Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Engineering

Takeyu ran quickly over to Cherry's side, as he was tending to Cherry he heard Mikael enter and turned to him. "Harris-hei!" he shouted over the raging fires. "Snuff out those flames quick! We need to save as much of the working machinery as possible!" he then turned his attention back to Cherry and opened the medical kit.

He heard Kiko enter the bay, but didn't turn to address her, his attention focused entirely on Cherry.

As he checked her over for injuries, he discovered that Cherry wasn't all that bad off. She had just shrapnel wounds here and there, most likely caused by an explosion - other than the obvious that she was unconscious. He carefully picked her up and moved her to an area of the engineering bay was well off and propped her up against wall.

Code:
Chusa? Cherry's only unconscious, she has some shrapnel wounds but should recover in due time. May I ask what you had ordered her to do that she didn't respond to? Perhaps I can do the task in her place

Waiting for a response she got partly up and looked over at Mikael. "How's it going over there Harris-hei?!" he yelled.

Eucharis Shuttle Bay

The boy nodded his head and glanced away. "Wow, never thought I'd be in the presence of a Ketsurui," he smiled and looked down at the girl. With the events having passed, she was now feeling the pain in her body more vividly and her face betrayed her otherwise calm demeanor.

He then blinked and looked at him, before looking down at the girl. "Well, not so much me but more her," he looked at the girl. She just shook her head. "You see, she's looking for someone, but with the two years that have passed, she doubts he is still alive," he said for her which caused her to tighten her grip on his clothing, it was already obvious that she didn't want the question to be asked, for fear of what the answer might be.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Engineering

Thanks to Mikael's spraying, the fire began to die down as the fore second of engineering was coated with foam. Cherry moaned and opened her eyes, quickly looking around to regain her senses. "I thought the ship had been destroyed," she admitted. "I guess I was just knocked out."

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Telemachus

After cleaning the wound Sune applied a bit of Hemosynth into the wound and applied some liquid bandage to keep it clean. "Okay, that will take care of you for now. I will check up on your progress later."

He turned to the lad, "Well, if you can give me the name, when we get back to our base I can have our computer Charisma run a search and see if we can find the person."

He then turned to Manabu, and stood up. "Hello again Kakita-Hei, glad to have a few extra hands to help with triage. This girl was wounded and has been treated and is clear of infestation. Perhaps you should take her aside to talk with her while I move on to the next person."

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Bridge

"Papa-Hei, proceed next door and fight the fire in the medical lab," Hanako replied to Michael. Next, she called down to engineering to see how things were going.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Kiko decided to leave the burnt and burst capacitors to someone who was actually sure what a capacitor was and helped Mikael finish off the fire that still existed.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

"Understood Command. Papadopolous-Hei, out." Michael closed the comm channel, frowning a bit at the shortening of his surname. Being addressed as Papa-Hei only made him feel older than what he actually was, 26 in yamataian years to be exact.

Making his way into the med bay from the briefing room, the Elysian could already see that this section of the ship was useless. The Medical Bay of the Eucharis resembled a blackened husk, all of the medical equipment destroyed. Acting quickly, he opened the med-bay to the vacuum of the briefing room, letting the lack of oxygen snuff out the fires.

"Taisa Hanako, this is Papadopoulos-Hei. The Medical Bay is a black husk with nothing salvagable. I've opened it to the vacuum in order to snuff out the fire. Should I move on to the Armory or begin checking the central area of the ship for hull damage?"

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Yaichiro was more than a little irritated by Hanako's response. She'd either completely and utterly missed the point, or completely and utterly ignored it. True, it was her right to do so, but there'd best be no negative consequences as a result, or there might be issue later if the ship's communications were checked later. He noted the communications coming to him and checked MEGAMI, to determine what was still damaged.

Code:
Endoh-Heisho, if the fires are under control, please start sealing hull breaches, especially in the Power Armor Bay if possible. If there's too much damage, then start on the passageways and cargo lift, so we can actually travel through the ship.

Code:
Nayacesen-Heisho, the orders to Cherry are currently irrelevant. Please repair what you can in Engineering and man the station so we can be underway as soon as possible.

