"Are these recent first contacts your first?" Hanako asked. "What is the structure of the Gartagen government? Also, what freedoms were lost and which have not returned? I am interested in how your laws are created and passed."

Nathanial

Tarsk stood resolute and expressionless as the tall winged man before him turned out to be a very thoughtful individual, and decided to choose his words very carefully. Tarsk smirked as the Elysian spoke to him, and politely awaited his turn to respond. “Forgive me for being presumptuous, I know of the Elysians thanks to the civilian access to PANTHEON Commodore Yuki Toshiro provided us with. I find it interesting that there are different species in the Yamataian Military.” Tarsk said calmly. “I am curious to know what it is like being a non-Yamataian who is in the Star Army of Yamatai?”

Yaichiro

The male bowed at the arriving presence of Yaichiro and quickly addressed him “Of course, I am more then happy to answer any questions you may have, provided you can answer a few of my own. How do you feel about working with different sections of your military? Is there ever any conflicts of interest…with the civilian government?”

Ramiro

Di looked around, and listened solemnly as she was given a tour. “I want to ask about your technology, but that would be rude.” She then turned to Ramiro and smiled showing her sharp front teeth. “This class of ship…is it a war ship? If so what role does it fill?” She said as she turned from Ramiro and began approaching what appeared to be a collection of ash that was bonding to the bulkhead.”

Takeyu

The council woman paused with interest at his question. “While you are away? Your females do not accompany their mates into battle?” She said as the implications of Takeyu’s remarks were a definite cultural difference that had the council woman perplexed. “Gartagens mate for life. and once the bonding is completed the male and female pair are nearly inseparable, and often take on the same profession. Military and government service also sees bonded pairs sharing the same rank and position.”

Sune

Suns scans would detect high levels of carbon dioxide, as well as large amounts of dust and debris. Radition counts would be negligible, as this city never got hit during the War of light. As far as the danger of it, there was a slight carcinogen, but nothing Yamataian science could not handle.

Sune would encounter a very young woman, who had turned and snapped a picture of him. Her black skin clashed with the thick white robe she wore over body. attached to her right fore arm was what appeared to be a hand held computer emitting a holographic projection to in front of her face. The projection was giving a very detailed scan of Sune’s physiology. “Fascinating..” She muttered. “The biology is very advanced, very sturdy.” She then looked up to Sune. “I hope my scanning of your body is not taboo for your culture, or policy.’ She said planting her face back into her scan. “Since I heard about your kind I have been dying to get an up close look..”

“Oh look at me…I am Doctor Jiban..a government physician.”

Hanako

“Yes, your people are the first contact our race has had…this being the more official set up. I heard Commodore Toshiro’s invitation was a bit of luck. We also have contacted the Nepleslians as well. They wished to be here at these talks, but I had personally objected to it. I wanted to meet you and your people, with out bias. We may be new to space, but we can form our own opinions.”

Tam continued to guide the Hanako and the other Neko through the halls of the palace. The trio would see a pair of guards at the end of every corridor. The Guards made no moves, except to raise their weapons to the sky at the site of the Fleet Marshall and his entourage as he passed. “The government is authoritarian, we have a central leader who presides over everything, and makes the big choices. Running an entire planet is a lot for one man to do, so the planet is divided into regional provinces, which forms the council of regional advisors. These advisors bicker and argue over which laws are to be passed, and manage each region they are elected by the people to over see. The Leader however has final say in the manner at these days acts as more of a mediator or a tie breaker when the council is dead locked…or pausing to beat each other up. One day I will have to bring you to a meeting of the council of advisors, it is actually quite entertaining if you are into blood sports.” Tam said with a smile.

“As far as freedoms go, we are all under one nation now, so we are no longer free to escape its rule if we so wish. We also have a birth control program in effect stating we may only have three children per mated pair…as a way to slow down over population. The economy is heavily run by the government, to help manage resources, but with the colony drive getting ready to start up, more freedoms are to be gained.”

“Things were much the moment the Union took control of the planet.”

