Squad 2

So thats it... said Takeyu as he sought cover, just in case there was anything on the elevator and ordered Squad 2 to also seek cover near his area. He then sent a message to Sune, letting him know of the situation and of the elevator just down the tunnel a bit, a possible means for them to get out of the sludge filled area.

However, that cable was something he wanted to follow even more, and relayed the information on that as well. He was now pondering, was there anything on that elevator and what triggered it to move up to this floor?

Waste Tank

Noticing the light up ahead and already being close to the waste tank, Akemi quickly grabbed Murakami and pulled her along as she went with her team to join the others in it. "Hurry, we need to get back down now," the senior soldier firmly commanded.

Maintenance Tunnel

Mitsuko was following along as the groups in front began to spread out, some going upwards into the new areas while others seemed ready to explore the tunnel. She was looking around, thankful for the sudden extra lighting. It was much easier to see where everything was. She was just beginning to realize what was wrong with this change when Akemi grabbed her.

Waste Facility

Soon enough, she was back in the filth again. Murakami opened her mouth to protest, but closed it again quickly. She just seemed to be one step behind everyone else at the moment. "Y-yes, of course," she replied while still in contact with Akemi, following her lead. Remaining near the opening connecting the two areas, she tried to stay still and quiet as they waited...

Waste Facility

As soon as the newest crew member's guard finished making its way in, Akemi shut the hatch behind them. At that point she had released Murakami's arm and once more began to privately speak to her. "I know it's hard for you and you may find what I'm about to say ridiculous, but please try to relax. Whatever happens, happens. All we can do is focus on trying to make the best of every situation to improve our odds of success. To do that we need to be calm and accept things as they come. I'm still new myself, but I simply realize agonizing over things won't help me and refuse to allow myself to do so. I know that most people don't have the luxury of being able to do that as easily as I can, but please try your best. If I can do it, you can too." She paused and then added, "Focus on conquering yourself, then the enemy. One naturally leads to the other."

Maintenance Tunnel

An Nekovalkyrja wearing a gray jumpsuit and a Type 33 NMX Emergency Air Mask emerged into the tunnel from the elevator near the trash facility. She had a creamy coffee-brown skin tone and sky blue hair and eyes and was carrying a tool kit. The neko began floating towards the waste area where both teams had entered, to inspect the damage.

Shuttle 1 Team

"We can not depend on the shuttle may be usable later. Riko-Hei, set a remote detonation charge on each of the Shuttles. I do not want the enemy to get any equipment from us. Blowing it may be advantageous to use the detonation later as a diversion." Sune replied.

-----

Seeing the food processing aka slaughter room brought the memories of the first one they encountered. The only thing that struck him as incongruous was its proximity to the waste tank.

When word came of the approaching elevator he sent a quick laser message to his team.

We need to quickly subdue the occupants. Limit weapon fire to low energy systems. We cut loose with high power we will set off alarms.

Waste Facility

"On it Boss"

Bors said before signaling to his squad to stay in cover as he jogged back down to the shuttles trying to be as quick and quiet as possible. As soon as he cleared the door leading to the shuttles he slid down the ladder landing with a splat in the 'mud' and continued moving toward the shuttles. As he approached the shuttles he took out two of the satchel charges and remote detonators and attached them to the shuttles. After securing them he climbed back up into the maintenance tunnel and rejoined his squad in cover.

Code:
Charges Placed, just say the word and the shuttles are gone, sir

Bors sent via Laser to Sune just as the NMX came floating out of the elevator. Drawing his knife Bors laid in wait for the word to attack or blow up the shuttles.

Maintenance Tunnel

The NMX Nekovalkyrja technician that was heading towards the waste area stopped and watched as Riko ran through the hallway in front of her. A Star Army soldier was very out of place in this NMX starbase. After a moment of staring, she dashed back into the elevator and hit the button, leaving the area.

Waste Facility

With the hatch closed, she was able to relax for a moment. Even if they were back in this disgusting place. She glanced at the infantry Neko all around her before leaning in closer to Akemi, listening intently. Mitsuko was biting her bottom lip during the speech, trying to soak it in. She nodded at the end, helmet bobbing, nearly bumping into Akemi's. Murakami stood back with a squeak, giving her some space.

"Sorry...um...and thank you. I'll try..." She managed a jerky sort of bow, hoping the others in the tank with them hadn't heard too much. They could probably tell Mitsuko wasn't comfortable without having it spelled out for them, though. She looked at the exit hatch, tilting her head as she thought of something.

"...how will we know when to go back out?"

Squad 2

A series of curses flew from Takeyu's mouth, he was about ready to make his move, sneak up behind the Neko and cut her throat, using his active camo to hide him; but when he saw Bors run through the area, he knew his plan had been too little, too late. "Son of a...!" he shouted and turned to watch Bors, then opened a squad com. to Sune.

Code:
Shosa! We've just been made! Going to attempt to recover!

Now quick decisions had to be made, and he wasn't about to let the Neko go and report to her masters. So, with his active camo engaged, and having noticed the Neko's slight hesitation from watching Riko, he dashed forward and began to close the distance between him and the elevator, but he wasn't fast enough and only managed to get to the edge of the elevators platform and looked down at the descending car.

He crouched down, with second squad right behind him, and aimed with his rifle using a low power setting - if he could kill the Neko and then disable the elevator, then their cover might not be blown. Then quickly shouted to his squad. "Second squad! Low power setting only, disable this elevator pronto!" he ordered and, with his gaze still down at the elevator, fired a series of shots into it in hopes of killing the Neko inside.

