RP: The Wayward Collection (Ep. 1.2)

Tanja walked into the bar, goggles covering her eyes like usual in public space. Though it would have been something the crew would've seen briefly before, but on a station full of nonabwehran's she stood out a little and the black furred tail did not help matters. She stopped at the entrance and glanced around a moment or at least it seemed that way but couldn't be told behind her goggles. When she found her crew she walked over with a smile.

"I see everyone is here, even the new members Veronica promised." She offered a smile to Quinn and Analiese and extended her hand to them. "Tanja Dunst, I'll be your captain if things work out."
 
Ana had seen the approach of the captain out of the corner of her eye. She noted the goggles, but didn't say anything and stepped towards Quinn when the captain extended her hand. Even though she couldn't see the eyes of the other, the smile and the way the hand was positioned eased Ana in a way most probably wouldn't understand. She placed her hand in Tanja's, tentatively, and spoke directly to her. "Analiese. I'll be your engineer...if things work out."

Though she knew it would have been polite to introduce Quinn as well, since he did her with the others, she figured he'd be better suited to introduce himself and what his role would be.
 
Embel smiled as she saw the captain and looked over at Analiese "so engineer, would you like a drink? I can go get a round for everyone, Captain, Quinn was it, do you two want one as well?." She looked at the others and grinned happily "well since we are all saying our jobs, I am the Operation girl, and I am also the bodyguard, so I am the one who will protect you."

Quinn glanced over when he caught sight of Tanja approaching and turned to face her a little as she walked up and introduced herself. His head turned from Analiese's introduction to Tanja to Embel when she asked her question. "Sure." He agreed readily, a drink sounded good to him especially if he wasn't paying for it. He turned his attention back to Tanja. "Quinn Cathal, nice to meet you Tanja. I'll be the one putting people back together and otherwise entertaining. Aside from repairing holes in clothes I'm afraid I'm not much use otherwise." He shook her hand as well and then he gave Tanja a charming smile and kissed the back of her hand. "Veronica told me there would be tails, and I'm going to have so much fun chasing them." He wiggled his eyebrows at the three of them.
 
Ana blinked at Embel and nodded a little. "Um...okay." She wasn't sure what kind of drink Embel would get her, but she was willing to try anything new. When she watched Quinn and saw how he flirted with the others, she looked a little confused as to what he was doing. But she shrugged it off, since that was how he was. She just wondered to herself if she should be grateful she didn't have a tail...or wishing she did.
 
Embel smiled and went to get the drinks for everyone coming back with a tray of drinks and grinned "Some Gartagen drinks for everyone~" she handed two of three of the same drinks to Analiese and Tanja "That is Geglo Smii basically a fruit beer, hope you two like it I got one as well~~."

After checking the other drinks she grinned and handed shadow one "Something special for you, careful though it is a very high proof, its called Pygrinkamesh just be careful" she then gave Quinn and Hugar a milky white drink "That is Ouishi, it is a high proof as well so careful guys" she then put the tray down and got the last Geglo Smii for herself and took a sip.

Geglo Smii
Fruit beer. Carbonated and fermented under heavy heat to attain an alcohol proof of 31%, Often served at social events
Ouishi
A sweet 90 proof alcoholic beverage that turns milky white when chilled to room temperature.
Pygrinkamesh
A 98% proof clear liquor often served in mixed drinks of fruit or vegetable make.
 
Ana took a whiff of the drink, blinking. She had never had anything like this before. Taking a small sip, she winced a little at the bubbles, not quite sure if she would like them or not. Other than that, the drink tasted well enough. She wasn't sure what Embrel meant by "proof" and was too afraid to ask, so she just quietly drank swallows of it as she listened to the others.
 
"Not particularly familiar with gartagen food or drink but I'll give it a go." Quinn trusted his, hopefully, new crew mate to not give him something that might kill him and he took the drink she brought back for him. He gave Embel a grin "I got scowled at the other day for asking for Industrial Cleaning Alcohol. I doubt this could do any worse." Plus he knew he could avoid being any more than pleasantly buzzed if he spent another small fortune on finger food. Quinn gave the drink a curious sniff and then he took a sip and swallowed, blinking a few times at the taste. "Ooo... I like that..."
 
Tanja took note of Ana's shy behavior so she decided to pull her tinted goggles off to be a little less imposing. The lighting was a little lower in the bar than in most places, so she could stand it better. Her eyes had a soft glow to them which at first was a bit unsettling by its own right, but her expression was soft and almost motherly towards Ana. "It's nice to meet you Analiese."

Her attention was turned to Embel when she asked if she wanted a drink "Sure I'll take one, but I can't my crew paying the tab, I'll handle that."

Next her focus settled on Quinn who's self introduction was more than she expected. She gave a smile at his words and even let out a bit of a laugh. "You'd have enjoyed being born Nacht Bewohner, Quinn. Two males for every eight females. Usually we're the one's trying to impress the guys." She took the drink when Embel brought it and took a sip, and then a swallow and then half of it was gone before anyone knew it.

"Hmm this taste pretty good..though it could be a bit stronger." She took another sip and smiled. "Well since everyone's got a drink now, why don't we sit down and talk business." As she said that she sat down at the table and glanced at the package. "It looks like you guys got the package here too."