Tam would then pause and let massive round door slide open. Tam would guide the trio through into a massive banquet hall that was lavishly adorned. There were Large tables that sat about two feet off the floor with servants and attendants stocking them up with freshly prepared meals. Scantly clad girls and musicians began taking their positions, and more importantly, the room was filling up with Uniforms, and what appeared to be members of the civilian government. “We have provided a welcoming party for you and your people…a chance to try our cuisine, and get first hand experience of our culture…feel free to relax, and have a drink with me my dear Hanako.”

Reika followed in Kasta's footsteps as he beckoned her to follow him a short distance away, listening attentively as he told her more of his past as a scientist and his inclusion in the Gartagen Council of Advisers.

Finally, when he gave her leave to begin asking questions the young nekovalkyrja responded with her first question in a friendly, curious voice. "If you would Councilman Kasta, I have been tasked with learning more of the your governments organization and the major factions, families, clans or individuals that influence your peoples politics. I would appreciate any information you are free to provide... perhaps you could start by telling me more of the Council of Advisers, of which you are a member."

"Oh they can if they want, our military isn't opposed to it. I'm just protective of loved ones and can't stand seeing one harmed, it's much the same way I am with my fellow crewmen actually," Takeyu smiled faintly and stared straight forward.

He waited for a moment before saying. "I do have some questions of my own, mostly pertaining to your technology, but I understand that could be a touchy subject and I'm already certain there are things you can't tell me," he said matter of factly.

Eucharis Corridor - Leading To Cargo Bay

Helen disliked being late, it was one of the things she disliked most in the universe, but, she had to be unavailable for a bit due to the condition of her body. After a period of swapping out her internal hemosynth stores with fresh units, and forcibly purging the Xaser damaged material from her body, Helen felt as good as new and able to return to her usual workload. Though, she found herself a bit behind, but after consulting a contact list, she was able to open a communication line with the local government.

To: Gartagen Relations Representative
From: Eucharis Personnel, Shosa Helen Klein
Subject: Request for representative/guide

I have been assigned by Taisa Hanako to conduct a fact finding task to better understand the nature of the Gartagen species. I would request a representative be assigned to my person to aid in my study. I request an individual versed in topics including; philosophy, culinary skills, religious doctrine (If there is a faith system present among your people), as well as being versed in psychology and basic combat doctrine. I am sorry if this request is too broad for an individual representative, however, if such an individual is unavailable; I would request a representative be assigned which is versed in observation, investigation, and psychological operations.

I thank you for your time, and await your representative.

- Shosa Helen Klein of the YSS Eucharis.

Yaichiro listened to the question of the Gartagen and paused for a moment, parsing his response carefully.

"Working with different sections of the military is not unheard of, even for a typically autonomous vessel like our own. Typically fleets manage various geographic areas, but fleets can aid each other and have different sub-sections that work together like infantry and such. This particular ship and her crew crosses many of those lines in practice, so we have to be ready to work with any branch of the military at any time.

The other question has a more complex answer...Our nation was born of sentient women of war which were created to fight, and rebelled against their masters. The military has always been at the forefront of politics. While we have three branches of Government; being Executive, Legislative, and Military; the head of the Executive Branch is typically affiliated with the Ketsurui clan forged by one of the original three warrior women...and that clan's members have always served key roles in the Admiralty who run the Military branch as well as many other positions of responsibility. The Captain of this ship is in that clan, for example. Our Emperors and Empresses, therefore, grant the military priority in many cases. Any officer can give a civilian corporation orders or commandeer civilian vehicles in nearly any circumstance, for example.

We used to have a Senate for the remaining Legislative branch, but it was so petty and ineffective that it was dismantled, and the citizenry propose and vote on new laws directly. It means that the government is effectively run by the military in practice, but that is always how it has been -- merely with less civilian oversight until recent years. The citizenry was born of the military, not the other way around like in most societies. It works for us, and the civilians still have a voice.

Non-military institutions have sprung up in recent years, but many are embedded within military craft, have equivalent ranks for co-deployment in some cases, or answer to the military directly or indirectly. In the end; it's hard to define a conflict of interest with the military when the military is one of the core elements of every aspect of a society and its culture, though many things might be considered a conflict of interest in the eyes of someone whose society developed differently. I hope that answers your question."

Yaichiro then noted Reika's comments and withheld his questions to allow the Councilman to respond.

