Ramiro watched the recruits train when an LUT pulled up and a man jumped out. "Heisho, the front gate is calling you, the new recruit is here. Also, your request had been granted by the 1st XF." Ramiro contemplated what was said before responding, "Have security bring him over in an LUT." Ramiro then walked over to Aendri and slapped him on the shoulder, "Well ol' buddy, looks like we got a new boy, and we have some new toys. I'm going to go get the new recruit situated."

----------------------

The MP placed down his radio and then turned to Yoshiro. "Alright, your cleared, the driver will bring down to the firing range where the rest of the recruits are." The driver pulled away and sped off towards the back of the academy. Once they arrived outside the firing range he paused, giving Yoshiro just enough time to hop out and grab his bags before speeding back off.

Yoshiro grabbed his duffel bag after he got out and watched as the driver sped off. I am really here. I am going to make something out of myself this time. I want to be someone that my parents could be proud of. Yoshiro thought to himself as he headed toward the firing range.

He looked to the range and sought the one that he was supposed to report to. He walked on to the range and found Valencia. He set his bags down and spoke in a respectful tone "Valencia Nito-Heisho, Tanaka Santo-Hei reporting as ordered sir." He said and bowed low, in respect to the training officer and so as not to make a bad first impression.

Saito fallowed the others, she kept to herself because she felt that she would make a fool of herself. I'm a medic, I heal bulletwounds I don't want to make them...but if I must do it to prove that I can be on the team than I shall. She stared quietly at the others and the gun that Aendri had pulled out. She hope she could fire it but she did not want to.
"I do not want to fire the gun, sir." She answered to the question at hand. "I am better with my medical field than I am with what causes the wounds I heal."

Having practiced with the NSP for bit, and only missing a single shot, Yoshiko decided to head over to where Shasos'Shol-Hei was demonstrating the Rifle.

"Yoshiko may not need marksmanship training but it couldn't hurt, who knows what situations Yoshiko could end up in out in the field, even if most of Yoshiko's career will be spent in the belly of a Starship." Yoshiko thought to herself.

As she was waiting for the Hei to demo the Rifle, Yoshiko overheard one of the other recruits grumbling about a dislike of weapons and decided to comment.

"A Medic is no good to their team if they are dead, so you should at least know how to defend yourself when you need to."

Ramiro responded with respect to the comment, "Exactly, if your ship is boarded by hostiles then you need to have the ability to defend yourself. A living medic is a good medic." With that he walked over to the recruit. "Alrighty, we're almost finished here so I'll show you to the barracks where you can drop your stuff and then we'll meet up with the others later." Ramiro then called over, "Aendri, I'll show this one to the barracks. When everyone's finished here meet me in the classroom for skills trainings." With that he led the way back to the barracks. "Okay, this is where you'll be staying for the duration. Go up the central staircase and turn right, but keep out of the third floor, that's where the instructors stay and we will damage you if you're in our sleeping area. Once everything is unpacked uniform manner then report back here!"

"Think about the phrasing though. There was no mention of not being capable of using guns, just a dislike. Plus, I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather have my medic with me then back off somewhere sniping." He looked back down his sights, fiddled with the sights for a moment, and then took a shot, hitting more or less the center of the target. "Now I'm betting you guys can see which target you're supposed to shoot. There's five rounds left in this clip, I want you to take two shots each. One thing to keep in mind though: I'd rather you had good grouping then one bullseye, since you can alter the point of aim easily." He ran the bolt action through it's path, chambering the new round before turning back around. "So, who's first up?"

Yoshiro followed Ramiro to the barracks and stood respectfully as the Nito Heisho explained where he would be living at. He bowed to the instructor as he left and then went up the central staircase. Turning right he arrived at the recruit barracks. He walked in and set his stuff up in an empty bed and placed his stuff in a footlocker.

After placing his stuff in the footlocker and washing his face he returned outside the barracks to report to his instructors. He reported back to Valencia. "Valencia Nito-Heisho, Tanaka Santo-Hei reporting as ordered sir." He said as he stopped and bowed low to show respect to his rank.

Before Keiko could think better about it she lifted her hand "I would like to try sir"

While she had no reason to expect good results, the young woman felt the need to try her luck. And so she stepped forward to do so.

"Let me restate what I meant; I can fire a gun just fine and hit the target. Whether or not I enjoy killing or fire the gun at another person is up for judgment. I am a medic I had to go through basic." Saito turned to Aendri after the thought of people under-minding her skills. "Sir I will take the test. To prove I'm not just some doctor."

