Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Michael seemed to frown at his two teammates, crossing his arms as he reluctantly followed them. "It seems as though it would be incredibly disrespectful and sacrilegious to accept a holiday gift from the "daughter" of one of the people who forced me off my home-planet. Still..." Michael trailed off, closing his eyes briefly to think, "It would be bad form to not accept a present from my commanding officer."

Corridor outside Engineering

Takeyu smiled weakly at what Kumiko said. "True," was all he said in response, then glanced over at her and then back forward.

Cargobay

When he got to the cargobay bay, he accepted his gifts from the Taisa and those given by the Shoi. "My thanks Taisa," he bowed to her and then kicked off a message of thanks to Sune.

He then remembered, this would be the second holiday season that he would spend without his family and that pained him a bit.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Yaichiro also sent his own text that he would be unable to attend due to the Condition 4 or higher, and would therefore be unable to receive his gifts at the moment...

Taisa, I am unable to attend due to Condition 4 or higher requiring a presence in Engineering. I have also obtained gifts which are in my quarters...but due to my unfamiliarity with some of the crew, some are only receiving money.

Receiving money may not be a very good gift to some, but I recall Miles doing the same for me when I first came aboard, and it was a great help at the time.

Toshiro had initially planned to only obtain gifts for Hanako, since he knew few people, but then he felt like giving some gifts to the revived sprites, especially some money to help them get their lives in order. It was not easy to start a life, he knew...

He considered the items he had obtained, both for everyone and specificly.

Code:
All (and in addition to other gifts):

-5000 KS

Code:
Hanako-specific:

Kimonos:

-Kimono with Pink background with Sakura blossom pattern
-Kimono with Dark Blue background with Sakura blossom pattern
-Kimono with Yellow-orange-pink gradient background with Plumeria and Sakura blossom pattern
-Kimono with Dark Blue background with Plumeria and Sakura blossom pattern

Part of the gift is paid replacement should they be destroyed in combat.

Code:
Sprite-specific:

-Kimono with Dark Blue background with blossom pattern of the plant from which they are named (Cherry's is slightly darker than Hanako's Sakura Kimono)

Part of the gift is paid replacement should they be destroyed in combat.

-5000 extra KS each to aid in "life restarting" expenses since majority have recently been ST'd

Code:
Takeyu-specific

-10000 extra KS, for helping locate family members

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Kumiko shrugged, following Takeyu as they made their way to the cargobay, thinking. Nothing in particular at the moment, just in general about anything. As they arrived, she bowed slightly to Hanako, and accepted her gifts, from both her and Sune. "Thank you, Hanako-sama. I appreciate this." She also sent a quick thank you note to Sune, though she intended to thank him in person as soon as she got the chance.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

"You are welcome," Hanako smiled to Kumiko. "I want everyone to know they are appreciated. Every crew member plays their role in making sure we are victorious and that all survive to continue the fight against the Mishhuvurthyar."

Hanako returned to the bridge so Sune could go down to the cargo bay.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Eucharis Bridge

Sune looked up from his console and the latest simulation he was running on possible situations they would encounter. With all the unknown factors, the only thing that seemed likely is that things would turn ugly, but that the presence of the task force would probably help mitigate how ugly. At least until someone recognized them....

"Taisa, all ships are at Condition 3. The Carrier Chitose has deployed two squadrons of Hayabusa fighters and two Kawarime to establish a perimeter around the task force."

He stood up, "I will be back in a few minutes. I am headed down to the cargo bay to collect my gifts, and store them."

He crossed the bridge, and stepped out into the corridor. He moved with practiced ease through the corridors. Enjoying the opportunity to do so without crisis, flames or battle damage.

He paused briefly at the entrance to the cargo bay, taking a moment to look at the crew members still there. He fixed the image in his memory, too many of his memories of the crew seemed to involve blood, carnage, and death. This one made a pleasant change.

Sune crossed the cargo bay to the box where Hanako's gifts were stacked. He picked up his package and opened it. He examined the markings on the sword, and recognized the Tamahagane kanji. The sword would make a nice addition to his others. He looked at the leather coat, and decided it was rather eye catching as far as he was concerned.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Cargobay

Takeyu bowed curteously to the Taisa, then left to stow his gifts in his assigned cabin. Once he was done, he looked over the sword and smiled, he loved sword - more than he loved guns. He stared at it for a few moments, before putting it away and heading straight back to Engineering.