Armundo shut the oven door and wiped a knife on a cloth that he had hanging from his belt for just that purpose. He set the knife down and wiped his brow with a sigh and leaned against the counter. He was convinced that he was the only person actually aboard the ship at the moment..which made him wonder if he should be here at all .

He was the cook after all..everyone had to eat didn't they ? Everything would be hot and ready when they came back and he may even have some Gartagen dignitaries to feed. In lieu of this distinct possibility, he had taken steps to prepare some traditional Yamataian fare for them to sample. Unfortunately, due to his overly zealous knife hand, he had marred the Hibachi, which may or may not be ready by the time the crew returned.

He made his way over towards the kitchen sink to begin washing the dishes he had soiled so far, taking that time to think alone on the quiet ship. His sleeved were rolled back over his thick forearms, his rough, hard hands gently dipping into the sudsy water. This job here, may be the only one he would have in this army. His eyes were good, but even his large, powerful body was obsolete. He could not pick up telepathic signals, he could not back up his mind in case of death. As far as he knew, once he was dead, he was dead. Still, in spite of all these shortcomings, this was where he wanted to be. This life was a paradise compared to where he had come from, how could he possibly complain ?

Palace Banquet Hall

Hanako smiled to Toshiro. "All is well," she assured him.

"Would it be permissible for my ship to also bring some food to share?" the Taisa asked Tam. This could be a good opportunity for the new cook to show off his skills.

Yaichiro and Reika

The council man stood gave Yaichiro an expression of intense interest as he spoke. “A nation founded by its military. I find the idea of Military acting as the primary government an interesting situation. It is almost a social reversal in a sense. It is important to not that everybody who is apart of your nation is also more then capable of defending it”

“Well our government is rather totalitarian in nature, The Leader is groomed, along side several other candidates who are carefully selected but the standing Leader’s staff to take the position. This small group ultimately has the final say in all events of state, but as you can imagine running an entire planet takes more then one person. Below the leader is the Council of Trusted advisors, these advisors are typically appointed by the leader’s staff due to their expertise in any given field ranging from agriculture, or physics, to entertainment. They can not bring issues before the leader, or pass laws, but serve as a resource all members of the government can defer to for advice regarding a specific field. These advisors are usually in charge of their field, and have their hands involved heavily in shaping it, but this may not always be the case.” The council man then looked at a servant, and held his hand up. The servant bowed, and scurried off. “Below the leader is my group, the council of regional advisors…much like a senate. Or a body of governors. We are in charge of specific regions and provinces of the planet, and are tasked with the forming of laws, taxes, and carrying out the tasks of the Leader. We often bring issues before the Leader who more or less acts as a tie breaker or mediator when debates in the council.”

Takeyu

Takeyu had been escorted to the main banquet hall which was lavishly adorned with padded sitting areas in the corners, and dining tables that sat two feet above the floor. Dancers and servants were scrambling around the room which was filled with Gartagens of all shapes in sizes, and many of them wearing what was clearly a military uniform. “By all means, fire away, there are things that are naturally confidential, but as a civilian I could not even answer your questions involving those specific pieces if tortured me.” She said with a laugh.

Hanako

“Absolutely.” Tam said in response “I can get some attendants sent out to aid your cook in bringing his food into this hall. Food is a very important thing to my people, it says a lot about a persons home, and his culture. Offering food is sign of deep respect and courtesy among my people…so I am honored for your offering.”

Helen

Helen would see a small green skinned female Gartagen approaching the open cargo bay door. The female was adorned in set of heavy tan colored robes that covered the entirety of her body, with the exception of her head, and the clawed tips of her fingers protruding from the thick sleeves. The female walked with confidence, and moved towards Helen. Operative Gian found her self looking up to the curvaceous Neko, and bowed respectfully . “Greetings. I am Operative Gian, and your message was received and relayed to me as I was moving to accompany my mate in this first contact, to show my support. I have been tasked with accompanying you instead.” As she mentioned the word mate, she gestured to the stocky Gartagen male who was wearing the same style of robes that Gian was. “I must say it is an honor to meet you.” She said as she fiddled with a device that was attached under her thick hair, and fastened to the left side of her head.

