YSS Tin Man
A tall, white coffee mug reading 'Certified Nipple-Sucking Instructor' rattled and chittered its way across the vibrating armrest of a chair on a dimly lit bridge. When it reached the edge of the arm rest it tilted slowly and just as it gained enough momentum to tumble onto the smooth floor below and likely shatter, a pair of delicate fingers jutted into the handle and snatched the mug up. Lulu looked down at the black water swirling within it, a look of disinterest crossing her features as she tried to stealthily raise a flask to the edge and liven up the beverage. A pair of significantly less delicate fingers snatched the flask away from her, again just before the container could tumble or spill and Lulu looked up to behold her XO flipping the cap back down and shaking his head disapprovingly.

"Aw, Hon-kun." She pouted, "Lemme just have a little to take the edge off before the big space battle."

"I am unsure whether it be this or fried foods, but you are getting fatter, Captain. I cannot allow you to partake on duty, either." Explained the XO, sternly looking over his boss as if their roles were reversed.

Lulu sighed. Then, she tried looking back up at her XO with an adorable expression, her eyes filled with bubbling pleading and almost-on-the-verge-of-tears disappointment. Kozu did not budge, instead stowing the flask in his pocket before returning to his station behind her. At the front of the bridge, there was a lanky Elysian named Havyd Rizos with bright white feathers sitting at the ship's helm. He'd watched this exchange with an arm resting over the back of his seat. Now that it was over and he wasn't at risk of interrupting the captain's stealth, he called out to her, "Sharidon-Taii, we're in position. Star Fortress Fireside is well outside of operational boundaries."

"Thanks, Riz." Lulu shot back, and then sat up a little straighter in her chair to look over some displays she'd opened. "Persimmon?"

A Neko with bright firetruck-red skin and wild violet hair whose name actually was Persimmon swung around from her seat at the sensor station with a broad grin, answering in a bright soprano voice, "It looks like the Caspar is invisible to direct sensor scans so long as they maintain radio silence."

"Cool. Cool, cool." Lulu nodded, then turned and flicked a finger to the regal-looking Neko with long black hair and eerily pale skin sitting at the Communications station. "What've yeh got for me, Momma Bear?"

"Taii, the Caspar reports that they're in position." Replied the Neko whose name was actually Rumiko Sato, smoothing down brown fur rising on her ears to hide her seething contempt for the nickname, "I will tell them to go to no response right away."

"Okay, alright, thanks, Juni." Lulu rewarded the by-the-books comms officer by giving her a more formal send-off before tapping a few buttons on her volumetric keypad and opening a channel to engineering. Immediately, a Sephara'shan slithered into view in the engine room and rested a massive spanner over one shoulder.

"Enginessss." She said quickly.

"Have you finished those modifications to the CFS, Heisho?" Lulu asked hopefully, not wanting to spare another moment. The space battle was coming, and soon.

"Aye, Captain." Replied the snake-woman. She gestured behind her to the Aether Generator humming along pretty easily with a trio of mini-neko zooming up to retrieve a diagnostic kit from one edge of the great machine. "Tin Man's handling it well. Not really gonna impact power at all. And, I've also set manual locks on all the weapons systems. Shouldn't be any accidents once we switch over."

"Sweet deal. Take a break. You'll need to be quick on your scales when they start rolling out of fold." Lulu closed the connection and slumped back in her seat again, spreading her legs and scratching lazily at one breast with a sigh. She sat there looking bored for a moment before stomping her feet in a childish manner and moaning, "Hooon-kuuuuun, pleeeeeaaaase give me my booze back."

Lounge/Recreation:

Elina looked at the volumetric display of the Chusa and listened to the announcement. She twirled about and moved to the nearest seat. She smiled as she hadn't moved her gear yet into the lounge, which was still secured in her quarters.

Settling in the seat and relaxing waiting for the all clear signal to move about the Soyokaze again.

Bridge

Nenene nodded and leaned forward in her own chair. "Helm, plot in a course for Mevar system, engage FTL once we are clear of the system" she relayed the commanding officer's orders to Herdis, smiling as she watched the mini neko work. Herdis reminded her a lot of one of her sisters, Momoka, who was an operations officer and a mini as well. All of her sisters were mini nekos and Nenene herself had started out as one as well.

Bridge

Herdis piped up in response, "Yes, Shoi." She eased into moving the really large ship and relaxed as she became more confident in what she was doing. Though she had all of the training in her head as well as practical experience, she was still a bit nervous with doing this job. As soon as they were clear, she engaged the FTL with the calculations to their destination and reported, "We should be there within 4-5 hours."

