battle."
"I am unsure whether it be this or fried foods, but you are getting fatter, Captain. I cannot allow you to partake on duty, either." Explained the XO, sternly looking over his boss as if their roles were reversed.
Lulu sighed. Then, she tried looking back up at her XO with an adorable expression, her eyes filled with bubbling pleading and almost-on-the-verge-of-tears disappointment. Kozu did not budge, instead stowing the flask in his pocket before returning to his station behind her. At the front of the bridge, there was a lanky Elysian named Havyd Rizos with bright white feathers sitting at the ship's helm. He'd watched this exchange with an arm resting over the back of his seat. Now that it was over and he wasn't at risk of interrupting the captain's stealth, he called out to her, "Sharidon-Taii, we're in position. Star Fortress Fireside is well outside of operational boundaries."
"Thanks, Riz." Lulu shot back, and then sat up a little straighter in her chair to look over some displays she'd opened. "Persimmon?"
A Neko with bright firetruck-red skin and wild violet hair whose name actually was Persimmon swung around from her seat at the sensor station with a broad grin, answering in a bright soprano voice, "It looks like the Caspar is invisible to direct sensor scans so long as they maintain radio silence."
"Cool. Cool, cool." Lulu nodded, then turned and flicked a finger to the regal-looking Neko with long black hair and eerily pale skin sitting at the Communications station. "What've yeh got for me, Momma Bear?"
"Taii, the Caspar reports that they're in position." Replied the Neko whose name was actually Rumiko Sato, smoothing down brown fur rising on her ears to hide her seething contempt for the nickname, "I will tell them to go to no response right away."
"Okay, alright, thanks, Juni." Lulu rewarded the by-the-books comms officer by giving her a more formal send-off before tapping a few buttons on her volumetric keypad and opening a channel to engineering. Immediately, a Sephara'shan slithered into view in the engine room and rested a massive spanner over one shoulder.
"Enginessss." She said quickly.
"Have you finished those modifications to the CFS, Heisho?" Lulu asked hopefully, not wanting to spare another moment. The space battle was coming, and soon.
"Aye, Captain." Replied the snake-woman. She gestured behind her to the Aether Generator humming along pretty easily with a trio of mini-neko zooming up to retrieve a diagnostic kit from one edge of the great machine. "Tin Man's handling it well. Not really gonna impact power at all. And, I've also set manual locks on all the weapons systems. Shouldn't be any accidents once we switch over."
"Sweet deal. Take a break. You'll need to be quick on your scales when they start rolling out of fold." Lulu closed the connection and slumped back in her seat again, spreading her legs and scratching lazily at one breast with a sigh. She sat there looking bored for a moment before stomping her feet in a childish manner and moaning, "Hooon-kuuuuun, pleeeeeaaaase give me my booze back."