Eucharis Cargo Bay

Upon the approach of the Gartagen operative, and mate, Helen gave a traditional Yamataian bow before listening to Gian's introduction. "I am thankful to you and your government for handling my request with such efficiency and expedience." Helen spoke with a soft smile as she studied the appearances of the two, as she made sure that her communication device was operating properly. With the initial greeting aside, Helen put some thought to how to proceed before deciding to dispense with the precise formalities, choosing to express some of the flavor of the Yamataian people as she extended her right hand outward, and open, as a traditional Nepleslian gesture. "From what I understand, your people have had contact with the Nepleslian species, I hope that this gesture of greeting is understood."

Gian hesitated, and was unfamiliar with the gesture. "A hand shake?" she said tilting her head to the side. "You have to forgive me. I thought that the Nepleslian ritual greeting involved one member insulting the head delegate, and then attempts to cleave her in half with a battle axe. Aside from that encounter the male Nepleslian looked at me with lustful intentions and then talked a lot." Gian said as she extended her clawed hand out and gingerly took Helen's own, taking extra care to keep her claws from touching Helen's perfect skin.

"From and aesthetic stand point you are quite a bit more flamboyant then what I read on Yamatians. Much more pleasing to the eye...shall we take this to the Banquet hall? Or would you prefer to interview me out here?" She said retracting her hand and gesturing to the Palace entrance.

Takeyu gave Kasta a weary smile, he would comment on what she just said but he feared she may misunderstand his intentions, so instead he went right to his questions. Looking up at the sky, the population in the air being rather evident, he glanced back at her and said. "Power generation, what kind of power reactors do you utilize? As well as, the fuel needed to power them?" he asked while still walking, the inside of the hall made him feel strangely comfortable.

Palace Lobby

Sune kept his face neutral, to his way of thinking, this person's behavior was bordering on unethical. It would have been different if he had been injured and unconscious. But he was not and it was in a manner of speaking an invasion of privacy. One that he would not have done, he had hoped to get some in depth scans, but only after getting the individual's permission. He took a moment to form his words carefully.

"Doctor Jiban, in our culture it is normally proper to ask before scanning a person, unless you are dealing with a patient. However, since I had hoped to be able to perform a few scans on your people so perhaps you will permit me to return the favor.

Although, I must ask you and your colleagues from scanning any of the Nekovalkyjra. Their bodies are properties of the Star Army and as such are Military Equipment and Classified.

Now if it is permissible with you, I would like to conduct a scan of my one."

He held up the medial scanner, "This is our Portable Medical Scanner-1M, it works by means of a hypospray that injects millions of nanomachines. Which once in the blood stream provide biometric data, which this unit receives and stores. Then a dermal patch is applied which relays that data to this unit or other medical equipment. After twenty four hours the nanomachines dissolve harmlessly."

“Apologies.” She said in response to Sune, giving him a polite bow. “I got excited when I saw you come through the door unescorted.” She said as she came back up. “Ah, nano-machines used for a scan. My parents experimented with such a device…but other members of the science community brick walled them, and seized the prototypes. This device I just used on you is collection of radiation, light, and sound to collect data. It is accurate, but I hope your rad count is low. ‘But as one scientist to another, I will not deny you the same courtesy you allowed me.” Jiban said as she submitted to Sune’s scan. “I will avoid the Nekovalkyjra as requested.” It was at that point that Jiban spoke into a small communicator that was on her coat. “Avoid the Nekovalkyjra for medical scans…the biology over the second race are classified.”

Jiban was clearly excited, because she immediately started talking again. “At a glance of my scan I noticed that your muscle structure is not as dense as our own, which probably explains why your people are generally larger then my own. The plantigrade evolution of your feet I also find intriguing because we always regarded plantigrade locomotion a primitive condition for mammals on the basis that digitgrades and unguligrades evolved much later this world. Jiban would pull up the holographic scan of Sune once more as she waited for him to hypospray her. “I figure your device should be able to pierce my skin according to this your race’s epidermis is thinner than that of the Gartagen epidermis. Oh my…fascinating…may I ask you a…rather odd question?” Jiban said as her holographic scan began flashing with some words that were in Gartagen script forming above the holographic Sune’s head.