Aldis watched her sister, keeping an eye on everything she needed to. There wasn't much for her to do at the moment, for so far nothing was expected to happen as they traveled.

Lounge/Recreation:

A young man looking like he was no more then 18, and a young minkan female walked up to Elina. Both stopped and bowed to the civilian politely. "Ma'am I am Joe Hills, and this is Goto Auska. We were ordered to find you and help you get your ship internal radio station set up." Joe spoke with a fairly think Nepleasian accent while the purple haired minkan stood there silently, here piecing silver eyes bored directly into Elina's.

"Now that they have made FTL speed would you like to gather your equipment and follow us to the cabin that was put aside for you. I have had the fabrication bay working overtime all night to refit the sleeping quarters into a sound booth." Joe was the one who spoke again.

Lounge/Recreation

Elina smiled, "Sure! I eed to stop by my quarters for additional equipment. My personal equipment." She stood up and disposed of her glass properly and headed to her assigned quarters.

She entered and pulled out the cases. She gave the room a once over to make sure she hadn't forgotten anything. "Okay this is it." Indicating the equipment cases.

She picked up what she could carry. "Lead the way." Giving both a smile.

Bridge

Jei looked the weapons console to make sure the turrets had gone into FTL safety before locking in place. It was green across the board. He piped up to the first officer turning in his seat slightly, "Weapons systems are green for FTL safeties, we are good on weapons and equipment." He turned back towards the console again checking the status of everything. He then shifted his weight in the chair to a more relaxed state, but still able to work on the console.

Science Lab

The change did not take long to recognize, Chieko noted the transition to FTL as nothing unusual, but meaningful. She made her way in to the bio lab again to check on her projects figuring it was about time to see if they were ready for the next stage.

The fungoid looked to be at the point where she wanted it and began separating it out into three growth trays with twelve dishes each. The scientist then took a small amount of the remaining and added it to a solution of sugar water to see how it would perform.

Once finished with the fungoid, Chieko made her way over to the plant embryos to see how they were doing. Nascent points of root and stem looked to be starting since the last time they had been checked and the young Minkan smiled at this. They were growing quickly and in a couple hours, would be ready for planting.

Noting this, the scientist began setting up a small hydroponics box, ensuring there were enough cells for each embryo. She then began mixing up a nutrient bath and cycled it through the system until everything that should be wet was. Finally, with that all in place, Chieko hooked it into a line that took scrubbed carbon dioxide from the ship and ensured it was sealed so that it was ready to be used.

Being dragged along, with little time to talk or even really getting a chance to get to know their new civilian boss, Joe and Auska followed along carrying the extra equipment. "Ma'am?" Joe lead the way up to officer country, "I told you we have the whole of the room set up already for you. You really didn't need to pick up anything of your own." He spoke as they arrived to Cabin 42. Instead of a name plaque there was a sign listing the room as, "Station 42".

"Here we are ma'am." He opened the door and lead Elain and Auska in. The room had been divided into two, one side was set up for the DJ and the other for the producer. In the back there was a door leading to a private wash room with shower. "With the set up here Ma'am we can broadcast through out the ship. I have to tell you Auska and I are here to help run the station, and keep it censored as needed, this is a war ship not a radio station back on Kyoto. Along with being your producer."

Station 42

Elina set the equipment she was carrying in a corner of the room. "Producer? So that means you're my boss." Helping the two place the equipment with the rest. Making sure it was secure. She looked over the equipment already set up. "Where you both from?" Since she had nothing much to do at the moment, except to get familiar with the equipment.

The pair looked at each other and grinned, "No Ma'am We'll work all of the technical ends of the show, sound work, channel control, and the like. You can then just focus on the show itself, We will also, along we a few others, run the show when you are having down time." Joe answered as He went to work on the digital board he had to attach to the internal comms system. It would allow any comm panel to be "tuned" to the station.

turning the Elina, Auska giggled, "From the ship ma'am, but before that I was stationed at Kyoto, and Joe here was serving as a comms officer on a Chiaki class destroyer. She pulled a chair over to Elina by the board with a mic and a music input. "here you go."

The doctor Blake can strolling into the lab, He had a box under one arm and something in the other, but it was behind his back. After stopping to talk to a few of the lab techs, he got the location of his target. "Miss. Koizumi?" He asked as he approached her from behind. "Do You have a moment?" He was about to continue when he saw what was being worked on. "What is this?" He said laying the bunch of flowers and the box of chocolates onto a counter top. "You'll need a bigger flask then that." he pointed.