Waste Facility

"You have nothing to apologize or thank me for. I was just trying to be helpful to a fellow soldier to do my best as one. I was actually worried I would annoy you because I said something so basic and asked you to do something that is much easier to say than do. Anyway, someone will notify us. There are plenty who could." Murakami had nothing to worry about in regard to their conversation being overheard as Akemi was speaking solely to her through laser transmission.

Shuttle 1 Team

Natsumi and her group of escorting infantry were near the end of the line for shuttle 1's team. She looked about the slaughter room with disgust. The place was horrid and so close to the sewage tanks. The thought of it and what they chopped up here was enough to turn her stomach.

The thought of both their shuttles out of action didn't sit well with the young Nekovalkyrja starship operator either. She didn't like that their primary means of escape was now gone.

When the Shosa's order came through she reset her rifle to the low power setting. She had no intention of being the one to blow the teams cover on her first mission.

Natsumi listened to the comm chatter, silently waiting to hear an order come her way.

Meat Packing Room

"Fuck, my, life. Any engineer worth their salt would know disabling an elevator would trigger an alarm." Helen mumbled while listening to the laser based comm-relay as she slipped her SMG back into the holster on the thigh of her Kylie, before unslinging the Aether Gatling from her shoulder. "My Team, on me." she transmitted by laser, with instruction to each armor to relay it along line-of-sight. "Team one may have gone and blew it downstairs, it is going to be our job to clean it up if it is out of their control." Helen spoke, with a harsh intensity to her tone. "Ramiro, get on my 12, we're taking the sausage chute to their docking facilities. We're going to stick to our end of the plan, Sune's team is going to have to try to salvage theirs. If they fail, we're going to frag this place from the inside out with whatever we can capture."

While there was a massive failure on one part of their plan, that did not mean the entire operation was a loss. Every bit of Helen was entirely willing to throw Team 1 under the space-bus to accomplish the operation. If it involved a few people having to be brought back from ST copies, that was fine, she could live with that, after all that was what the technology was for. All she hoped, was that if she died in a combat zone, she'd be reborn in a body that was not a filthy pile of sweat and fecal matter. As she thought on the matter of the new standard-issue bodies, she found the notion revolting, enough to motivate her to stay alive.

"My Team, we're going to have to move quickly, and set a distance between us, and the mistake. We can use the NMX response as a distraction, as they focus their eyes there, we'll be elsewhere. If I die, know that the mission is to capture a ship, preferably one with the most firepower possible. If Sune's team is unable to bring up their end of the plan, use the ship to decimate this base." Helen ordered, as everyone would move in position before heading through the meat chute.

The big armored doors on the elevator were entirely unphased and the technician girl and her knowledge of the station’s layout were out of reach. After a moment, the elevator sounds stopped, and then started again. Something else was coming down into this maintenance area.

Suddenly it got chaotic; it like everyone was running and shouting. Helen’s Infantry nekos were rushing into the conveyor system and up from their hiding places into the meat room. Sune’s infantry nekos were looking for some sort of cover near the elevator to set up a fighting position, but there was little the maintenance tunnel could offer.

Down in the waste tank, loud cracks and pings could be heard as a growing number of NMX battlepods began firing on the helpless transport shuttles stuck to the hull, peppering them with shots that pierced their hulls.

"Ok, we need to move out. Takeyu, plant some explosives on the elevator doors. Enough to damage the elevator and keep anyone from coming in for a bit.

Everyone else into the maintenance shaft with the cable that Nayacesen-Shoi was investigating. Cables like that must lead to something important and the conduit is less likely to have sensors.

Riko blow the shuttles, and get up here."

The elevator came to a halt before Takeyu could reach it and the large doors let out a hiss as they came open open. It was stuffed shoulder to shoulder with a reaction team of 5 bulky Ripper-type armors carrying large rectangular transparent Durandium shields.

Immediately, the Star Army infantry nekos began to engage the Rippers with a hail of LASR file. Most of it was shrugged off as the Rippers pushed forward like out of the elevator to make room for the next load. The elevator doors hissed shut, and the NMX began sewing aether bursts at people. Two of the closet infantry nekos were hit by Rippers firing their forearm cannons around their shields and a third one fell victim to an aether lance.

Rippers?, why would they have Rippers ready next to the sewage. he thought briefly.

"Belay the light fire order. Hit these bastards with whatever heavy weapons you have. Once we slag these Rippers, I want a satchel charge placed in the elevator shaft to take it and that shaft out before we leave." Sune called out as he fired his Ke-M2-W2913 at one of the Rippers from the cover of a bulkhead.

Meat Chute

Oh wow. Helen thought, as she monitored the situation with her Kylie's passive sensors. A mission that did not go as planned, I'm shocked. She released a huff at her own thoughts, before she widened the sensor reception and attempted to get a fix on the bandwidth the NMX were using for their communications. There was actually a reason for her not to have done it before, quite simply, she knew that monitoring a communication would disrupt the electron spin of the signal by observation, with the commotion from Team 1's mistake, Helen figured that the station crew would ignore any disturbances as efforts made by the team they had spotted, and not her own.

Ramiro made a quick motion to his team, pulling them off security. Sprinting, he made his way down the chute that Helen had indicated, weapon shouldered and his dozen-or-so shield modules on standby.

"Moving ma'am," came a Laser Comm, relayed from down the chute.

Maintenance Tunnel -> Meat Packing Room/Chute

"Well, it's time to go," Akemi said matter-of-factly. "Suzume's team, come with me. Everyone activate your camouflage," she ordered while continuing to communicate through laser. After doing so herself, she swiftly opened the door and shot into the tunnel and towards the hatch leading to the meat processing room. She then opened it and entered the room. Spotting the soldiers filtering into the chute, she followed them.