When Helen and Manabu arrived, he acknowledged the pair and departed, returning with a CASTER Tape Dispenser from the Damage Control Station in the Maintenance Room near and behind the Shuttle Bay where the Maintenance Conduits met. Hanako's response to arrest them as needed wasn't so simple...arresting one might make the rest panic, and they weren't fully sure yet which were victims and which were aggressors, so he had another idea.

"Excuse me, everyone...there is concern that a few of you have been infected by some parasites. Now, we CAN and WILL treat the infected, that is not a concern, but in the meantime, for your safety and those around you, it is necessary to bind all of your hands."

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Kumiko frowned. Based on what she'd seen of the ship on their way back onboard, she doubted anything she could do alone would make any kind of impact on how well the armor bay could hold air, so she quickly pinged the MEGAMI for coordinates and teleported her way to the cargo elevator, setting to patching the elevator's holes as best she could.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Engineering

Takeyu smiled when he saw Cherry wake up, and then stood up to look around before replying to Yaichiro.

Code:
Roger that sir

He then got the message from the Taisa, prompting him to turn toward Cherry. "Main bridge is mauled, so the command staff will have to use engineering for the time being," he said to her before walking around Engineering to take in the full scope of the damage.

Despite what he had seen the NMX do to the ship back on Mitsuya, engineering had - in his opinion - fared better than he could've hoped. He then walked over to an operational terminal and started running various checks on the ships systems, though he knew these would take a while.

Code:
Taisa, fires are under control and are being put out as we speak. Cherry-Nito Heisho has some minor wounds and is now conscious. Most of the machinery down here has gotten through with little to no damage; however the main gun and some other electronics did not fair to well and will take time to repair.

There are also problems with the starboard power main which was damaged in the attack and partially severed. Otherwise, the port side engine cluster was mauled to piece. The Fold-drive should be ready in a few.

With his report done he turned to Cherry. "Let's see what we can repair," with that he rushed over to a damage control station and took out some tools. Then walked over to the power main for the starboard side of the ship and began to work on it.

Shuttlebay

The girl still remained quiet, the boy wasn't sure if it was due to what was going on, or if she was just frightened, then again with everything that had gone on he couldn't blame her.

With a smile he turned toward Sune. "His name is Nayacesen Takeyu, if you can locate him for her, it would mean a lot," he looked down at her for a moment, then back at Sune. The girl, having heard the name of her older brother, seemed to get more scared now than before.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Telemachus

Sune turned back towards the young girl, carefully studying her features. "Actually there is a Nayacesen Takeyu-Nitô Heisho serving aboard the Eucharis. It is conceivable that he is the same person. I will contact him, what is your name young lady?" Sune inquired.

Meanwhile he telepathically sent a message via his power armor.

To: Ketsurui-Taisa,
Nayacesen-Nitô Heisho
I just completed treating a young woman here aboard the Telemachus. She is one of the people we rescued from the derelict vessel. She claims to be the sister of Nayacesen-Heisho.

I require additional information to corroborate said claim.

Veronica System

At the outer edge of the Veronica system, a series of bright blue sparkling spheres appeared. When they faded, the YSS Yamato and her escort appeared in normal space. The YSS Yamato the newest Captial ship of the Second Expeditionary Fleet had just completed its first official journey. On the bridge of the Yamato stood Mikasa Sorano-Taisho the commander of the 2XF. A content smile was on her face as the Flagship secured from FTL.

Ikeda-Taisa approached the Taisho. His brown hair was as always perfect, and his blue eyes sparkled with pride. "All systems operating with normal parameters "Mikasa-Taisho, with your permission I will give the word for the group to proceed in system, and for the deployment of the Guriddo Defense network. " he said.

"Excellent work Ikeda-Taisa, I leave the ship and group in your capable hands. I will be in my quarters preparing some missives." Sorano said and left the bridge.

She walked to her quarters, she felt the subtle change in the vessels vibrations as got underway. Everywhere she looked there was a sense of newness and polish. She placed a hand on one of the bulkheads, "You have come a long way." she whispered. Then she resumed her journey to her quarters.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Yaichiro began using the CASTER Tape Dispenser to bind the hands of the unconscious first, since they were most likely to have been seen infected and were therefore stunned. He took care to not only use the tape on the wrists, but on the hands as well, to prevent them from using any hidden items on their person. He was careful to do it to no specific group over the others, not that it was easy for him to tell. Some looked worse off than others, but they were ALL survivors of a crashed ship and looked accordingly roughed up.

