RP: YSS Eucharis [Mission 16] The Nest

Ship Corridor


As Bors walked down the corridor, trying his best to not hit anything as he skimmed over the manual he picked up and sipping on his coffee, as he made his way back down to the Vehicle Storage Aera. As he rounded a corner he noticed Konoka and Akemi talking to what appeared to be a new crew member. Might as well introduce myself He thought as he made his way over too the trio.

"Welcome aboard The Eucharis, take it your new hope you enjoy your stay, oh and I’m Santô Hei Riko Bors, nice to meet you."

Getting back to his business at hand Bors made his way back to the Vehicle storage area sipping on his coffee and mumbling in Nepleasian to himself.

There was a sigh from Helen, there were so many differing ideas, which should have been handled sooner. In truth, what troubled her most was something which she felt like voicing at that point. "Shosho, there were fears of this operation becoming over-complicated, if I recall, and it is starting to seem like a familiar scenario." she spoke, in direct reference to her declined operation revision. "We can keep this simple and direct, or we can make this thorough and detailed. We can't have both unless we use overwhelming firepower and carry out a style of attack unseen since Uesu's departure from Yamatai." Helen stated simply, before she gave a soft nod of her head to Hanako. "We can use part of your plan Shosho, but we can improve it to make the rest of our plans possible. We insert teams to acquire select ships instead of conducting sabotage. Use the acquired ships to conduct raids upon their industrial base and farmland on our way out. Leave the government intact for diplomatic purposes."

Ships Corridor

Misato Suzume hobbled down to the medical center to get checked out and hopefully get it removed. She hoped to be able to make up for her less than stellar actions the last mission. That and the damned thing itched like nothing else she knew of.
As she was moving down the corridor she ran into the new neko , Akemi and Konoka. Waving Suzume wobbled over to the group and leaned against a wall, “Hello, I’m Misato Suzume, how do you do?”

Power Armor Bay

Reika decided to spend the morning preparing her Daisy armor suit for any potential future combat situations -- even with all the extra troops aboard, it was still a possibility that Hanako would wish to dispatch members of the crew along during combat or boarding operations. Once the neko was satisfied with her work and that her armor was in pristine condition, she then left the armory and made her way through the interior of the ship in the direction of the ships medical bay.

She felt that it was probably a good idea to perform another mental back-up with the distinct probability of heavy combat on the horizon. Thus the operative hoped to catch Konoka -- the ships medic -- in the med-bay and hopefully perform a quick back-up whilst there was time to do so.

Sune listened to the other officers, and to his friend. He felt himself getting frustrated, instead of a simple direct plan, it was once again getting muddied. He stood up from his station, and adjusted his tunic.

"Attacking their food sources serves no purpose. The issues we saw on Yamatai were because we have civilians, and those people depend upon us. The NMX are a military organization, every single one of them is part of it. They are cogs in a great war machine. Destroy their food source they will simply order the lower ranking to submit for processing and continue on their way.

Destroying their government as it stands is the first step to crushing these people. Their government is not like ours, its not about laws and maintaining order. It is about moving their forces and working towards a common goal. Destroy their complex, and the NMX will become splintered, as each warlord will struggle to gather as much as they can. So instead of fighting a united force, our fleets will encounter smaller more easily dispatched ones.

Diplomacy!! Are you mad Klein-Shosa. There can be no armistice with the NMX, no peace treaty.

Because you can only negotiate with an equal. We have seen all too well what the NMX consider us. We are nothing but food to be processed, they will not stop until they have killed or enslaved everyone of us. Any talk of diplomacy with the NMX is bordering on treason and a disgrace to everyone they have killed.

I say we kill them before they kill us.

We have a golden opportunity to finally critically wound the NMX. Destroy their 'government complex', destabilizes their command structure. That is the most advantageous target with the bigger gain in this war.

If we wish to kill two birds with one stone, while we attack that site, we send Klein Shosa and a team to gather as much intelligence from their own systems. After all that is what SAINT is supposed to provide Intelligence. Which most of this war, we have see very little useful intel."

"Bottom line, our solemn duty is to destroy the NMX. Showing them any form of mercy that they would not show us is pure folly. Meeting with them to talk, would only serve to give them time to rebuild. After the first war, everyone thought they were gone, and they came back in larger numbers and almost crushed us in the first days of the war. Victory must be total and absolute. None of their forces must be allowed to continue, or the next time.... we may not be as fortunate."

Sune sat down, and turned back to his station. He started a series of simulations to find the best means to destroy the government complex.

"Oh, hello, Suzume-Hei," said Konoka. "Your welcome's looking a lil' wobbly. I guess you're healed enough now to take that cast off. Let's go to the MedBay and handle that."