Sune adjusted the hypospray to account for the thicker skin. He also made a mental note to check into the rationale for avoiding nanotech. He wondered if it was a social, religious or cultural reason. Sune pressed the PMS hypospray against Jiban's arm and applied the patch. Once the unit was synced he tapped his Uno Sunglasses to connect them to the scanner. "While our musculature may be less dense than yours, we are stronger than a normal human of our size. We do not require a thicker dermis as our bodies heal at an accelerated rate. We have encountered a variety of species, and each has their own 'uniqueness'. It has been my experience that evolution usually comes up with the most successful design." Sune paused to look at the data that was streaming in. Certain aspects of the Gartargen he could understand, but until he had a full scan he would hold off asking for specifics.

"Of course you may ask odd questions? I am sure that some of my questions during our discourse will seem strange to you." he said in response to query.

"Are you engineered? I see several synthetic markers…such as in the case of your blood the accelerated healing. It is quite interesting, and even more so if this is the norm for your entire species.” She said asking her odd question. She would await Sune’s response and then continue on. “We evaluated our species from a scientific stand point after acquiring the civilian level data off of PANTHEON and found that for our size, we are exceedingly strong, and our bodies are robust, but your kind is still larger and this affords you the advantage. The differences in alien biology give our scientist something to investigate and to better understand how life forms on other worlds. For me, this is a very exciting time. If I had the opportunity I would absolutely love to study at a medical school to practice on your people.”
She then paused and looked at Sune. “I am sorry…I keep rambling off. You said you had questions…by all means.” Jiban said as she giggled nervously.

Sune had a brief memory flash of the other medic he served with. Konoka and this Jiban seemed to have come from the same mind set. "The Yamataian body is an engineered lifeform. It was made available to my people six years ago. It was an upgrade from the earlier Geshrin form and is considered superior to it. Although I have no first hand experience with being in a Geshrin form, and I was never born in the traditional sense. Like many of our soldiers I was manufactured five years ago, and woke up fully grown rather than born to parents."

"As for questions, I have many, I would like at some time to visit one of your places where you treat people. What we would call Hospitals, I do not know what you call yours. But as for immediate questions, why was your parents work confiscated? If you can explain."

“That is intriguing. It is as if you people have turned biology into a technological construction. It really raises the question of what is alive. Or the even more interesting question: What if something created all the naturally formed life forms in the universe.” She said as she stepped forward and started inspecting Sune. She brought her clawed hands closer to his face. “Do not mind me…just getting a look with my own eyes…I feel machines make us doctors loose touch, sure they help, but a good doctor should have no trouble examining something first hand.”

“This translator software that our CORE net work has cobbled together prevents the actual word from being seen through, but we call it a house of healing, and there is a massive one roughly three miles from this very location, I am positive I can get an air shuttle to take us there.” She said as she pulled away from Sune. Jiban immediately turned and shouted to one of her colleagues “Prep my air shuttle for take off, and see if we can get clearance to let Sune and his companion to leave the palace with us.” A younger male Gartagen responded with a “Yes doctor.” bowed and obediently scrambled off to set things in motion.

When Sune mentioned her parent’s research she grew grim. “It was a case of inter clan politics. At the time my family was clanless, even worse we were T'Sharugartagens…children of the clones from The War of Light.” Jiban then motioned for Sune to look at her skin by spreading her fingers wide and slowly bringing her arms down her torso. “This skin is not a natural occurrence, rather a marker to identify my ancestors from naturally born Gartagens. My parents were brilliant scientists, but the competing researchers had more connections, the resources of an entire clan backing them, and all the pull in the world to have my parent’s research black balled, and costing lives thanks in part to racism…and status.”

"I am not schooled in theology so I can not speak about the concept of the Divine. I fully understand about a hands on approach when treating patients. When I perform a physical examination on a crew member, I combine the results of the scanner with an actual physical exam."

Upon hearing her mention the War of Light, he sent a message back to the Eucharis so Charisma could relay this event to whomever was charged with exploring their history.

"So, because you are descended from clones rather than natural Gatagens you and others like you are ostracized? That is interesting, Does that mean cloning and clones in general are looked as inferior? Why were your ancestors created as clones if it was going to leave them with a stigma?

I am curious because I am technically a clone, a mass produced soldier, the difference being I had a different experience after creation."

