RP: YSS Eucharis [Mission 11.1] The Torchbearers

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

"Well, if the Taisa specifically ordered hardware brought aboard, there's likely a reason for it being there. I've made sure the Fabrication Area has a bit more than the standard materials stock, since we seem to get banged up nicely. There should be more than enough extra to make something as compact and basic as a fusion reactor and a capacitor."

Yaichiro kept his eye on sensors. The recommendations to adapt the CFS signatures and communications to non-standard frequencies had already been sent to the other ships and everything was green, but Yaichiro was still running through things to try in his mind. As of right now, he was keeping an eye on the Eucharis' sensors for enemy activity. This system wasn't necessarily within friendly territory, after all. He didn't alter the sensors' mode from what it was set to on the bridge, but he figured an extra pair of eyes wouldn't hurt.

Takeyu tapped his chin thoughtfully. "In that case I'll finish up the blueprints and then see about running some simulations, if everything panes out well I'll have a prototype built in the fabrication bay when we aren't at risk of being attacked," he said and then thought for a moment. "Chusa? Was there anything specific you wanted me to monitor?" he asked though he was already monitoring a few things, he had no problems monitoring more.

While he waited for a response, he was also having a casual conversation with Charisma, related to fusion energy.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Bridge

After downloading the various ship specs to his ICP, Sune began setting the passive sensors of the ship to look for electronic signatures. They already had the NMX sensor profile, he was now pulling up data on the MIKO. The original concept had been developed before the UOC's defection, so he could pull up the basic specifications. Obviously he would not have any data on changes since the original concept, but it gave him a start.

With the data he programmed a series of algorithms indented to help detect and identify vessels by their own sensor emissions. Once he was satisfied with his initial work, he then began feeding the data into the EWS system to determine optimal configuration to use against each. After all while it was hoped that a non-combative solution could be employed, there was no reason to not be prepared for a hostile one.

"Taisa, I have programmed a search algorithm to look for NMX and UOC vessels by their emissions. I am also feeding the data to our EWS for use in developing a countermeasure." he reported.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Thankfully, no enemy forces were in the area.

"Commence operation when ready," Hanako ordered on the intercom.

Kumiko walked into the Engineering bay, looking down at a datapad, frowning. She looked up, glanced around, and made her way to her usual terminal, since no one was using it at the moment. After setting her datapad down, she looked up, and turned her head towards Yaichiro. "I'm sorry for being late, Chusa. I was looking into some of the wiring they replaced."

"As long as there's a good reason, Endoh-Heisho, since it didn't hurt this time. Just be more careful -- we're being observed by dozens of ships and an assigned SAINT agent. And Nayacesen-Hei, I don't think anything specific needs to be monitored at the moment. Just standard observations, plus your design and simulation."

Yaichiro observed the operation and the general condition of the ship, as well as pondering supplemental options for Project THOUGHT as he observed...perhaps he should add a winch to the design specs.

Power Armor Bay

Once Mikael was relieved that he had choosen the right model of suit in his haste. He didn't hear anything from from Kiko. A quick self-diagnostic program indicated that his suit's communication suite was working, so it was not his end. He just shrugged and continued on.

Once he was sure everything was on the up and up within his suit, he moved himself from the Power Armor Bay into the Shuttle Bay to wait on the other two before he could launch.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Engineering

Keeping one eye on the status displays, and another on a different console, Takeyu was basically multitasking. With Charisma's help, he was simulating different conditions for a module he had in mind. From operating it in cold conditions, to high heat conditions. He wasn't the least bit surprised to find that a fusion generator operating in a high heat enviroment, such as a desert, would operate poorly. Yet operating within a cold enviroment, within a certain degree, would allow the generator to operate at an optimal performance. Of course, the high degree of detection was still there, the heat was a major factor, something he would have to address later.

Naturally, an enviroment that was neither cold nor hot seemed to be the most ideal though. Makes sense, not much I can do about the heat build up though. Other than the pilot submerging the suit in water or temporarily shutting the generator down when he isn't at risk of being found, he folded his arms over his chest.

Hmmm, this could work... and that, he smiled and made further modifications to the module. Stopping briefly he typed in a set of commands, double checking a system, before going back to monitoring other systems. He also pulled up some additional details on fusion energy, making certain he had his information correction. That should do it, though simulations are nice and dandy, sometimes, the faults with a new piece of technology aren't realized until it's put into practical use, with that he continued the simulations to see if there were any other things he could change.

"I wonder how the Armor team is doing," He craned his head up at the ceiling.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Bridge

Sune started an analysis of the encounter with the Lorath. Focusing on their sensor spectrum.

