RP: YSS Eucharis [Mission 11.1] The Torchbearers

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

The pod tried to ram into Michael, not really trying to survive, just to take him out by drawing all the missiles and gunfire onto him.

Yaichiro, with his AMES on, monitored the situation and made sure everything was ready to go. The craft was still ready for a space fold as needed, and the soldier tried to keep an eye on what ships were closest to the pod.

While he stayed ready, he pondered alternatives...expanding the Starfighter's CFS around the probe would have weakened it, even if the pilot had the knowledge of how to do so, and would requite extra time to tow the winch in. Pondering the question, he accessed the computer's data on the Chibi MEGAMI Probe's specifications before texting Hanako.

Code:
Taisa, perhaps we should consider downloading the contents of the probe from here since there is risk of its destruction. If we do that, and the probe was destroyed, we'd still have the data we need while the enemy may think they've been successful. Its specs do note advanced communications capabilities.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Mikael shifted some of his shots from the pod to the missiles it was spitting out towards Michael. It was all Mikael could do from his range from the Battlepod. "Hammer Two this is Armor Team Leader, status on the probe." Mikael transmitted to the fighter.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Kumiko shrugged into the AMES suit, quickly returning to her screen. "Chusa, should we start shifting the weapons and shielding up to combat levels, just in case? If they've sent these first couple of drones, they might be preparing to come back in force." She frowned slightly, thinking about pushing more power to the sensors regardless, just in case.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Yaichiro looked to Kumiko, a bit surprised. Wasn't she paying attention? "They've been online since we entered Readiness Condition 2. We've even fired our weapons already..."

Takeyu wasn't feeling right, he wasn't sick, nor in any pain, just that he felt something wasn't right. Whatever is on that probe might be more useful than any of us think, either that, or the NMX just don't want us to haev it. Either way, we have all of these ships and yet only a 'single' battlepod appeared. Could this be overconfidence or just pure desperation? he shock his head. No, the Mishu aren't stupid, they didn't get this far in the war by making amateurish mistakes. There's got to be something else going on, with that he turned his attention back to his station and made ready to make any alterations that the bridge, or the Chusa, ordered. Though his worrisome expression was noticable on his face.

However, deep down in his mind, he worried that something just wasn't right, and he hoped it was just being paranoid.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Kiko switched her Mindy's left arm from shield mode to burst fire mode and added its firepower to the barrage headed toward the battlepod. If it managed to survive for long enough that she thought she might hit Michael's armor, she switched to charged shots and waited for a clear shot. She kept her armor between the NMX pod and the probe in case the change in course was a feint.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Mikael stopped firing at the battlepod once it got to close to Michael. He did all he could possibly do. Not switching the Daisy's countermeasure pods to the offensive ones was cutting into his firepower a bit. And he was to far any of that to help him.

He was doing his best monitoring both the team and the probe. He still kept his position over the battlepod, but he was now transiting at a moderate speed to put himself in between the probe and the battlepod.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

The last pod exploded directly in front of the Elysian, transforming into a quickly expanding cloud of shrapnel still rapidly moving and aimed at him like a shotgun blast.

"This is Hammer 2," the towing fighter radioed. "We are clear of the enemy and approaching the science vessel. Prepare to unload the probe and bring it aboard."

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Michael reacted as fast as he could, wishing for a brief second that he had something he could put into place between himse- The Transphasic rifle.

Thinking and acting fast, Michael threw his armor's large and heavy rifle and the oncoming cloud of debris, using a quick burst of his thrusters to dodge out of the way just in case.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

After a quick check around the area, Kiko moved her armor behind the probe and waited for it to get close enough to the science vessel to load it.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Bridge

"Enemy craft have been destroyed. No sign of any more enemy vessels at the moment Taisa. But then we never detected them prior to arrival." He reported to Hanako.

He picked up the intercom and dialed the speakers in Engineering, "Bridge to Engineering, have someone check out the Ks-MIES-E3013 and Ks-MIES-E3014 sensors. I want to know why we did not detect those NMX Battlepods until they arrived in normal space. Report when complete. Jalen-Shoi out."

He dialed the channel to the power armor team. "Armor team members, report your status."

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

The fighter gently brought the probe to a halt just outside the open bay door on the back end of the science vessel.

The technicians could detect a lot of interference and jamming caused by the ongoing UOC blackout.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

"Armor 2, undamaged and loading the probe, sir," Kiko reported. She grabbed the probe with the Mindy's arms and set it down farther inside the science vessel's bay. Once it was secure, she left the bay so it could close around the probe.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Kumiko nodded to herself, not sure how she'd missed that, actually. Nonetheless, she went ahead and started testing the sensors, though she wasn't sure what could've happened with the systems running as smoothly as they had been. "Sorry, Chusa. I don't know what I was thinking. I'm checking the sensor systems now, though one of you might want to check on your own, just in case it's a system based problem."

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Engineering

Takeyu's hands moved as he typed in the commands needed to start the diagnostics on the mixed sensor array. "Running diagnostics on the mixed sensor array, will run another on the mass detector in just a moment," said Takeyu as he changed his station from showing the details on the shield and weapons system, to showing the diagnostic's information from the two systems he was now looking into.

His eyes were glued to his display, looking at the information and seeing if anything appeared wrong.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Yaichiro raised an eyebrow, detecting a fair amount of interference, but nothing faulty with the actual sensors yet. He found this very strange, to be honest. The Ks-MIES-E3013 sensors weren't really intended to detect things as tiny as battlepods, but the Ks-MIES-E3014 sensors were meant to detect much more precisely...

"It happens sometimes, Endoh-Heisho -- just try to be a bit more alert. Anyway, it seems like it was caused by interference...but if this is from the UOC blackout, its range is greater than I expected. What are everyone else's results turning up? Anything in our system?"

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Mikael focused back on the mission completely now that the Elysian was out of danger. He continued to fly to the port flank of the probe until the fighter stopped in front of an open bay of the Science Vessel.

"Armor team members, report your status." Jalen's voice came over the radio in his helmet as he grabbed the other end of the probe as Kiko moved it towards the open bay of the Science Vessel and secured it into place.

"Armor team leader here, Inoue-Hei has not sustained any damage. The Elysian does not appear to have sustain any damage as well. And I have sustained mostly superficial damage while protecting the probe. We have secured the probe in the Science Vessel.Shall we remain at here and await shuttle transportation as per previous mission brief. Or return immediately to the Eucharis?" Mikael radioed back to the Eucharis.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Engineering

Takeyu watched the diagnostic results scrolls across his scene, detailing everything that the mixed sensor array was doing. "I've got the results for the mixed sensor array, running diagnostics on the mass detector now," he then turned his attention to the mixed arrays results.

He watched the results and studied them, he looked for anything that appeared out of the ordinary. Power transfer requests, those are normal for a system that is scanning. No data corruption, no sudden lose of power... maybe it is just interference? Or maybe it's a problem that the diagnostics aren't picking up, something more local to the dome itself maybe?... hmmmm he rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Nothing on my end, but the report still isn't fully completed so if I see anything I'll let you know sir," he then turned toward Endoh-Heisho. "Do you have anything Endoh-Heisho?"

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Kumiko frowned. "I'm getting nothing as well, which means either it was interference, or something is wrong with the system itself. Was any of the work last time we were in the dock on or around the sensor systems?"