"I can take over for the moment sir if you want to go and pick up your gifts in the Cargobay," Takeyu said to Yaichiro as he entered. "Um.. and thank you for the gift, it means a lot," he smiled though he was never very good at giving compliments so he just left it at that - and hoped Yaichiro understood that he was grateful.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Hanako returned to the bridge and got back on the intercom again.

"Fun and enjoying the gifts will have to wait," the Taisa said. "Set Condition 2 throughout the ship. All hands report to combat stations and standby for fold." She sent a similar message to the task force and set coordinates for the Mitsuya System.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Cargo Bay

Sune left the cargo bay at a run, making his way first towards his quarters. He stopped only long enough to deposit his new possessions on the bed. Then securing his cabin door he made his way to the bridge.

When Sune arrived on the bridge he took a moment to examine the room, then took his position at the science station. He activated his customization settings, to multitask the terminal.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Without a true assigned post, Helen was left with a lot of nothing specific to do, and it showed as she stood by upon the bridge like some sort of very expensive to produce scarecrow or statue. During the course of the operations which took place, she merely served as an observer and sentry. Though, even as she seemed unproductive at a glance, she still worked diligently as she monitored sensors, communication lines, ship systems, and composed reports to be sent back to her commanding officers.

When the announcement of gifts was made, that was when Helen took the opportunity to step away from the bridge for a time, only to place year-end commemorative cards near the doors to each of the crew quarters. Since she had just been assigned, she was not about to presume to hand out gifts. Once her commemorative cards were distributed, she took a quick stop by the cargo bay to retrieve the gifts which had been acquired by the Princess Hanako, and with a "Thank you, ma'am." She took her gifts in hand and walked them to her quarters before returning to the bridge.

Helen's timing was excellent as she arrived when Condition 2 was announced. As the Eucharis went to fold, she noted the intended destination with a small frown. She knew that the system designated E-7 had fallen, mostly through intel which she had gathered during her time within the Lorath Matriarchy. In her mind, she had a reasonable expectation of what they would encounter, quite likely a parasite infested hole of a system. It was pessimistic on her part, but she was used to the worst possible scenario. None of the thoughts which went through Helen's mind were made apparent on her features though, as she simply waited and watched the sensor readouts.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

"You're welcome. I figured I should put in some money to track them down plus the amount everyone else received. You can't exactly track them on your own while aboard the Eucharis, right? You need money to buy the services of others for that..."

Yaichiro had left Engineering to obtain his gifts and put them in his quarters, before returning to his post as the Taisa ordered Condition 2. Hopefully everyone who was getting a kimono got their gift, aside from the money which was already accessible to everyone.

Code:
This is Engineering, signaling fold systems ready.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Engineering

Takeyu smiled and manned his station, he double checked the diagnostic report on the mass detector and dumped the results to a secure folder for him to look into when they weren't busy.

He brought up the status screens for the Lorath Fusion Reactors, along with that of the Fold Drive. "Here's hoping we don't have a run in with another enemy ship in Foldspace," he turned partly in his chair after he heard Yaichiro enter. "But that was just wierd, I've never heard of an instance of two ships colliding in Foldspace," he turned back to his station and looked over the information scrolling across his screen.

He tapped the keyboard and smiled at how well the systems appeared to be running though he did realize that he was ranting so he decided to change the subject, "I'm going to keep an eye on the Mixed Sensor array along with the Mass Detector, just to make certain we don't have any further problems," he then glanced off to his right. "Though I'd feel better if we could perform a physical check of the hardware, but no matter," he silenced himself and put his attention entirely on his job.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Kiko's wordless shock at Hanako's generosity kept her from refusing until she heard her explain her reasons to Kumiko. She picked up her box and took it to her quarters to examine its contents. She was in the middle of looking up possible shipboard instructors in the use of katanas when the announcement of Condition Two came over the intercom. After getting into her environment suit, she jogged back to the armor bay.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

All volunteers for the ground reconnaissance team please call Shosa Klein on the bridge, Hanako added to the intercom instructions. If space was clear, she figured they would do a quick boots-on-the-ground scouting mission to look for UOC survivors.

"Shosa Klien, organize a landing party. You may use the vehicles we brought and power armor and light infantry."