Ramiro waited patiently for the new recruit to come out before he said, "Alright, there's another new recruit that should just be coming, so head back down to the firing range and shoot some targets. I'll go pick up the new recruit." With that Ramiro flagged down an LUT that was driving by and got the driver to pick him up and take him to the main entrance.

---------------------------

A small shuttle landed at the landing pad and opened up the entryway. A new recruit stepped out and looked around, surveying the new home. A soldier hopped out of a nearby LUT and said, "There seems to be a lot of you newbies dropping in lately. Grab your stuff, I'll drive you into the academy." The soldier motioned to her LUT before she walked back over to the driver's seat and hopped in.

As Saki stepped out of shuttle she looked around. Fort Ready was pretty vast. It was a little new from confined spaces of facility where she trained before. She picked up her stuff and sat in the passenger seat. "Thank you ma'am," she said to driver. She felt a little nervous about being here. After all, it seemed to her that not everybody gets to Fort Ready. Many of her sisters went straightly to their assignments. She wasn't really sure what to expect from education and training she will be given here.

"Okay then. You," and he pointed at Keiko, "Will shoot first. Just take two shots, I'll mark them in, and we'll move on to you," and he pointed at Saito. "Now is that all of you who are going to try? Come on now, trying doesn't make you do anything, it's just for my information to help you figure out what you're good at."

"No sir. I'll take a shot Nito-heisho." Yoshiro said and waited for his turn with the rifle. "Santo-Hei Yoshiro Tanaka reporting as ordered." He said to the instructor and bowed low in deference to his rank.

"Pfeh. Save the bowing for situations where it matters, please. I'm not formally a part of the military, so I'd much rather we just get work done." Aendri paused, looking the newbie over. "Not that I don't expect you to show respect. And with that settled, you'll go after Michi-Hei here."

A small shuttle landed at the landing pad and opened up the entryway. A new recruit stepped out and looked around, surveying the new home. A soldier hopped out of a nearby LUT and said, "Another one, huh? Grab your stuff and get in, the instructors are expecting you." The soldier motioned to her LUT before she walked back over to the driver's seat and hopped in.

Well now is the time

Keiko took the Longbolt in her hands. It was heavier than she originally thought, but that could just be the gravity affecting her.

Now that the moment was upon her she was a little nervous so she took a deep breath to calm herself as she prepared to take the shot. The target was on her sight, and since she held her breath in concentration her aim did not falter.

A good shot, right besides the bullseye. That went perfect. What did not went so well was the recoil for the which she was not prepared. Her grip on the Longbolt wasn't ideal so she ended up with her arm and shoulder hurting.

Some swear words that her family would be quite horrified to learn about crossed her head she prepared her final shot. Keiko struggled a little bit with the reloading of the rifle. While she hit the target on her second try, the shot was a little worse. Her arm hurted a little bit less but she still didn't quite get how to hold the rifle properly.

"Here you go sir" Keiko said as she handed back the rifle.

Kagi Airo sat in the back of his shuttle. It wasn't a terribly long flight but for someone who hadn't set foot off of Yamatai since he was five, it was very tedious. They had been in orbit for nearly fifteen minutes above Fort Ready, obtaining clearance, and as much as Airo wanted to scream 'land this piece of crap already!' he knew it wouldn't bring him any closer to disembarking. Eventually, however, the shuttle jerked towards the planet as Airo nearly lost his lunch.

The shuttle landed a few moments after the previous one departed, and Airo clambered out, nearly losing his balance. He dragged his bags off and looked around at what would be his new home until he was fit to be a soldier. 'Kind of...dumpy. And small. But I'm not here to appreciate the aesthetics. I'm here to...' he thought to himself, almost completely oblivious to his surroundings, until the hatch behind him slammed shut. This reminding him that he was now stuck here and he was going to begin paying back the empire for his new body.

The LUT driver waited for both of the recruits to hop in before she started the engine. Then she sped off towards the academy, leaving a trail of dust behind her. After a couple minutes the gates of the academy could be seen. Once she reached the gate she flashed the guards a card and pulled in. Stopping just in side, she instructed the recruits to get out and talk to a man several yards away. Once they were out of the LUT she pulled away, leaving them on their own.

"Hmmm. Decent enough, I suppose. Remember, don't try to compensate your aim right now. Grouping is much more important then one shot accuracy, because a marksman's primary skill should always be consistency, to be able to hit the same spot, or as close as possible, at least five or six times in a row." He glanced back over his shoulder. "Michi, you're up. Remember what I said."

Having watched the other recruits try the Longbolt, Yoshiko decided to try her hand at it as well.

"Yoshiko would like to try Sir", Yoshiko said to the instructor.