She turned back to Natsumi. "I'll let you head over to the bridge," she smiled. "Since we both have things to do. But, umm, one word of advice before you meet the Shosho?" she smiled. "In the Star Army, we don't salute. We bow." Thus, she bowed goodbye to Natsumi and grasped Misato by the arm to stop her wobbling and began walking to the Medbay.

As she walked, she told Reika, "Tachihara-Hei, if you need a backup, you can come, too."

Starship Corridor

"It was good to meet all of you" Natsumi said as the small group that had gathered began to break up. She bowed properly this time, then departed for the bridge. She was happy to have met Konoka, Akemi, Bors and Suzume and looked forward to getting to know all of them better soon.

With a ship the size of the YSS Eucharis it did not take long to arrive at the hatch to the bridge. Natsumi had committed the internal arrangement of the Plumeria-class Gunship to memory. It would not have done well at all for a new member of the crew to get lost on her first day aboard ship!

She paused at the hatch, taking a moment to smooth out her uniform and make sure she was crisp and professional. Then, she stepped forward, opening the hatch* and crossed the threshold into the Gunship's command center.

Natsumi's crimson eyes quickly swept across the small circular compartment as she entered, taking in the details, admiring the compact efficiency of the arrangement. She also noted the bridge staff was in debate and waited a moment for the conversation to lull before introducing herself to the Shôshô.

"Shôshô Ketsurui, Santo Hei Yamashiro Natsumi reporting for duty" she said, bowing respectfully to her new Commanding Officer



*not sure if we have to hit a button to open doors here, or if they open automatically via proximity motion sensor (like in Star Trek)

Bridge

Hanako turned and gave a return bow to Natsumi. "Welcome aboard, Santo Hei. We are on the way to an operation so be prepared. In the mean time, you should find a cabin assignment and get your things stowed. Then return to the bridge." Hanako pointed at a slender yet muscular brown-haired warrant officer. "That's Ramiro. You will be working with him to control the ship."

The Shosho then turned back to Helen and Sune. "Shall we attempt to capture a ship and then use it to attack their government while the larger fleets fight at the military base then?"

Engineering

Takeyu leaned on the railing, keeping an eye on the reactor still while monitoring more systems. He was pondering what was going on right now with the mission and how things were progressing, of course, when he looked over at Cherry and then glanced about the bay he went right back to really wanting more technicians for the ship.

He did have Akemi, whom he was grooming into a technician slowly. With a sigh he turned back toward the reactor, then saw the results of Cherisma's scans. Radiation levels are tolerable, though the next time we are in port I'll get some of those areas addressed. Probably should consider examining our ships systems and seeing which one's the most 'banged' up, to get it replaced quickly.

When Sune apparently flipped off the handle, at least in Helen's opinion, she scowled bitterly, but took a moment to reply to Hanako first. "Shosho, it is your decision. This democratic process is creating a quagmire." Helen spoke, tactfully reminding Hanako that she needs to make some choices on her own. Though, it did piss her off that she was fishing for suggestions only after finding out in a half-assed scouting effort that their original plans were insufficient.

After addressing the Shosho, that was when Helen directed her attention to Sune. As an officer of equal rank, she did not have to pull punches, as she opened up a private communication line to him, silently, she opened up a dialog; "Shosa, get your feelings about the enemy under control. You are not a savage killer like they are, so do not lower yourself to their level by desiring indiscriminate bloodshed. They do have a civilian population, we know this from interviews with a POW captured by the YSS Sakura in the first war. They live, they breathe, just like us. They were built to serve a government, just like us, even as civilians. To crave their blood, is to crave our own. What would make us suffer, would make them suffer just the same. Understand what our current Empress wants, and deliver it. I've had to make changes in my operating style to conform to the Empress' wishes, I do not wish to see you fall out of step with the Shosho by going against what our organization is all about now. The Star Army does not kill planets anymore, the Star Army does not torture anymore, the Star Army does not murder anymore. While these things are difficult to adapt to, they are expected. People like me, exist so people like you do not have to become a monster. Focus, control yourself, and make constructive decisions... most of all, don't piss me off by spouting off like some sort of green recruit."

"Eh? Sound like someone's out for my job!" Ramiro responded in a John Wayne accent. Returning his accent back to standard Yamataian, he spun his chair to look at the newbie. "Occupation," he demanded, "and I'll be damned if you say Operator, cus in this room that isn't very specific. Piloting and main operations we've got covered, same with sensors systems. We can always use someone who knows their way around communications equipment, and we haven't had a good weapons specialist in a while."

Bridge

Natsumi smiled, bowing to Ramiro. "Starship gunnery is my specialization, Nitô Juni" she answered. "I hope I will exceed your expectations for a good weapons specialist!"

Turning back to Hanako, "Shôshô, I have already received my cabin assignment, deposited my belongings there and am ready to assume my duties"

Bridge
Sune did not bother to look back at Helen when he replied.