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Engineering

Takeyu glanced up at the ceiling and listened to the announcement, another planetary operation. Mmm... I knew picking this assignment was a good idea, a grin spread on his face.

He then sent off a message to the Shosa, though he worded it carefully considering he was dealing with the officer he had made a bad first impression toward in the previous mission.

Code:
Shosa? Nayacesen-Nito Heisho here. Although I made myself look like a fool at the start of the last mission, I'd like an oppertunity to make amends and volunteer my services for this mission

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Kumiko looked up as she got back to the engineering bay, absentmindedly listening to the message. She shrugged, and shot as quick message of her own out, then continued back to her station, bringing up the diagnostics she started before she stepped out. Still nothing on my diagnostics... Maybe it was just interference.

Code:
I'd like to come with on the ground mission, Shosa. I've had plenty of time fighting since we haven't usually had much infantry, so I won't be hindrance.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Michael frowned again as he was showered by gifts; having only been on the Eucharis for a matter of minutes, he was surprised by how tight knit the crew seemed to be. Most Elysian ships tended to be highly regimented, and people either kept to themselves or to a small group of friends. Here, on the Eucharis, it was different; everyone seemed to know everyone else, and there always seemed to be a helping hand nearby. This proved it to Michael. Even though there would, of course, be some initial distrust between Elysians and Nekovalkyrja, the war would bond the two cultures, and the generation that would grow up following the war would be free of the hate.

Michael smiled broadly as he returned his gifts to his quarters, sending a message to the Shosa.

Code:
Excuse me maam, but I don't think that probe recovery is enough for me to prove my worth on this ship, being an elysian and all. I'd like permission to join you on your mission. I have five years of military experience in the ECN, and am trained in guerilla warfare and COIN tactics.

As he tried on his new jacket, adorned with the Eucharis patch and the patches of various Elysian vessels and infantry units, Michael thought to himself, somewhat pervertedly: "I wonder how Neko are in bed?"

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Mikael grabbed his gifts first from Hanako and then from Sune when he arrived, bowing to both of them. He quickly left the Cargo Bay to make a quick stop at his cabin to drop off his new gifts. Just as he was entering his cabin, the Eucharis went back to Condition 2.

He pulled out his AMES suit from the bag he had the gear in and quickly put the tight fitting enviromental suit and helmet. He made his way to the Power Armor Bay to repair his Daisy.

Once he reached the Bay he rolled a toolkit over to his Daisy. He then shifted though the inventory logs to find out where the replacement armor panels were. He grunted a little as he moved them the ones he needed from their storage locations and over to his Daisy one by one.
He pryed off the covers on his suit that hid the bolts that secure the panels he was replacing.

But before his started, he pulled out his communicator and sent Shosa Klien a text.

Code:
Ma'am, I would like to volunteer for the ground recon mission.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Eucharis Bridge

Sune checked the status of the fold engines, all systems appeared green. The next destination for the Task Force was inside of what most likely was hostile territory. The ships had moved into position, with the Chiaki and fighters forming around the carrier so they would be carried by its fold field.

He picked up the handset and switched to the intership frequency. "Eucharis to all Task Force Vessels. Make final preparation for Fold to Mitsuya System. Task force will fold in three waves.

First wave will consist of All Gunships and Scouts they will ensure the departure point is secure.

Second wave will consist of all Capital ships and their escorts.

Last wave will consist of the the Nougaku and Rikei class vessels.

Waves will jump in three minute intervals. "

He did one last check of the coordinates and the Eucharis' systems.

"All Systems are green Taisa, commencing fold." He said sending the command to the drives. Around the Eucharis a brilliant blue sphere of energy formed with similar spheres forming around the other gunships and the scouts. Once the bubbles were fully formed the ships were transported from normal space to FTL with their departure marked by the fading blue glow.

Re: [Mission 11] The Torchbearers

Yaichiro pondered how many of the technicians would be leaving to fight this time. He realized that compared to practically everyone, he had low levels of true combat experience, and by default that meant he stayed behind until it was a last resort. It wasn't like he was itching to fight or anything, but it brought a small amount of shame when he realized the technicians would probably enter combat.

Shaking the thought from his mind, he set his mind to his role and hoped that he'd at least have Cherry's support from now on in case something necessitated leaving Engineering to fix. Having just one Engineer aboard in combat proved to be difficult when that Engineer couldn't leave his post as needed.