He checked the power armor bay and noted that so far none of the assigned personnel had deployed. He picked up the handset and dialed the armor bay. "Armor Team, Report what is holding up your deployment?" he sent.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

When the announcement of the new orders played on the speakers, Kiko put down her crate and shrugged. She went to the armor bay by the most direct route she could. The second announcement came while she was putting her armor on. She had a free hand and used it to salute the empty air. "Positioning issues, sir. Our previous orders had us stationed in the cargo bay, and we had to wait for the cargo lift to be cleared to take it to the armor bay," she reported.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Shuttle Bay

Mikael was in his usual position with his arms cross his chest. He stared at the entrance waiting for the other two to come. He waited for a few minutes, but neither showed up. He sighed, checked to make sure his rifle was still attached to his suit, and proceeded to exit the Eucharis.

"Harris Nito-Hei deploying" Mikael said, communicating with the Bridge as he throttled his gravimetric drives to half capacity so the rest of the team could catch up. He beam lined straight for the fighter's cable. "Kiko and....what is your name anyways Elysian?" he said radioing the rest of the team. " I am proceeding to the cable for attachment. Catch up once you to launch."

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Michael was out of the armor bay after a few seconds. He had been informed to meet the rest of the team in the cargo bay, and not that they were too launch from the armor bay. Apparently, he had missed the entire briefing by dint of on barely getting onto the ship. Nonetheless, he had a job to do.

Michael's Hikael accelerated rapidly, gaining ground on Mikael's DAISY and falling in behind it. The Elysian returned Mikael's message, his annoyance obvious in his voice. "Santo Hei Papadopoulos here. If you hadn't ignored me, you would know that."

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Bizankro System

"Typically new people introduce themselves first where I am from before proceeding to trying to scent new territory. I always thought it was universial...guess I be wrong." Mikael said as he monitored his sensors. He eyed the probe and made a minor adjustment in heading that would take him in between the cable and probe.

"Now Papado...ummm...I'll have to come up with a nickname for you so I don't butcher you name. Proceed towards the fighter's cable and prepare to attach it to the probe." pointing towards Michael and then towards the cable. "I am going to check on the probe." he said. A few moments later he throlled his drives to full and pulled away from the Elysian.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Bizankro System

The Chibi MEGAMI probe looked like it was in good condition. While one of the starfighters flew around it, the other lined itself up to slowly drag the cable contraption over the probe so one of the armors could start attaching the various D-rings onto the probes recessed attachment points.

"Armor team this is Hammer Two, are you ready?" the fighter transmitted.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

When Kiko finally got into her armor and out of the bay, she immediately made a beeline for the probe. She managed to finish matching the probe's vector and speed around when Hammer Two signaled. "I'm ready, Harris-Santo Hei. I believe you have seniority," she sent.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Michael frowned inside his armor. The one bad thing about having to be busted down to Santo Hei despite his ten years of experience is that all these stupid Nekos and Yamataians think they have seniority over him. Well, Michael wasn't going to have any of that. He was a proud elysian, and for the past ten years he had fought on and off against Yamatai, other Elysians, and the Mishuvyathar. Even so, Harris-Hei did outrank him, even if he was green and pitiful compared to himself. So Michael would follow his orders. For Now.

"Understood, Sir." Michael responded to Harris, And accelerated towards the attachment point, matching his speed with the fighter's cable so that he didn't ram into it, and then taking hold of it.

"Papadopoulos, Ready."

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Bridge

Sune allowed his analysis of the Lorath engagement to continue. Meanwhile he directed the visual sensors to allow him to monitor the progress of the power armor team. He had the image display on one of the secondary screens in front of him.

Our infantry crew could probably do with some training drills to help them learn to function together. We only have one senior member. He thought, and made an anotation on his to do list on his ICP.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Bizankro System

"Hammer Two, this is the Armor team. Ready to commence attachment of the cable to probe when ever you are." Mikael radioed to the fighter once everyone was in position.

"Papadopoulos Santo-Hei..." saying it very slowly so not to completely butcher it. "Keep the cable stable. Inoue Santo-Hei can assist if it proves to problematic. Don't need it or us damaging the probe. Don't think any of us are rich enough to cover the damages." Mikael said doing his best directing the two. He kept just enough distance from the probe to immediately start fastening the D-rings on the cable to the attachment points on the probe. But he was being careful not to touch anything clearly marked "no step" or looked like a sensor array.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Bizankro System

The fighter accelerated a bit in reverse to keep from jerking the tow line. "Waiting on you," Hammer Two transmitted.

"Enemy sensor contact!" another voice came on the radio. "This is scout 261. Probable NMX scout ship detected on the perimeter."

"Continue operation," Hanako ordered. "Escort ships, go chase him away."

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Bizankro System

"Roger that." Mikael said in response. The report of the more then likely NMX contact made Mikael grin for a bit and then he focused back on the probe. "Bring that over here Papadopoulos." saying the Elysian's name very slowly again. He extended his nearest arm towards the cable in preparation.
