[ISC Enkidu] A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Shiori looked questioningly at Myr at the order, but she didn't say anything. It seemed a litte off for the captain to want to pretend they weren't a group--right about now, safety in numbers seemed like a good idea. But, hey, she had to have her reasons. Well, that, or she was insane. They seemed about equally likely at the moment. Either way, the Geshrin rose to her feet, pocketed the thermos, and followed after the woman from a distance, hands jammed in the pockets of her oversized coat.

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Waiting until a few seconds after everyone else had exited the table, Louis put his head down. Taking a couple of the remaining bottles off the table, the assassin shoved them into his suit jacket and crept off towards the door.

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Crawling out from under the table, Specs quickly scurried out of the bar, following after the others. She stumbled a few times over broken things, chairs, people, etc. , even on the short way out. In her hands, she tightly clutched the spanner.

Upon exiting, the Freespacer let out a relieved sigh. "I wonder what that was all about!"

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Myr made her way out of the bar like an old hand, occasionally - in the guise of scratching her head, or avoiding an obstacle - looking back to make sure that her crew was all still standing. When she was waylaid by the tall, slim woman, her remaining eye narrowed and she looked upward to the Elysian's face. "Yeah, I'm Myr. You lookin' for us? Need a job?"

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Woman looked at Myr and her mouth widened into a grin. "You bet I do. I think you could use me. I can shoot a gun, know how to drive and I am a hell of a chef. Plus I can throw people." she said to Myr happily.

Even tha last thing was somewhat true. Elysian blood is elysian blood and Chrys was strong and standing almost 7 feets tall.

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Louis took an anonymous longneck of some strong-scented booze from the interior pocket of his sport jacket and took a long swig from it. When he finally removed the bottle from his mouth and wiped the remains of the drink off on his forearm, the mercenary had spotted Myr talking to some monolithic freakazoid who literally had to lean down to speak to his captain.

The assassin didn't say anything; rather, he just leaned back against the wall of the bar and continued drinking his booze, only half-listening to the conversation.

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Though the unwinged Elysian was quite a bit taller than Myr, the fiery redhead wasn't intimidated - she glared as sullenly at her as she did everyone else. One hand rested on her weapon. "That's all well an' good, but what th' hell's yer name an' who are you? I'm not lettin' any freak-ass genetic esper-iment onto my crew!"

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Chrys smiled after hearing what Myr said. "I am Chrysanthe Chronis. But call me Chrys." Said tall slim woman. "You know, it is good that you are suspicious and I like to hear don't want any strange creatures on your ship and in you crew. You don't have to worry about me, since I am Elysian. Lost my wings some time ago, but I couldn't fly with them anyway. And if you are afraid that I will be some high and mighty bitch, don't."

Chrys wasn't exactly happy when Myr put her hand on her weapon. Chrys had her sterling everyday on, but her gun was under the coat so she couldn't reach it so fast. Plus Myr had whole crew with her. Let's hope it will be kept peacefull.

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Tuija narrowed her eyes slightly as the conversation went on. Her vision rapidly flicked between modes as she glanced around the street, and then over the Elysian, and back to the street. She was primarily interested in two arrays of data, and she pondered them as she let her primary arms hang down to her sides while her secondary ones tucked in close to her back. The first was who was carrying what weaponry, and where; the second, and far more important, was where she could hide if things went any farther South.

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Louis sidestepped, moving to a more strategic position and elevating his arms slightly away from his chest. The drop-holsters under his suit jacket were poised to drop his knives into his hands at any given second, should the need for combat arise. The mercenary sidestepped again, partially blocking Tuija, just in case.

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Shiori kept her hands planted firmly in her pockets as she watched the scene with carefully practiced disinterest. She wasn't about to piss off a potential employer by intervening on the Elysian's behalf, and at this point, she just wanted to get away from this place to somewhere far, far away from the former barfight. You never knew when some drunk would decide to come back for seconds.

"And here I was in the mood for buffalo wings," she joked at Chrys' comment on losing her wings. "Anyway, Skipper, think we could have this conversation somewhere less likely to get us shot?"