Sitting there watching the 4 hour long timer count down with a smile on her face Saeko looked around the bridge at each of her crewmembers. "I think we need something to do." She looked over to her XO, Why do you run a short Fire drill in here."

Misato Nearly choked on her tongue, when Freyja asked about her and Bors. She turned and quickly got back to work on her Mindy, trying to ignore the rest of the conversation.

Station 42

Elina sat down on the nearest set and watched. "This is gonna be awkward after 2 years of doing all of my own work.." She idly looked through her discs. "System is all internal?" She glanced over at Joe working on integrating a panel into the ship's internal communications.

Nenene glanced back at the captain as the suggestion reached her ears. "A fire drill, now?" she replied via wireless. "Just on the bridge, or shipwide?" she asked.

"Yes now, small one, maybe a trash can fire, but just here on the bridge. program a Volumetric fire for use. I want to see how they do." She smiled and leaned back into her seat and watched the different displays and read outs.

"Yes Ma'am, We don't need any EM leaks out of the ship." Joe responded as he finished the hard wire into the ship's internal communications systems. "We are ready to go live once you are set." Auska giggled as she brought up control displays for Elina, getting them ready for the star to be able to broadcast through out the channel. she then sent a message to the Captain with a brief note that the station was almost live.

Station 42

Elina moved to the control panel and maxed out the volume as she clicked on system. She slipped a disc into the slot and hit play. The heavy Acid Metal Rock instrumental blared from the ship's intercom those that had it on. The screaming guitars, heavy pounding of drums, the electric piano, and a few other instruments rang out drowning out conversations all over the ship. From Bow to Stern, Top to Bottom, ending in a crash of brass symbols.

Using that as her cue to kill the music, she spoke, "Gooooooood Day Soyokaze! From Chusa to Santoes and Civilian Specialist! This is Elina Joitto coming to you live from the bowels of the ship! To bring you entertainment and delight during your tour of duty aboard tis fine cruiser of the Yammy Star Navel Forces!" She once again blasted the heavy Acid Metal Rock instrumental for a minute. As she set up a string of discs to play in order.

Elina killed the music and readjusted the output volume for the next song inline to be broadcasted. It was one of her favorites, but not of her own design and production. She quickly got that playing to sooth any feathers she ruffled at her first broadcast.

Science Lab

Chieko had begun filling the cell bottoms with the nutrient bath when she heard Blake speak up. "Just prepping an experiment," she replied, then saw what else he was after. The scientist wondered if he figured out what she was doing; but at the same time it was an experiment.

"The flask is big enough to test a few of the organism's traits," the young woman offered the Kodian doctor, "Any bigger and I would be wasting nutrient on something that will get thrown out later."

Bridge

Alright. Nenene sent back and brought up a volumetric window, selecting some options. Satisfied with the selected training program she began the drill, which would be limited to the bridge only.

Within moments volumetric flsmes stsrted sputtering out of one of the unused monitor stations in the aft of the bridge. The fire klaxon sounded along with the voice of the ships computer.

"This is a drill. Fire on the bridge, fire on the bridge" the system announced as the volumetric flames billowed out of the station, curling up along the wall and the bridge started to fill with volumetric smoke.

Armory

Freyja raised her eyebrows in suprise at Misato's reaction before hifting to a somehwat mischevious grin as she kept working on her own Mindy. This was it. the perfect time for a really dumb, somewhat offensive pun. Cat got your tounge?

But of course, she wasn't quite brave enough to say it aloud. Instead, she looked to the Nepleslian. "So uh, is there a story there?"

Jei spun his head around at the announcement of a fire drill. He turned out of his chair and ran to the closest bridge locker. He opened it quickly and grabbed the small fire extinguisher inside and primed it while he was walking towards the "burning" console. He aimed the nozzle at the flames and thought to himself as he sprayed the "flames." He glanced at the closest officer while still keeping an eye on the flames to measure their descent.

Station 42

Elina stood up. "I am going for a walk." Then headed for the exit to the room.

Ship

Elina moved through the quiet ship with it usual noises and military conversations going on that fell quiet till she left the area. She moved through the ship getting more disappointed at how her first shipwide broadcast wasn't so shipwide after all. Deck after deck and corridors she travelled and it was quiet.

Quarters

She sighed softly and entered her quarters. Once the doors were closed and offering her privacy. She threw a temper tantrum, trashing her quarters by throwing everything all over the room till exhausted.

She flopped down on the only bunk that was untouched and laid there, breathing hard from the exertion, calming down to fall into a troubled sleep, relieving the nightmares of being stranded, the Mishu raiding the passenger ship fleeing a doomed planet, her homeworld where she was created.