“Ma’am, your and your guests are cleared for departure…and the House of healing has been notified of your arrival…the transport is awaiting your party as we speak.” came a garbled communique over her coat bound communications device. Jiban beckoned Sune and his companion to walk with her, but continued speaking.

“Ostracized would be too kind of a word. It all goes back to the War of Light. The Pygrins created us as a grand experiment, to further the cause of medicine. The Pygrins were mighty warriors and brilliant researchers, and stood as the benchmark of Gartagen society for generations. They were not perfect, but they were..noble in their own way. Noble enough to gain the envy of the Ithcalushi…the peach colored Gartagens…” She said pointing out a peach colored Gartagen to Sune. “The Pygrins were outnumbered three to one, and began mass producing us for the great war. Their clone troops fighting along side their natural born soldiers…devastated their attackers, beating the all the way back to their home cities. But the Ithcalushi were as devious as they were numerous, and drop nuclear bombs onto several of the Pygrin cities. After that the Pygrins surrendered, and my people were herded up to be exterminated. The Ithcalushi exterminated millions of us…it was industrialized, but when the war ended the Union came to its senses and halted the extermination. They soon promptly exiled us to the southern arctic continent of our world where we managed to flourish.”

“As the centuries passed, racial discrimination was outlawed, and my people were legally considered full citizens of the union. "

“Today however is a much different age, every thing is needed to bring out people into space. Every ethnic group, every scrap of metal. Clones are viewed differently by individuals. Racism still exists but is not officially our way. Today cloning is used on a limited basis, mostly to aid in the creation of organs, tissues, and making food and animals for consumption. But no the cloning of a Gartagen is outlawed, I was naturally conceived by my parents, as they were by their own parents…but the genetic marker that makes my skin this color is a trait that can not be bred out, but I am fond of it because it reminds me of my heritage, and that I should be proud of it. I like to think my ancestors were brave, and noble. I could not imagine what it must have felt like to have been flash grown, then imprinted with basic knowledge through a neural interface wire, and then handed a rifle and armor and told to go out and fight for your life.”

“My people are not perfect Sune, but we are getting better.”

"In my case it was less than that. I woke up aboard a civilian ship, with no idea who I was or how I got there. I was in a maturation pod that had been stolen. I could speak and take of myself, but I had to learn to socialize, and find an occupation. Unlike most mass produced soldiers, I found a family. The people who rescued me and helped me to learn." He paused as the emotions of losing that family came up. He did his best to keep the emotions in check, but it was clear that there was something bothering him for a moment.

"I am glad that your people as a whole are working towards acceptance, but from what you said of your parents' work. It would appear that there is still more work to be done in gaining full acceptance."

“That must have been a nightmare.” Jiban said as she heard Sune’s short story detailing his birth. She nervously began tapping her claws together as she began thinking about having such an experience. “I try not to have any strong emotions to natural born, but when I hear tales like that it upsets me…” She said as she turned to continue walking down the hall way. Sune would see that this particular hallway was constructed differently then the one he had entered the first time. It was plated with gold, silver, and a number of other precious metals and gave of the appearance of something that was meticulously tended to due to the volumes of script that was etched into the meters of endless wall.

Palace Banquet Hall (with Tam)

"I notice there is a lot of security here," Hanako observed. "Is that for this occasion, or is it normal for things to be so well guarded? Or perhaps because there is frequent violence on this planet? You mentioned even the council has fights." Hanako asked. "Do the Gartagens have a constitution that serves as the outline of the goverment structure? How do you prevent corruption and racism in the leadership? Are leaders and government people well respected?"

Takeyu

Kasta’s clawed feet were bare and clicked on the obsidian stone slabs that made up the floor of this part of the Palace. It felt more like a museum or a library then a house of governing. Take you would see carvings in the walls of the hall of ancient Gartagen scenes being depicted. As the went further down the hall way the scenes began showing more advanced weaponry, buildings, and changes in the written language from pictograms to a very beautiful and flowing script.

“Well we use nuclear fission for most of our civilian and basic technology. Many vehicles and weapons are powered by small nuclear batteries, with larger buildings and military vehicles being powered by miniaturized power plants. We enhance the reaction using a verity minerals harvested in system most notably deuterium which has a deposits on our home world, but one of Galva’s moons, the gas giant beyond the asteroid belt in our system has large deposits of the mineral. Our Star ships and larger cities receive power from Fusion, which was attained when we were able to harvest H3 from the atmosphere of Galva.

