OOC Grün-Boot (Closed)

Why would the Star Army fight Nepleslia?

My reasoning IC is that both would end up wanting the same exact thing, and fight over it. I won't give any more details here though. OOC, since this is an Open Plot, I hoped that we'd have the flexibility to give this scenario to the players to let them have more diversity and fun in their RP. Even though this plot is intended to show newcomers more and different aspects of the setting, I won't portray the SAoY in a degrading manner. They'll be in their prime when the players come across them.

If any of you'd like, I can open up a new thread in the GM Forum to discuss this in more detail.

Unless it's self-defense, the Star Army would only fire on actual enemies. Unless Nepleslians are shooting at us, we're not going to shoot at them. And if Nepleslians are shooting at us, expect the rest of the SARP to be affected by this change in international relations.

To be honest, that polarized response from a nation is wholly unnecessary in our setting.

And unrealistic too - this is just a small little 'squabble' after all. That's what I intend for it to be. Tired and weary after a long, hard fight, there would be outrage at this incident, but nobody backing a brand new war. People will be angry, there will be cries for retribution, and far more voices shouting those ones down in favor for diplomacy. After all, this is nothing but a little skirmish at the borders. It's completely inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. However, it means the entire world to the 'little people' involved - our characters. I've thought out the details, and since this a concern to you, I'll put up a post in the GM forums detailing the specifics.

Alright, that's been enough waiting around - tomorrow, I'll post the sign up/OOC thread for our plot. I look forward to seeing what you guys got in mind!

The war has ended.

And now, all the major powers are picking up the shattered pieces of their countries. Nations are recovering from their wounds, repopulating worlds emptied of their colonists. Reassembling the forges, the factories of industry. And most importantly, recruiting for, retooling and rebuilding their military machines for the next war to inevitably come. The war has ended, and this is nothing but the nature of victory. But for this particular group of recruits - all young men and women hoping to become marines in full - a place known as "Grün-Boot" is where it all begins.

And all too possibly, ends.

*****

Ok, finally getting into gear! This plot's purpose is to give newer players a quick and dirty intro/crash course into the classic bread and butter of Nepleslian Roleplay - Space Marines. At the same time, for our more seasoned players, hopefully give an oldschool feel of nostalgia. What we're going to be doing is playing a group of recruits going through the final stages of training, but are pulled right into the thick of an old enemy's death throes. And even though this is definitely the end for them, that doesn't mean they go quietly into the night! The main combat portion will first feature NMX, then SMX before boiling down to a three way involving the Star Army of Yamatai - the whole gang's all here, and nobody's happy to see each other - despite the small scale of this little 'border skirmish', there's far more at stake here than the recruits, or even their superiors know.

Because if you guys like how the plot goes and keep up the pace, I'll throw in a special treat - a third enemy - free!

But on to character sheets and whatnot. I'll give an example, and you guys follow - I'll approve or disapprove the character, and from there, we can get started. If you guys want to smooth it out, you guys can go ahead and PM me the character sheet before posting it here too. Whatever works.

Note that your ranks will all be Private, 3rd Class - with positions, it's ok for our group to have duplicates, as we'll be part of a larger group. With mine, istory is intentionally left out. For you guys, it, along with personality, is optional. Initially, loadout will be 'default', but that'll change as we go along.

Name: Ylfa Díadóttir
Age: 30
Race: Nepleslian
Rank: Chief
Position: Platoon Leader
Appearance: Ylfa is a blond, busty, blue eyed, 6'8" Valkyrie of a woman of descent similar to that of the Raltians, an ethnic minority in Yamatai. Though her long, straight hair frames her face quiet well, it is often kept in a bun on official duties, making her even more imposing and intimidating. Typically however, it is worn loose, and tucked down the collar of her armor or in a tight and strong braid. Emphasizing her strong presence, her body is fit and toned, reflecting her competence and presence in the field. The scars she has - a large burn on her left forearm and waist along with the mark of a large puncture wound left atop of her sternum - only add to her aura.
Personality: Because her people are somewhat spread across the sector, Ylfa considers and thinks of herself as '100% Nepleslian' due to it being her birthplace. She is boisterous and brassy, yet intelligent - to the people under her leadership in particular, she is the glue which bind them together. Despite this, Ylfa's position of command often has her reach into the colder, stoic roots of her heritage. Rather than seeing a boisterous and playful person, most 'outsiders' see - and think - of her as "The Valkyrie". Something that doesn't have wholly positive connotations in this day and age.

The plot is up!

From here on out, this thread will be not only used for sign-up, but serve as our OOC - hope we all have fun everyone!

I'll write out the character here, if you want me to change anything just say and I'll change it and if you want me to add him too the wiki I will do it.

Name: Edward Low
Age: 24
Rank: Private, 3rd Class
Position: Engineer
Appearance: Edward is 5'7" and 177lbs, his pale white skin and nothing more than the most basic of muscles that barely show under his uniform. His face has hawkish features to it, being very pointed and angular with a pair of glasses hanging on his nose, as a part to cover this up and because he likes it he's grown a short brown beard to go with his messy short hair. Along with this his other distinguishing features include his green eyes and a large old scar on his left arm when he cut himself badly by accident as a child.
Personality: Low is a techie with his personality reflecting this, when he looks at a piece of technology he thinks about how it works and what he can do with it, this has caused him to seem anti-social to some as he spends more time on his DataJockey than on socialising with squad mates, it's not that he doesn't enjoy socialising, he does but he would rather spend it doing something he knows he will enjoy rather than doing something he might not.