Yaichiro sent a telepathic communication, as short a range as he could manage, to Sune. He couldn't risk Sune reading it on a screen, lest a slaver read it.

"Nayacesen-Heisho did mention his story to the other Engineers on the Ikoi, and has missing family members he was seeking out through assorted avenues. Nayacesen-Heisho's ship was attacked by slavers and his family members killed and/or captured, including two younger sisters. These may be the slavers and their slaves.

I need to bind all their hands before making any arrests given how close the guilty are to potential hostages, and can't exactly differentiate with certainty who is hostile and victim until they're all interrogated and the drone footage analyzed. This situation may quickly go south if they aren't all restrained properly...I'm trying to use the parasites as a pretense."

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Bridge

With the fires now under control, Hanako got on the intercom, holding the microphone to her helmet so the sound could reach it. "Attention, this is the captain speaking," her slightly muffled voice blared. "We have stabilized the ship damage and will be going to Chiharu starbase in the Veronica system for repairs and logistics pickups. Prepare for space fold."

One of the slavers, who had a bloody hole hidden on his back, suddenly looked up as the parasite took him over. He pulled out a hidden .45 from his baggy pants and started popping off rounds at Yaichiro's chest as Yaichiro was typing up one of the slaves.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

"Certainly, Sune-Shoi. I should be glad to." With a smile, Manabu followed the Shoi's lead. He was about to turn and address the wounded girl before the boy spoke for her, and decided to listen quietly instead.

Nayacesen Takeyu... Sounded familiar. A moment's recollection was all it took before he correctly pinpointed it. My roommate, according to Blueberry-chui. How fortuitous! Manabu worried at his lower lip, which had since closed up from where he'd bit clean through it earlier in the battle. Should prove an exceptional increase of morale, if she recovers and reunites safely with Nayacesen-Nito Heisho. Could even help in curbing any hysterics among the civilians, should it prove necessary.

While Sune-Shoi and the two conversed, Manabu shifted to watch the Yaichiro-Chusa as he began binding each individual of their little survivor collective. A prudent decision, and hopefully one that wouldn't excite any tempers. After a moment's consideration, Manabu decided it was a reasonably easy way to gauge who was slave and slaver by possible reactions, on top of who might be infected with the parasites.

Speaking of which. Well, so much for keeping things calm and contained! Perhaps voicing the obvious, Manabu reached down and pulled free the service pistol from his hip, clearing his hip. Erring on the side of caution, taking the split-second that could prove costly later, he the Type 30 to stun setting and squeezed the trigger twice, lightly, in the direction of the shooter.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Yaichiro was not hurt, the Mindy 3A immune to small arms fire, but he feared what marks the ricocheting bullets would find once he was over the initial surprise. Without alternative, Yaichiro turned in hoped of blocking the bullets rather than letting them skid past, and raised his Aether Beam Saber Rifle in its Phased Pulse Rifle mode on the assailant in its stun configuration. It effectively had a built in NSP, and if Manabu's shots missed, he would fire and try his hand at subduing the hostile.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Manabu's shots hit! The man slumped back against his seat.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Yaichiro rushed forward, the first thing he tasked himself with to be securing the hostile's firearm. Thankfully, this new soldier was a good shot. He kept his own weapon at the ready, ejecting the magazine in favor of using the cable that was already connected to directly power the weapon. Tethered to his Mindy and reliant on it for power, it could not as easily be taken from him nor misused by the enemy.

"Everyone here who did NOT drop their arms on the planet should turn them over immediately. This is why you need bound -- for your own safety. Did any of the bullets ricochet and hit anyone? Also, anyone who feels their self-control slipping is requested to cry out so that they can be stunned and treated. I know it's not pleasant, but it's necessary."

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Engineering

Takeyu froze at the Shoi's message and promptly bit his lower lip, he had told others about his families woes but not everyone, mainly due to to concern and it being a private matter - then again - he had told some of his fellow engineers so maybe it wasn't so much a private matter anymore.

He wasn't sure what he was feeling though, if it was true then he was very greatful, but if it was some sick joke it would anger him greatly.

Thinking for a moment, he sent a message.