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

"Chrys." Myr reached out with her non-weapon-groping hand and grasped one of the Elysian's, shaking with an almost painfully firm grip. "Myr Barlowe. This's my crew -" she gestured at the various people that had dispersed around her - "an' so are you. Cross me an' I'll blow ya full'a so many holes you'll float away in th' wind. An' yeah, yer right, Geshrin. All'a you lazy scum-suckin' bastards follow me, we're goin' to Enkidu."

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Chrys smiled at red-headed captain while they shaked their hands. She noded at Myr when she said the thing about crossing her and blowing holes.

She then looked at crew still smiling and waved to them. Look friendly. Thought Chrys. "Hello crew!" she said in childish manner.

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Louis' eyebrows sank slightly, brows creasing together into a mild scowl. Somehow he knew he wouldn't like Chrys. She was too upbeat. So he ignored the formerly-winged Elysian's attempt at a cheerful greeting and nodded in Myr's general direction. Honestly, he was happy to be on the move again. Although, he thought to himself, I wonder if I'm the only guy on the crew.

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Specs blinked as she looked around. Why was everyone so tense? The captain was just getting another crew member after all, so what was the need for people to reach for their gun? Oh well.

The Freespacer waved her hand back at the Elysian. "Hi!"

Next, she hurried off after Myr, practically drooling with anticipation. What sort of ship could it be? It was sure to be something beautiful!

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Myr led her crew through the alleys of Funky City, past hoboes and gangs, through dilapidated apartments and puddles of unmentionable liquid. There was no sign of a spaceport, or even a landing pad of any type - at least, not until they passed several collapsing buildings and entered a clearing just big enough to hold one spacecraft. Myr nodded to the small crowd of burly guards, who nodded in return.

The ship... matched its surroundings, to say the least. Though the Courier 2 was a new model, already the ship looked like it had been in service for a decade. The green and grey paint job was chipped and pockmarked, and the hull itself had dents that looked like they must have come from space debris. The landing gear was clearly barely holding the hulk up. The only thing that actually looked new on the ship were the salvage arms - and even those certainly didn't gleam. Even so, Myr spread her arms like she was introducing the crew to some queen, and said grandly, "'ere she is!"

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

The ship looks like it surviver flying through a bulding. Or few buildings. But other that bad paintshop it looked flyable. That was pretty much enough for Chrys at this point. She couldn't expcet it to be nice as Yamataian flagship. Actualy it would felt very weird after spednign so much time in Funky City.

Actualy on second look, the ship was really nice. It was shaped nicely and looked tough and fast. It woul be nice it didn't look like it flew through a dumpster, but that was just a small problem.

"Well it looks nice. Kind off." said Chrys but smile on her face could tell other that she is actually happy. "I hope it has nice kitchen. Wonder who will share room with me." She added then. "Anyway do we get a tour?"

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Specs's jaw just dropped. It was... horrible! It was understandable for a Freespacer ship to be something like this, since many of those ships were cobbled together and because of the enormous amount of use the average 'spacer ship got. But... this! This was just- there was no way to describe it. The engineer didn't even know how to say anything to the captain about how in need of maintenance this ship was.

She just stopped in her tracks and just stared.

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Shiori leaned back a little to scrutinize the ship thoughtfully. She'd trained herself to, when looking at a complicated piece of machinery, figure out the easiest ways to disable it. Now, looking at this thing she planned to ride into a near-vacuum in, the list of was was suddenly less comforting. "Hope the important bits look better than the pretty ones," was her only remark on the sight.

Re: A Putrid Hub of Muck and Evilness

Louis looked over at the Enkidu. It wasn't much to look at, to say the least. He wasn't exactly impressed by the quality of it, but then again he had to grin smugly at seeing something that at least reminded him a little bit of Delsauria. The old passenger scows and rusty merchant ships that landed at Dearg Smuit (Red Dust, Louis' hometown) weren't too far off this ship in terms of exterior appearance, and at heart those ships were just as fit for flight as any fuckin' Yammie cruiser.

So Louis appeared genuinely intrigued by the Enkidu. "Cannae wait ta' see the bowels o' tha beast, Gem. If'n tha inside's anythin' like tha outside, I'll be right at home in a few days, give or take."