"That was the SMX, these NMX are a different. What I said was true, whether or not you like it. I do not have your capacity for deception and guile. The last time I checked, we still have the right to speak our minds, and I will exercise that right and give the Shosho my opinion.

The Empire made a mistake with the end of the first Mishhu war. Our people are now paying the price. The only way to ensure the continuity of the Empire and our species. Is to utterly destroy the NMX and SMX ability to make war. If that means we have to exterminate them, then so be it. I have seen first hand the atrocities of the NMX, I will not lose any sleep over their destruction."

Sune then turned to Hanako, "Since it appears that what ever course of action we take is going to involve away teams, I am going down to the Power Armor bay to see to my replacement armor and get it configured.

Once you decide what our objectives are please let me know so I may see to arranging Away Teams accordingly ma'am." he said, then stood and walked out of the bridge.

Personal Quarters

While the higher ups were discussing how they would approach things, Akemi went to her room to practice singing using her Anaba. She had already recently made a mental backup and completed her inspection of the ship's armors so she decided to take it easy before she played her part in the big operation. The peitite neko chose to sing some energetic and upbeat songs to really get her in the mood to fight.

Bridge

"This starbase," Hanako said, pointing to a huge shipyard complex on the tactical map, "is the nest that their organic ships return to. I say we strike here. Then, we take a ship to make our escape and use it to attack their government. We have seen that there is good in the Mishhuvurthyar and NMX Nekovalkyrja...but that the Umbral are the source of their corruption and evil, and the ones giving the orders. They are the government, and they are the target."

Hanako pointed to the system the Mishhu called Rabaal. "We need to stealthily get to the Nest there."

Bridge

When Sune left the bridge, Helen muttered quietly; "He's dangerous right now, and not in a good way." Though, she soon tore her attention to what Hanako was working on.

"I don't entirely know if it would be possible using our standard methods." Helen stated, frowning at the proposed concept. "Since we have not had an opportunity to properly gather intelligence beyond long-range sensor scans and a short scouting run, we can not be sure what countermeasures they have against vessels operating under stealth conditions. If we could force them to look somewhere else, to distract them, we could perhaps pull it off... though..." Helen paused, as she spoke to thin-air; "Klein to Engineering, I want a status report on if our ship fits within emission suppression tolerances to avoid being picked up on sensors while operating under standard stealth procedures, and I need that report now." she ordered, as she crossed her arms over her belly, and looked upon the display which Hanako was using... it was going to be a very half-assed mission, she knew that much.

Armor Bay

Sune entered the armor bay and walked over to the rack and selected his personal armor. After the last mission, he wanted to make sure that this armor was up to the task.

He also sent a list of items to the fabrication area to create a few modules that he wanted for the armor, and queued up six Ke-M2-W2913 for use by the away team. As each was completed he did a quick check of them, and secured each in the Armory.

When the last of the weapons was produced, and his armor configured the way he wanted he headed back to the bridge.

Personal Quarters


Bors sat on his bunk studying the manual he had picked up earlier, sipping at his coffee trying to make sense of what he was reading.

"Why would you attach it there? Would make more since to move the coolant line over, could free up some space so people can get to that damn filter in the first place."

He said to himself reading over a diagram. Having frustrated himself by reading an 'overly complicated manual' bors downed the rest of his coffee and laid down for a quick nap.

Engineering

Takeyu let out a sigh when he heard Helen's message, under normal circomstances he'd just respond that things would be perfectly fine, but with the radiation pockets in some areas of the ship that would probably put a kink in whatever plans they were coming up.

He shook his head. "Are you sure Charisma?" he asked and got a response back that was positive. "The pockets of radiation are small enough that they won't interfere with the stealth systems, however, remind me that the next time we get into port to have a team go through and scrub the ship clean," he said to himself and got a positive response in return.

"Engineering to Shosa, Shoi here. Stealth systems will operate effectively, I don't see any problems with it as long as monitor the system and address any issues that drop up." He thought about the matter with the radiation and reconfirmed it one more time with Charisma, even had her run a quick simulation to ensure the results were positive, then shook his head.

"There is one matter I must warn you about though, we weren't able to take care of it back at the port, but there are three very small pockets of radiation located in isolated areas of the ship. Their concentrations are small and within tolerable levels, nothing that our stealth systems can't handle, but I wanted to inform you about this in case you wanted my team and I to address this issue before we use the system."

"The Shosho's busy," Ramiro told the newbie. "I can take care of your needs. If you've gotten all settled in, then you can have a seat over at the Automation station. It should already have set priorities and controls for all of the ship's turrets. For now, I'll retain control of the main cannon, simply because you need to turn the whole ship to aim the cannon so it makes more sense for the pilot to handle that job. Become familiar with your station as well as our MEGAMI. Her name is Charisma, and she is very nice."

When Ramiro finished talking he returned his attention to his duty station.
