RP (non-canon): D&D Behind the Scenes

You're assuming Aurelus has the proper 'Use Rope' skill points for that...

...or that anyone in our party does, for that matter. Apparently Use Rope is not as useless as I thought it was.
 
Aw, that was just Sorri (and the die rolling a stupid "1"...). Aurelus tied one fine!

It's just an option still, the next time rope is used. Now...back to the game/story...
 
Actually, you guys could hoist the rope up, Denkou tie one of those noose-type knots, then Ghira could loop that around his waist and they could pull him up.

But that's just nonsense.
 
We need the DM to tell us if we succeeded or not, right? Or in any case Ghira can continue onto the balcony, and then I'll have Aurelus finish climbing up the rope.
 
Couldn't I just take 20? Ghira wasn't in a situation of great duress or anything. . . or does taking 20 only apply to search checks and whatnot?
 
You can apply it to any skill check (within reason), but I think it's only 10, unless Gabe says otherwise. 20 is automatic success on a lot of stuff.

Well we already decided that Aurelus pushed Ghira up all the way. Now:

Doesn't matter, he made it.



And on the comment about taking 20s, even if something has a DC of like 60 (which is almost impossible, something like tracking someone over a stone floor, a month later, after the rain has washed away footprints several times). A 20 is usually considered a "you just got REALLY lucky, picked a random direction, a random distance, and wound up where you needed to be."

So anyways, I won't allow automatic 20s, however, I will allow automatic 10s, but only if I'm taking forever to post. And sorry it took so long, my highschools powderpuff football game was today so ive been at practice from like 3-9 every day all week.
 
Well, I meant that you had to post that we succeeded in the Role Play thread... but if you don't...

... Moogle gets to post that Ghira gets up to the balcony with help from Aurelus. And I subsequently post that I got up shortly thereafter.

If I don't post in the story thread it's because I feel that a one-line post from me is useless and it would be much better for you guys to do it since you can add emotions, details, additional actions, etc.
 
Just to double check that every knows what's going on, you are on a balcony on the 2nd floor, there is a staircase on the balcony that leads to a balcony on the third floor (you can kinda see it on the picture i drew up). Inside would bring you into the house where the party would need to find stairs inside and work their way up.

Nevaraon's post just made it sound like he was a little confused with the layout.

Oh great. So now we have to re-check any traps that might've already been triggered...

I'll have my character just wait for Denkou to get all the traps disabled.