So far so good you two - aiming pretty high there though Miss Story! Otherwise, everything's fine. so far. I'll rouse up the others into posting up their characters.

Alright let's do this

Name: Terrence (Terry) Walters
Age: 20
Race: Nepleslian
Rank: P3C
Position: Infantryman
Appearance: Standing 5'10'' tall and with an unremarkably average build, Terrence has no scars or bionic limbs. He has a neatly kept short blonde hair and brown eyes, with a pointy nose matching the sharp facial features that he has. He also is almost always seen biting a toothpick.
Personality: With an abrasive personality and a penchant for finding a reason to complain about anything, he is not the most likeable person. Known throughout basic training as 'that guy', Terrence is the kind of person who ruins fun for other people for no apparent reason.

Name: Lennart Tennor
Age: 19
Rank: P3C
Position: Support
Appearance:
Lennart is a giant of man. His stature dwarfs even the larger of his comrades and all of his six brothers. He stands at a menacing 6'10" with just over two hundred and sixty pounds of testosterone fueled muscle. His shoulders and massive, broad, and well worked on. Lennart may have just about every advantage when it comes to building mass and strength but he also made sure to never slack on his physical fitness, ever. The private is still a very young man though and it shows through. Lennart's bright green eyes have a sort of insatiable youthful gleam to them, some might even call them sparkly. His skin still bears the marks of a normal teenager's blemishes and he often gets break outs when he gets stressed or starts eating too much red meat. The support specialist can grow a thick and rather impressive beard, most likely due to his over abundance of the man hormone, but he makes sure to keep all of his facial hair trimmed down to nothing. Beard hair can just get in the way after all, and get's bunched up in your face plate. Lennart's size and physicality made him a perfect candidate for carrying absurd amounts of ammunition and heavy support weapons that would be needed in the field. Thus, Lenny is almost always more of a human ammunition dump than a person when in full gear.

Race: Lennart has ID-SOL heritage and is considered a ID-SOL Hybrid.

Name: Kara Yamamoto
Race: Geshrin
Age: 24
Rank: P3C
Role: Grunt
Appearance: Kara looks looks very much like nordic yamataian. She is slim, agile and very pale. Most nordics have either blonde hair or raven-black. Kara is the second of those. Her hair is dark, black and she styles into a bobcut, so she still looks girly, but it does not get in the way. Her martial art and military training gave her very fit body. She is agile and has well toned muscles. Her height is about 5 feet 8 inches.
About: Kara is a bit of a trouble maker. She was conscripted in marines when she got a choice. Either join up or go to prison. So the ex-ganger joined with marines. Ever since she tried her best to fit in, taking marines as a sort of new gang. Even with all that though, she ended up a bit of a troublemaker and was writen up once or twice, for things like talking back to NCOs and such.
Personality: Although Kara lived most of her life on Yamatai, she is nepleslian in soul. Her parent were neps themselves before they opted out to get, what Kara call fake bodies and upgraded to Geshrins. Kara was born a Geshrin herself because of that. The girl did not agree with her parents on artifical bodies and wanted to remain as she was, which in the end went to the family falling apart and Kara running away to Nepleslia. She is a girl with attitude, who wants to do her best and tries to proof that even if she grew up on Yamatai, she has little to do with cats. Other than that, she is friendly, out-going and a bit impulsive sometimes.
Abilities: Kara is grunt through and trough. She is trained in hand-to-hand combat, with knives and general purpose weapons utilised by marines. Be it handgun, PA weaponry or grenades, Kara is trained in their use. Her PA armour focused on utilising good old Hostile, but she also received training with Raider. Of course as fresh boot, she has to work together with suits AI to do harder maneuvers. Apart from that she knows how to ride bikes pretty well and trained Hungar since her early teens.

Name: Edmund Ablerich
Race: Nepleslian
Age: 18
Rank: P3C
MOS: Marine, Infantry
Position: Squad Leader
Appearance: Ed stands 6'2 at 220bls with an athletic build. His caramel skin is contrasted by his lilac eyes and long, pale pink hair. He has a square jaw that some would say is chiseled, compared to his otherwise boyish looking face. Ed's skin is soft and unworked as he came from a well off family, the kind that are accustomed to being treated like royalty. That is why his shirts alone tend to be worth more than what some grunts make in a month and his appearance is always impeccable. Ed is also often seen wearing necklace that was a family heirloom. It is made of pure white gold with an elegant design around three jewels. It is something of a family heirloom as much as it is a religious artifact that has been blessed each time it has been passed down from father to son. Ed guards this amulet with his life and cherishes its well being more than his own.

He's looking good to me Big Dread, though, is he an ID-SOL? Let's go ahead and add that bit in everyone. She stands out ShotJon, but that's just more fun - it's good. Still sticking with the rich kid Acturis? He's good to go as well.

Think fast Centurion - only two more spaces left!

Regardless of if those slots fill up or not, we'll start the plot at Wednesday at the very earliest, and Friday at the latest.

Ok, your three characters are looking good to me, though, Big Dread? Is he an ID-SOL? Let's add in the Race detail if any of you haven't already!

And you better hurry and make up your mind Centurion! Two more spots left! This plot will start on Wednesday at the very earliest, and Friday at the very latest, regardless of whether or not we get more people to fill those last two slots!