Hanako

“It is only standard procedure, the Guards would be standing at their posts on a lazy day. The remain present to defend the palace, and the government. Do your Government buildings keep guards posted at all hours/” Tam said as he tapped his claws together with both of his hands. At the question about guarding against corruption Tam flicked his tail with interest. “Racism was outlawed thirty years ago, any Gartagen may do what he wishes regardless of race, creed or social standing. It is idealistic, and I would be lying if I said many people do not cling to the old ways, but from a legal stand point we are trying to stamp out racism as a whole.” Tam nodded and continued on. “We do have the articles of Unity, which is a relatively thin document that promises things like freedom of speech, the right to defend ones self and his/her family, and of course a pledge to help and protect fellow Gartagens. We also have a warrior ethos ingrained in our society which covers a Varity of things. Keeping the body strong and healthy, defending the week, and always striving to improve things, and not cowering when things get hard.”

“As far as corruption in the government goes, as a member of the military it is my duty to protect the people first. We in the military are of the people, and the Government can only request our services. If any member of the military, including these guards finds a politician acting dishonorably and purposefully using his civilian granted powers for selfish ends, we would swiftly execute him. The Leader, our figure head. I would give my life to protect him, as would any member of the military. But if he became a tyrant, I would not hesitate to shoot him in his face. Though we have not had an instance of a tyrannical leader being executed in over 100 years. Of course this brings on the question of who polices the military, and the answer to that is we police our selves. I most Gartagen soldiers, troopers, sky guards and solar troopers are noble selfless. We also have very strict laws and use of swift punishments to maintain order and discipline. Our military command structure is also delegated among several officers ensuring that no one person commands such devastating power.”

"Neither, a cargo hold is not a place for diplomacy, and a banquet hall is not a place for work." Helen said as she concluded a firm-yet-calculatedly-soft handshake with the Operative. "I would like to get to know the ways of your people better. Perhaps we could dine somewhere in which we could listen to a variety of your people's music, or look upon a selection of art? Forgive me for being so direct in my want to know more, but my job and my passion lay in intelligence, the knowing of what people are doing, and why they do it." stated, though, she did give a bit of a smile. "Perhaps somewhere that you think would match your judgment of my appearance?"

Walking beside Councilman Kasta and Takeyu, Reika listened intently as the Gartagen began to explain in depth the inner workings of the Gartagen political system. The operative mentally filed away every detail for the mission report she would no doubt need to compile later.

Before Reika asked her next question, she waited to see if Yaichiro had a query of his own he would like to voice, or if the Councilman wanted to inquire more about the Star Empire.

Takeyu wasn't sure he liked the prospect of riding a vehicle that had a nuclear battery on it. He figured he knew what the councilman meant, storing nuclear energy into a battery format, but I may be wrong in my assumptions, he then rubbed his chin for a moment. "Just to help clear up my own assumptions, how does this Nuclear Battery work anyway if I may ask? Likewise, isn't it dangerous to have such reactors inside your buildings and vehicles due to the risk of an explosion and plausible contamination?"

Hanako sent a brief transmission to Armundo:

Please make some impressive dishes to offer the Gartagens.

Hanako then continued to ask Tam questions. "It sounds like military members are allowed to kill people they feel are corrupt. Does this mean there are executions without trials? Are all Gartagen citizens of the Union? What sort of political say does the every person have? Is Gartagen military service volunteer only or compulsory?"

Armundo nearly jumped out of his skin when the silence of the mostly derelict ship was broken by the beeping of his communicator. He snatched the device off his belt and flipped it open to see a message from the Taisa, calling for food for the Gartagens. He blinked as he stared at the short message before sending a text back to the Taisa.

" Right away Taisa. Will there be any particular dishes the Taisa would like to offer to the Gartagens ?
He almost sent the message when he remembered a important detail he forgot to include.
"Will we be receiving our guests aboard the Eucharis or will we be dining in the palace ?"
He added before sending the message ad setting his comm back on his belt. He was trying to figure out a way to showcase Yamataian quisine in a few dishes while keeping himself open to the Taisa's additions, if she provided any.