Code:
To: Ketsurui-Taisa, Jalen-Shoi

I do indeed have a younger sister who went missing almost two years ago, though I assumed she was dead up until some time ago when I was contacted by someone I had hired to look into the matters. He had informed me that there was evidence that she was actually still alive, and possibly a slave. Shortly before we left for our mission, I did put in a missing children's report just to be on the safe side, in case she was found.

My sisters name is Layven, she should have brown hair with some white streaks through it - a rarity I've noticed. My apologies for not disclosing these details sooner. If you desire a full explaination, along with the events that transpired before my joining the army, I can give those.

I do have to advise you that she is Hemophobic

With that he leaned up against the wall and placed his hand on his helmet. Then he waited for a response, he didn't just want to rush down there, the Taisa 'did' just order them to make preparations for a jump.

Shuttlebay

Her mood lifted as she heard what Sune had just said, her grip on the boys clothing lessoned. She turned and looked up at him. "R-really!? He survived...? He.... survived...." she said as small tears came from her eyes, her attention was briefly taken when she heard the weapons fire which died down quickly.

She was still frightened though; and when she looked down at the blood on her clothing her eyes went wide as if her brain had finally remembered something. The boy looked at this, then covered her eyes with his hand. He then looked around. "Is there any place we can go? Anywhere but here?" he asked Sune.

In another part of the shuttle, two of the slavers looked at one another and then pulled out concealed pistols and tossed them aside. Another yanked out a grenade of sorts and sat that down on the seat.

"We couldn't exactly trust you you know, your a Yamataian," said one of the slavers as he backed away.

One of the slaves who had been hit, one who had been calling out to be killed on the planet earlier, was struggling to keep herself concious. She then let out a cry, due to finding it hard to actually speak for some reason, and that fear of losing control only added to her already frayed and severed nerves.

The main slaver boss just shook his head. "Ya want my piece? Pry it from my cold dead hands," he glared at Yaichiro and folded his arms over his chest. Everyone who wasn't always occupied with what had just happened was looking at him, and the slaves were backing off, afraid of what might happen.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Manabu released the long-held breath from his lungs in a single, audible exhale. He took a second to hold both of his hands in the air, as if signaling that he was no longer going to fire, before securing it in his holster. Yaichiro seemed to have things in hand damage control-wise, and Manabu opted for PR spin.

"It's in your best interests to listen to Chusa Kage," Manabu extolled, nodding his way. "This gentleman in his seat was only stunned; our only interest is in your comfort and safety, and in seeing you to your homes in one piece. We can best achieve this together by working together. As the Chusa mentioned, if anyone requires aid please call out to us now. If not, you can help us by remaining peacefully seated, hands in your laps if able."

He paused for a effect, acknowledging the stand-offish slaver but choosing not to confront him - Yaichiro seemed better suited for that -, then continued. "I know perhaps you are afraid of us, or have... strong 'political' feelings towards us. We are not interested in subduing you, or initiating some brawl. We want to see everyone safely back in their own element, regardless of what or who they were planetside." Perhaps not entirely true, but that mattered little and less at the moment. Manabu took a knee beside the fearful, hit slave, having since cried out, struggling to maintain consciousness. He laid his left hand atop hers, and despite his right not being in quite perfect working condition, lingered near his service pistol. No chances, especially if this one had a parasite as well. Speaking quietly and as soothingly as he could manage. "Just relax, and try to breathe. We'll see you made well in only a few moments."

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Telemachus

Continuing gunfire in the shuttle was not an option, in these close quarters one of the survivors be they slavers or slaves would wind up dead. Sune thought.

He drew his NSP from his butt pack and thumbed it to the stun setting, aimed at center mass and fired at the slaver all in one smooth motion. With satisfaction the bolt slammed into the individual and Sune watched him crumble. "You heard the man Kage-Chusa, pry the weapon from him, though he is not dead. That would be too quick." he said with a cold edge to his voice.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Yaichiro gathered up the weapons surrendered, and was sure to note that the grenade still had its pin in place. He put the weapons in the box where they had obtained the medical supplies and shut it, keeping it close to Helen. He then approached the knocked out male, and started to search his body for weapons. He purposefully did not respond to Sune's comment, as there was no need to further agitate the slavers...

He also sent a silent order to his Power Armor's AIES, to quietly scan for any weaponry aside from that which held by their allies. He'd bind the stunned male like the others as well.