Quinn's grin widened at her return words. "Sounds like a place I'd love to visit." Couldn't be worse than any of the Nepleslian cities he'd been in anyway. He glanced over at the table and then nodded. "If the tab's on you, I'll order lunch." He added. He downed the rest of his drink in one go and then offered his hand to Analiese with a gentle smile. "Come on, you can help me bring it all back." He was giving her the opportunity to get away for a little bit and get herself back together before she was expected to have to be with the group. He glanced over at Tanja and nodded "Wasn't like it was difficult or anything considering the rest of the gear I'm hauling around with me." He gave a pointed look towards the pile of gear sitting close to the table.
 
Ana chewed on her lip as she thought about Quinn's offer to have her help him. She knew he was doing it so she could ease back into the group when she was ready and maybe he had the right idea. But she also knew she needed to get used to the crew as a group. She looked between Quinn and Tanja and said softly, "I'll stay here, if that's okay. I don't have a lot, so I can take what is mine when the time comes." Though she made her declaration as a statement, there was still a hint of questioning at the end. She was hoping she was making the right decision. She may not be used to being included in things, and she probably won't say much right now anyway. But she also needed to observe the others as they are together, not just how they could be as individuals.
 
Hugar took a moment to access the two, one was shy, and the other seemed like a womanizer. He didn't know how these two would go with the group but they seemed talented enough to be at least a little useful. He took his Quishi and downed it rather easily, the large Helashio was rather stout and firm. He smiled at Embel a moment and nodded to her. "Thank you for the drink Embel."

His attention turned towards Tanja now that things had calmed down a little bit. "I take it you had no trouble turning them over to the authorities?" He went back to drinking his milk his tail lightly wrapping around his waist to get out of peoples way. "And how much did we get for the schematics and two vehicles?" He asked curiously.

Tanja turned to Hugar and smiled. "Yep turned the bad guys in, and got the job turned in. We didn't make great money all in all, but we got some decent cash." She reached into her pocket and pulled out some KS cards. "The payment for the job is on these." hands a card to Hugar Embel Shadow and Reed. "But that's only half the good news." She takes the package and opens it "We ordered these a little late but we finally got them." She pulls out a tray that has ten antique looking pocket watches made out of red copper. "Communicators for everyone."
 
Ana sat down with the others and watches quietly, not quite sure what was going on. She looked from one to another, until her attention was drawn to the package that she and Quinn had brought. When it was revealed to be some sort of communication devices, she frowned and leaned forward a little to study them better. She didn't know how they worked and was very curious. Licking her lips a little, she hesitated just a little before asking tentatively, "How do they work?"

She looked up at the others, realizing she had asked a question and feared the others would think her either impertinent or just plain stupid. Swallowing, she slumped back in her chair and curled up, shaking.
 
Quinn returned shortly, having kept an ear on the table while waiting for food. He set the pair of trays down in the middle of it and glanced from the pocket watches to Analiese who was currently shaking like a stick in a strong breeze. "It's alright to ask questions." He said softly, soothingly, and then he glanced to Tanja as he handed out food, leaving a plate for him and Ana to share so he could eat what she didn't. He finally sat down beside Ana and tapped the edge of the plate to draw her attention to it. "Eat. I'm sure Tanja will explain. I don't know how one works either." He'd never needed to use one really.
 
Ana slowly calmed as she heard Quinn and smiled at him tentatively. She looked at the food and reached over to grab a small amount, not quite sure what it was. It didn't look familiar to her. She nibbled on it as she waited for the answer. She kept sipping at the drink Embel had gotten her, though, enjoying the fruitiness as the bubbles seemed to have disappeared.
 
Embel grins at Ana seeing that she liked the drink "I didn't know your preference with drinks so I got you that one, glad to see you like it" she let out a cute giggle and looked at the communicator "they look really beautiful~." She smiled as her tail lay across her lap "So Ana and Quinn, may I know more about you to, you both have a nice look and an even nicer attitude."
 
Shadow sat quietly drinking unsure what to do despite the smile on his face he worried that the new engineer had arrived to replace him and he would loose his new and only friends. As his thoughts continued down this road he worried it was because of his earlier violence, it had happened before scaring people away. It wasn't going to happen again.

Fetching his tool bag out of his coat he offered it to Ana "here try not to break it permanently when you take it apart things like this aren't free to replace, and sorry if the tools are a bit large I made them for me".
 
Tanja handed one of the somewhat large pocket watches to each member, Shadow included. "Well like I said they're communicators. On their own they have a pretty good range, but you can sync them up to a communications network was well." She pulled a piece off one showing that it was actually a wireless ear-bud speaker and mic. "You can even keep things private if you use this with it." She then opened it up and showed off the volumetric display. "They can do basic computer things but really they're communicators, I got them so the team can stay in touch easily."
 
Quinn studied the communicator when it was handed to him and then he got up to fetch his datapad and returned to his seat. After poking around for a moment he pulled up some instructions for similar such communication pieces and set the datapad where Ana could read it. "You can read up, or I can show you when I'm done eating." Of course Quinn could read it directly through his cybernetics thanks to their link with his datapad via the transmitter/receiver combo installed under his skin. This left him open for reading, munching and capable of keeping an eye on the rest of them all at the same time.
